Best Bean and Cheese Burrito- hands down- or hands around-that monster burrito. The beans have a little secret something. And perhaps the best part is the soft, pillowy tortilla. I received a $10.00 off coupon for Oscar's in the mail for their grand opening. The location is very tough to find, but based on prior Yelp reviews, I was able to find it easily. If you are going north on Scottsdale Road, be sure to go east on Deer Valley and cut through the office parking lot to get to the restaurant. I wasn't in the mood for dining in, even though the restaurant looked empty. We got into the busy drive-thru line and got through the line fairly quickly. The first menu board listed the specials and the second menu board listed the full menu. The prices are a little more expensive than similar restaurants, but their portions are huge. We were very happy with our shrimp burrito and chicken quesadilla. Make sure you ask for extra napkins if you order the shrimp burrito. Small place tucked away in a strip mall business park with a drive thru. This place is legit Mexican food and plenty filling especially the burritos. Ordered the carnitas and bean and rice burritos .....more than enough for 3 of us. Clean place with courteous staff. Not a long wait for orders and quite an extensive menu. Salsa is bomb ! Ordered the Fish Burrito, Carna Asada Burrito, Shrimp Tacos and Steak Carna Asada Tacos. Really enjoyed the shrimp tacos and the fish burrito and I consider myself a carnivore. Oscar's Taco Shop on Scottsdale Road offers very tasty Mexican staples - burritos, tacos, tamales, enchiladas - at a reasonable price served in a very, very casual ambiance. My dining companion and I were craving Mexican for lunch after a hike at the nearby Phoenix Sonoran Preserve Brown's Ranch Trail Center and were inspired to try Oscar's based primarily on the high ratings on Yelp and optimistic not to repeat the disappointing experience we had at another casual Mexican restaurant a few days previously. I opted for the special Carnitas Burrito ($10), with a VERY generous portion of tender pulled pork, fresh guacamole, and pico de gallo wrapped in a freshly made flour tortilla, and made it a platter with rice and beans. To my surprise, the freshly-made and very tasty burrito was much larger than I expected and I probably didn't need the rice and beans. My dining companion was thrilled to see that Oscar's offers breakfast-all-day and ordered the Sausage, Egg and Cheese Burrito ($7) which she enjoyed a lot. Definitely a much better experience than the other place we'd tried a few days earlier. If we're ever back in the area, we'd definitely try it again. read more
