I have gone to OB now several times; mostly with friends on a busy Fri/Sat night. I hate that its in Longmont, but its a good middle point to meet up with friends that live in Broomfield and Fort Collins! We usually have more than 6 people and the wait is quite long some nights (45-over an hour), but you can enjoy some of their beers while you wait! And like others have said, def try some of their OB/single batch beers; money shot is always a good choice! We usually start with smoked wings in the chub juice and fried pickles, sometimes the pulled pork nachos if there are enough of us! I am a huge fan of the silo burger!!! Ah-mazing mix of burger (ground sirloin or buffalo), pulled pork, bacon, hot sauce and peperjack cheese! What's not to love?!? The silo pizza is great too! They have a burger of the day that is usually tempting, and their other burger/pizzas are a really good selection. AND for those who love southern flair, go on Thursday night and get the chicken and waffles!!! The chicken is smoked and spicy; goes great with the waffles!!! Not something you can eat every day, or even every week, but so worth it when you have a craving! They also offer some great sides; sweet potato fries, cheese grits (soooo good!) and the garlicky brocc are my favs!!! They also have some really good music (usually) and its always a good time. The atmosphere is fun and the food is great! We usually have good service; a little spotty at times. All in all, we make this a regular spot and love it every time! read more

This restaurant hasn't been open long, so they did have a few kinks when they started. Maybe why I see some bad reviews. This is one of my favorite restaurants. I like the food better than the one in Lyons. The staff is incredible, knowledgeable, friendly, and truly seem to enjoy their jobs. They play blues and have live music weekly. The atmosphere is incredible and lively! If you enjoy good beer, they have an incredible selection, with probably 30-40 on tap. The food is outstanding! They just opened so they are continually adding to the menu. Now there is a Sunday Brunch that is fantastic. Pizza, ribs, mussels, biscuit and gravy, burgers, fried pickles, bourbon balls....etc. We haven't found much here we didn't enjoy. I've been here twice now and really enjoy it. This is a great place to go as a local, and to take visitors who want something a little more uniquely Colorado. The "Midnight Toker" ribs are great -- and that's coming from a guy who mostly cooks his own ribs, because most places don't cook good ribs. Get them on the bone with a side of sweet potato fries and something else and you can't go wrong. The beer selection (which recently gained tops in Westword 2010) is great. I think they have about 40 on tap -- with their own brews and plenty of others. A taster flight of five Oskar Blues beers is $8, and $10 for a mix of the others. Slightly disappointed that the night I went, they were out of three of the five beers I wanted to try. But since they have so many to choose from I wasn't too upset. Also, we went on a Saturday night and the live music was going strong. I liked the music, but it was a little loud and it wasn't great to have to shout through most of dinner. If you love beer, this is a good place. I don't like beer and just went for dinner so that my husband could try some of the brews that they only have there and do not bottle. He was very pleased with the brews and can't wait to go back. Since I only had food, thats where my opinion stems. I had a reuben with fresh-cut fries. The fries were limp and soggy and my reuben had a definite southern taste to it (southern and german?), I think it had smoked sausage too but one thing was for sure, they forgot the sauerkraut. Oh man. After many lovely times at the OB in Lyons, an event at the fairgrounds brought me near to the Longmont location. How could I resist? I had a Meyer Lemon Margarita. It was pricey at $8 but I think it was a double... it was strong anyway. Also amazing flavor. Try it with half salt or a sugar rim. Appetizers: fried pickles - these are not thick flaccid things. Several nice spears with sauce. mussels -- beer steamed with all the right spices and garlic bread. sweet and tender. Entrees: brisket plate - This is a huge serving, so worth the price. 12 bucks for several large slices of brisket, comes with two sides, I had the baked mac n cheese and the texas toothpicks. Friend had ribs, a half rack, they were equally good and she tried the dirty rice and collard greens. All sides (ex. toothpicks) are in the good sized (6oz? 8oz?) bowls, packed full. This visit our server was great. She was friendly, attentive, and had a sense of humor. I like that it seems Oskar Blue's hires waitresses for their actual ability/desire/experience to do the job, not just pretty young blondes that can't do a damn thing. read more

