The El Segundo location of Big 5 Sporting Goods seemed to be more of a miss than hit in this visit…read more Though I arrived with almost an hour still left before closing time, the staff seemed to maybe want to already be on their way out. Several loudspeaker announcements of, "We will be closing soon," rang out, even with 45 mins left available. Many of the racks were out of order and rather disheveled. I was also saddened to find that many items were sold out in needed sizes, with only larger sized items still available. One item that I needed was a small wrist brace, but only one was available in that size with the others available in Large. I did find that the brace was good for the value, but was still put off by the state of the store. Also, the staff was chatting around the floor a lot, leaving me waiting at the register for several moments without assistance. Hopefully next time will be better.

Terrible Customer Service Experience…read more It's unfortunate that customer service is so horrible these days. I called to check on a Sprayground backpack that my daughter has been asking for. Cassidy answered the phone and told me they were sold out. I simply asked if she could check to see which location might have it available. She said I needed the SKU number, so I asked if there was a way for her to help me find the SKU online. Before I could even finish the conversation, she hung up in my face. I was optimistic and assumed it may have been an accident, so I called back. Cassidy answered again, and when I said, "Hi, I just got disconnected about the backpack," her response was, "OH MY GOD!" At that point, I was extremely disappointed. I was simply trying to purchase a backpack for my daughter and expected basic courtesy and assistance. She eventually recommended that I go to Zumiez instead. I also spoke with a manager, whose name I unfortunately don't remember. While I appreciate that someone eventually addressed the situation, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. A simple "I'm sorry, we're unable to help with that" would have been enough. Hanging up on a customer and then responding with "OH MY GOD!" when they call back is completely unacceptable customer service. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and uses it as an opportunity to improve the customer experience.
