This place is a true gem in the heart of downtown LA. We went to see Lily Allen's incredible performance of "West End Girl" and the vibes and setting were IMMACULATE. Pictures def don't do it justice so just do a favor and go. The theater has been lovingly restored and cared for. The intricate molding and art on the walls and the ceiling are truly some of the prettiest I've ever seen. A large concession and bar area. Gorgeous lighting and typical theater seating (plan on getting your feet stepped on because aisle space for your feet and legs is non existent but this is consistent with every theater I've ever been to). We were in orchestra seating and the views were incredible. Seats were comfortable and while I can't personally attest it appeared there'd be no truly bad seat in the place when it came to viewing the stage. If you have a chance to attend a show here, it's well worth the experience. read more

This is an art deco theater - similar to the Pantages but maybe even older. It is beautiful inside. We went to see Joe Jackson concert there and the sound system is crisp and clear. I can hear the timber of his voice and the sound of the instruments were crystal clear. The concert itself was fantastic. His sound has jazz, Latin, sometimes Middle Eastern flavor and definitely blues. Between the beautiful venue, the sound system and the performance, it was certifiably a happy experience. This is an update to my earlier review: Venue 4: The newly upgraded seats on the main floor are great...very comfy. I cannot say the same about the Wiltern and the Grove of Anaheim. They use zip-tied banquet chairs for their main floor seating :( Service 4: The only services I have been exposed to were the security and the ticket check staff at the entrance. Both were friendly and polite. Facilities 3 stars: Restroom availability is limited to the upper floor and the basement. None on the main floor. And after the concert starts they shut down the ones in the basement. This is inconvenient in general because of the crowds and particularly troublesome for people with limited mobility (although there is an elevator but it still takes time). Why not keep them all open throughout the concert? The last word 4: Nice historic venue to enjoy some good entertainment at. Will be happy to visit again! read more

I absolutely love the long narrow lobby area of this beautiful former picture palace turned concert venue. It's so ornate yet not gaudy. And the huge vaulted ceiling really helps make the smaller space seem much larger and less cramped. The actual theatre area is small enough that it feels intimate yet large enough to accommodate a large enough crowd. I will say, however, that the seats are close to each other so if you are tall, you might find yourself camped in a bit. I am 6 feet tall and I was lucky enough to have an aisle seat so I could stretch out a bit. If I was further in to the row, I probably would've gotten uncomfortable by the end of my show. The acoustics in this theatre is really what shines. I was at a mellow rock/orchestral show and the sound so beautifully filled the venue yet the vocals came through crystal clear. I was really impressed with how balanced everything sounded. It sounded as if I was in a professional recording studio. It might be one of the best sounding venues I've been to in a long time. I have avoided going to the Orpheum for years simply because I didn't want to have to travel in from the Valley. However, now that I have come and experienced it in all its glory, I can't wait to be back. It's well worth the commute & traffic. read more

Great acoustics. Every seat seemed to have a good view of the stage because they were elevated coliseum-style. But like with most venues, the Orpheum needs to make a profit so they sacrifice patrons' comfort by creating as little room as possible between seats. So much so that if you are a tall person or have long legs, be prepared to be uncomfortable. My husband is 6'3" and thankfully could spread his other leg into the aisle because there simply was not enough space for his knees. And any time someone in our row had to leave to use the bathroom, we all had leave our seats to make room for the departing person. It was annoying because it disrupted not just our enjoyment but the enjoyment of all those behind us. The seats were not cheap and for the price paid, it's only fair to expect a modicum of leg room. read more

Orpheum Theater is one of an older venue with absolutely beautiful anesthetics that we don't see in any of the new venues anymore. Detailed and artistic. I've been here for a few shows over the years. Alanis Morresette, David Foster, Josh Groban, Kelly Clarkson, etc. The theater hiding itself away in the busy streets of downtown LA is definately an historic assets to the county. It's older venues Architect is absolutely gorgeous! The sound systems was absolutely clear and great! Just try not to get nosebleeds seats. Because it's scary high and have echo. Parking is just next to the theater with barely any walking distance and the Broadway Bar right next to the theater (if available) If not, parking structures or lots are a block or two away. read more

