Love there food and the service is impeccable. The encrusted trout was delicious. I love bringing friends for lunch.

We went for HRW. Restaurant seems popular especially among the older River Oaks residents. Location and ambience is good as is the service. The wine options are fairly good and reasonably priced. Food is inconsistent: the watermelon salad was fresh while the clam chowder was barely passable. Steak was also fairly good but somewhat salty. Mahi mahi was chewy and insipid. Dessert was generic and barely interesting. Service was great. Given the variety of choices in Houston, this one barely made the cut. read more

We were looking for a night out...fancy diner. As far as filling water glasses, this place is the winner of attentiveness. I'm always irritated by forced valet when there are plenty of spaces readily available, but cones block every available space (and any access point to "optional self parking"). Also, don't force me to valet without it being complimentary: it's rude and elitist. The old fashioned cocktail was smooth and delicious (congrats: two stars). On the whole, our family Easter deviled eggs far surpass the bizarrely colored and flavorless boiled eggs we were served. And by some universal anomaly, I'm not sure how any restaurant combines feta cheese and pesto to create a flavorless dish. That, my friends and foodies, is a stoke of absurdly poor chef concoctions. Overall, Ouisie's Table offers the facade of elegance, but the food one would expect from a millennial who woke up one day with a cooking fascination. Who knew grits could be so yummy and fancy?? Tonight was night #1 of Houston Restaurant Week and we chose Ouisie's Table. It was definitely a good choice! We decided to head there for an early dinner (5:30pm) to celebrate our friend's birthday. We were seated right away (as the place was basically empty). Our server, Javier, was very attentive. We had made a reservation and mentioned Houston restaurant week. We also mentioned when we were seated but were served the regular menus. That was basically the only fault I can find with the whole evening. The bread they serve before the meal is 4 distinct types. One is a corn bread muffin (these are completely addictive), a cayenne pepper muffin (holy cow it has some kick), some sourdough and another one I didn't try. We ordered off the fixed price menu for the Houston Restaurant Week. My house salad was perfect with just the right amount of citrus vinaigrette. My husband had the minestrone which was a little more vegetable soup than minestrone, but he really liked it. My friend had the lobster bisque and said it was perfect. Main courses: 2 of us had the shrimp and cheese grits. It was very good. The cheese grits are very filling and are seasoned perfectly. The shrimp was done just as it should be. Nothing I can saw negative about this dish at all. My husband had the Parmesan crusted chicken. He cleaned his plate! It was covered in artichokes and accompanied by some of the best mashed potatoes he had ever had. Dessert: I had the Pot-de-Crème au Chocolat, which was an espresso cup with a deep rich chocolate mousse. It was delicious. The others had the custard. They both remarked on how much the liked it (one being a dessert foodie and the other from England where custard is a standard dessert everywhere). Verdict: Our food was perfect from beginning to end. The decor was beautiful. There are 4 different rooms, and we were seated in the main dining area. I hadn't been to this restaurant in about 10 years and I don't know what I was thinking. I'll definitely be back. Our server Javier was great. I really appreciated how friendly yet reserved he was. I also appreciated that after we paid our bill he continued to fill our tea and coffee and ask us if we needed anything else in a totally good tone (none of that 'I'm trying to rush you out of here' tone.). As we exited we were given little cellophane baggies with a single sugar cookie and an advertisement for the restaurant. I thought they were cute (see photo). The only thing I'd change is the valet parking. What's the point of blocking off ALL the parking spaces in the area right in front of the door for valet? It's crazy. Valet should be for hard to park areas, and most definitely shouldn't take all the spaces right in front of the door. It just seems weird and greedy to me. Yes, this restaurant should definitely have valet, but not to just park it where I could have and walked 5 feet. Still, I can't deduct any stars for a pet peeve valet parking issue. Second Time at Oussie's for dinner and I still like their food and service. Valet is $3, but there is not much parking there, so it's worth it. This last time we went for new Year's Eve's four course menu, which also had an amazing wine pairing (i was driving, only one glass allowed). The service was just ok this time, they were really busy and our server would disappear from time to time, but the time before the service was spectacular so it balanced out. Most memorable part of my meal was the pork (super tender) and the tres leches. Least memorable was the service. My friend wasnt too happy with the halibut, just said it wasnt memorable. I'm still a fan since I like the way they treat their patrons. Almost forgot, they had live music in the main dining room! That was pretty nice. read more

