Fairplay can be such an unassuming drive through town, but I promise this place is worth the stop. Jam packed of delicious sandwiches, lots of options including vegan choices, there is without a doubt something for everyone. We took recommendations from the worker and landed ourselves with a basket of Cajun fries, the Otto's special chicken sandwich and the cheesesteak plus a large selection of dipping sauces for the fries. Everything was incredible, great portions and flavor, truly not a negative to remark about. Staff was friendly and attentive, vibe easy going, walk up and order and pick a seat, plus outdoor patio space. Will certainly be back

Spectacular sandwiches at 9500 ft in the Rockies! We were staying near Fairplay for a few weeks this summer/fall and had seen Otto's but never actually stopped there. This time, we made plans to have one dinner there and it was absolutely worth it. I had the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, all the way with their serrano slaw and blue cheese dressing and my wife had the Classic. The chicken is absolutely that - a fried whole chicken breast - no marinade, no special flavors - just chicken. No surprises, no "weird" tastes - and the menu is diverse enough that you can find something to match your tastes and appetite, from basic to "everything," as our order shows. There's no skimping on the toppings or flavors. The sweet potato fries were a very nice surprise - they were thicker cut vs. the thing, shoestring types you so often get elsewhere. They had a crisp outside, soft inside and kept their heat well. The hashbrown - both a side and a topping - was perfectly crisp. Now it's someplace that when we're back to Fairplay we'll probably hit again, especially to try to he breakfast burritos others rave about.

5 stars for their bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich! We popped into Fairplay for a quick breakfast while staying in a nearby town and I'm so glad we stopped at Otto's. It's an order-at-the-counter type of place with several tables to dine at and the people working there were very friendly. Their breakfast biscuit sandwich was one of the better breakfast sandwiches I've had. The biscuit was super flavorful and moist, didn't crumble apart when biting into it, and was perfectly stuffed with gooey cheddar cheese, fried egg, and crispy bacon. I don't believe it's on their main menu, but for $8 it was such a nice surprise. A place I'd come back to again and again.

We came in the biggest snow storm of the year. We were welcomed warmly with some of the friendliest service I've had in a while. They had crayons and coloring sheets for the kids. The food was as wonderful as the service. The breakfast burrito was baller! Just a perfect stop!

This little food joint was the perfect location to stop and go. Traveling from Cañon City, Colorado to Salt Lake City, Utah and it was the best food we had all weekend! Great Staff, very friendly and opened to give suggestions on food. BEST Sweet Potato Fries I've ever had! The sandwich of the day was the Perfect Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich like no other...with so much flavor. My husband had a breakfast burrito and said it was the best burrito he's had in his life! Loved the vibe it had and we were so glad they had a public bathroom around back with Koala Care for us to change our baby!

Saw great reviews so decided to try this place out. Ordered the original chicken sandwich, the cowgirl fries and the sweet tarot cinnamon fries- the fries are huge!! Just be warned!! Can share between 3 people!!! The sandwich itself was decent. We also custom ordered a kids steak burrito for our dogs- out dogs loves them. Very friendly people and accommodating.

Breakfast for the win here in this super positive space! Stayed in Jefferson but drove through this town on the way to Breckenridge/Idaho Springs. So happy we stopped. Open on a Monday (thank you!) which is always a challenge to find. Great vegetarian choices for my one. Cheese quesadilla for the picky one. Plenty of options for the rest of us. I was so torn on what to order-famous chicken sandwich or the breakfast burrito. Ordered the burrito, filled me up for the entire day!! I'll have to try the sandwich on another adventure.

We had the original chicken sandwich, the special chicken sandwich and shared a side of fries. Everything was seasoned perfectly and so good! The staff seemed to enjoy being there and were all laughing. The guy that took our order was friendly and let us make small changes (I'm a picky eater!). Super tasty! I wish I was in FairPlay more often to try more items on the menu, it all looks tasty. I got the breakfast burrito, and that was really good. Finally tried for myself after hearing many good things since they opened their food cart in Alma several years ago. Very impressed! Chicken sand. and Hot Strami were on point. Delicious, high quality sandwiches. Also the cheesy bacon cowgirl fries are a must. Tasty and massive:) Gonna go back soon for the Philly and a breakfast item, which I hear are very good as well. Yeah it's on the high end of this type of food but from what I've seen so far, it's worth it. Clean place and friendly employees doesn't hurt either:) read more

