Very popular watering hole, but I am most impressed by their commitment to the local community. Just this past spring, they gave new bicycles (and helmets!) to all the first and second graders at the lowest income school in the city. My good friend is a teacher there, and she said it was enough to bring tears to your eyes, seeing how excited all these children were to get a brand new bike of their own. Most of these kids come from extremely poor families, so this was an supremely kind action. I am so impressed with them for their kindness to these kids!!! read more

I love love lovvveee this place! They have awesome beer for starters! But their wings are the BEST wings I've ever had!!! They aren't so big and fatty and chewy and they're not tiny with barely any meat on them either...they are perfectly in the middle and the sauces are amazing. I've been told they raise their own cows and so all of their meats and burgers are from free range grass fed cows . I love the environment too. I highly recommend this place! listen, the beer is great, but it fails everywhere else. The reason for the poor service and food is due to under-staffing and high turnover due to it. In one word this place different. Offering up different selections from the original Oskar Blues in Lyons it still follows the essential formula of the original location. This place was not quite as good as it's older cousin, but it's a quality substitute THE ATMOSPHERE The first thing you notice about this place is it's unique and fun atmosphere. Built around a 75 year old siloh which is now painted to resemble a can of thier signiture Beer: Dale's Pale Ale and filled with pinball machines and vintage arcade games. They offer up very comfortable lounge chairs while you wait which is a nice touch compared to the typical long hard, wooden bench. It gives off the feel of a kansas city style brew pub. Went here with some friends for a lunch out, We ordered several appetizers, wings, humus nachos, which were all good. Water in mason jars was a cute touch; drinks were good I would recommend the beer flight. The Main dishes were hit or miss for our group 1 entrée was beer can chicken which she liked. So here's the thing. I love Oscar Blues beer. Love it. There's really so many great beers to be had from them. I'm a fan of their beer all the way. I wish I could say the same for the restaurant, but I can't. The burger I order was extremely overcooked & sloppily put together. The bun was almost stale. The fries were soggy, full of grease, & bland. I didn't bother finishing either. The friend I was with order the fish & chips & had a similar verdict... very dry fish, soggy breading, greasy chips. From what I know, that sounds like there could be a problem with their fryer not heating the oil to the appropriate temperature... but who knows. But even so, the burger was underwhelming. Add that to a 45 minute wait & it just wasn't worth it. There are many, many places I would wait even 2 hours for... but I probably won't wait for Oscar Blues again. Our meal was freakin' ridiculous good!!! Had the Jambalaya M&C, the BB King sammich with a turkey patty.....however.........dessert was the disappointment. Ordered the Chocolate Bourbon Balls and NOWHERE on the menu does it state that there are walnuts in it. I cannot eat them and was very saddened that it wasn't mentioned in the description. Good food and beer, it's not really my kind of place though. I tend to only go with my dad or if it's the last option for food/beer in Longmont. The live band is cool, however it's hard to enjoy the company you're with, as it's extremely loud. When I decided to visit my sister in Boulder, she developed an itinerary that consisted mainly of breweries and breweries. Of course, if there was time, I really wanted to visit a brewery, but only if there was enough time between breweries. Oskar Blues just happened to be one of those breweries. Nestled in Longmont, CO (which to an out-of-towner is just basically Boulder), this happening restaurant/brewery was a must visit on my list. We (Chicagoans) just recently started getting the pleasure that is Oskar Blues in our bars, so actually visiting here was a dream I had since before I can remember, which is actually around January 2013. The restaurant itself is pretty solid, with plenty of space for drinkers and families alike. There is a rather large outdoor area which I hear hosts festivals and concerts of sorts in the nicer weather months, but it ended up just being a place where we could drink in the sun at a picnic table with the faint "clanging" of horse shoes in the background. I'm a huge fan of their beers, and I was told pre-visiting that I had to try the wings. After obtaining a nice selection of both, I ordered up the first thing that popped out to me on the menu: Chicken and Waffles. You really can't go wrong with that combo, and I once again did not go wrong. They even had live music from a Bluegrass-y type bearded man to enjoy while savoring my refreshments (not sure why the beard part is important to note, but it is.) Service for my table was a little slow from a couple of the waitresses and they seemed not really concerned about our drink or food orders. They weren't necessarily unfriendly, they just tended to lack in speed and efficiency. This is probably my fault as I tend to drink delicious beers quickly. All in all, this is definitely a great time and is probably an even greater time in the summer. Would definitely go back, but especially if I lived closer. The barbecue pork sandwich has a sweet, Kansas City-style sauce ... if you're a hot pepper/vinegar sauce person AS ALL GOOD PEOPLE ARE, be warned. Ok, this place is yin-yangy. We did a beer sample, based on what we like and what the guy next to us suggested. Of the five, we liked 2, didn't like the other 3. Stay away from anything called scotch ale - it ain't scotch and it ain't ale. The Beeradvocate.com gives the scotch ale its top rating - to each his/her own. Still, lots of other beer choices and a few of their own brews. Service - top notch and because it was Friday night and the place was packed (humongous parking lot/dirt) AND we were on the top floor (and the