My wife took me to The Marigold Club as an early Father's Day present on the Saturday before Father's Day. And I am one lucky Daddy!!! First of all, the restaurant is beautiful, and it was nicely bustling on this early Saturday evening. Our two top booth was comfortable and looked out over all the action. We both enjoyed the Marigold Martini which is a bargain at $10 during "Golden Hour", we also had some Golden Hour marinated olives. Quite delicious and the marinade which had some sort of mustard in it was excellent. For starters we got the Argentinian Red Shrimp Crudo. One of the best crudos I've had, and was very unique as I don't think I've seen Argentinian Red Shrimp offered in this way before. We also had the Marigold Salad and the Beef Tartare. The Tartare was very flavorful and I actually enjoyed it better without the Sourdough toast that was served with it. For mains my wife chose the Poached Halibut with Parisian Gnocchi. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delectable. The little gnocchi were a nice complement to the dish. I chose the Striped Bass which had a great crispy skin, again perfectly cooked and the salsa verde and pickled fennel added an acidity that brightened the dish up. I loved this dish. Glad I picked it over the pork chop (which was probably going to be good also). We had a couple of sides - The chilled asparagus salad was excellent while the leeks had excellent flavor they were a little chewy and stringy, so texturally not that good. The Marigold Club has been on my list for dinner service. I didn't realize they offered brunch until one of my close friends suggested it for brunch. We were overdue after all their wedding preps the past few months. We wanted to go somewhere where we could dress up, so this is where we ended up. There's street parking, albeit busy. Valet is the easiest option where they park right across the restaurants (The Marigold Club, March, Rosie Cannonball). Tip what you will, but it's literally 10 steps or less if you parked there yourself. Walking in, we were greeted and saw our friends who were already seated in the middle of the main dining area. I love the decor and ambiance. It was reminiscent of a place called Rosalie's downtown where my friend had a birthday lunch a few years back. It might've been because of the green tapestry. We ordered drinks. I asked if they had any mocktails, and our server Nataly said a few of the cocktails could be converted. They had Ritual gin alternative, which is my fave. I ordered the gin and tonic. It was served in a glass that you would drink soda from. The lemon zest fell off on the table as she put it down, so it was tossed. I was left with what looked like sparkling water but with a tall, rectangular cube. The drink itself was refreshing but could've been presented better. Nothing beats the mocktail gin and tonic presentation at BCN. I always preview the menu and look up photos prior to eating out. I thought I had made up my mind on the Bergamot profiteroles and French omelette, but I went a different route instead of the omelette. We started with both of their flavored scones because my friends wanted it - lemon poppy seed and peach almond. They give 2 small pieces of each flavor for $8. I didn't like them at all. They were tiny, dense, dry, and the flavors weren't good, especially the peach almond. I ordered the Bergamot profiteroles. They gave us 4 for $10 so that we could each get one. It was better than the scones but not what I expected. It was more tart like cream cheese inside. I thought it was going to taste like the description - vanilla chantilly (like Whole Foods chantilly cake) and dulce de leche. I tasted neither...or bergamot. I've had earl grey pie in California, so I was expecting that flavor. Looked pretty, though. Three of us ordered the steak frites, and our other friend ordered the English muffin sandwich with hashbrowns. I ordered my 8 oz flank steak medium (still a bit bloody and would tint the frites), and they had medium rare. The sauce au poivre saved it and added flavor. I enjoyed the frites. I tasted some of my friend's hashbrown and liked that, too. I couldn't finish the whole dish, but my friend took the rest of our steak pieces combined to take home. Loved the decorative takeout bag that matched the wallpaper. They have cute yellow matchboxes that we got on our way out. Service was great even if the steak took a while to come out. We were forewarned. It was fine cause we started with boulangerie first, which was basically half of the dessert menu. We skipped that, though the sundae cart looked intriguing. It's like when you fly business or first class, and they offer Tillamook vanilla ice cream sundaes. We were dressed in shades of red and green which made for a lovely photo of us that they took before we headed out. The different areas of The Marigold Club is great for photos, but I wasn't wowed by the food. Even the afternoon tea menu options didn't look appealing. This was a let down, unfortunately. Start with the good... the restaurant is beautiful and the service is great. We