I went in about two weeks ago for a men's haircut with Ashlynn . I have naturally curly hair, and I asked for a tapered low fade with some skin exposure. Now I've never been here, and I'm new to the area. If she didn't know how to or feel comfortable with doing it she should've said something. My hair looked ridiculous, I had to drive all the way to Chicago to get get it fixed by another place. Never again, I was nice enough to pay and tip way more than she deserved. I hadn't realized the terrible job she had done til I got home and washed my hair. Ended up paying 68$ for a haircut that day that's including the place I had to go get it fixed at. This place is beautiful and is made even more beautiful by the kind people who work there. I was scheduled with Paul who went above and beyond for me. I haven't had much "me time" the past year since having a baby and my hair had seen better days. Paul was so fun and easy to talk to. He gave me the most relaxing shampoo complete with a relaxing hand massage. Not only did he give me a great haircut he also curled it for me once he heard I had a date night with my husband after the appointment. This hair salon is amazing! I had originally planned to do my own hair for my wedding, but at the last minute decided to get it done. I called the morning of my wedding, and they were able to accommodate me within the hour. I received a full updo and they were able to incorporate the hair piece I provided. First off, I'm typically one to cut my hair once a year...maybe...simply because haircuts bore me. And NOW?? I will definitely start getting a routine haircut. So, I asked for a haircut the day before and was lucky enough to get in the next day!! I walked in and Sabrina offered me my choice of tea, coffee, or water. They have enough coat hangers for EVERYBODY and extremely comfortable couches while you wait. Melanie is who cut my hair and did an amazing job!!! I wish I took a before, I had gone maybe 4 months with no haircut and 2 months without shaving. She started with a head massage and led to washing and conditioning my hair, all in which we're soothing and relaxing, she focused on what I wanted to do with my hair by asking questions and i showed her a picture, thinning here, chopping there, and after seeing the result, I couldn't be more happier. It was exactly like the picture I brought in and It lasted all day and night. It even held up against the high humidity. My bridesmaids and mom also got their hair done and were so happy! The first time, I got a complimentary blow dry with my color, which I was so excited about! (I hate paying to get my hair colored and leaving with it wet, or having to pay for a finish.) Absolutely horrific service. I have been going to os2 for two years. Trusted them with my hair and just recently went in for a color and cut by Miguel and sometimes get my hair cut by paul. Kristen the manager treated me so awful and I quote said "I don't know if we can ever meet you expectations" well with the $300 I spent there on just wanting dark red and a cut my expectations should have been met the first time. She was so rude and told me something personal on the phone that I confided in Paul with. So hurt and in tears. What an unprofessional salon. read more

I recently saw Jamie for a cut and highlight. Before my appointment my hair was very damaged. I usually use Aveda salons because their color is so gentle on my fine hair, but had been using a non-Aveda salon for a couple of years after moving to this area, and as a result my hair was fragile and frizzy. I was uncertain about seeing a new stylist based only on Yelp reviews but I took a chance and I am so glad I did. Jamie made me feel very comfortable and it was apparent right away that she knew how to treat and cut my hair. She recommended a hair mask treatment (magic!) to give my hair a very healthy look and gave me a fabulous cut and highlights. I couldn't be happier and would recommend this salon and stylist. A couple of extra comments- Jamie was super nice as was the rest of the staff. She gave me recommendations and information about products but I didn't feel pressured at all to purchase anything I didn't want or need. The location of the salon is cute and convenient- a nice excuse to shop and walk around a lovely area of downtown Geneva with your fab new haircut. read more