It was mediocore at best. Had to constantly ask for drinks to be refilled, didnt remove appetizer plates so tons of dirty plates on the table when dinner arrived....i could go on and on. food was great, though. Came here for Mother's Day and had a reservation at 12:45. A whole MONTH in advance. Had to stand in a PACKED front room while we waited. We were seated finally at 1:15 and placed our order because we were so hungry. We were brought drinks and nothing else. When I complained about not having any food (we had a cranky toddler) we finally got bread at 2:00. They brought our entrees out and forgot the appetizers we ordered. We didn't say anything because we we were just glad to have food. They of course charged us for it and we had them correct the bill... which they gladly took care of for us. I have had Ouise's table on normal days and it's great... but they seriously overbooked for Mother's Day. Setting your servers and wait staff up for failure for sure. I went here for brunch with a few girl friends to kick off Houston restaurant week. The staff were really friendly and assured us that the brunch menu will be available on weekends. I chose the fried oysters and the soft shell crab eggs Benedict over bed of chopped salad. The fried oysters came with a cocktail dipping sauce and tartar sauce. I was hoping that they would give the oysters a rounded out flavor but neither sauce did much. The cocktail sauce didn't have that tangy flavor and the tartar sauce was flat. As for the eggs Benedict, I give it up for presentation but not much else which was disappointing. The eggs were nice and runny but under seasoned because the hollandaise was bland but the soft shell was nice and crisp. The bed of chopped lettuce was fresh but I would've liked a bolder dressing. This place gets an A+ for service and aesthetics. It's very cozy and intimate but I will pass on the food. read more

Impeccable service at a Houston favorite. We tend to come here for brunch and it did not disappoint. There's a piano player that provides a bit of ambiance as you dine, I always love that he does. This place fills up quickly, so reservations are suggested. Crispy Fried Gulf Oysters are always a winner for me. The salad are all a very good size (chicken with Stilton Mmm). Both benedicts (original or crab) are quite good. This past go around I did a special and had a flounder omelet - really delicate flavors. read more

I would describe this fine dinning experience as a vintage classic/mid classy environment. I would recommend going during lunch with the girls or for a self care day. I am not familiar with the night atmosphere of this beautiful establishment but I am sure it will definitely be a vibe. I did not, to much care for the service received. There were some awkward moments, especially when I requested for additional orange juice in my mimosa (yes, I am a light drinker lol). I just feel like some employees at restaurants try to be so stingy/ have some sort of say so with items that are not there's. Like, it does not hurt you to spare extra orange juice in a mimosa. So yeah, that was irritating. I also was not too fond of the table side etiquette such as reaching over people and what not. Yeah, not very appropriate for such a fine dinning establishment. I must wave however, on the portion sizes of the entrees (definitely giving left overs hittin late at night, late night snack or next day treat lol). The consistency of flavors throughout the dishes that myself and my friend tried were very good (items ordered listed below). It was a beautiful day and I took my son out for brunch. I make it a priority to take him to as many restaurants as possible to gain knowledge and experiences. I want to ensure he treats himself well later because he's he should also treat his dates right. The ambiance was very good. There's a nice outdoor patio area but it was a bit too chilly for me. I came here with one of my best friends last night for a casual pow wow before our plans of crashing an Astros watch party at a different venue. All I can say is wow. We sat at the bar and the entire wait staff, the bar tender Sean, and Eduardo the manager went above and beyond with taking care of us. They had the best sense of humor, were incredibly entertaining, made excellent wine and food recommendations, and even imparted valuable and hilariously delivered life lessons and advice. We ended up staying the entire evening here and totally forgot the Astros watch party. I have never laughed so hard in my life. We had such a great time and will definitely be back! Much love!! By the way, we had the crab tower, which was the meat was so tender I wondered if it would have been improper behavior to lick the plate. My friend Amy and I shared the Halibut which was hands down the freshest tasting fish I've ever had in the Houston area. Any fresher, and it would have been alive and right out the ocean. The Brussels Sprout appetizer was excellent, but I had it served with the entree rather than a stand-alone appetizer. I can't remember the name of the desert, but it was excellent; you should most definitely save room. The restaurant is a quaint space with about equal indoor & outdoor seating. If your coming for a quick bite to eat this is probably not the place. The service was not per se slow, it is more that everything is being prepared as ordered and it takes more time to get to you. The food was a C for me, definitely not the best, but not the worst either. Bread - this is the first bite of food people have at a restaurant and Ouisie's was excellent. 