Don't let the look of the place interfere with your judgement...not much to look at, but very clea, very friendly and a great menu that can adjust for any dietary needs. Pretty expensive for what you get. About $30 / person and sandwich was pretty unflavored even with the sauce + fries were pretty mushy with the cowgirl style. Theres definitely cheaper options that are better but maybe not in FairPlay read more

Disappointed doesn't even encompass it. Picture this: your husband promises you breakfast at your favorite local diner as you head out of town, he realizes an hour into the drive that THE diner is not in this direction and we must reassess our breakfast plans. You're hungry, which makes you indecisive, which makes you annoying. But we rally anyways and choose this small local spot: OTTO's in South Park, CO. You think, South Park is a good show. There must be good food, right? WRONG. First we bought our breakfast Sammie's. They're okay and tasty but nothing to write home about. The reason those little 2 stars are present us because it was 45 DOLLARS FOR THESE TWO SANDWICHES, A BOTTLE OF WATER, AND A COKE. *dies* How in the HECK are you going to price your food that much, give small portions, and no sides, not to mention the servers don't bring it to the table: you go up to the counter. I mean I know inflation is a problem but JEEZ. Thankfully ottos did redeem itself **slightly** with this magnificent Cowboy French fries covered in melted cheese, juicy bacon, sour cream, and siracha aioli. SMACK YO MAMA that was good. we sort of got lost coming down a mountain and ended up in FairPlay. we were all starving and MAN did this place hit the spot! Our 8 year old got the kids breakfast burrito and it got 2 thumbs up. We brought our family of 10 (7 adults and 3 kids) to Colorado a couple years ago for a 12 day vacation. We stayed in Colorado Springs and Fairplay. We drove over to Breckenridge for a day trip and ran into Otto's in Alma on the way and decided to try it. On our vacation we ate at a lot of restaurants, both upscale and down home. After we returned home to KY, the family got together for a meal and reminisced about our vacation. I polled the family on their favorite restaurant on the whole trip and the decision was unanimous, Otto's Food Truck. We had a variety of their dishes and they were all bursting with flavor and prepared to perfection. My wife, daughter and I returned this week (May 2024) to Breckenridge for a week and we drove over to Otto's for repeat visit, and once again, Otto's reigned supreme. The Alma Quesadilla with added chicken was excellent and my daughter loved the The Otto's Chicken sandwich (one with the dill sauce). I tried her sandwich and I agree, excellent! read more

Running through The Rockies heading towards Durango, hard to find places to eat so once we got to Fairplay and saw a possible breakfast place we stopped. Ended up getting some chicken sandwiches instead, and they were terrific. It only took about 3 or 4 minutes for the 2 sandwiches to come out along with our order of Cajun fries. My Grandpa got the original chicken sandwich and I got the hot honey one and we both loved it. Probably one of the best chicken sandwiches Ive had, but I do know that the Cajun fries were probably the best ive had, especially along with Garlic and Herb dipping sauce. Everything was crispy and delicious. The staff were all super nice too, especially the guy at the register. One of if not the best places ive gone during my travels. Everything about the place was awesome, its to bad I dont live around here for it. Ive never written a review before but this place was worth every penny. read more

When I travel, I like to go to as many places as possible so if I go to the same place twice, then it must be truly special to me. I insisted on going to Otto's twice on a short trip to Fairplay because it was that good. The first day, the massive breakfast burrito saved my life. The second day, the breakfast sandwich had me believing in miracles. I'm a breakfast sandwich connoisseur, an expert if you will, and the veggie griddler was truly outstanding, a beautiful mixture of avocado, eggs, arugula and garlic aoili. We stopped in as we headed out from Mt. Princeton back to Denver. We loved it! Such a fun, little chicken spot to keep you fueled as you drive. We were so thankful they were open this Thanksgiving weekend! We had the original and the special with sweet potato fries. The whole experience was awesome. This place SAVED ME. I was so hungry and felt like I was going to be doomed to have a gas station dinner when I found Otto's. The service was awesome and they happily split all our orders into 2 so my partner and I could split everything. We ordered a sandwich, salad, and some wings. All of it was fantastic! I wasn't expecting much when we pulled for a quick bite. But wow! The food was very high quality in the preparation and taste. The service was very good as well. We sat in our truck and ate because it was full inside and it was very windy outside. While eating, one of the workers, probably Otto, came out to check on us. He was concerned that it might have taken longer for us to get our food than we expected. We thought the amount of time was fine considering how busy they were. We really appreciated his concern for his customers! Very nice! Did I mention that the food was great?? read more

History

Established in 2019.

