I don't use a walker, but , due to a weak foot, can have balance issues. Therefore, for 10 days with preteens in DC, I rented a walker in case I felt unsteady running around DC. This was the best decision I could have made. Not only was I more secure and steady, but I had my own personal seat wherever I needed it! Stopping to watch, read, rest allowed me to sit, take my time and recover whenever needed. This decision provided an extra measure of fun for my vacation. The seat also provided a place for things like lite jackets for the entire group. After reading reviews, I decided to go with Orthopaedic Mobility Rentals. The process couldn't have been easier. I rented several weeks in advance to ensure I would have the device. It was delivered in perfect shape and clean to my hotel early and was at the desk when I arrived. It was easy to use on the metro, especially if I used an elevator. Escalators were a bit tricky but I never had a real problem. If neither were working, the stairs were ok with my husband helping me. I found later there were steep ramps that could have helped. I'm sure an experienced person would be fine. I left the device at the desk on pickup day and it was picked up without issues. I was travelling from Texas to DC to attend my son's graduation from the Marines OCS at Quantico, and I needed a scooter for my mother. Immediately after I booked my rental, I saw post somewhere about mobility scooter scams. I got nervous. I wasn't sure if I had fallen for it, and I was worried that we would not have our rental. However, the whole process went great. The scooter was delivered to, and picked up from, our hotel. I ran into a small problem the first morning in that it was making a beeping sound and wouldn't move, so I called. I got Jorge (the owner) on the phone in less than a minute, and he told me I had to move the locking lever over the rear tire, then turn the key off and back on. It worked perfectly after that.
