The pizzas I think are great! The salads are good as well. But the everything garlic knots, I've had tons of bread knots and these ones were terrible! Hard, no crispy outside soft inside it was dense and chewy. Won't get those again! read more

I ordered pizza from Otto's on Read Street in Portland on Friday, October 12th for a party in my office. When the Pizza's were over 25 minutes late I called the store to find out where my pizzas were. Turns out, they delivered the pizza to the building, and gave them to a random person because the receipt auto populated based on a previous order from the same building (what???). They didn't call me, or anything. Just gave the pizza to another person. When I called the manager offered me a 50% discount. However, I was charged $70 on a $128 order, which isn't 50%, but that is splitting hairs. When the pizza was delivered I asked for a receipt, to which the delivery person said I would have to call the store to get. I have called the store three times today. The first time the kid answered and told me to call back at noon when his manager was less busy. The second time I was greeted with "hold please". No hello. Not only that, after over 3 minutes of holding, they never came back. I am now on my third call to Otto's pizza today. I sat on hold for many minutes, and the call was then disconnected, without anyone answering the phone. Absolutely terrible customer experience. I have typically had good experiences with Otto's, but not with the Read Street location. read more

I want to love Ottos but I can't. I have a love hate relationship with ottos. Having tried every type of pizza they make, the combinations of toppings are some of my favorite and the tastiest in Portland, however the crust tastes like cardboard. I also love thin crust pizza but in this case I'm only happy that its thin crust so I dont have to eat as much of it. If it was just crust as the negative and toppings as a positive I would give this a 3 star review. However, on many of the pizzas I have had, I feel like they skimped on the amount of toppings so that's why i am giving it 2 stars. I've wished I could scrape the toppings off the crust to just eat that, unfortunately there is not enough toppings to make that worthwhile. If they improve the quality of their crust and balance the amount of toppings, then this would be a 4 or 5 star review. read more

Ordered delivery Thursday night and the website said 45-60 mins. Pizza shows up after 2 hours cold. I paid $2.50 each per topping added and they gave me comically small amounts of toppings, and to top it all off.... the pizza was not cut the crust was unevenly cooked and since it was more doughy in some parts than others it would tear when I would attempt to cut it up. Ordered delivery to the West End. I got the Margherita Pizza and it arrived crispy and warm. The little plastic "rack" they place inside the box slightly elevates the pizza off of the cardboard and allows air to circulate. It's genius. The Margherita itself was so fresh and lovely. Good ingredients make good food. I also ordered the Caesar Salad. Dressing was tasty, although I wish it had a little more of an anchovy bite, but I also understand most people aren't as fond of anchovies as I am! I live in NYC and really wish I had a pizza place like that that did delivery. NYC pizza is amazing, but sometimes I want a little more gourmet style without having to go to the restaurant. I have only been to the South Portland location but, have gotten delivery from other Otto's and they make an awesome pizza. Not you typical pizza house type of pizza but, varieties like mashed potato, bacon and chive for instance. They do pizza great! read more

This place is so welcome in the area and has such potential but continues to be such a frustration. Bar and waitstaff have always been great but the kitchen crew seems to think this whole room is here for them. VERY loud music (Pantera!), despite the music also being on in the dining area, singing, shouting, dropping, slamming, on and on. I felt pretty sure I was invading their clubhouse, even though it was two hours before closing time. It's just weird and uncomfortable. If I thought there was some thinking behind it, I'd say we are clearly an annoyance to them, but really it just feels like a kitchen crew clubhouse...across the whole dining room. read more

The last 3 orders were insanely messed up. I had raw eggplant on one. Another had all the toppings on one side only, like maybe it was tipped?. The final order was missing items. Attempts to fix issues were usually ignored. I used to love this place. read more

When it is good, it is really good! However, consistency is not their hallmark. It is a real disappointment when the pizza looks great, but the crust is mushy. It is a real pleasure when the crust is perfect, because the toppings most certainly are. We will continue to "take a chance" because Otto can make an exceptional pizza. read more

My waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and made a recommendation to try a pizza with bacon and pineapple and red pepper flakes. It was so good. I found the pizza crust to be exceptional, the delivery service was prompt however, the pizza itself was on the bland side. I had heard it was great, but just tried Otto Pizza today. It is wonderful!! They have combo toppings I've never encountered before, and lots of non-tomato-sauce choices. I had butternut squash, ricotta, cranberry--loved it! They put a wire/mesh in box so crust stays perfect. I've not known any other pizza place to do that. Place was crowded, but worth the wait. Called in a pick up order. Told it would it would be 15 mins. Showed up 20 mins later and waited an additional 25 mins. I asked when it had been started they swore it to took 45 mins to cook. Really? Otto consistently has the worst delivery customer service in Portland. As it's a local favorite and I like their pies, I've eaten at their restaurants, ordered slices for takeout, and had delivery many times. But, more times than not, their delivery service is terrible. It's not just that they often deliver the wrong pizza. It's not just that the 45-60 minute wait time is more often 90-120 minutes. The problem is that their attitude is terrible when they make mistakes and those mistakes are pointed out to them. I've had wrong orders delivered to me and they have, on multiple occasions, insisted that I must have ordered incorrectly (I know the difference between spicy pork and tortellini). I've tried to use Otto Sunrise Guide coupons and they've refused to honor them for no reason. They've actually refused to refund the difference when their wrong deliveries cost more than the orders I've actually made and when I've offered to give them the entire wrong order back. Perhaps they've become too popular to care. In any case, I've probably tried too many times. Try Pizza Joint (better service), Slab (much better pizza, but w/o delivery), or any number of equally good or better places in town. read more