were off to a really good start. I really like the vibe of the interior and the layout. They start you with a house made tea, I didn't like it. We ordered the fish "not" chips and the oysters. The oysters were solid and they had an assortment of different East Coast varieties, which was nice. The fish "not" chips was almost a hit. The shrimp and the scallops were good and fried nice. However, they also included citrus slices deep fried with the peel on. It was lowkey disgusting. It was super bitter and sour and you didn't know what it was until you bit into it. For entrees, I had the prime filet of beef and my wife had the Duck Wellington. I have to admit it was the worst duck either of us have ever had. It was unbearable. The steak was ok. It was literally two slices of filet. If you follow me or have read my reviews, you know we go to a lot of steakhouses. This would be a bottom tier steak in the hierarchy of Houston restaurants. Presented elegantly, lightly seasoned and an overpowering cherry flavored reduction that didn't complement the beef. We also had the the French fries, the onion rings and the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was pretty good, fries were good and onion rings were mediocre. The banana old fashioned was a 7/10 as well. Again, great service and atmosphere so I hate to put them down. Wow... just wow. This place is gorgeous. Definitely date night worthy! We did a girls' NO here and sat on the patio which was so cute. It was a little cold but it was fully enclosed and they eventually turned on the heater. The waiter was very helpful, and answered all of our questions while being very patient. Absolutely gorgeous restaurant. The did was amazing...so amazing we dug in without taking pictures. The Parker house rolls were a hit. They also start you off with this delicious tea. What an adorable restaurant/tea house. Everyone was super nice and attentive. We came for a holiday tea with family from out of state. They were definitely impressed. We had four teas (white wolf was my favorite) and tons of savory & sweet treats. The scones were my favorite. They had a nice crisp edge and soft inside. The earl gray was my favorite. A well balanced black tea although I prefer to have a bit of milk which I'm sure I could have asked for. The savory sandwiches were awful. The bread was stale, the chicken salad was too sweet. The pastrami sandwich needed mustard or mayo. The meat tasted cheap. The cucumber tart was great and so was the gougere. Although the savories were a full miss, the sweets were everything. Beautiful, delicate, and complex. The definitely saved the day. I really like the scones and the sweet cream fraiche. We made reservations for Saturday night and they seated us right away. This is probably one of the most beautiful and romantic spots we've ever been to. The walls are hand painted beautifully. The chairs are made of beautiful material and the chandeliers are roses. We started our meal with MUSSEL ESCABECHE TOAST, and Fish "Not"chips. The toast was incredible and delicious, the Fish not chips was not good at all! There was so much salt and oil that every single item on the dish tasted the same way. We then ordered the halibut and Beef Wellington. Both dishes were good. The Halibut was cooked perfectly. And the curry sauce was creamy and delicate, however the seat on top of the fish was overly salty. The onion rings were the absolute worst I've ever had, they where's crispy and the batter tasted stale. We each had one bite and they went to waste. We finished our meal with the peach Melba and ice cream cart. The peach tart was ok, nothing to rave about and the ice cream cart was more for show as the ice cream itself was bland. My husband and I had a lovely meal here even with their prix-fixe menu on a holiday. Our waiter accidentally spilled some wine on my husband's shirt while serving him, but luckily it was white wine. So good! The whole experience was wonderful. We loved almost everything we ordered! Here's the breakdown: we ordered a dozen oysters and added 2 caviar boops. They came from three different regions, 4 of each. They were amazing-we didn't even need to add lemon or any of the accoutrements to them. Literal perfection. Then we ordered the steak tartare and French fries (because I always have to have fries). Once again, absolutely amazing. Cafe Annie has always had my favorite steak tartare in Houston, but now.. that little honor goes to the Marigold Club! The fries were thin, crispy and delicious, and came with a bearnaise aioli. I want that aioli to go with everything I eat from now on. For entrees we got the Roasted Chicken and the Bone-in Pork Chop. The chicken was by far the winner! It was juicy and flavorful and the sauce on it was unbelievable. The pork chop was good, but it was a little dry and the sauce had a very strong ash taste to it. Still good, but not something I would order again. It was our anniversary so they brought us a complimentary dessert. Neither of us are big dessert people, but we appreciated the sweet gesture so we tried it and it