Nice Deli -rude service So I came here a few weeks back and order a churrasco sandwich, prosciutto and mozzarella hero and an Othello slider. When I asked for a recommendation I was told to just look at the menu on the wall. The good thing is that all sandwiches, heros were fresh. when we brought them home. The deli has a nice awning and is well lit compared to many delis, however customer service could be a bit better with more friendly service.

Thanksgiving plate! Includes chicken chowder and rice pudding

I'm usually by myself for Thanksgiving and this year, for some reason I was feeling especially festive and therefore wanted to have a proper Thanksgiving dinner. But it was already almost dinnertime by the time I realized that I wanted that. I looked for some single-serve dinner on reddit and hit up restaurants nearby, but as it was last minute most places had limited options. I talked to my mom (who used to live in the US but then moved back to Japan) and she recommended checking out the local deli so I did - and I hit jackpot at Othello's Deli! I felt awkward asking for the Thanksgiving plate because I was by myself, but the guy at the Deli was super happy to get the food ready for me. He enlightened me with background story of his Thanksgiving food - that there are many families that come in last minute to grab like eight plates from here and he went through 35 turkeys this year to prepare the food! He assured me that I'm going to love his food, and I did. Unfortunately they ran out of mashed potato by the time I was there (around 5:30pm), but they made up by adding extra stuffing and the sweet potato. The food was a little on the salty side but it was totally acceptable and worth it. The plate was $20, which was the most reasonable dinner I could find around the neighborhood. The stuffing and the sweet potato was amazing. I'm so excited thinking about the leftovers I have right now. I'm so grateful that Othello's was there when I was coveting Thanksgiving food! I hope they keep it up. I heard good things about their sandwiches too so I'll try that next time.

This is what they consider to be a "double". This wimpy sandwich and coke were $10.50
    Chris W.

This place is absurdly expensive. It's a bodega! The prices don't match the type of establishment. Literally went in and ordered two double bacon, egg, and cheeses and two bottled cokes, and the total came to over $21!! How is that possible? When I got home and ate the sandwich, it was hardly a "double". Fairly wimpy for a $10.50 meal. They also charge $27 for a 12 pack of white claw! You can literally buy 24 cans for that price from Costco. That's a 50% markup. I will never ever return here as long as these prices are this high.

GREAT deli close to Astoria park. It's my go to for a breakfast sandwich, a lunch deli sandwich or a late night guilty pleasure. The staff is super friendly and personable! They also have a great selection of beers and other snacks... more of an upscale deli. Definitely for checking out !

This place used to be so good. However, lately the quality has changed. I just ordered a BLTA from there (I've had several before) and it was terrible. I then sat outside to eat lunch and some loser was sitting out there chain smoking, so I left. $10 for BLT... I don't think so.

The deli itself is a no frills deli. There are a few seats inside as well as outside. This place looks exactly like a deli would look like, but the sandwiches were pretty solid. There are a shit ton of different sandwiches, so take your time looking at the menu. The guys running the counter run it like a well oiled machine, they are quick and efficient. The food: Derek Jeter- chicken cutlet, deluxe ham, bacon, melted Swiss & Russian dressing. This was a solid sandwich, but it could be tweaked. In terms of the good, the chicken cutlet itself and the Swiss cheese were excellent, the Russian dressing was nice. The bread I wasn't too crazy about, it was on the hard/dry side. My friend got his sandwich on Italian bread with sesame seeds on his which was the much better option. Will definitely come back. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=eaLkhxUxflu7ZwLkyCgtVw&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Frank Sinatra- Prosciutto, Provolone, fried eggplant, roasted peppers & balsamic vinaigrette. I was thinking this sandwich would be dynamite, but I thought the sandwich was too salty and there really wasn't the balsamic vinaigrette present. The sandwich just seemed dry and salty. And the eggplant was chewy. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=SxAlpdIzQhtZfXysJJi5GA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA

Most Asian…read morerestaurants in this neighborhood are fancy sit-downs, so it was exciting to see a quick, casual stop for Asian "finger food" (for a lack of better word) within my vicinity. Joju specializes in modern Vietnamese cuisine, serving meals like bahn mi, loaded fries, and rice meals. The menu recently added soy garlic wings, and since I am a fiend for Asian-style fried chicken, I of course had to have it. While all of the beverages looked tempting, especially their non-alcoholic soju refreshers, I needed caffeine to offset the afternoon slump that was about to follow, so I ordered a Vietnamese coffee. The wings were huge! It was notably crunchy, saucy, and juicy. There was a decent skin to meat ratio, (I so hate biting into a mouthful of breading), and the meal came out piping hot. It was clear the chicken had been fried per order. Those who know me know that I can't live without rice and would eat it with almost any meal, including fried chicken, so I did request it on the side, although the wings don't come with it. The man who took my order did me a solid and served it with mine, anyway. Good lad! I've been wanting to try Vietnamese coffee for a while now, and it was everything I imagined it would be. Sweet with a bitter backend - but not too bitter! I'm still new to coffee, and I pucker up at anything too intense. This was just right. My meal at Joju satisfied me, mind, body, and soul. I hope it is here to stay, and I hope that a shop like this is a catalyst for other quick Asian food stops to follow. Korean and Filipino restaurants - I'll be waiting!

I can't emphasize how excited I am for them to be here, bringing one of our best neighborhood bites to a new neighborhood which desperately needs more affordable and diversified options. You would be remiss if you didn't get the banh mi or kimchi fries, and their monster rolls which are a newer creation but are essentially giant lumpia with any and all of the sauces they have available. Another plus is that they have pretty creative drinks, like their refreshers and virgin mojitos, for a nice little drink that isn't too calorie-dense depending on what you get. Welcome to the neighborhood Joju and I wish you all the success.
