Venue is super duper cute, clean, and minimal. Neutral colors and sleek decore. Service was phenomenal! The servers are so attentive and patient. So happy the row finally has a coffee cafe! Great menu, everything sounds really good, so far though I've only had their coffee which I've really enjoyed. Really want to try the food sometime! Very open, modern layout, way bigger inside than I expected. They also have a covered patio which looks nice! Service is quick for as busy as it gets! Otherside Café is the newest installment to the Riverpark Shopping corner. It's very spacious and has a very Orange County vibe. The high ceilings and skylights make it feel very bright and welcoming while still offering a cozy feel. I ordered the OG breakfast burrito and a nitro cold brew coffee. My breakfast buddy got the Matcha iced coffeegreen tea and salmon, avocado toast. For a coffee shop breakfast burrito it was ok. I don't think these are made on site, but it still had good flavor and was filling. I really enjoyed my nitro cold brew and I love the fact that they offered me ice! Typically nitro cold brew coffee is served with no ice and if you're not chugging it, it can get room temp. Mine stayed icy cold the whole time! The service here is fast and we were checked on multiple times during our stay, which is fairly uncommon for a casual coffee shop, but I really appreciated it! They don't have Wi-Fi here! The only Wi-Fi is the free Wi-Fi that's offered by River Park? Normally this wouldn't be an issue and I would just use my phone's hotspot, but the cell service is also an issue since so many people are using their hotspots. The spiced ube latte was different and delicious, but could be stronger coffee wise. The chili salt really gives the latte character (8/10). The honey saffron latte was mid, just mildly sweet and again not much coffee flavor (6/10). The smoked salmon toast had micro greens, capers and some white crumbly things on it that we couldn't identify; flavors worked well together but not memorable (7/10). Flavors were good but pricy for a slice of toast ($14); same price as the Tri tip burrito. The burrito was small; the tater tots in it were crispy and gave the burrito more character, but otherwise flavor wasn't memorable (6/10). Both the toast and burrito had a hint of citrus to it. Music was too hip and loud for a brunch place. I don't think they want people to stay to study or work there with the loud music. Too loud for a meeting or date; just eat and leave. LA vibe catered to 20 year olds to come be seen in their athleisure wear and better than thou attitude. Decor and flooring is sterile and modern, needs some artwork or something for character. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they were very patient when explaining the menu items. I just wish the alternative milks they had were on the menu, since I wasn't sure what types they had. Needed lunch and hadn't been to The Otherside since it first opened. Being that it was 1:30pm on Friday, there were a handful of parking spaces available. I'm sure if I had come earlier parking would have not been possible. First time trying their lunch menu. Ordered the Almond Chicken bowl. Lots of different textures and all healthy. The chicken was super soft and tender which was a nice surprise as often places serve dry chicken breast. Everything tasted great that I forgot about the avocado sauce on the side. I did use a bit of it and it was a tasty compliment to all of the ingredients in this bowl. Another plus is this is light, but quite filling. I ordered take out and the bowl was ready fairly quickly. Service was quite quick. The restaurant was full of people which can be somewhat loud. Not a place for a quiet lunch. Also, where you stand in line to order obstructs the staff walking through to serve food sitting at tables. There is really only room for someone at the register ordering, then a decent sized gap for walking through between sides of the restaurant, and then one person standing just inside the door. This is quite awkward when you standing inside and also causes the ordering line to mostly be outside. Who wants to stand outside in the summer heat or cold winter months? Especially for people that do not have the luxury of waiting loner than even 30 mins. During my visits I did attempt to get some work done however this seems to be more of a social meeting place. It's quite loud inside and outside. And with the constant shuffling from waiters running around it can be distracting as well. As for what I ordered : - Garden burrito 10/10 Sauces that come with it are delicious and the chipotle aioli mixed in with the egg and perfectly grilled veggies is just WOW. It's also massive and price is fair. Taste has been consistent each time, no complaints at all. I will and have gone back just for it despite how much I despise a long wait time. - Iced vanilla oat milk latte 3/10 on same level as a Starbucks latte. Their avocado caesar salad is DELICIOUS. Consistent in taste and portion size. I probably eat too many of these to be healthy lol. Their snickerdoodle cookie (especially warmed up) is probably the best cookie I have had at a cafe. The sugar on the outside gets a little caramelized, so it is a little crunchy while the inside is still soft and chewy. Their dark chocolate pecan (w/ sea salt) cookie is also delicious. Anytime my mom hears I am going to be within a 5 minute vicinity of Otherside, I am coerced into buying one for her. We have also come here JUST for cookies. Regarding drinks, they are kind of just okay. Nothing spectacular, and the coffee drinks (lattes and such) are kind of watery. The matcha latte with ube cold foam, one of their spring drinks, was tasty but a little too sweet. I'd like to try it again, maybe modifying it to be less sweet, and see if it is a better experience. If you are meeting a friend and hoping to hear them talking to you, I would suggest sitting outside. The ceilings inside are quite tall and not very good at sound dampening. Sometimes, the noise level inside can get kind of unbearable. I've gone a couple of times now so I feel comfortable finally leaving a review. I went the week after they first opened and there was as expected with new businesses, a line out the door. The line moved quickly. The people working the counter did not seem irritated like most places with a line out the door would be. They were friendly, patient, and answered all my questions about the menu. I ordered a hot chai latte and OG burrito. My husband ordered an iced vanilla latte and their hot breakfast sandwich. There was seating outside with heaters which I was ever thankful for. Our drinks arrived first and promptly. We did have to wait a while for the food but the manager was very attentive and assured us that they were working out the kinks which I, again took in account for knowing they just opened. Lots of people were working or reading, others were chatting with their company. I came here to study with a friend and found that they did not have wifi or readily available outlets. I ended up getting a steak burrito togo and it was ready for me in about 20 minutes. It's comically small for a burrito. However, this was truly a delectable bite. I've been here three times now and am re-writing this now that the initial honeymoon phase is over from my first visit. This place feels different depending on what time you go. The first two times I went was later in the evening and the vibe was a lot more chill, great ambiance, and with no wait! My most recent visit I went on a Friday morning around 9:50 and the line was out the door! We waited in line for around 10 minutes. Once inside, it was packed, bustling, and the music was blasting. If you're looking to study somewhere, I don't think this is the optimal place to do so (unless you have noise cancelling headphones). To be honest, their drinks are just okay. I've tried all their specialty lattes and their matcha and I wasn't wowed by any of them. Especially if the line is out the door, I do not think it is worth the wait for their drinks. I think the flavor combinations are really cool in theory but I felt like the drinks themselves weren't very flavorful in execution. For their matcha, you have your choice of getting it with different syrups. My second visit I got a matcha with honey lavender syrup and I felt like I couldn't really taste the honey lavender or the matcha, just the milk. However, their food is SO GOOD which is not a surprise considering the owners of this place also own Saizon, Butterfish, Heirloom, Mayd, etc. They KNOW their food. Their breakfast burritos are incredible. I've had their OG Breakfast Burrito and their Steak Breakfast Burrito and both are easy 5/5s. Their pastries are also super yummy!!! I tried their cookies since other reviews were raving about them and I can agree they are pretty good! Their service is also really top tier. They seem to really care about their customers and always check in. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for their drinks but I would definitely come here again for their food, the service, and the general vibe.