was so good! I can't remember what he said the name it was, but we ate the whole thing! Celebrated our 26th anniversary yesterday! We were impressed with the service. They checked on us often and always were refilled our glasses. Food came out in time and was beautifully prepared. The Duck Wellington and Seabass were delicious! The martinis were on point. They dessert and coffee were delicious. Several others were celebrating anniversary or special occasions. Came here to try out their brunch menu and it was really good. Reservations were easy to make online - you can choose which section to sit in and we chose the main dining room which is gorgeous. It's classy, beautiful, and romantic. The atrium next door to it looked bright and inviting. I took a peek at the pink room which was a smaller, more intimate room that was super cute. For appetizers we had the caviar and potato soldier which was absolutely delicious!! My friend tried the scones and enjoyed it. I had the Croque Madame for my main and it was good! For dessert a Chantilly in a cup (Summer Trifle) This wasn't the place for me, but I'm sure that they have seasonal menu, and there's certain things I am looking for but I know im being picky. Im looking for warm plates, warm bread, warm utensils. I didn't love the flavors, but I do see how others may. The decor inside is so cute We had a reservation for 12pm on a Sunday and the restaurant wasn't too crowded. We started off with a dozen oysters and the beef tartare. Oysters were small to medium size and very flavorful. The beef tartare was great! The bread/English muffin that comes with it was so good, perfectly garlicky and a little crispy on the edges. I had the chicken Milanese as my main which was fried perfectly and the salad on top was the perfect balance. I tried my friends burger which was really well seasoned and the fries are skinny crunchy and delicious. For dessert, the sundae cart is a must!!! The strawberries and cream ice cream is to die for, and topped with that homemade cream?! *chef's kiss!* I will absolutely be returning here. I think it's a great location for a girlfriends' brunch. Food: Duck Wellington is too salty, their sauce soaked up the outer layers which made it soggy instead of crispy, the duck inside should be medium cook but rather too well done and taste dry and salty. Mash potato tastes mediocre and not smooth nor with creamy texture. French fries have thinner straw but again does not taste good for such an upscale place. Drinks are okay. Free/complimentary tea tastes like sweet and sour water without any aroma. Their cocktails are not smooth and nothing special. It does look good. Food overall is a disappointment knowing it's a shared ownership with March restaurant next by which gains Michelin star. Service is very decent. Fast, friendly, and efficient. However, waiter cannot convey their menu, recommendation nor concept of the place. They are very friendly and ensure our cups are filled with water on time. Manager stay by the bar to overlook the restaurant but failed to pay attention to when guests needed help. Ambiance is what makes this place gain stars rating. The place is very beautiful from ceiling, to floor, and their restroom/loo is very clean with beautiful wallpaper. Although, overall the place's ambiance has very low dim light to create that relaxing ambiance. This place is not well lit in the main dining hall, sit by the patio or at the patio will have better lighting on the day time. Overall, I'm not sure I'm willing to give it a second try if their food quality is this bad. This place invests well in creating nice atmosphere for friends gathering or date night, but I wish their food tastes better to meet up to such expectation to justify their pricing and included service charges. What was meant to be a warm, comfortable birthday celebration turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had. From the beginning, things felt off. Prior to booking, we were clearly assured that we would have a private, comfortable room for our celebration. There was nothing private or accommodating about the setup, which immediately dampened the mood of what was supposed to be a special evening. The staff was rude and completely unaccommodating. Throughout the service, it felt rushed and the servers appeared disinterested and indifferent, as though our presence was an inconvenience rather than valued guests celebrating an important occasion. Marigold is absolutely stunning. I've been twice, once for brunch and once for tea time, and both times the space itself really stood out. The design is beautiful, the vibes are immaculate, and the playlist during my visits was on point, which all adds to the experience. The food is solid and I enjoyed both visits, but my main pushback is the price point. For me, it doesn't quite feel worth the cost unless you're intentionally paying for the beauty and ambiance of the space. For tea time, the dishes were fantastic, but at that price I wish it were unlimited or at least included a second round. That said, the service has consistently been