I come here for one reason and one reason ONLY- Ben Shwartz. I will try very hard not to make this about him but just the theatre. Unlike a lot of theatres, the seats are not perfectly window where you can see past the head of the person in front of you! Lots of wiggling around to see the whole thing. The bathrooms are clean and there are plenty of stalls in the female bathrooms so even though the lines get long, it goes by quickly. The theatre itself is so cute and dainty and feels like an antique building. There are few street parking along the area but what else would you expect for LA. I love the decor and the massive mirrors everywhere! read more

Came here for many years and Saturday they had a play called Jason Lyric's. It's very vintage dang old but VERY kept up and modernized. They have good and alcohol at their concession stand if you want. The only think I did not like is the seating because it is very tight to get through aisle. The service was good and we asked if we bedded any help. I will continue to come here and enjoy entertainment . Our first time at the Orpheum Theater a month ago to see They Might Be Giants was a fun, memorable experience. It's a majestic ,well preserved historical landmark. On top of that, the acoustics are amazing. The seats are relatively comfortable and staff are helpful. Highlight of the evening was seeing a They Might Be Giants 13-year-old superfan sing every lyric of old and new songs and then later jump for joy when the drummer threw her his drumsticks! Me and a friend came here to watch Pink Sweat and Aqyila for a concert. It's definitely an older venue but the nostalgia of it all makes it feel like you're stepping back in time. We parked a couple of blocks away for about $15-20 at a parking structure. The staff was friendly and checking in and getting through security was pretty easy. We got there about 45 min early so we had time to get refreshments and use the restroom. The restrooms are older and not too many for the women's side but there is usually a line for us anyway lol. The sound quality of the show was excellent! We sat in the balcony and still had a good view of the show. I'd definitely come back here for another artist I like! read more

What a beautiful theatre! We saw Matteo Lane here and it was a good venue. There is a parking lot directly next door to the theatre, it's small, but we got there early enough to snag a spot. $15 for parking isn't bad at all! The lot was also super organized and getting out after the show was easy as pie. I did not use the restrooms, but my friends said they were clean. There was a line for the bar when we arrived, I didn't want anything, but my friends did, so they got in line and waited about 10 minutes for some water bottles and a cocktail. Our seats were 12 rows from the stage and it was perfect to see all the comedians. The chairs weren't as comfy as I would have liked, about halfway through the show my back started to hurt and I had to keep readjusting myself to avoid a lower back spasm. Also the cupholders are attached to the back of the chair in front of you, at knee height, so they got in the way and made it that much harder to get comfortable. Overall though, this is a super gorgeous, historical, place. It was very clean and nice, I would definitely see another show here, especially since the parking is so easy! read more

What a magical night! Four days before Christmas, my family and I were back to the Orpheum Theater to attend the concert of the talented young Italian singer Matteo Bocelli in his first USA Tour. Matteo Bocelli is the son of the famous Italian legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli. Like father like son, Matteo inherited the love of music, the talent, the angelic voice, the sense of humor and the handsomeness from the great tenor Andrea Bocelli. Sanah joined Matteo as an opener first. Sanah is a famous young Polish singer, composer, songwriter and violinist. They sang a duet together too, which was amazing. A huge shoutout to his band also because they are a very talented group. The Orpheum Theater was the perfect venue for the talented Italian singer to perform. It has a unique art deco with a classy iconic towering marquee. The theater was decorated with festive and elegant decorations for Christmas. The seats were very comfortable. The Orpheum staff were very welcoming and genuinely warm. They really were very professional and working in harmony to please the audience. The merchandise line was very fast and organized. Everything was perfect. The whole night was such a magical night to celebrate the success of Matteo Bocelli's tour. read more

