It had been a long time since I've eaten at Outback. A past experience was not at all good. Outback and Bonefish Grill are now owned by the same corporation and offer a rewards program that links the two restaurants together and so since we have found that Bonefish is so amazing I thought I would give Outback another try. My son Robert and I heard about their Wednesday night special steak with fries and a beer for $9.99. As it turns out this is a great deal. The steaks were rather small but perfectly cooked and very well seasoned. The fries were done with the proper amount of seasoning and our server was a delight. A bud light tied it together and all for a price that's hard to beat. I am sure we will return. Both restaurants, Outback and Bonefish, offer apps that allow you to pay your tab from your smart phone. This makes it so simple. We called ahead and asked the wait time, which we told them we had a party of 7 and 2 babies. They asked if we minded back to back booths. We said we didnt mind at all. This was at 5:07 We were coming from a restaurant down the street that had a 45 min wait. Drove the 5 min down the street, after being told our table would be ready when we got there. False! Waited until 6:40!to be sat. Waited 20 min. at our table for our drinks...got bread...just no drinks. After that the food came out fairly quickly. The steak I ordered here was their Original main steak. Fabulous! I got the lobster sauce that they put on top. Priceless I also went to the Las Vegas location, on the strip, and it wasnt nearly as awesome as this steak was in little old Bakersfield. The food was great we were seated right away and received a blooming onion free for using the app. The food here is pretty good for the price. The ribeye could have been cooked a little better but overall a very good experience. We've gone here twice in the past year or so. The first time, both our steaks were way overcooked. Waitress and manager didn't care. Told ourselves we wouldn't go back...well we got a gift card so we gave it a second chance. Same. Exact. Story. I should have know nothing had changed when the manager (same one) was apologizing to a guy as he left the restaurant. Again, both mine and my wife's steaks were burnt. Burnt is putting it lightly, they were completely charred and black. This time the manager at least took the steaks off the bill, but we left hungry. We could not wait for more to be recooked as we had to be somewhere else and it had already taken forever..which explains how they got so burnt I suppose. Manager did apologize as we left, she seems to have gotten very good at it! Avoid this place. Always busy, always disappointing. I've had enjoyable experiences at other outbacks, but not this one. read more

They have a separate Gluten Free menu (just ask the host or server) and they even bring the GF meal out separately so you know they take allergies seriously. The host should not block the door trying to expediate things by the iPad check in procedure; it truly slows things down while blocking the door. Upon finding seats in the bar, at the same time as the couple in the booth next to us, we waited significantly longer for everything. The manager even sat with the couple and the food server went on and on and ON with the neighboring patrons with several visits to their table, while we hadn't even been given ANY service. I was giving this place a second chance after Christmas Eve when ants were covering our bench seat and marched across our table. At that visit, we were moved to another table but no grand apology or compensation or free dessert or anything. Will things improve here? We have always enjoyed eating at Outback. We've been going there for years. Most of the time the steaks and other meat are cooked precisely the way we asked for them. Prices are average or lower and we can typically both eat for $40 - $60, depending on drinks and tip. Service is always friendly and pretty speedy. Quality is fairly consistent between Outbacks in different locations we've tried, and we've been to Outbacks in several cities and states. We would recommend that you try Outback. We think you'll be pleased. But, try to get there early as they fill up quickly and the waits can get long. Calling ahead and making reservations is highly recommended. read more

It is the best--no waiting, deliver to the car in special parking place AND--we usually are LUCKY enough to get NOLAN who PERFECTLY packs our order. It has been a long time since I last ate here. I doubt I will ever be going back. I went out with my family for a Birthday Dinner and was very unsatisfied. For starters, the blooming onion that was brought out looked dead. It was so cold as well. They did however bring us out a new one. We haven't been to Outback in a while and probably will not return. Our kids have always loved the Mac and Cheese, and it's their go to meal. Even now as they are getting older, it's still their pick. However, if you are over the age of 10, they charge you $2 extra over the regular price. That's perfectly fine, if they give you a bit larger portion, but that isn't the case. They are simply charging you extra to be over the age of 10. The alternative is to order an adult meal, which is a much larger portion of Mac and cheese for double the price. It doesn't come with anything extra, no vegetable, fruit or anything. This has never happened any other time we have eaten there, but apparently it is now their policy. I guess next time we skip this restaurant. Bummer! read more

Came tonight and we were so disappointed, we ordered 2 10 oz ribeyes, one with lobster and one with coconut shrimp, 2 salads, 2 soups one French onion, one potato soup both soups were luke warm, the steaks we ordered were ordered medium rare both came out well done. The bread was hard and cold the beer was warm.. we have ate here a few times but never had a meal this terrible before.. the server came by once to take our order the next to drop it off.. no refills on tea or beer.. for 100 dollars that includes tip we will never be back sizzler is better than this! read more

2 Star because I wasn't very much satisfied. I really only came here because I'm from out of town and they don't have a Texas Roadhouse here in Bakersfield. First off, our hostess threw my coaster at me and was totally rude. Our food took about 1 hour to come out & when I asked for A1 sauce it came after the 3rd time asking and when I was dam near done with my steak. This is the only restaurant in town where I feel safe eating off their gluten-free menu. Everywhere else I've had a reaction to their purportedly gluten-free items. And I've had issues at Outback Steakhouses in other cities too. So I wouldn't recommend all locations of this chain if you have celiac or gluten intolerance issues (which is probably obvious since they're all run by different people). Service is okay here.