I'm so excited I finally made the time to come into this salon and get my hair back on track! I saw Miguel about a year ago and he did a great job with my cut and was very nice too. I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't had my hair cut since because of life and working weird hours at work so scheduling a time to get my hair back on track was difficult. I finally made time and walked in to see if I could get my haircut and I was in luck and got stylist Melanie. She cut my hair and did an awesome job! My hair felt so much healthier and so smooth. She explained the products that she used on my hair and I liked she wasn't overly pushy either too. In the past I've seen stylists and they sometimes leave you feeling embarrassed about your hair (the at home coloring or it being dry or not keeping up with normal haircut appts). This never happened at OS2, all the staff is super friendly and helpful and you leave feeling great! I am definitely going to be a regular and I will tell my friends about this place. Once I experienced the miracles Miguel can work I was hooked and OS2 is now my one and only salon!! I can't say enough about how talented Miguel is. I've had a botched dye job and a horribly botched haircut from OS2. About two years ago I saw Silvena for balayage highlights. I'm a brunette and wanted subtle blonde highlights. I left with an entire head of ORANGE hair. There were absolutely no breaks in the color, no sight of my natural hair even peaking through except for at the roots. The roots were especially brassy orange but because of the balayage style also dark brown, an especially nice look... Since I paid around $300, I called to see what they could do to fix it. They were nice enough on the phone and had me come in to see Paul. He was able to color correct the brassy orangeness and dye sections of the orange brown (yes adding low lights to try and match my original color to achieve the highlights that I asked for vs all over color). I was not thrilled with the the end result but much happier than I was with the ompaloompa hair I left with a few days earlier. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I've been seeing Paul for regular cuts ever since. I have very long (scratch that HAD very long) thick beautiful hair down to my back, a couple inches past my elbows. Last week I went for my regular trim and asked for some subtle, long layers to be added and to have it thinned a little bit to remove some of the bulk/weight from my heavy head of basically all one length hair. I showed him 3 pictures of girls with the exact same length, color and style so as to leave nothing to the imagination. However, that is NOT what I left with. He showed me that he was going to cut 2" inches off the ends which I was totally fine with since I typically go 6 months between cuts and wanted fresh ends. Well he not only took at least double that from the longest layer but chopped away at my hair like Edward scissor hands until my shortest layer reached my chin, so about 6-8 inches of length - that took me years to grow just chopped abruptly. I now have short shoulder length, very choppy, varied length layers with obvious "holes" in the longest layer that just hangs there with no hair, just a big old empty gap. I asked for long layers.... There's about a five inch gap from the shortest layer to the longest. It looks awkward AF. I feel like I have a mullet. I can't even do a messy bun anymore because these short layers refuse to lay down, they stick straight up in all directions. And to add insult to injury, because the shortest layer was so abruptly chopped from the rest of the length, my color outgrowth from the previous color catastrophe looks hideous. The shortest layer shows off 1 inch of blonde hair that's an awkward contrast to the dark brunette hair beneath in the longer layer. I have no idea why he decided to take creative liberty with my hair or completely ignore what I asked for or the images that I painstakingly scoured the internet for, but I have never been so upset over a haircut in my life. I honestly believe he did it to get me coming in every six weeks vs six months. Because this cut is very high maintenance, with all of those bs layers (seriously they're like seven different lengths) I am going to have a whole mess of split ends and be constantly trying to get that 6 inch chop job to match the longest layer. It's absurd that he chose (not me Bc he completely ignored what I wanted) to give me this high maintenance style when I told him I'm expecting and have been so sick that I haven't done my hair in months and obviously won't have time to style all seven layers of hair once the baby comes, let alone drop the $70/every six weeks on his over priced haircuts. I have no idea how to style this hair. I normally just straighten it (which he knows) and I can't do that with the way the layers lay. They look completely unintentionally choppy and weird. They just abruptly end and are not blended at all. Does he really think I am going to spend an hour blowing out every layer? Ugh, the owner offered a complimentary cut next time. A lot of good that does. I can't trust your stylists so I don't want to come back. And I'm going to need so many cuts/ so much upkeep to get my hair back on track despite the years of length left on the floor that one "free" cut doesn't really make a dent in the services I'll rack up at a NEW salon. read more