2 types: gingerbread and mini muffin. I just wishes the bread was piping hot, one was warm and one was cold Appetizers - the crab cakes were mediocre and a very small portion. The wedge salad was good. Entrées - the short rib had tons of fat on it and was quite bland in flavor. The mash potatoes with lobster had 1 piece of lobster in it. The scallops were also average. I was looking for proprietary flavors that were distinctive, but we never got there. I wasn't blown away by this place in any shape form or fashion. This place was the perfect lunch! We got a reservation for the patio, same day. They have indoor/enclosed patio/open patio options. We wanted patio, and received a perfect lunch table. Their wine by the glass options were amazing (not all are), my Malbec had legs for days! Their menu is amazing for all groups! I had 4 options picked out and assumed I would narrow them down, as some were unable to be ordered without dairy. Instead, I ordered my first choice, the veggie paella, which was amazing! My friend had the deviled eggs (one of which had caviar). Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, and took care of our every need! All of their staff was very friendly and professional. Went to a brunch at Ouisie's today for my cousins birthday. The server was so kind and efficient and the food was delicious. Ambiance was elegant but not stuffy. But they went over and above expectations with the cake. I brought it from a bakery because it was a specific request from the birthday girl. The bakery used the wrong color icing and the decorations I planned to add didn't work. When I gave the cake to the manager to keep until we served, I said the cake is kind of plain so if you could do anything to make it a little prettier it would be nice. When the cake came out with the candles, they had added a couple of simple but sophisticated decorations that made the cake extra special. It couldn't have been lovelier and I was so thankful! Had a brunch meeting here - seems like a nice location though valets stand at the front and could not muster up a smile or even hello The restaurant itself is pretty and elegant with an old fashioned feel which is target nice. Began with coffee - it was kinda like most places that serve breakfast- bland and generic , I could not drink it and stuck with water. Had the salmon salad ; it honestly came close to one of the worst salads I had ever had in my life. I choose poached salmon - not sure if it was that; the dressing or simply undrained salad but the whole dish was wet with lots of watery liquid that was unappealing. It of course got worse as the meal sat so it was largely soggy and inedible. Both the salmon and salad were bland. Just not good. Most of our party left their dishes half full so the saving grace was the bread selection of which I tried a biscuit like item that was quite tasty. The staff were very nice and service was fast and friendly but the food so bland . The diners were generally older so maybe it's not for those looking for bolder more adventurous flavors read more

The reviews are mixed on Yelp. I think its good to know what you are getting. Some reviews comment that the decor is dated. True. In the same way BonTon decor was dated in NOLA. Both are institutions. The servers are in crisp uniforms, but service is relaxed--meaning they aren't going to rush you in and out, but also meaning it might be a while before your order is taken or the bread arrives (always an exciting moment because its a biscuit, jalapeño cornbread, and gingerbread). I've never had a non-friendly waiter. They have always had a smile and give the impression they are so happy to be helping you enjoy your night. If you happen to be going on an extra busy night, say when a party is going on in the side room, yes, service is going to be extra slow. Water will not get refilled, you will be waiting 30 minutes for bread. I prefer the side porch room more than the main room, it is quieter, more space between tables and has better ambiance. I've never had a bad dish. They are solid, predictable, and flavorful, but not innovative. If you want trendy, go elsewhere. If you want classic, book a table! Regarding valet, most Houston restaurants with parking lots do this now. If you get there early, there is a parking section that is not blocked. When we have left later in the night, when we've seem some tables turnover, the parking is packed and