The only reason I'm giving three stars is because the manicurist I use does a good job! I've been going to this place for quite some time and I have to say, the place has gone downhill. This used to be a very nice place to patronize, but I noticed that the place is not as sanitary as it used to be, and customer service has become less friendly, and most of the manicurists cannot communicate in English. Although now they use a supposed sterilizing process where a set of tools is sterilized in an individually sealed package, the emery boards, etc. are not clean and sanitary, and often the nippers are not sharp enough, probably because they don't send them out to be sharpened often enough. They raised the prices and lowered the quality of service. The manicurist I use for my mani/pedi does a good job but the customer service leaves something to be desired. I really like the manicurist I use; she's nice, she does a really good job, and she communicates very well in English, so I always make an appointment before coming in to make sure that I will get her. . However, making an appointment doesn't always mean you are taken ahead of walk-ins. One day, on a Saturday, I arrived about 15 minutes before my scheduled time, however the manager sent a walk-in (who arrived after I came in) over to my manicurist less than 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment. I found this very odd since, as we all know, even the simplest manicure takes longer than 10 minutes, so I said something to the manager; her response was, "your appointment is at 3 o'clock", so I argued with her, and told her that even if I was a walk-in (which I wasn't) I still arrived BEFORE the woman who was sent over to my manicurist. I was told that although I came in before the walk-in, they go by the appointment time, and even I come a few minutes earlier than my appointment time, they will take a walk-in before me if it's not my appointment time yet. Really????? It just makes no sense that they would do that!!! So, what they are doing is making someone with an appointment wait be taken late, because they chose to take a walk-in first. I was mad, so I walked out. Recently, a few times when I have called for an appointment, the manager who I think may actually be the owner, tells me to come earlier than the time I request....and not because my manicurist is booked, but because they "assume" it MAY get busy; I caught on because there have been times that I rush to get there earlier, only to find out that my manicurist did not have an appointment scheduled at the time I originally asked for, and when I question her, she will say, the person cancelled, or the person came earlier instead. NOT!!! By the way, this happens for a weekday appointment, not even a weekend when they are much more busy! Their prices are NOT reasonable. $20 for a Monday thru Thursday standard mani/pedi is not what I consider reasonable....most places around Queens offer $15 - 18 for a Monday thru Thursday mani/pedi. I avoid this place on the weekend because their weekend prices are just way too high. I tried to overlook the poor customer service because the manicurist that I used does a good job, but now due to poor customer service and not-so-great sanitary conditions, I'm on a mission to find a new place to go. I'm sure I can find a better salon, with more convenient parking, and probably for a lower price! .... and you can too! read more
