I had a weird experience in their drive thru. I had never been here. I wanted to go through their drive thru because my lunch time is only 30 min. After I placed my order, the person didn't say anything about where to pull up. I pulled up to the first window I saw and sat there for almost 5 min before someone actually opened the window. I almost drove around the building because it took so long, thinking maybe there is another window I should be going to. They took my payment and closed the window. I had no idea if I was suppose to wait again or drive around possibly to another window to get my food. After waiting again, I decided to drive around. I then realized there isn't another window. I was very frustrated. I went back around to the drive thru, now there were 2 cars ahead of me. I told the person on the speaker what just happened. She told me I'll have to wait behind the 2 cars or they could bring my food out front to me. Well, for me to get my food out front I had to back out of the drive thru. I told them I'll back up to come to the front of their restaurant. That was fun. Luckily, there were not cars behind me. I was hoping someone would be waiting out front with my food but of course there wasn't. I walked inside to get my food. This was a very confusing, unorganized and stressful lunch.

Just ok. Not good not bad. Very little flavor. All the women came out of the back when we walked in. You could tell they were all gabbing and hanging out and us walking in made them work again.... Margarita was good. Nice that they had beer. They have more specials online but this location only posts specials # 1-4 on their menu board It was clean and food was ready decently fast. Came here around 4 pm on a Friday. Would definitely do the drive through next time. The Spanish mariachi music blasting over the speakers was extremely annoying eating here in person....

Just the delivery man again; but Senor Taco Express never fails to fulfill! And it helps to order on line with convenient pick up!

It says buy 9 burritos get one free! Why can't I get the burrito I want?

I've been here enough times to where I could fill up one of their free burrito cards. I go to redeem it and they tell me that I can't get the burrito that I want even though there's no limitations listed on the card. Kind of feels like a bait and switch. Either list the limitations of the promotion on the card or honor it.

Great little fast but fresh, authentic Mexican food chain featuring street tacos, burritos, salads, and bowls. They use fresh fish and shrimp as well as savory meats like chicken, birria, and carne asada. They have a fresh Salsa bar , daily specials, Taco Tuesday, and a pretty reasonably priced happy hour with $1.00 margaritas and $2.00 beers daily from 3-9 pm. They showcase local Arizona artists in their decor and murals they have a friendly staff, so if you're looking for authentic quick Mex, this is the place.

No discount for less than 5 people??? Just asking for a friend ha

Food is freshly made flour tortillas are soft and the service is friendly the place is clean and the salsa bar has lots of choices

Taco Tuesday! I wanted a quick taco meal and was driving by Señor Tacos. I was going to get their Tuesday special of street tacos. Both selections they offered were red meat so I ordered off the regular menu. One grilled chicken taco with a smear of guacamole. They were fairly busy. My order came up in no time. Loads of chopped chicken and guacamole on top. There is a salsa bar with salsa, lemons, grilled peppers and onions to dress up the taco. It was filling and a good stop when you're hungry. Drive through, indoor and patio seating. Shared parking lot.

    A great reason to dine-in

This is becoming a Sunday lunch regular - fish tacos $2 Margaritas! Best deal in north Scottsdale! Then there's the weekly regular order of carne asada street tacos when running errands. I mean it's right next to Sprouts. How convenient! Keeps me from being hungry before grocery shopping. And these tacos are the perfect size for a quick bite in between stops. Just get too! There's so much meat in them one more and you'll be stuffed and ready for a nap. If I'm headed straight home I'll get a carne asada burrito. Perfect for lunch and dinner because I'll cut it in half and save some. But when I dine in, I like to try some thing that isn't so behind the wheel friendly, like the carne asada french fries. Even the half order is oh my God huge, I joked about offering a quarter order. Thankfully it keeps OK to reheat later. So happy to have Senior Taco Express in the neighborhood!

Doesn't look very fancy from the outside, a bit on the fast food scale. But worth a stop when your hundgry and need a fast meal! Open in the morning thru evening til 9pm. They have a drive thru, so that's convienient if you don't want to go in to order. Shrimp, Asada, Chicken, Pork and Vegetarian tacos. Yummy chipotle sauce, diablo sauce, baja sauce and more!

