I always love ordering from ottos. Now that they have a place on read street it's more accessible than driving down to old port. They have their 4-6 happy hour where you can get a free slice woo woo! Came in for some meatballs and a chicken and Basil Pizza. The meatballs came out within 5 minutes; we ended up saving the sauce for dipping our crust in! The pizza was on point as always. I grew up on pizza in Brooklyn NY so it's usually hard to impress me on pizza places but Otto's knows how to cook a pie. read more

Otto's is fantastic for it's inventive flavors, efficient website/delivery service, and it's DELICIOUS high quality pizza! I live in the west end so this location is the one that provides free delivery to my house. 8 times out of 10 the pizza delivered is good and hot. It usually takes about 45 min and I love the easy process on their website. You can create an account where they save your address, it's easy to pick pizzas (and the online menu is always updated with the monthly special), you're even able to customize them. Otto's is good about regularly rewarding you with $5-$10 off coupons in your account (plus Sundays and Mondays you earn double points per $1 spent!). I also appreciated that recently when ordering 4 largest for a group, they even brought us paper plates and napkins with the order free of charge! That's above and beyond service. In terms of the pizza itself, it is made with the most perfect cornmeal-encrusted thin crust. I'm not into the mashed potato flavor (it's like too much dry starch and bread together) and the only other disappointing one I've had was the buffalo cauliflower - it was large pieces of cauliflower that totally weighed down the thin crust so it didn't seem to work. Every other flavor I've had I loved! Their simple four cheese, margherita, and pepperoni are delicious (which is the good sign of a solid pizza place in my book), and then I'm a BIG fan of the pulled pork/mango, the butternut squash/cranberry/ricotta, and the October special of pumpkin/sage/sausage. It's always packed! If you're looking for a quieter location, head to John Roberts Rd in South Portland or Cottage Rd in South Portland (cool place in the summer because they open a large door since it used to be a garage). First time in Portland. And we were told that the spot to be in for pizza is OTTO's. Went in at around 6:30pm on a Saturday night. We were greeted by a less than enthusiastic waiter, which I can completely understand. However more so than enthusiasm, or the lack thereof. What had us truly disappointed was the pizza. Now, the fact that I'm a New Yorker is not why this pizza sucks. Quite frankly Rose's bagels blow anything from NY out of the water. So no, the issue is the fact that my hands were literally covered with charcoal after eating a tasteless slice. Let's start at the beginning, ordered a cheese pie 12". Comes out looking like a margarita, (cheese on bottom with watery tomato sauce in spots on top). It had 0 taste, aside from burnt crust. Literally the first time in my life I resorted to putting salt on pizza. The underside was covered in burned to a char specks of what I can only describe as charcoal from lack of cleaning the oven. The after taste was so bad we couldn't get past it without a whole cup of water. But we were starving so we did. But look at the pics. Literally walking distance and I did not notice. Better late than never. Different location same great pizza. Decided to try something new and ordered the Sriracha chicken and avocado pizza. This pizza was so good. The cheese, the chicken oh my goodness but not sure if I am a fan of the cooked avocado. It will take some getting used to. The crust is thin as always but this was a little chewy; exactly what I was craving. With the addition of a glass of wine felt like I was fine dining right in my home. My order never arrived. I waited for two hours, called three times to check in and was told it should be in the way. My last call I was told the driver said he delivered it and already went home. I asked for a refund. So disappointing as we stayed up late to wait for our dinner which never came and most other places in Portland were already closed for takeout. read more

This new location is great! Always a great selection for slices, nice bar, lots of tables of various sizes. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Only downside is a lack of parking spaces. Don't forget to join their loyalty program! They also have a punch card for slices which is nice - buy 10 and get one free! The combinations may sound weird, but don't be discouraged. My favorites are the mashed potato/bacon and the sweet potato/ricotta pizzas. read more

What used to be a solid 4 star pizza place has sadly gone down to 2 stars. We ordered takeout on a Friday night from the Read street location as it is close to our house. We ordered a large cheese pizza with extra cheese. After bringing it home we realized half of the pizza was burnt, and for a "large" pizza this looked rather small. We called back over and they offered to give us credit for a different time, or make us a new pizza. Back over we went to pick up a new pizza. This pizza was even smaller than the first one, but it didn't look burnt so we were okay with the size. Little did we know the bottom on the pizza was black. There were also little black flakes on both of the pizzas. I am not sure if it is just that they need to clean the ovens or what is happening, but we will not return to this location, and possibly not to Otto's again. read more