double parked, meaning valet was necessary. Ousie's would be good for special parties, group dinners, and families (they have a kids menu). I don't see a lot of younger couples on dates but I think the side room (Alsey's Nest) would be good for a date. The main room wouldn't feel intimate and would also be too loud. We love Ousie's. The event contract is easy to understand & if you have any questions they are very eager to help! We had a very small wedding of 34 in the small garden & reception in Ansley's Nest. We had been meeting with the staff for about a year. Lyssa & Shundra are absolute rockstars! I loved working with both of them. They are true professionals & knew how to put a bride at ease. They really listen to what your vision is & help guide you. They are the sweetest ladies! That's an amazing asset in itself as no matter small or big wedding it can feel overwhelming. It was perfect. I cannot stress that enough! Lyssa & Shundra took our vision and made it happen. It turned out gorgeous! We really wanted simple, elegant, & romantic. Nailed it! I walked in and stress melted away. It was everything we had wanted down to every little detail. Our families and friends RAVED about everything. The food, as always, was impeccable and the service is truly unmatched. They truly care about their clients and customers. Our cake was EXACTLY what we asked for and the decor and flowers were just flawless. My husband and I got to sit back and enjoy our wedding because Ouisie's made sure everything was taken care of. You can't ask for anything more! It's been two weeks and we went back for their New Years Eve dinner & once again we walked away with big smiles! Every time you decide to dine here you will be taken care of. Expected Better Quality Based on recommendations from our friends we were really looking forward to this night. Restaurant location is tucked into an affluent neighborhood off the beaten path. We had a reservation so no issue being seated. Atmosphere is romantic French Bistro. Service was friendly and courteous. However we had a team of two waiters and each one tried to take our order or bring us the same thing. Menu selections provided a large variety of items with several choices of special items. We started with the Calamari $10 unfortunately for me it was more spicy than I like. For main course I had the Parmesan Crusted Trout $25 and my spouse the Atlantic Salmon $27. For dessert the Lemon Ice Box Pie $7. Both meals were tasty although the Salmon was a bit over cooked. Presentation was ok and portions of average size. This place was a delight! Enjoyed every minute of my visit here from the moment we walked in to the moment we left! We enjoyed a girls brunch for HRW! To start with we enjoyed the crab cakes, moved on to the brisket eggs Benedict, and finished with apple strudel! Cant forget the carafe beach bellinis we enjoyed as well! Easy to find location. Huge parking area. They also offer valet. This place was so crowded. I don't feel my space was comfortable. We did have a group of 20 people but I would think they would better plan for our reservation. The major plus point for Ouisie's Table during the pandemic is the fact that they have a lot of space which allows for the different groups to be spread out a lot, allowing for the 2 stars. On the food unfortunately, it's unimaginative at best. Our group tried various fish dishes, the lamb chops, chicken scallopini and various vegetarian preparations. The lamb chops, while ordered medium rare were well done, the chicken dish had 3 nugget sized pieces of chicken on a bed of flavorless pasta and the fish dishes were plain while well cooked. Location- Great location on the outter banks of the galleria area- River Oaks to be exact, ample parking available in the parking lot but Valet is also available which is more convenient. Reservations- I would advise to make them if you have a group of 4+, as this cuts down your waiting time. I've seen groups as large as many as 10+ being accommodated, so its great for groups, families, or even a small intimate meal. Service- From the front of the house to the back of the house, everyone that I've encountered here have been nothing short of amazing and welcoming! Food- "uhhhhhMaaaaZzzzinnnngg" I've had the chicken and waffles, and Crab Cake Benedict, both wildly different and amazing! The chicken and waffles are served with potatoes that are cooked and seasoned to perfection with a hint of rosemary. This chicken was also cooked well, not an overpowering greasy film but nicely seasoned and crunchy. The waffle wasn't the best that I've had. But Overall, really good! The Crab cake Benedict I felt like I needed a meat to offset the spinach and eggs but still really good. Its served with Canadian ham, chopped spinach, crab cake of course and an poached egg. I don't eat red meat or pork and Ousie's doesn't offer turkey back or chicken sausage. Prices are more than fair for the quality of food and the experience you receive! It's so hard to find bottomless mimosas in Houston- but $14 you cant beat that with a nightstick!! Give it a go!! read more
