    Hard crispy tacos!
    Carolyn G.

Stopped in last night for dinner and drinks with friends. Omg the tacos were bomb! Nice ice cold beers! We sat at the bar and our bartender was friendly. The bar had a nice chill vibe. We noticed regulars go there but everyone was friendly. We will definitely go back!

We hosted a private party out on the patio at the end of June. The atmosphere was perfection, the temperature was nice and cool, ceiling fans going, the lovely sound of the water feature/fountain, and gorgeous live greenery and lively Mexican music. We chose to have the buffet with enchiladas, shredded beef tacos (my favorite), chile verde, beans, rice, salad and FRESH, made by hand, right in front of us, corn tortillas! Every single bite was so delicious. All my guests were filled to the max. I personally enjoyed a spicy mango margarita and coconut cocktail, (both were to die for) and the ice tea was freshly made, which is something I always appreciate. Our servers treated us like family and were very attentive. I would HIGHLY recommend booking Zendejas for your next event. This is our second time hosting here and once again we were so impressed. Money well spent.

I Was invited to zendejas for a birthday party. They had reserved the entire outside patio and the back room. The setting was very pretty. Food was set up right outside the bar. It was "serve yourself"/buffet style. Menu included cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, hard shell tacos, Chile Verde, and a green salad. Every table has guacamole and tortilla chips. Not sure if this was also part of the restaurant menu, but There was also a dessert table which included pan dulce, conchas, churros, cupcakes, empanadas and different type of candy. It was a nice touch. There was also a mariachi playing all the jams. Our servers were a little overwhelmed but they did they're best. Afterall, It was a huge party. Now, the food. I had high hopes. But unfortunately, the good fell short. The food lacked flavor. My favorite things were the rice and the guacamole and the green salad. Dont think I will return.

Shrimp enchiladas, piña colada and steak fajitas
    Beautiful Q.

We had a great time with amazing food and drinks. The service was on point and the staff was very attentive. Our go-to entrees were the combo fajitas and shrimp enchiladas with the Zendejas platter for the appetizer. Oh and we also had a Churro Sundae. Our drinks were a Pińa Colada and a Cancun Water....delicious!

We ordered the grilled artichoke to start, which was delicious. It comes with a Dijon dipping sauce that I loved. I ordered the macadamia nut crusted halibut that's on their current seasonal menu. It comes with an orange ginger sauce. The fish was firm and flaky, the mac nut crust gave it some nice crunch, and the sauce was flavorful. The fish comes with two sides, but I opted for a double order of the grilled zucchini. My husband ordered the sea bass that's also coated with a crust and comes with a lemon butter sauce. We tried each other's fish and we agreed they're both tasty, but mine was a bit better! I liked the lemon butter sauce on his fish a lot. Despite being busy, service was great! Our drinks stayed topped off, our waitress was ready with the check when we asked, and overall it was a nice relaxing dinner.

The poor experience began at the host stand. I had a reservation for 1:15 PM but arrived early and was sat at 12:56 PM. Despite my active reservation, when the host led me to the table, she asked if the reservation was under "M." When I got to the table and asked who "M" was, she dismissively replied that they "just put down an alphabet." I told her my name was Will, but she didn't care to acknowledge it or correct her mistake. This cold shoulder continued throughout the meal. When asked about drinks, I said "water for now," and every time I said "thank you" to our server, I was met with complete silence and zero acknowledgment. Once my guest--who is white--joined me at the table, the dynamic shifted entirely. He received 95% of the server's warmth, eye contact, and attention. The only time the server actively engaged with me was to take my physical food order. Even the food had issues--our first crab cake was served overcooked. Because my guest was the one who pointed it out, the manager came over and addressed him to replace it. While the manager's interaction was a bit better, the server's dismissive attitude toward me never improved for the rest of the meal. To top it off, I was the one who paid the bill. When the server returned my credit card, instead of handing it back to me, she chose to place the presenter book directly in the middle of the table. As a business owner, I understand how critical customer service is. The selective attentiveness and dismissive attitude I experienced today felt incredibly biased and completely ruined our lunch. I will not be returning to this location.

The appetizers and side dishes were good, and we enjoyed the fries, noodles, and calamari. The only disappointment was the special sauce that comes with the crawfish and shrimp boil. The flavor wasn't what we expected and tasted more like a tomato-based sauce. Compared to places like The Boiling Crab or Kicking Crab, it lacked the buttery, garlicky, and savory flavor we were looking for. Unfortunately, the sauce was the main reason my kids and I didn't enjoy the seafood. Since the sauce is such an important part of a seafood boil, it really affected our overall experience. The food itself was fresh, and the service was fine, but we would probably choose The Boiling Crab or Kicking Crab next time.

They provided us menus, pretty straightforward; choose seafood, add sides for an extra cost, choose the flavor, and the spice level. One thing not noted on the menu is that shrimp isn't peeled, but they can peel them for an extra $6. And each order comes in pound increments. No half a pound offered. Your table is also covered with paper so you can eat the seafood boil from there. They provide bibs and gloves for no charge. Ultimately, we enjoyed our meals. Everything was flavorful and, unlike some other seafood boil spots, it didn't leave us feeling like we had heartburn afterward. There's a little sink for you to clean your hands at, which is nice since you dont have to wait for the restroom to empty. The service is what was a bit off. Like we asked for 3 Cajun fry boats but only received 2. Drinks were mixed up, and the clam chowder didn't arrive until about 20 minutes after our seafood bags had already been delivered. If you want ranch for your fries, they charge 60 cents for a small container. For drink refills, they bring a pitcher, but it's the kind typically used for measuring ounces. The server also tended to reach across one end of the table to grab empty cups or pass out food. Since I was seated at the end, it felt awkward having to help pass things down, especially since there were other access points to reach people in our party. We left around 920pm. I only mention it because we were the last group there, and we all noticed the heater seemed to have been turned on. Restaurant sign says open til 10pm on Sat. but we saw them turn off their open sign when we went outside. Needless to say, service could have been better.

I can't prove it, so I can only share our experience, but it honestly felt like there were fewer than 15 shrimp in the bag. For the first time ever, we finished our meal and were still hungry afterward. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend ordering the combo bag. Not only did it seem like there was significantly less food, but with all the ingredients piled together, some items ended up overcooked. The $45 menu is extensive, featuring a wide variety of Vietnamese dishes such as escargot (ốc), pho, and bò né (Vietnamese sizzling beef steak), among many others. We ordered escargot with tamarind sauce, oysters with cheese, a lobster special, rau muống (water spinach) with garlic, glass noodles, and a ribeye steak. This isn't a typical buffet--each dish is cooked to order. It took about 15 minutes since there were only two chefs, but the wait was absolutely worth it. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served piping hot. The lobster was a whole lobster with claws, and the ribeye was a generous cut served sizzling at the table. The portions are large, and our server kindly warned us ahead of time--we're glad we listened! The owner was friendly, and the service was attentive throughout our meal. My wife and I loved this place and will definitely be coming back. It's great to have quality Vietnamese food nearby without having to travel all the way to OC.
