First of all when entering Ortega's the service is excellent as staff greets you right when you walk in (sorry I forget the young lady's name hopefully she doesn't see this lol) but she has the best customer service and remembers my name after only going there a couple times. First time I went I was inquiring about the menudo ( I like good menudo and wanted to try a different spot other then my other favorite spot Lucy's diner) to find out it is the same owner. The menudo was off the Chain of course due to being identical to Lucy's diner, today I tried the albondigas and it was so good. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. The service was good but the food was just terrible. Over priced and pretty misleading. Was offered a "bollio" for my menudo and not told about the up charge. Ordered the appetizer combo and was really disappointed. The "hot wings" dripped on the chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks. The price was also not posted on the menu. It's no wonder why they didn't. It's twice the price of the other appetizers. The chicken tenders were poor quality. All in all a pretty terrible experience. I was excited to see this place opened but totally let down. Good service doesn't make up for the terrible over priced food. $68 for 2 people is just wrong. It's super nice inside and was felt cool considering the hot weather. We were immediately greeted and sat. You get free chips and salsa, chips came out super fresh and salsa was mild. The menu is humongous there's literally everything for everyone. We got short stack banana pecan pancakes, fried zucchini (can feed 2-3 people)and the mini taco platter with 2 soft drinks totaling 43$. I love this little Fontana gem!! Been here multiple times and everything is consistent. The service is ALWAYS fantastic!! You can tell that they work together as a team. We get checked on my multiple people during our dining experience. The food is always fantastic! Today we came with our doggy and they even gave her fabulous service. Made sure she had water. To be honest, I miss the Hotspot; however, the food at Ortegas is decent, and there's a ton of options on the menu to choose from. Prices are a little steep, but you do get a good amount of food on some items. The service was great and inside was clean! Hello everyone Again I was wondering how many good reviews from fellow Yelp customers Well they are right ! The food was very good I had the hard shell tacos And my wife had the chilaquiles . Her meal was great , we really enjoyed the smaller cut tortillas chips . But beware ! My wife's order only came was 1 egg, (I thought my waitress forgot or ate the egg). Be rest assured she did Not eat the egg nor did the cook forget the egg. "Are you ready for this " It's make more room for the meat to be added! This was our waitress reply to my silly question? She was very polite and helpful with my questions. What happened to my other egg? And the smoked chipotle sauce was really good. My hard shell tacos are old school style (My school is very old fashioned ) Both the shredded pollo and beef were very crispy and delicious . Saw this diner was now open and went in to try it out. very disappointed. I ordered the appetizer combo and it was not worth it. Not only did it cost 22.99 for chicken tenders, 3 wings , 3 mozzarella sticks and fries but they had not marinara sauce. when I asked for some the waitress said they do not get marinara sauce. How do you sell mozzarella sticks with no sauce. Only good experience and why I'm rating a 2 star is the customer service. I tried Ortega's Diner today. Brie took my "to go" order. She seemed knowledgeable of the menu and was friendly and relatable. The restaurant is clean and nicely laid out with generous parking. The menu is pretty extensive, and I ordered a pastrami melt sandwich and a chile verde burrito. Both were good size servings and were delicious. Lovely small place with an outside patio. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They were also attentive. We never had to ask for refills. They came over to see how our food was or if we needed anything. Now, let's dig into the food. The food was hot and freshly made. Pictures are what we ordered. Everyone in my party was delighted and enjoyed their food. I had the Banana Pecan Pancakes. Delicious is all I have to say. My new favorite way to have pancakes. Stopped by on a Sunday morning, was greeted by the friendliest staff/family members with smiles! I love that. Ordered menudo with all the condiments, corn tortillas and my hubby ordered a California omelette. Very good food! Freshly made menudo and coffee was coming by quickly as I love that too. I have been here 3 times already and the service is always great and amazing the food was great all the time my girlfriend loved it and she's very picky she said she didn't like the bacon because it was fatty and not cooked crispy I do feel the food could have some more seasoning but that's my opinion but there's salt and pepper for a reason other than that I have recommended to my family and friends and everyone has said they love it I heard they have alcohol drinks as well which I will be getting soon read more

Was originally walking by this restaurant on our way to the pizza place next door. Orteg's has amazing beautiful mouthwatering photo posters of many of their menu items. We still went for pizza, but we have eaten at Ortega's twice and the posters did not disappoint us. The food is amazing. They also serve Menudo everyday, rare in LA. Their Cocida was also amazing and their staff is wonderful. They serve the basic diner food and they have Mexican options as well. This is a must try place. read more