great, and they're very kid-friendly, which I appreciate. I'll definitely come back, just more as an occasional spot rather than a regular go-to. Our experience from walking in to leaving was great. Our server, Oscar, made sure we were enjoying ourselves. We ordered two different types of oysters, beef tartare, croquettes, and filet of beef to share. The filet of beef was the winner of the bunch with a side of fries and mashed potatoes. The other dishes were fine but probably won't order them again. Unfortunately, I became very ill with diarrhea and vomiting throughout the night, and I believe the oysters could have been the culprit since I had a different type of oyster than my guest. I understand there are inherent risks with raw seafood, but I wanted to share my experience so others can make an informed decision. We had one of the first reservations at 5:15PM, was very excited to try The Marigold with all the great reviews to gorgeously decorated interior awaiting our photos. I even had a list of things ready to order! Heads up, any table with more than 4 will not be sat in the main dining room. We had 7 and sat in room that was the complete opposite of the main dining area. So we didn't get to experience that sexy ambiance. The dishes that stood out were the fresh oysters, fish not chips, beef tartare and the duck wellington. I could easily skip everything else ordered, or just not return unfortunately. Our waitress was someone who I wouldn't recommend, I personally didn't enjoy her approach of recommending the quantity of everything we needed. I understand everything isn't meant to be shared, but that's why I came in ready with a list of things we wanted to try! Just a bite or taste to experience Marigold Club's offerings. When our waitress placed one of our entrees down, she accidentally tapped our onion ring which fell on the table...I expected her to offer a new serving. This bothered me and a few other guests. She came off borderline condescending. For $172 (22%) dollar tip, I truly did anticipate better. Please don't expect "Texas sized" portions. This is a beautiful French fusion restaurant. When you walk inside the restaurant you feel like you are in Paris. The service is top-notch. The food is divine. We had the beef tartar as appetizer, which was very nicely prepared. We also had excellent carpaccio of some type of fish. Our entrees were the duck Wellington and fish. Both were wonderfully prepared. We had a banana dessert and they did something extra special because it was our 20th year anniversary. I cannot get enough of this place! I've been here twice now last month and planning to come again! Both times, I've sat at the bar because it's just been more comfortable since I'm either by myself or with my boyfriend. The ambiance is so chill and cute- very french-isque, and I love it! Their bartenders are very knowledgeable on drinks and quick with the drinks and service. The food- just delicious! Everything I've ordered has come out great. I loved the duck wellington- perfect and great texture, the pate is also delicious with their sourdough bread and their dessert is amazing. Their bread for the tartar is kind of dry, so I prefer it with the sour dough but the tartar on it's own is also very delicious. My favorite is their banana ice cream (banaoffy)! At some point I really want to get a group of girls to go out so we can get the ice cream cart which I've seen been brought out table side. I came here for dinner with my 2 Yelp friends. So glad to be able to snag a resy for this new restaurant, as it seems to be hot right now. The Chefs Felipe & Austin (from Rosie Cannonball, March, & Montrose Cheese and Wine) created a French and London influence concept. Service - Kelley was our server, and she was delightful. Ryan (I'm not sure if he's the GM?) checked on us frequently, and he really listened and provided great service. It's intricately designed, with hand painted murals by Pauline de Roussy de Sales, on the walls filled with people that look like me, love the inclusion. Upholstered round tables lining the walls. Beautiful light fixtures. And a self playing piano. All of this creates a nice environment to enjoy a night out for a special occasion or just to enjoy life. The servers are dressed to the nines, in white dinner jackets and black bow ties, so it's a more upscale vibe. Food - I ordered pretty much all the h'ordevers. The Kaluga Cavier toast- was a nice bite as it's one piece. The mussel toast comes with 5 pieces and was flavorful with a nice sauce. The English Gougere comes with 5 tiny puff pastries with a lovely creamy aged cheese inside. It could really be an after dinner last bite as well, as there is a sweetness to it. For my main, I got the scallop crudo- which was also tasty and on the lighter side but very bright. My friends enjoyed the Duck Wellington and the Seared Stripe Bass. I also had a bite of their asparagus salad. Which has parmesan and tarragon and what seems like lemon or something acidic as well. Not what I expected, but it was good. What an exquisite addition to Houston's