Do yourself a favor and check out the seafood here. We are regulars at this place because their portions are incredibly generous for the price point. Some notable items are the shrimp tacos, fish tacos, shrimp burrito, and shrimp quesadilla. Each shrimp taco has at least 5-6 shrimp, the burrito has 10+ shrimp, and the quesadilla probably has 12+ shrimp. And these are large shrimp we're talking about! They are plump, juicy, and fresh. I have never seen shrimp cooked this well at a fast food place before. The flavor reminds me of shrimp scampi. In fact, this place cooks their seafood better than many sit-down establishments I've been to. The quesadilla comes with 2 quesadillas - enough to feed 2 people. The tortilla is grilled so well with a great buttery / cheesy flavor on the exterior. The side salad was fresh too.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

Plenty of seating including an enclosed patio. Bottomless drinks were replenished quickly. Food was pretty decent overall. Eric brought out a complimentary desert for my mom. CONS- There's no valet service on the weekend, parking is limited. I asked if I can bring a small cake and was told they can't hold it in the kitchen only behind the host stand. You only get one flavor of the bottomless margaritas you can't switch flavors. The bathroom stalls have frosted doors with only about 85% privacy, check out my pic for reference. We loved everything but the pomegranate guacamole needed some salt. The Açaí was liquidity. The Wagyu & eggs were good, small meat portion but it was filling after all the shared plates. FYI- you can't take any food home so eat up :) Shout out to our server Eric he was fantastic!

SumoMaya Updated Yelp Review: 2.0/5…read more This one pains me to write. The last time I dined at SumoMaya was about 10 years ago and at that time I gave it a 5/5-star experience. I remembered it as a vibrant, trendy, elevated dining destination with great food and a fun atmosphere. So when I decided to bring my mom (who had never been) to try their Arizona Restaurant Week menu, I was genuinely excited. Unfortunately... much has changed. Let me start with the positives because there were a few. The inside ambiance is still fantastic. SumoMaya absolutely nails the vibe. Modern, sexy, upscale energy with a lively crowd, gorgeous interior design, and a house DJ spinning deep house that honestly may have been the highlight of the night. If you're looking for a place to grab cocktails, enjoy music, and soak in a cool atmosphere? Sure. For that alone, they still have something going for them. Also, our server was excellent -- friendly, attentive, and professional. Now...the food. We arrived around 7:30 PM and didn't leave until roughly 9:30 PM, which felt excessive considering we were doing a fixed Restaurant Week menu. While our server was great, the kitchen/food pacing was painfully slow. The Breakdown: Maya Roll - 4/5 The clear winner of the night. Fresh, flavorful, well-balanced, and honestly the only dish that reminded me why SumoMaya used to have the reputation it did. Pad Thai Pork "Al Pastor" - 1/5 This was rough. The noodles were noticeably overcooked, the flavor was bland, and overall it felt confused conceptually and poorly executed. Definitely not a dish I'd ever order again. Chilean Sea Bass w/ Miso Glaze - complicated . This dish deserves its own courtroom trial. The first sea bass plates came out undercooked to the point where the fish practically looked ready to swim away. Let's be clear: Chilean sea bass is not sushi. Serving undercooked fish in this context is not just disappointing -- it's a legitimate food safety concern. That initial version? 0/10. Once corrected, the bigger issue became the miso glaze, which was aggressively overpowering. To the point where both my mom and I felt a bit queasy after a few bites. Without lime? 1/5. With lime squeezed over it to cut through the miso overload? 3/5. Even then, it was just... mediocre. I've had far better Chilean sea bass elsewhere -- buttery, delicate, flaky perfection. This wasn't that. Given the glowing reviews I had read about this dish, this was one of the bigger disappointments of the night. Mexican Street Corn - 0/5 As a side, we were served the Mexican Street Corn, and unfortunately this was another major miss. I love Mexican street corn and have ordered it at countless restaurants throughout Arizona, so I was excited to try SumoMaya's version. Sadly, this wasn't even remotely close to what I'd expect from authentic or well-executed street corn. My mom, who is a chef, immediately commented that it tasted like canned corn, and honestly, I had to agree. There was very little of the bold flavor profile that makes Mexican street corn so addictive. The cotija, lime, spice, and cream elements that should make the dish pop were either absent or completely overwhelmed by the watery dish itself. 0/5 stars. In fact, this may have been the worst Mexican street corn I've ever had at a restaurant. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially considering how many excellent versions of this dish can be found throughout the Valley. Bread Pudding - 0/5 I don't say this lightly: possibly the worst bread pudding I've ever had. Dry. Hard. Portions of the bread tasted borderline burnt. Instead of warm, decadent comfort-food dessert vibes, it felt like chewing on a stale kitchen experiment gone wrong. Final Verdict: This is where it gets tough. If we hadn't been dining on the Restaurant Week prix fixe, I honestly would have felt severely swindled, because the standard menu pricing here is not cheap -- and based on the quality of what came out of the kitchen, I simply don't see the value. The only reason this review gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because: Great ambiance Awesome house music / deep house DJ Excellent server One good sushi roll But based purely on food quality? This was deeply disappointing. I genuinely hate saying this because I remembered SumoMaya so fondly, but I will be shocked if this restaurant maintains longevity if this is the level of food consistently leaving the kitchen. Would I come back? Maybe for drinks, ambiance, and the music. Definitely not for dinner.