That was good problem this fine evening had to go from patio to bar ours selves as the waitress sat at the end of the bar or just chatting. Thank god the bartender was willing to help. I had really high hopes for Oscar Blues in Longmont. Great selection of tap handles, fabulous guest beers, good looking menu. I've eaten there twice now and probably won't be going back. I have two primary complaints. First, most of the staff is just plain incompetent. I'm sure it has something to do with the apparent practice of hiring inexperienced young people to wait tables. Yesterday, our waitress can't tell us what's on tap (vs what's on the list), so try to order a couple beers that aren't really on tap and find out later and have to try again. Food shows up and we have no silverware or napkins. We ask for setups, are told they are working on it, and then nothing happens. Gads. Is the whole place being run by trainees? Second, the food just isn't that good, not nearly as good as you'd find in the lowest southern fry house, especially for the middle-class price (like a $14 blackened fish). I like fried and salty food as much as anyone, but it just ends up being really heavy and greasy and over-seasoned like a big old gut bomb. Hush puppies are leaden and tough. Salads are built around being loaded up with lots of "stuff" rather than having any kind of coherent flavor. I give the fried pickles a 5-star, but that's about it. read more

This is the second time I have been there with my family. Service was very slow the first time but excellent the second time. We had the boudin balls both times and they are delicious, andouille sausage and rice rolled into balls and deep fried served with a spicy dark rough sauce. The Texas Toothpicks (sliced onion rings) were amazing great flavor didn't need anything to dip them in. The jambalaya and gumbo are also very tasty, lots of meat and the perfect amount of spice. The only downside was the crab cakes, they should rename them bread cakes because that's all they were, someone forgot to put any crab in mine they were very disappointing. They have a great patio in the back and plenty of seating inside. I'm not much of a beer person but my brother is and he says their brews are very good. read more

5 stars for the beer, 1 star for the food. The burgers and pizza are ok, but everything else is REALLY bad. The beer on the other hand is absolutely phenom!!! Over 40 glorious taps of heavenly nectar from top breweries across the country. They strive to get the small batches (not just the regulars) from breweries such as New Belgium and Odells. You can always find a beer you'll love there. This place is insanely busy on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We don't even attempt to go then. They need to expand the bar. read more

Go here for smoked & fried chicken & waffles on Thursdays! It's seriously good. I lived in New Orleans for 7 years and this place has lots of NOLA art work and many of the dishes are Louisiana inspired. I will say if you're from Louisiana you'll probably be disappointed in most of their dishes. They forgot to add the crab boil to their happy hour boiled shrimp :( and the shrimp and grits were really bland. Dale's pale is a great brew and they serve more than just their own brew which is seriously cool. During happy hour the place is packed, which can be good or bad depending on what you like. read more

The food...hmmm, well I love the burgers, the wings are top notch, and I have enjoyed a good crawfish boil or two, but in general I find it very overpriced for what you get. There are 156,352 reasons to be here, approximately. While the brew is enough to bring you through the door, the food means you'll want to stay a while. There are no reasons, at all, to pass up the wings. Get them with the Dale's Original Sauce and you'll feel better about life. The specials are hit and miss, but the burgers can't be beat. The restaurant has a smoker nearby, which is a bonus if you dig smoked swine. Otherwise, stick to the beer and burgers and you'll be thankful for the opportunity. read more

Ate here when we were in Boulder with my daughter and friends. First we had great service and when undecided about the draft our waitress asked what brews I preferred then brought back 4 that were brewed like my favs. I selected one high gravity which was right on my palate! The food is good bar food, the burgers, wraps etc par for a good bar. The beer list was phenomenal 5 star all the way featuring many local craft drafts. The ambience was nothing special, and as I said our service really made the evening carrying a 3 star place to 4 stars. I would definitely go back! read more