We've been to the location in the Old Port and after hitting up a few breweries in the Industrial Park were happy to find this one not far away. The tap list was great and my wine was pretty good too. We started with the meatballs and loved the sauce. We got the sausage, broccoli rabe & red pepper flake pizza as well as the chicken and basil pizza. Both were great and really hit the spot. There's also an area that serves just slices if that's what you prefer. We'll definitely be back the next time we are in the area. read more

We've ordered pizza twice from OTTO. The first put me off a bit. I was not a fan of the Congress St. venue. Some months later my husband and I ordered a pizza for delivery. We live within 3-4 minutes away from the Read St. location. The second pizza was LOADS better than our first experience with Otto. The pie arrived hot and had plenty of fresh pepperoni and cheese. As we were heading to Portland's airport, we decided we were in the mood for pizza and had heard good things about OTTO and this location is literally 5 minutes from the airport. One of the best things about OTTO is that you can just order slices! So if you want to try multiple different pizzas, this is a great way to do it. On this occasion, Mr David and I were able to agree on our pizza choice, so we went ahead and ordered a pie. Only small and large sizes here at 12in or 16in. Since we were literally going to be jumping on a plane in a couple hours, we went with the 12in Sausage and Vidalia Onion pizza and supplemented with Caesar and BLT salads. One of the best parts on the menu at OTTO is the unique flavor combinations. I wish that we had had more time to try the entire menu, but we didn't. One pie that sounds particularly interesting and wonderful is Sriracha Chicken and Avocado pie. Hopefully I can get back to try it! Both salads were fresh and made with quality ingredients and I literally have nothing bad to say about them. The Sausage and Vidalia Onion pizza was to die for. The particular pie is tomato based and although I did feel like the tomato base needed to be cooked down a little more (read: it tasted a little tinny) the flavor was still there. The sausage didn't leave the pizza feeling overly greasy and there were just the right amount of onions. The crust was thin and crispy which is my pizza crust preference. The building is awesome and industrial and the booth seating is massive; as in I'm pretty sure you could seat 10-12 people in a booth comfortably. The pizza kitchen is open and it was fun to watch the pizza being made. The service we received on this visit wasn't very friendly or welcoming, but we by no means received poor service. read more

In a neighborhood that has its fair share of longstanding townie establishments, I love that Otto's new place is just a hop, skip, and short drive away from my house. What took you so long to get out to Riverton? The pizza quality is top notch and remains unchanged (best in Portland?), the service is good, and the location is perfect. The only thing I find hard to swallow is that the price of 2 slices and a beer is $16-17. Deep down inside, this seems a tad bit high to me, although I know I know both will be amazing. How can I even begin to articulate my love toward this majestic prince-charming-of-pizza places (and this location in particular). Even when I drive by, my heart flutters. The illuminated "OTTO" letters that adorn the building are what I envision exists when people discuss the proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel." The mashed potato/bacon/scallion pie is kind of epic and signature, and when I'm having decision issues, that's my default. Let's be real....It's kind of common sense that 1) bacon is always the correct answer 2 ) Mashed potatoes? #praisebe 3) And scallion? ...there's my VEGETABLE. Aka, that means the whole pizza is healthy. Obvs. I could detail all of the many different pizzas I've tried from here, but why body shame myself even further. Not quite sure what happened to my visit here but really not the best experience at this location. Ordered a pizza and brought it home, the crust was burnt and had bits of charcoal pieces (see pic). Complete loss of appetite. Called the store and they gladly offered to replace the pizza at no charge and delivered. Upon receiving the second pizza, it was missing the pepperoni topping I ordered. Had to call again but somehow the person had a real nonchalant attitude...felt like it wasn't a big deal to them and they were even happy and quick to refund my card. I understand that issues may arise and challenges in quality but cmon guys, charging a $25 premium for a pie of pizza I would expect better quality control than dominoes or ceasars.