We were seated within minutes of our reservation time, greeted promptly with water, and made to feel welcome right away. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, answered all of our questions, and gave thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. We started with several appetizers, including the carpaccio, Japanese milk bread, dumplings, and hamachi. Every single dish was memorable and something I'd gladly order again. The Japanese milk bread lived up to its reputation, and the hamachi was especially fresh and flavorful. For our entrees, we ordered the roasted chicken, surf and turf, and a side of Brussels sprouts. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender, juicy, and practically cuttable with a butter knife. The steak was equally impressive, and the lobster was rich, buttery, and packed with flavor. Even the Brussels sprouts were outstanding. The ambiance was another highlight. The restaurant felt upscale and refined without being stuffy. It had a relaxed energy that made it easy to settle in, enjoy the evening, and celebrate. Between the beautiful atmosphere, attentive service, and incredible food, the entire experience felt special from start to finish. We left already talking about our next visit and can't wait to bring friends and family with us next time.

Here's a balanced, professional review that gets your point across without sounding overly harsh:…read more I've dined at Maple & Ash several times over the years, and unfortunately this visit left me disappointed. We came to celebrate a birthday following a difficult family tragedy and were hoping for a memorable evening. While there were definitely some highlights, the overall experience didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation or price point. The truffle baked potato was outstanding, and the Love Pillow pasta was absolutely delicious. However, the steaks were a different story. The ribeye was chewy and not cooked particularly well, and the Wagyu arrived overly charred and crispy on the outside, which took away from what should have been a premium dining experience. What stood out even more was the service experience. Throughout the evening, we noticed managers and staff checking in with many surrounding tables, yet no one ever stopped by ours to ask how our meal was or whether everything was satisfactory. After spending nearly $1,000 for four people, that level of attentiveness should be standard regardless of what guests are wearing or who they are. Another disappointment was the overall atmosphere around the service station. Being seated nearby, it was hard not to notice staff repeatedly slamming and tapping order books and equipment against the countertops. It created a distracting environment that felt inconsistent with the upscale dining experience Maple & Ash promotes. There also seemed to be a lot of staff and management congregating in one area while guests went unchecked. As someone who has lived in Scottsdale my entire life, I left feeling that the food quality and hospitality have declined from what I remember. There are simply too many great steakhouse options in the area that consistently deliver both exceptional food and professional service. Would I return? Probably not. For this price point, I'd choose Steak 44, where I've always felt appreciated as a guest and know what level of service and quality to expect. This version reads as thoughtful and credible, which tends to carry more weight with both readers and management.