Not gonna lie. I really don't care to go to Los Angeles for any reason. Mostly because of the traffic nightmare. But the pull of seeing Johnny Marr once more was too much for me so I'll brave it for him lol. But you know what? I'd definitely come back to the Orpheum and I'll tell you why. Located on Broadway in DTLA, the Orpheum is very easy to find amongst all the neon and marquees. There are numerous parking lots and I got one a short walk from the theater. The cost was $15, which after paying $68 at SoFi and Intuit Dome this was an absolute bargain. The interior of the Orpheum is incredible. When I entered the lobby, I felt like I was walking back in time. You can actually walk around and admire your surroundings unlike modern venues. In the basement level you'll find a big waiting area, a bar in its own separate room and finally the bathrooms. The areas are clearly marked and staff was also very nice, guiding everyone to their seats. There isn't a bad seat in the house....until people start standing up when the music plays. I'm 6'2" and the guy next to me was probably 6'5" so I'd say I'd feel bad for the people behind us but I'm not going to sit and look at someone's butt for the next 2-3 hours lol. So I'd recommend taller shoes if you're watching a concert here and you're on the less tall side. Sound was excellent as you'd expect. It wasn't mega loud but as always I'd still recommend earplugs. The Orpheum is a spectacular venue. It's a real piece of history with modern sound and function. I'd see another show here without hesitation, which is a real compliment seeing my disdain for sitting in traffic for over an hour. 1000% recommended! read more

I'm surprised I haven't attended a concert here before. It's rare to find venues new to me in LA. Let's start with the arrival. There are a lot of paid lots. I prepaid for the lot next door. We arrived at 8pm. The parking attendant said the lot was full??? How can it be full when you bought a space months before. I would maybe understand if we were over an hour late. But, we were on time. It felt shady. Like they double sold our spot. That was not a great arrival. They sent us to a lot blocks away! I was unhappy to say the least. The venue itself is very cool. Love the vintage marquee, chandeliers and ceilings. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It was very quick to enter. There is an elevator which is great if you are in the balcony. I have an issue though. There are no railings in the balcony. It's kind of steep and very dark too. It felt unsafe and an accident waiting to happen. The crowd was not young. It was brutal to see people trying to walk up and down to their seats. The sound was good. The biggest issue was leg room. I'm freakishly short and my knees were stuck to the row ahead of me. Then some dumbest added drink holders on the back of the chairs. I have them imprinted on my calves. It was unbearably uncomfortable. I dont know how tall people survived. I would only return if I was in an opera box or the first row. read more

One of the beautiful, historic theaters/theatres that we have here in Los Angeles. I don't know too much of the history or if there were any major revitalizations/ retrofits/ remodels, but the design and building is beautiful. Going to an event here feels more on the intimate side, so it's great for plays, speaking events, stand-up, smaller concerts, etc. I don't think I've ever ordered actual food items here, but I think there are limited concessions here; emphasis on the 'think'. Like most events/ venues like this, the drinks always feel a little overpriced, so nothing shocking there. The folks always seemed friendly. Especially considering how crazy their job could get. Over the years, I've been here for a handful of concerts with some of my favorite bands and musicians. I also came here for a couple of stand up comedy shows including Amy Schumer. Two of the most notable shows (for me) I've been here for are: Bright Eyes - 2/2005 The National - 4/2019 - fun guest appearances from Feist, Phoebe Bridgers, Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire, and Alicia Vikander Overall, I would say it's not my favorite venue to see a concert (specifically), but it's a great venue/ building and it's probably ideal more for screenings/ plays/ stand-up. That's not to takeaway from how great of a building it is design/ historic wise. read more