server had to run down to first for our food and condiments) and was STILL FAST, service gets a 5. Food - Hubba Hubba ordered ribs - next I looked there was nothing but bones left - must have been good. I ordered jambalaya (a little Newman please). We went for Easter Brunch today. We were told we wouldn't need reservations, but we arrived 10 minutes before it opened. We saw people go in so we went in, being greeted by a snotty hostess who told us they didn't open for 10 minutes ( maybe lock the door). She didn't care if we waited in or out, but we waited out. When it was opening time she sat the 2 people before us, but when she returned she sat a group that had just come in because they had a reservation. She said she would seat all the reservations first, she didn't know who told us that because they had over 100 reservations. We couldn't sit out on the patio. By the time we had finished our meal not more than 10 parties had come in (3 having reservations). It took an October snow storm but we finally got to try out the new Oskar Blues here in Longmont. Every night, on the diagonal, on the way home from Boulder my wife and I have watched the steady progress while the place was refurbished (what a cool beer can). It seemed that these first couple of weeks after it's grand opening the parking lot was filled every night. Heck, parking was spilling out onto the dirt fields surrounding the place and I think all the way out to Niwot! We figured okay let the hype die down and let them get the kinks worked out and we'll stop in. So we get this snowstorm (you know the one!) and we left work early to get home, it just happened to be around lunchtime, as we drove up on the new public art thing with the leaves and orb (really I think it's pretty cool) I noticed the lot at OB's is only about 90% full. Hey! It's time to eat! The place looks great, it has more soul than those chain places (like that one...Thank God It's Apple Chili's & Wings!). The walls are filled with memorabilia but it really has a more personal vibe than the chain standards and the blues blasting (in a good way) through the sound system was hot! I am a blues guy and I loved the range they played. We were seated right away in a nice roomy booth and had a great waiter, he knew the menu, explained how things work and some stuff, He was friendly but not overly so...nice experience. I ordered a pilsner, my beautiful wife tried a seasonal pumpkin ale (she's into those fruity beers) both were very good beers! We were pretty hungry, and ordered an appetizer; Boudin Balls with Creole Mustard - these are cajun style meatballs spiced up with cayenne and crawfish sittin' in a spiced crawfish mustard gravy. The meatballs were fantastic breaded and lightly fried, not greasy at all and the spice was a real nice "back-burner" kind of creeps up on ya after you chew. I also order a shrimp Po'Boy and the lovely lady had Salmon Fish & Chips. Both come with a choice off a side of a decently southern yet diverse list. I opted for Cheddar Grits and she for the Oskar Slaw. The Po'Boy was decent, having had my fair share of the genuine article down in New Orleans (pronounced: Nawlens) I will say it didn't come close to those, but what would you expect, it's like expecting Rocky Mountain Oysters to shine from a place in Florida, just ain't gonna happen. But it was flavorful, fresh and filling (3 F's I love). The grits were spot on!!! Mi'Lady's salmon fish & chips were also decent but did have a little more "fishy" flavor than she cares for. The slaw was a working man's slaw, nothing special but put together well. We are planning a return visit soon for a supper with the kids ( it is kid friendly) and we also want to try a "date night" venture for some drinks and blues. That way we can sample all the varying aspects of this place. Okay there are some small kinks/faults whatever you want to call them, I'm not gonna say all was perfect. The presentation on the plates could use a little pizazz and there's a few minor details that should be tuned but overall the negatives were mild compared to the positives. I be one of those crazy people who doesn't drink alcohol, but, for my way of thinking, that just means I can order more to eat and still have a tab less than my beer drinking peeps. I know "Why bother going to a brew pub?" Because it has a good vibe and it is new in Longmont. Right? I've been to Oscar Blues in Longmont 3 times in the past two months. Once late on a Monday (9 to 10:30PM), once during lunch on a workday and once on a Sunday, late afternoon. The Sunday late afternoon was with a whole grouping of family. I've been inside every time since there was snow on the ground and freezing cold each time I went. I've had great experiences every time. There may be times, I suppose, in all fairness, when the staff isn't quite focused, but, every time I've been here the service has been great and I've had a chance to try different things on their menu. I've had the Silo Burger, the Reuben and one of the big salads - everything was fine and exactly what I expected. If I drank beer, I would probably be there even more. I'll have to keep going back until they mess it up. :D read more

Oskars is great. The only downside to the restaurant I can think of is that it can be a big noisy at times, and there is always a bit of a wait (for being seated, getting your food, having your bill brought to you, etc.) but aside from that I have never been disappointed. I used to make fairly regular trips to visit Oskar Blues Grill & Brew in Lyons when a friend was still living there, and the menus ARE slightly different. Everything I've tried on the menu has been exceptional. They have an insane amount of beer on tap, their prices for drinks are fair. Cool blues vibe (with a some New Orleans thrown in), good beer, but the food is average. The scallop appetizer was terrific. Then, it all crashed down. My main course was the pork ribs which were sub par - dry and bland. Waitress, who was great and very friendly, even said the ribs are hit or miss. Of course this was after she brought them out. Tonight it was a big miss. On the sides -- the corn with chilies are good. You can pass on the "garlicky broccoli" as it lacks any flavor and just tastes like steamed broccoli with a tiny bit of garlic powder thrown on. Doubtful that I would come back for anything other than the beer and the scallop appetizer, but that probably will not be enough for me to want to come back at all. read more

