Lemongrass chicken bowl, classic banh mi, kimchi fries
    Megan Y.

Quick and casual fast food Vietnamese spot without a bathroom. The banh mis and bowls are generous with the meat and pickled veggies, and there are lots of options for customization. Loaded kimchi fries were very flavorful, although the toppings made them a little soggy.

Stopped by Joju and got the Joju bowl, I asked the staff what they would recommend and they said that the ones with the hearts are customer favorites and this was one of them. It has both the spiced ground pork and a pork sausage. It also came with kimchi, pickled radish over a bed of rice. I also got the spicy green sauce which was definitely spicy. The spot itself is very small only 4 small tables inside where you can wait for your food. Not really a spot to eat. Overall likely return as I want to try the sandwiches as well.

Got takeout from Joju with my parents this past weekend, and it did not disappoint! The inside of the restaurant is bright, airy, and gets tons of natural light. They've got a few tables inside in case you want to eat in, but it seems like a lot of their customers get takeout. When you walk in, there's a worker at the counter who greets everyone warmly. If you're not in the talking mood, there's a kiosk off to the side where you can order your food. It's honestly nice to have both options available. I've seen tofu bahn mi sandwiches at other Vietnamese spots, but this was my first time seeing one with seitan. The seitan was seasoned perfectly, and had the perfect bite to it. I paired it off with kimchi, spicy mayo, and spicy green sauce- all the flavors melded together perfectly. Since it was a hot day, I also got the lemon Thai iced tea, which was just as delicious as the food. Definitely check out this spot if you're in the mood for delicious Vietnamese food!

They had a sign for new fried chicken wings so I had to try and WOW they were delicious! Got the soy garlic wings, which were large, flavorful, crispy outside and juicy inside. Def coming back for more!

This place has been eyeing me every time I leave the subway station and it has finally pulled me in, and I am soooo glad it did! A modern take on Vietnamese sandwiches and they are amazing. The sandwich I got was the Caramel Pork Banh Mi which was reeeeeally good. The pork is cooked in a caramel sauce which is such a unique flavor combination. I got it because it sounded weird, and it definitely was weird but in the most delicious way possible!!! Paired so well with the cucumber and I also loved the shredded carrot on top. The bread was toasted really well and I got two sauces on the side to sample with the sandwich. The spicy mayo was like any standard one so it was good, but the spicy green sauce was incredible!!! Definitely getting more of that next time. I also tried the Joju fries, which were double fried so they were sooooo crispy. Like impressively crispy I loved these SOOOOO MUCH. They were topped with all the same toppings in the sandwich so it was such a good item. The portion felt large too so I would totally come back and order just this as the meal. Got a thai tea too because why not, its as great as any thai tea is. Yum! The inside of the store was cute but I ordered my stuff to go, it traveled well for the 5-7ish minute walk before I ate. I will definitely be back to try other items because this was awesome!

Omg my new favorite place to get banh mi in upper east side! The portions are ginormous. I got one Bulgogi banh mi and a caramelized pork banh mi. They were both great, but I think I prefer the bulge. The meat was super fat, but it was interesting that they drained it so oils weren't falling out of your sandwich. I also got a Vietnamese iced coffee and spring roll appetizer. Same thing with the spring rolls, they weren't overly oily. The spring rolls were also served with a delicious house made sweet-and-sour sauce. You can either order at the front or through a kiosk if you don't wanna talk to anybody. The food was brought out fast. The indoors has four different tables.

Excited to see Joju open their 4th location! I've had their sandwiches before in Flushing, and they're just as good as I remembered. I went with the #1 Classic sandwich and a Lemon Thai tea, which came to about $19 -- not bad, especially in UES. I grabbed takeout during their soft opening. The space was small but cozy, and the staff was welcoming. I'll come back for more whenever I get the chance. Definitely check it out if you are around the neighborhood.

Tried Joju on a weeknight right before they closed for the day. Decided on the classic, since that's usually my go to at banh mi spots! I thought overall, the banh mi was alright - the pickled carrots and radish were great though. I would've liked more fishy/funk in my late and stronger flavors for the meat. Also, I felt the bread was a bit tough. Overall, would come back if I'm in a pinch for a quick meal. + points for nice service!

#5 Caramel Pork Banh mi + #8 The "(JoJu)" Banh mi + Mojito
    Marcus L.

Overall, Joju is a good banh mi option. Their supposed "modern" take on the banh mi expectedly leaves you eating a pretty unique sandwich. Their mojitos are also great, though a bit pricey. Food: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Experience: 4/5

Tried the #1 selling banh mi with bulgogi beef. It was just okay. Too much carrots and the sandwhich fell apart as you can see. I added and egg to which I don't recommend for that combo. Yeah sorry.

This place will be popular for quite some time. Perfect location and the food is good. Classic Banh Mi - got the green sauce and sriracha mayo on the side. Excellent 5/5 Bbq pork bowl - it was good. Next time I want to try the caramelized pork. 4/5.

Delicious banhmi sandwiches! What a great welcomed addition to the area. Staff are friendly. There are a few tables to sit and eat there. It just opened and looks very clean. They have a BOGO (free chicken banhmi with purchase of another banhmi) for their grand opening on 1/25. I had the classic banhmi. I also tasted my friend's banhmi with the sausage and egg. So delicious Their bread is so good. Their pickled shredded carrot is so tasty. I would go back and try their bowls next time.

I ordered "Plain Pho", which is described as just broth and noodles, no garnish or meat. After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.