Recently saw a play here. I was pleased with everything except the seats because they're a little too tight for my liking. It is an older venue though. We sat on the main level about 5-7 rows from the back. It can be hard to see in front of you if there is someone sitting directly in front of you. Bathrooms are located on the bottom level. I took the stairs, but I'm pretty sure there's an elevator. There were 3 bars on the main level with premium drink and custom drink options. If you're hungry, you can get freshly popped popcorn, a burger, chicken strips, and other snack options. We had two boxes of popcorn with our drinks. Yes, you can take your food and drink in the theater. If the sound is too loud for you during the performance, bring earplugs or grab a pair from the free ones that are available in the lobby. There is no "smoking" section once you get in the venue and I'm not sure what the in and out policy is, so you'll have to check if you need a smoke break during the intermission or any waiting period you might have. For parking, there's a Joe's Parking lot located next to the venue. Spots are first come first serve. We paid $10 for parking, the spots are tight, so keep that in mind. Enjoy your show! read more

This theater was amazingly beautiful, clean and well run by staff. I had the pleasure of coming here to see the Fab Five Live in March 2025. I took a ride share there, so it was really easy for me not having to deal with any parking but I did see some lots nearby. The venue was well run and event was very organized. Once you're inside, they have a large area where there is a bar and foods being served and then across from there is the actual theater. They have doors designated by section and row so it's really easy to find your seat when you get inside. Architecture is just gorgeous and they really did a great job of maintaining the original beauty and craftsmanship of this venue. I definitely cannot wait to come back. After the show, it was very easy to stand on the sidewalk right outside of the very well lit venue and wait for our ride-share. I was originally a little bit nervous with the idea of being in downtown LA past 10 PM, but I felt very safe and it was easy to get picked up. read more

Came to the Orpheum on a Friday night to see...John Malkovich in The Music Critic ... Booked tickets on Ticketmaster for around $27 each.. center seats in the balcony... nice seats! Awesome performance by all the musicians and John's acerbic yet hilarious delivery had us rolling from line 1... Magical night in a magical venue... the Orpheum Theatre... The Orpheum club provided much needed drinks and food... grabbed an old fashioned double Bulleit Bourbon w tip for around $30... Nice drink bud! There really isn't anywhere you can't sit where you will be left out of the show... the seating is cozy and close enough to stage so you won't miss a beat... I did get bino envy at times...not gonna lie... but I'll bring my trusty pair next time... Lived here all my life but still so much of LA that I haven't seen or been to. Luckily this place was easy to find with two parking lots that were cheaper than most parts of LA and walkable to the theater. I got my tickets right when they released to take my bf and I to see Shane and Ryan from Watcher on YouTube for their Ghost Files tour!! We love them and watching their content and were super excited that they started doing live shows! Absolutely beautiful building with amazing interior that you wouldn't even be able to tell from the outside. The seating is super old and unchanged so everything was really tight and hard to move through aisles. They had their merch shop set up in the lobby which created a crazy line cluster but it went by pretty quickly after the show. Wish we got popcorn and drinks but we got there literally a few minutes before the show started and didn't want to miss anything. We had a great night and would love to see them again! The theater has a cool, vintage vibe. It is intimate and has good sight lines even from the balcony, at least the center section. Be aware that the end seats of the left and right sections are not aisle seats. They're right next to the wall, so if you are claustrophobic, it's better to avoid those. I noted that there aren't any ushers in at least a few sections, and some of the marble stairs were wobbly, which made me nervous. But I would come back for another show. This venue is so historic and architecturally beautiful, you can almost see its magical movement in the days of yore. Where better than on a street called Broadway in Los Angeles can Chris Isaak display his musical, vocal, and entertainment talent?! I was fortunate to have been a content spectator to such greatness on stage. Nothing compares to live concerts and this was no exception. Thanks to Stacie who was the belle of the ball, ensuring that all guests were duly escorted to their proper seats and all was excellent! The evening was off to a great start thanks to her personable service to all! I was most impressed with Chris's humble nature to expand himself to every part of the audience including the nosebleed seats where his angelic voice resounded everywhere. He was so comedic at times that it felt like he was just chatting with you in your living room and then just threw in an amazing aria! The performance included what looked like choreographed dance routines with intricately tickled guitar cords of Mr.Isaak and his two main accompanying guitarists. His rapport with them was so infectious that I almost wanted to get up there with my air guitar! His beautiful rendition of "Wicked Game" struck me to the heart, my tears were flowing and his final falsetto pierced my soul! That's how good he was! Thankfully his Christmas songs brought many smiles and that lightened the reason for the season. The inclusion of 3 homeless dogs, one with three legs was so touching and reminded us to always adopt and not shop, for our pets! WOW!!! What a beautiful historical building. If you ever have the opportunity to see something here, do it!!! I saw a Chris Issak show here the other night and it was fabulous. Not only was the concert great, but the venue was a step back in time. The art deco architecture was really beautiful. They also offered a nice food menu before the concert began, which I would've taken advantage of if I had known. The drawback to this place is the parking. I did happen to find parking right next to the venue, which was lucky for me. It was the last available spot. Otherwise, you could park several blocks away in Downtown L.A., which is not great to be walking late at night. Still, I'd take my chances and I'd love to come here again. read more

