Well, we finally did it! We moved to Boise and Ortega managed to pack up & fill a moving pod from 3 different storage units! Juan and two of his workers came to empty my 12 foot Pod, they were a half hour late. They took 2 beautiful wood dressers a desk a leather ottoman and a few other things, it took a total of 1/2 hour. When I spoke to Juan in the beginning, he told me $130 an hour, no mention of a minimum of hours. When he presented the bill , it was for $450!! I was so upset, I was planning on $130! He didn't tell me there was a minimum of 3 hours and $200 to go to the dump, which came out to $450. read more

FIRST CLASS MOVERS! I have used Ortega Movers locally many times since 2013 to deliver items purchased by numerous sellers when in Long Beach. I've been amazed and pleased at what they were able to move, ranging from extreme weights to highly delicate crystal and porcelain! They moved my household locally in 2022 to Orange County and the packers were meticulous, even teaching me how to pack well. All remained intact, very efficient. engaging and experienced! Reasonably priced and Juan assisted in the coordination with permits, notices and timely suggestions. I had rented a smaller condo and they worked in tandem to set up furniture in the best of ways. My last move was April 2024 to Placer County and I was so relieved they could do it themselves rather than make recommendations for other companies. Coordination for an overnight move was more complicated with my personal circumstances. It was mind boggling to experience the ongoing coordination without a hitch! The move-in was concise and the team consulted with me throughout the entire process. They were engaging, expeditious, organized and thorough. All ensured I was satisfied with furniture placement and moved it if I changed my mind. They made it a stress free morning, moving my furniture, bins and boxes carefully. They literally had me packed loaded move from Long Beach to Mission Viejo and complete within six hours they disassembled and assembled anything they moved. Their trucks were clean. I only wish I could give Ortega's ten stars for their outstanding service ! First, Juan Ortega is a gentleman of the highest degree. He was one of only two movers who had the courtesy to come to our home and quote an estimate to us in person. All the rest just sent their hourly rates by email. Ortega's moving came to our house on a Monday and loaded everything up, including a local storage locker in addition to the house. Then on the Tuesday they drove a considerable distance to our new home and expertly moved everything into the house as well as another local storage we'd hired. Our furniture includes a great many antiques from my wife's family. These pieces of furniture were expertly packaged for protection. I used Ortega's for the first time today to see if this would be a fit before doing several other moves to clean out my storage units. Glad I took that approach since they neglected to tell me about all of the costs before the start of the job. Instead, I was told it was $160/hr. for 3 guys, three hour minimum plus a $65 fuel fee. That was it. So it was a huge surprise to find an additional 20% fee to cover the cost of the "supplies" to wrap my furniture in plastic (which I confirmed ahead of time on the phone before the start of the job but no mention of the costs). $125 in supplies is simply absurd to wrap seven pieces of furniture (bedroom set and couch). The workers were fine and were very careful so that's a positive. Just watch out of the hidden extra fees before working with this company. I found out the hard way and now my hunt for another moving company continues. read more

So much so, that we asked them to come back a couple days later and do some additional onsite moving of several heavy objects. Luis was the lead on both jobs and I highly recommend asking for him as a Supervisor if he's available! Luis was professional, positive, and super efficient. Nothing was missing. Nothing was broken. All items were professionally wrapped. Every request I made, the response was "YES! We can do that!" or "No problem!" Our final cost was less than the actual estimate. And, they bill online so it's really easy with everything itemized out for review. Honestly, it's challenging to get movers to even show up these days let alone take care with your possessions.
