I've also yet to come across a flawed bottle so I haven't put their "provenance guarantee" to the test. Still, I've had nothing but pleasant experiences purchasing wine from BWG. Their pricing tends to be very competitive, if not the best in the area, and they've got a huge selection, including a lot of older vintages that are harder to find. I've interacted with their staff via email as well as in person and everyone has been pleasant to work with. That being said, I think there are some opportunities to make improvements. 1. When ordering for pick up, I believe there's a calendar for you to select a date. I often miss this so I wish they would just send an email that your order is ready for pickup. I placed an order recently, got busy with work, and totally forgot about it - which is 100% my fault - but I never received any notification from them beyond the order confirmation. 2. I wish there was an option to hold the wines and slowly build out a case (or two). More often than not, I am not in a hurry to pick up the wines and although we live somewhat close to their warehouse, it's not convenient to make multiple trips out during the weekday when I've got to work. Having this option would motivate me to purchase more wine from them more often to fill out that case and I would know the wines would be properly stored until such time as I did fill out the case and was ready to pick up. 3. It would be awesome if they offered free shipping on a case, even if that offer was limited to Northern California only. In conjunction with (2) above, I would be more inclined to spend more money having the convenience of UPS/FedEx dropping off the case to my home. 4. I wish they were open on Saturdays, even if limited hours. It'd be much more convenient for pick ups. Overall, I'm happy enough with BWG. If they have a wine I'm looking to acquire at a good price, I won't hesitate to order from them. With some improvements though, I would be more likely to come to them as my first option when purchasing wine rather than just on a case by case basis when they happen to have something I'm looking for.

The portion sizes are extremely generous and very easy to share with the entire table. We ordered the deep fried zucchini fries. All their pastas are amazing. And try to leave room for dessert.

Luckily, we had parked downtown and we walked around and stumbled across Scala Osteria. We were greeted by the host at the front, unfortunately, we didn't have a reservation in advance, we would not able to get a table or booth for dining. The only option available was dining at the bar so we chose to dine at the bar. After being seated, we were given menus and water; we chose to dine family style and ordered a few entrees to share. The oysters were very good, the best that I've had, one of my favorites. The side order of fries were fresh and crispy and pairs well with the ketchup and cheese sauce, so delicious. The entrees: the halibut (very soft and delicious), the spaghetti with shrimp and clams (big portion and very delicious and fulfilling), and lastly, the lasagna (the meat was very dry, but the lasagna tasted very cheesy. Unfortunately, the lasagna was my least favorite). Overall, the ambiance is very cozy and inviting. I did enjoy my meal with the exception of the lasagna; I would be open to dining here again in the future and trying something new and also trying desert next time. Scala Osteria is a lovely gem in Napa; would definitely recommend to others!

I've never really been a rum fan... until I tasted Batiste…read more Sure, I've had my share of daiquiris and mai tais over the years. And I've even indulged in a Dark & Stormy and the occasional rum & coke. But for me personally, rum is a heavy spirit with a strong aftertaste, and can lead to a nasty hangover the next day. But then I tried Batiste - and it doesn't have any of that heaviness. It's super smooth. In fact, I would even go so far as sipping on it with no mixer (kind of like a good tequila). But here's the best part - Batiste Rhum is local. True story. In fact, they're the only American rum using single-origin 100% fresh sugarcane juice. It's initially grown and distilled in the French Caribbean, and then aged & finished right here in Napa. And for the quality that you're getting, it's very reasonably priced. You can a 750 ml bottle of silver or gold rhum for $25 - $30. You'll find it at stores like Safeway, Mollie Stone's, Whole Foods, Woodlan's and other higher end markets and fine liquor stores. And you'll always find Batiste in quite a few popular Bay Area County restaurants & bars (Guesthouse, Bungalow 44, Balboa Cafe, Flores, No Name Bar, etc.). So it's nice to see them catching on with local bartenders. If you're looking to mix up some summer cocktails, definitely keep Batiste in your liquor cabinet. Cheers!