I came here as part of the Netflix is Joke series to see Brett Goldstein. I had an amazing time! The staff is super helpful with finding seats, and parking was really easy with the adjacent. I suggest getting there about an hour early and just hanging out in the area. Same goes with hanging out after and grabbing dinner while traffic disperses from the lot. The show was incredibly entertaining, and the crowd response was great. Getting into and exiting the venue is really easy. After the show, they open the side doors, and you can get to the parking lot and save a minute or two. I don't drink, so I can't say much anything about the bar or alcohol. You'll have to read the other reviews for their food and drink offerings. The architecture is gorgeous. I'd love to see a band here. Give this spot a shot if you've never been. It's one of the easiest venues to get to, enter, and exit. The seats are pretty comfortable too...typical theater seating. The opener for the show was great too. I'll be back! read more

Came to see my hubby's fave podcaster Ashley Flowers do her first live tour of her true crime show!! Very enjoyable experience overall - I'd say definitely 5 stars for the show we saw and 3 stars for the theater/venue experience itself for a total of 4 stars. The show was just awesome!! We had a great time and even got to see her famous, sweet dog Chuck for a brief moment. The theater is historic and full of opulence and grandeur - absolutely beautiful!! We had fun just walking in and exploring a bit, taking photos etc before getting settled. Now for the theater experience... The show start time was 8pm with doors opening at 7pm. We arrived at 645pm and the LINE WAS INSANE! Believe me when I say it wrapped around ENTIRE BLOCK! That being said - we were in the door within 15 minutes so it moved at a rapid clip. However, the surrounding area is definitely a tad sketchy and we were approached and just a tad bothered by certain individuals on the street. So be aware and prepared - it's DTLA and a 5 min walk away from skid row. They do offer food - both in their "restaurant" downstairs and a bar style counter upstairs by the mezzanine entrance. The restaurant serves hot food and it looked and smelled great - but the line was insanely long. If we had tried to get food we would've missed part of the show. So I'd recommend either eating before you come or coming early enough to get at the front of all the lines. The bar style counter upstairs serves alcohol and other drinks as well as snacks like popcorn, chips and candy. Prices for bottles of water and all the snacks are $4 each - definitely inflated prices but not insane like one might expect. They have numerous staff around to guide you to your seat and answer questions. All were very friendly and helpful - at the bar too. We had seats in the Mezzanine B row off to the right and our views were wonderful - totally unobstructed and at a great angle although they seemed a tad far away but I'd sit there again. I'm short at 5'2" so I had plenty of leg room and the seats are comfy - no issues of discomfort during the 2 hour show. My biggest issue of the night - they have private opera boxes off to the right and left of the mezzanine seats. The ones closest to us seemed to have been used throughout the night by staff to catch moments of the show - no big deal - but a handful of these staff were drinking heavily, being extremely loud and unruly - and you could even hear them yelling and screaming off to the sides of the seats. Totally interrupted the show multiple times. The theater itself has no parking but there are numerous paid lots in the surrounding area and a couple directly behind the theater. We didn't want to risk it bc the lots are open air and unguarded and the area is very sketchy. So we got Uber to and from the show. And by the time we got there, all the lots were absolutely packed anyway. So overall I enjoyed our experience and would return for another show but probably arrive much earlier to get a better spot in line etc. read more