Great spot to try a flight of beers from Oskar Blues as well as several other fantastic Brewers around the US and a couple imports (despite the menu saying no imports) such as Avery, Stone, Mikkeller, and Ska Brewing to name a handful. Staff was great and very helpful with recommendations. We called the wrong Oskar Blues location which told us that they did not have food (wish that they thought to mention the one a mile away did), so we ate first which was a bummer. The food looked like it was incredible, so we'll be back next time we're in the Boulder area. Added bonus: pinball and arcade games. Okay, I took a long time to get this reviewed. So here it is: Really go for the happy hour and try at least one thing from their menu. It's a regular pub, but you can find a charmer here. I enjoyed my easy lunch Shrimp PoBoy with side of mac & cheese. It's convenient for that lunch rush hour, delicous with a nice brewed drink. For the appetizer, my friend wanted the pulled pork nachos and the side of sour cream. It was definitely more unique than other pubs I've been to in the past. read more

I first had Oskar Blues at The Ginger Man (a beer bar) in Dallas. Ever since then I have been waiting to get back to Colorado to visit. This location (rather than the original) was much more than I thought it would be with it being a full service restaurant and live music venue. Our trip this day was just for their beer and this place didn't suck! If we only had a brew pub like this in Dallas, but damn those pointless liquor laws. They offer a large assortment of tap beer besides their own, but why would you want to drink another beer besides Oskar Blues when you're at...Oskar Blues. Turns out majority of their beer is great, with my favorites being Old Chub and Ten Fidy. They offer a few with nitro as well. Their beer tasting is five 2oz beers of your choice. After the tasters, the hunger kicked in so we decided to try their bar menu. Their wings are some of the best I've had. Lightly smoked, then fried and sauced. Then came the fried green tomatoes and fried pickle spears, both were delicious. They offer a pretty good happy hour bar menu too. Service was always friendly and fast. I was told that Oskar Blues attracts some great concerts. Their month line up was mostly blues and country with minimal covers. Overall, great place with a lot of character and great beer. The lamb ribs had a pesto-style sauce on top of it and though we wanted to like it, it was a little too dry and the marinara made no impact in terms for flavor and spice. The mashed potatoes and fries ended up being just fine. My crab cake sandwich ended up being a crab cake burger with two slices of bacon burger buns. It was good but not great. The crab cake patty didn't seen crabby enough. The ambiance of the restaurant, is however, great. A relaxed, cool environment where a glass of beer and fries are more than enough. We are definitely big fans! We went here with friends for a beer tasting. I'm big on service and we all agreed the staff here was super friendly and organized. Especially with big events like this, you can really get a crummy server. Ours was so busy but managed to keep smiling, stay calm, and very organized. We didn't have to wait long for our food or beer, and she always got our requests correct. The food was excellent. We all split a whole bunch of appetizers and burgers and had no complaints. We were in the area for a baseball tournament and decided to have lunch at the Oskar Blues. I did look briefly at the Yelp reviews and saw several that were not good. We decided to give it a try anyway - with much regret. The beer was awwwright - which was surprising for a brewery, there was not a large selection. The pizza came to our table raw, yes, that's right, raw - it had been in the oven for less than five minute - we were shocked. The rest of the items we ordered were fair, and far from good. We've been to both this Oskar Blues, and the one up in Lyons. Both are nice places, and have pretty good beer and food. Their southern dishes are normally passable, but not great. Their fried pickles however are really good! And did I mention the beer? They have a fair number of high quality beers on tap, with their own beers being about middle of the road. Old Chub tastes like old sock to me, but they have other beers that I like. I have tried several dishes, including some of their BBQ. I tried their Pulled Pork and found it passable, but nothing special. However... and a big HOWEVER, last time I was there I tried their smoked ribs... WOW! They TOTALLY blow away the Rib House ribs. They had a really great smokey flavor, were cooked to perfection - not "falling off the bones", just with a bit of chew on them and man was it a really nice smoked flavor. The sauce on it was OK, but complimented the smoke flavor enough to make these ribs most likely the dish I eat when I go here. I have a professional quality smoker at home, and I do ribs a lot. I say that, because I become very picky - and while I would still take my homemade ones over these - it's mostly because I like my own BBQ sauce better. Stopped here on the way home from Estes Park, the food was really good, the burgers were cooked and prepared perfectly! Great waitstaff, great beer, really good food. Went on Father's day. Music was too loud to talk to family, but we signed up for that. No biggie. Service was totally sub-par. Had a completely apathetic waitress -- four of our ten plates were dropped on the floor and they did nothing to compensate -- so six people were done at the point that the final four were served. More than 1/2 of us got the wrong order (sides and such). On a good note the bus staff were concerned and friendly. Beer, I'm told, was Very good and wings are outstanding (though they brought us the wrong kind the first time). There is potential here, but they have a lot of work to do. read more