I am a big fan of this place, and I recommend it to anyone who will listen. The place has a great vibe and feel from the moment one walks through the door. The beer selection is fantastic, something like 45 beers on tap. Most of them are not brewed by Oskar Blues, the ownership maintaining the philosophy that all good beer is welcome in the restaurant. I like that kind of all-inclusive attitude, especially when it comes to beer. There are also a host of one-off beers that Oskar Blues brews that are available here and not marketed anywhere else (try the Velvet Elvis or the Colombian Supremo). The food is wonderfully done, with a slight tilt toward cajun/New Orleans cuisine. Notice that I wrote 'slight tilt'. In no way is this a Crescent City eatery. There is plenty of variety to appease everyone in your group. Wings fans: If you feel you are expert at eating hot wings, ask about the wing challenge. It will challenge you and perhaps you'll earn some schwag for your efforts. My recommendation: Go, go, go. Enjoy the hell out of the experience. read more

I took my wife here for her birthday. I wouldn't have normally thought of a bar and grill for her birthday dinner but she requested I take her to Oskar Blues. I was surprised pleasantly by the food it was very good. Even my 19 year old daughter with a very discerning pallate loved the place. We are looking forward to going back and trying some other menu items. Its a noisier place, had a live band upstairs, and was crowded but it made for a good party atmosphere if that is what you are looking for! Thumbs up! read more

This brewery was absolutely phenomenal! Between the amazing bar scene that they have and the excellent choice of food items, I'm definitely making it a point to come back. My favorite part here is the beer. Typically breweries will display a wide range of their own beers, and perhaps a few extras on tap, but Oscar Blues seemed to take pride in making sure they had plenty of brews from the entire northern Colorado area readily available. Went here for Father's Day courtesy of my Daughter. I've eaten here & Lyons a few times over the years and the food always disappointed me. Yesterday I had the BBQ pork plate with sweet tater fries & crab-corn fritters for sides. While the fritters were tasty, the fries were barely warm and a small portion. The pork was DRY and had more than a few crusty pieces. Smoked pork CAN be moist & tender, but this seemed like it was kept warm in an oven for hours. The sparse sauce served on it had an off taste & was forgettable [no choices on the menu or table]. For better BBQ try Georgia Boys. I've been disappointed in the past with their red beans & rice [dry and crunchy beans], the etoufee` was OK but I've had better, same for the jambalya. If you want Cajun/Creole you're better off at Lucile's if it's early in the day. My Daughter & boyfriend opted for burgers, which they said were good [as well they should for $10]. That being said, the best reason to visit OB isn't the food [although the menu is extensive]- it's the beer & fun atmosphere with live music... A one of a kind place in Longmont to gather with friends. read more

The good: the beer is fantastic. The merely ok: everything else. The music can be nice or annoying, depending on the band, but their food is just so-so. I have had pretty good meals here but I have also had deeply mediocre ones, which is disappointing considering that for the same price or even less there are similar options in Longmont and Boulder that are much better. I keep coming back for the beer, and some of the food isn't too bad. But seriously, guys, turn down the heat on your fryer. And pay more attention in general to your food and you could have a real winner. read more

My wife and I visited Oskar Blues today to celebrate the halfway point of her chemo-therapy. She had iced tea (no sugar) which she said was very good. I had one of their beers - gingerbread flavor. Also very good. We split a jambalaya mac and cheese. Sausage and chicken came with the dish. Both were good, even the chicken which is easy to over cook. The problem was the noodles. Way over cooked! Mushy, and very far from al dente. These noodles weren't cooked just for us - they were most likely pulled from a pot that had been sitting in the stove for a while. Just a guess. Someone who seemed to he a manager stopped by and we discussed this with him. Hopefully the will get this corrected in the future. Stop by for the beer, but don't expect much from the food. Also, the music was too loud. I would expect this at night or on the weekend but not during lunch. read more