A Westside Story Burlesque Show, a one day free event  on 2023-2-10 was showcased at the Orpheum Theater, one of many palatial theatres along Broadway in L.A.'s Historical Downtown, built in 1925 as a vaudeville entertainment space that has hosted luminaries such as Lena Horn, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Judy Garland, Jack Benny, Little Richard, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, etc.  A Westside Story Burlesque Show was certainly an updated 21st century version where dance and music is totally emphasized over vocalization and dialogue since the story based on Romeo & Juliet is so well known. Very good dancing, that shows plenty of toned bodies, is a mix of modern dance and ballet.   Since burlesque is based on the suggestive and erotIc, the dancers perform their antics with male-male, female-female, male-female pairings and pas de deux. Safe sex is touted in some of the lyrics in recognition that the aids virus and STD are ever evolving to resist medication. The troupe is young, vivacious, multiethinic, multisexual reflecting the multifaceted environment that is Los Angeles.    The Orpheum Theater is a tribute to the great architectural, grandiose, entertainment palaces of the early 20th century that will never be built anymore.  Hopefully, Los Angeles realizes its past mistakes and keeps its historical downtown core intact.  4 stars read more

We went to The Orpheum Theatre for a Charlie Zaa concert recently. Concert was at 8 PM and the doors opened at 7 PM. It was our first time there, so we arrived around 6:15 PM and found parking directly next to the theatre for $15. We wound up being first in line but lots of people started to show up not long after. We felt safe waiting outside even with the usual downtown weirdos lurking around. After going through the security metal detectors, we had free reign to roam throughout the theatre. We honestly fell in love with the 1920s architecture! The theatre is kept in top shape after all these years (97 years old to be exact) and looks amazing! We saw 3 bars - one on the second floor, one on the ground level in front of the theatre doors and one downstairs (which we liked better for the old-fashioned anesthetic of the lounge area). Drinks and food are decently priced but of course there's nothing wrong with eating/drinking beforehand. Restrooms were big and clean. Lots of employees all over to help you with whatever you need and enjoy the show (no flash photography fyi). Our seats were in the Orchestra Section, Row T, Seats 2 & 4. Not going to lie - I was a little worried about the seats since we haven't been here before, but they turned out to be perfect! Great view of the entire stage! Only slight downside is that since they were aisle seats, we had to keep getting up to let people in/out (but it's better than being stuck in the middle!). We had a blast at The Orpheum! The view/sound was on point, the building itself was a marvel to explore, and parking was easy peasy to exit. If you get a chance to see a show here, don't miss out! read more

Very Beautiful historic building. Gorgeous inside. Easy parking. Lots everywhere. $15 Friendly staff/security inside. Plenty of bars and bathrooms located throughout. Very clean. Food options are turkey sandwich, quesadillas, (w/ or w/out meat) hotdogs, popcorn, candy etc (maybe a burger too, just can't remember) Definitely doable if you get hungry. I'm hoping they list the food on their website soon. It can only help We saw the Fab 4 Beatles. Front row balcony / center. Sound was perfect. And it truly didn't feel like we were sitting in a balcony. Great place to see a show. I would go back in a heartbeat. We had no issues whatsoever with the homeless population. If you're worried about leaving late, technically you're leaving with 1900 other people. No issues, just be smart. We had a wonderful time read more

It is an oven in here. I didn't pay hundreds of dollars to sit and sweat. It's hotter in here than it is outside. No fun.

Staff were welcoming and helpful! Love the 1920s Decor of the Theatre, Art Deco Vintage style. First time here- 03/01/25 went to see Pink Sweat$!!! Such a genuine and true performer- Love his vocals!! Also that the parking is right next door, just come early for a good spot!!! Definitely would come back here again!! read more
