The owner recommended that I try the Shrimp Tobiko, which was so very tasty. Both proteins were such a good quality...I was very impressed. The toppings/additions were all fresh. This is NOT your standard poke spot at all. Try it, you will taste the difference in quality. I also ordered an Osumo Cocktail - Guava Strawberry Marguerita...see my pic. It was so very good with real fruit. I could not believe it; I felt like I was on a trip to a tropical island. *Vibe - Yep, this place has a good chill vibe. Like I wrote above, I felt like I was at a cool foodie spot on a tropical island. I was so relaxed and the background music was all that and more. More like 4.5 stars. This place is a hidden gem. I almost don't want to review it to keep this place on the down low, but it deserves to be busy. The poké is that good. Both the hubby and I have been to so many different poké places around the bay, but this one is one of the best. Truly. The biggest thing is that they pack on the protein. More than the amount of scoops you're supposed to get. Every. Single. Time. And it's always fresh. One day we thought they were out of salmon, but then told us it was in the fridge to keep it fresh. When they reached into the fridge right below the counter, each perfectly cut portion had been placed on parchment paper and was waiting to be placed into a bowl. They also just recently redecorated the dining area. Much more inviting now. They even had several beers on tap. The full menu is on a screen. A very lovely and newly remodeled mom and pop cafe in a quiet plaza on Mission Blvd. They serve poke, crepes, and beer! The workers behind the counter were so warm and kind, as I came in for a Friday lunch and there was no one there. The interior was super cute with Japanese decor and really comfortable looking benches. A great spot to hang out with a glass of beer and a crepe I'm sure! Might have to come back to check that out another time. Naruto bowl: 2 choices of protein for $17. The fish tasted fresh and portion size was respectable. Loved it here. We had poke for lunch and then went back to get the taro milk. Their poke is very fresh, and there's a great variety of veggies and sauces to choose from. Taro milk was also very good. First time trying this place, and my partner and I loved it! We ordered a Naruto poke bowl, two crepes to share, and some milk teas to try. Everything was fresh and delicious, the portions were generous, and the service was fast, especially considering there was only one person working. I found this location by accident. I had no clue what I wanted to eat after church on Sunday, and we had baseball to get to down the street. My MIL chose to go to Jack in the Box in the same parking lot, but I didn't want fast food. Poke was the perfect compromise--fast like fast food, but healthier for me. When I walked in, I was a little confused about where to order. I guess they sell crepes too, but Poke is ordered on the left side. The young kids taking my order looked like they didn't know what they were doing at first. She figured it out and got me my bowl. I ordered the Naruto Bowl with a base of white rice and greens. I asked for imitation crab salad and shrimp tobiko. The portions were very generous. I continued to add the veggies--cucumber and carrots. The cucumbers were frozen; she literally put ice in my bowl with the cucumber and didn't try to take it out. At other locations, they usually put the toppings in a separate bowl to mix them well with the sauce of your choice, but they didn't do that here. I didn't mind it, but I think it's good for people to know. I finished the bowl with spicy mayo, corn, edamame, fried onion, and furikake. The bowl was really good. I especially liked the crunch from the fried onion and the flavor on the shrimp. I had enough space to mix my bowl, so I still got a good bite every time. The location is a bit hidden so it did not seem busy. I definitely recommend I will definitely come back for lunch when in the area. read more

We got a big osumo bowl with 1 scoop of the tobiko shrimp, salmon, tuna poke, and spicy tuna. The spicy tuna was so unbearably fishy. It made it hard to finish eating the bowl. The salmon was interesting/funny because it came from a different container and was not cubed like the rest of the fish . The sauce was good but for some reason my bowl was really liquidy. Their sauces are not that thick so it seeps all the way down to the bowl. Overall: 2/5 wanted to enjoy it but the fishiness ruined the meal read more

They have a lot of different things on their menu, even drinks but when I asked for a milk tea they said they didn't have quite a few of them... understandable since it seemed a little slow that day and they had a lot of stuff on their menu. Still, would be nice. I have been here before when it was ice cube creamery and noticed they still had some of the historic furniture from before (berkeley stadium seat tables) and new decor. This place is great! The poke bowl's toppings are probably some of the freshest I've had. The lower stars are more so for the cost of the options and the boba. I got a thai iced tea with boba and the boba was all stuck together and somewhat soggy/over cooked? I'm not sure how to describe it's texture. It just wasn't separated and sticky to eat. The thai iced tea tasted good though! I'll just order it next time without the boba. Be prepared to spend over $20 for poke though. The boba was around $6+ I think. read more

Despite this place not considered 'new' anymore, it has the least amount of reviews likely due to location in comparison to the other poke restaurants. Osumo is located in a residential neighborhood and unless a customer is visiting a friend, there's no reason why a non-resident would be in the area. However I hope Osumo's multiple 5 star reviews will speak for the quality and service itself. I hope that after their name spreads and gain popularity, they continue to serve protein generously. I had a small bowl of 3 scoops of protein and premium toppings included for $14. No complaints at all because unlike the Mowry owner, I was felt like I was served the adequate portions of food I paid for. My bowl was full, aesthetically pleasing, and savory. What makes Osumo stand out from the others is the lovely ambience for dine-in, their craft beers on tap (Original Pattern is the GOAT), a delicious welcome drink of iced tea, and really fresh ingredients (both the fish and veggies are very high quality). Interesting poke with unique, fresh ingredients! It definitely doesn't get much foot traffic, so it was very dark and empty when we went in. The guy behind the counter was extremely polite and pleasant. The interior is super cute! Some of the fish was unavailable, and others looked like they were gone but it's actually just because they want to keep things fresh and not leave it out since foot traffic is so low. Just ask, and they should have it. You can get sashimi cut sushi-style or poke style, but personally I think the poke style is easier to eat. Love that you can customize the dressing for the fish, then add additional sauces on top of the veggies. LOVE that they have tamago! It was super yummy. Overall the flavors were phenomenal! Really good poke place! I frequent this shopping center a lot but I only just tried this poke place last week. It's not a great location, which is a bummer cause the food was good! I went at lunch time on Wednesday and the place was empty. It's actually pretty nice on the inside, I could happily eat inside and enjoy the decor. I got a 3 scoop bowl and the lady doing the scoops was generous, they weren't little wimpy scoops. The toppings were good and she was on it with the sauce. I hate getting a poke bowl where the sauce didn't really reach the rice. She gave it a good squirt when I asked for some added sauce. All the fish I got was fresh. I tried both kinds of the premixed tuna, and they were good flavor and texture. I also tried some shrimp in like a mayo sauce. It was different than anything I've had at poke before. It was good and I'd probably have it again depending on what I wanted that day. The price was pretty reasonable for the 3 scoops I got, I left happy with the experience. Really expensive for what you get. The menus on yelp are outdated. It's $17 for a regular bowl. Mine was mostly rice... it's supposedly 3 "scoops" of fish -- well I had 4 pieces of salmon in mine for 2 "scoops." That's insane lol. In addition, the fish was sinewy, which made it hard to eat. I also ordered sushi rice, but it was hardened in gummy clumps! If it's old rice, just don't sell it to the customer! What a horrible business practice. We live close to this spot, but this was a terrible experience. read more