special restaurants. Very beautiful, fancy, interesting, not at all stuffy. Definitely sit in the main dining room. The menu isn't too large but has some exciting options to pick and choose from. I loved the delightful caviar toast. I opted for a smaller dish of fish not chips that was just right, not too heavy and paired well with the tasty leek appetizer. Service was on point. Very attentive but not overly so. This gorgeous gem delivers in its London/Mayfair ambience with impeccable details like exquisite furniture and textiles, warm and opulent lighting, and tastefully whimsical wallpaper. Unfortunately, for me, the over-the-top impression ended there. The English Gougere could have been excellent had it not been for the overpowering marmalade. We did enjoy the Fish "not" Chips, which were pleasantly crispy and flavorful, and the Oysters and Shrimp Cocktail were fresh and delicious. The Duck Wellington was an interesting concept that I just had to try. While the pastry was perfectly baked, the duck, itself, was tough. Flavors were pleasantly complex and deep, but the texture was disappointing. But the biggest disappointment for me was the Dover Sole. The flesh was a tad overdone, which, for this dish, is devastating. It was on the dry side, and the lackluster butter sauce couldn't save it. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was also a bit of a letdown, but mostly because the version I had in London was one of the very best desserts I've ever had in my life. Honestly, I would give this restaurant another chance, because I personally appreciate ambiance and en pointe decor. read more

I return to a restaurant when well-prepared, appealing cuisine meets my food-police, nutritionally-dense criteria but it's staff that made dining at The Marigold Club an excellent experience which is saying a lot given the subtle crème fraîche laced menu which succeeds on the tastily compelling standard; the NE oysters or caviar selection from 5 countries. and the upholstered, calming ambiance. Oh the food was excellent, fine pastry wrapped, crème fraîche accented menu. The Marigold salad's crème fraîche dressing on bib lettuce with margold petals, attractive and delicious. But the real deal for me was not the food - it was the uniformly well-trained, efficient yet welcoming staff - a hostess instantly smiled a greeting, accommodated us with a table for 4 without reservations for an 11:30 weekend brunch. Our waiter charmed, smiled, and informed and the water server refilled glasses as they emptied; and most especially the sommelier, introduced me to a very fine champagne from among a long list. With encouragement from my birthday-celebrating spouse, I went past my comfort zone on price point. As we were finishing Brittany's suggested bottle, I ordered a bottle of California methode bubbles I have drunk for years which was half the price of Laurent Perrier Champagne Blanc de Blanc. After comparing the two wines side-by-side, I concluded Brittany knows wine and, bonus, she defies every negative sommelier stereotype from cartoons to movies. The ambiance and sumptuous decor immediately transports you to an elegant private dinner club you most likely experienced in London. The food was on point as was the service. Servers were attentive but unobtrusive. The only part of the restaurant that is disappointing is the side room that's very bright and not cozy. Only sit in the dining room with the player piano and decadent atmosphere. read more

First off, they have complimentary valet, so that's a big plus. The vibes were so cute inside! Our waiter, Eric, was truly delightful and helped my friend & I with any questions we had. We ordered the Kaluga caviar toast and the mussel escabeche toast for appetizers, which were both delicious. The main dishes we got were the roasted lamb lion and ricotta gnudi, which I felt the lamb was lacking something and the gnudi was too savory/salty. We also tried the onion rings, and although it was salty, the citrus yogurt definitely helped balance out the flavor. And for desserts we ordered the banoffee and chocolate friand along with a complimentary birthday dessert, and let me tell you, dessert was the absolute best part because it was not too sweet and the perfect size. Went with a large group for brunch in the newly redecorated atrium at the Marigold Club. The design in the atrium is absolutely stunning and brings it more in line with the feeling in the main dining room. Service was on point as always and the new brunch menu is outstanding. We started with the griddled banana bread, hand pies and marigold salad and for my main I had the French omelette. The omelette is utter perfection. Cooked beautifully and has just the right amount of cheese. I wish I could make it like this myself at home, but now I know just where to go! I had a bite of the chicken milanese as well and it was incredibly crispy and flavorful. A friend had the croque madame and loved it though she had to take half home because it was so large. Loving the brunch addition at this already phenomenal restaurant. read more