We started out as a small Food Cart in Alma, CO above 10,000'. With love from our customers and great support from our community, we quickly grew into one of the best and most delicious food options in the area. As demand for our quality and service grew, and as our family has gotten larger, we were blessed with the opportunity to open a second location in Fairplay, CO in 2022. We are ever evolving as a business and as people, and are extremely grateful to be in service of our communities, while providing ourselves a great work environment with the opportunity to grow.

Meet the Business Owner: Brian B.

Brian, "Otto", grew up in the restaurant industry and worked every position the service industry has to offer at some point. Brian saw a need for a quality food option in the community as he was builidng a home and a life in the mountians. An opportunity presented itself in the form of a food cart, and the story of Otto's began. The menu is a creation filled with food 'Otto' loves to eat, with influences from the south, the mountains, the midwest, and all of Brian's restaurant experience. Over the last few years, Otto's has grown exponentially, and is proud to serve multiple communities and provide leadership, direction, and a wonderful environment to work in for more than 20 employees. Brian has recently become a father, and his passion for food, community, family, positivity and gratitude is higher than ever before.

The only things we didn't like were tied to the random people there. The first was a person outside that we originally thought was going to solicit us for money while we were a captive audience there eating, but then just sat awkwardly near us and chatted with random passerbys; his two or three color dyed goatee looking like he just came from a college football game and attire reminiscent of Hugh Heffner with a mountain aura. He didn't even get a drink, he just walked up and sat around, then disappeared as magically as he appeared. Then there were a few patrons that were talking like they just came in to satisfy their case of the munchies. I was going to walk the downtown, but decided to keep on driving after this. Overall, I'd stop in again and just eat inside, probably a bit away from the bar. Everyone was super friendly, but I couldn't get over the general vibe of that time of day in the area.

That didn't appear to be accurate, and when I mentioned that, the response quickly became rude and dismissive. At that point, we decided there was no reason to stay and left for dinner elsewhere. The next day, we ate at Tin Plate Pizza--fantastic food and excellent service. Ironically, while walking past Bird and Cow afterward, we noticed their kitchen area through an open back door, and it did not appear clean or well-kept. In hindsight, we're glad things worked out the way they did--but overall, this was a frustrating experience driven by inaccurate wait times and poor customer service.

There was no chili, no pork, nothing -- just basic mac and cheese that tasted like it came straight out of a box. My friend ordered a burger that was supposed to come with lettuce, blue cheese, and the works. Instead, it arrived with just chicken and bread. That was it. No toppings at all. The water we were given was also incredibly dirty -- it literally looked grey. Service somehow managed to be both overwhelming and nonexistent. While we were eating, the waiter came back to the table every couple of seconds so we couldn't even have a conversation. But when we were actually ready for the check, suddenly there was no waiter anywhere and we fwaited about 15 minutes. On top of that, every request got mixed up. I asked for blue cheese and after about 10 minutes the waiter came back with ranch. Then I asked for lemon vinaigrette (which the meal was supposed to come with) and instead got honey mustard. After explaining again, she came back with... even more honey mustard. We also paid $10 for fries with green chili and received about 15 fries. And one more thing when paying they did NOT bring my card back for about 20 minutes. It was also extremely dark where we were sitting all of the surrounding lights were off but everywhere else in the resteraunt was perfectly fine Overall the food quality, service, and attention to orders were extremely disappointing. Definitely not an experience I'd repeat don't waste your money here.

This is the 2nd time we've stopped at Otto's when driving through Fairplay and had to write a review. The food is fabulous!!! Just a sandwich shop but has breakfast and lunch. I had the Cubano and it is delicious. The bread was crunch, pork tender and the pickles tasted homemade. Got regular fries which are super fresh and a side of ranch (all their sauces are made in house). The friendly staff and 70's jams playing topped off the amazing lunch! read more

Food was delicious! Great healthy choices. I had the avocado toast- my only regret was not getting TWO! My husband had the quesadilla - flavorable! This is a MUST STOP! Employees/Owners were very welcoming. They gave our dog Blue a treat! We have been staying outside of Fairplay at an Airbnb all week.
