Great food and service. Fabio and Marco went out of their way to serve us promptly and with very great attitudes. They were very friendly and made our experience here even better.

    Prime rib

I came here on a business trip two months ago and had an amazing prime rib dinner. Tonight I returned on business, and when I approached the host (Samuel) to be seated, he not only asked me if I'd like the same booth as last time, but also remembered my food and wine order from meeting me once two months prior. I don't know who his supervisor is, but he needs a raise and a promotion. 10/10 recommend

    Chilaquiles

This restaurant is conveniently located in the lobby of the Marriott, right next to the Mechanics Bank Arena. We had about an hour and a half to wait between events at the arena. It was raining outside and we didn't want to walk anywhere, so we decided to eat here. We were seated right away and ordered shortly after. And then the wait began. At first we were like it's cool, we have plenty of time. After 30 minutes we got nervous, and after 45 panic set in. We finally got our food after close to an hour wait. And for the record, it was not busy. In fact, we were one of the last people left in the restaurant at this point. The food was average. Like cafeteria quality. It was ok. I got Chilaquiles which comes with eggs. Our server had asked how I wanted my eggs. I said over hard, and specified please not runny. Well it was like pure liquid. I know some people love that. I'm not one of those people, which is why I asked specifically to make sure they were not runny. When it came time to pay, we presented our Yelp check-in offer. Our server went and got a manager. The manager looked at it and said what is this? I explained. She said "ya we don't do that. The only time you get a discount here is if you work for Marriott." Okie dokie then. So I'm not a fan, but I would go back given similar circumstances. I now know to have low expectations. Pricey food that is edible.

Fried calamari and cocktail sauce. Surprisingly good.

This restaurant is a solid three star experience. Turkey club. I always ask, "Is the turkey carved fresh roast turkey or is it luncheon meat?" I absolutely abhor luncheon meat turkey. The waiter said it is definitely fresh carved turkey. I was excited. It was not. The turkey was that really wet off-white luncheon meat. The fries. I always request my fries extra crispy, and these were fantastic. They were fresh cooked, and salted to perfection. The fried calamari. I was surprised that the fried calamari actually seemed pretty fresh. It was not frozen Costco calamari that was reheated. The service was very friendly, although misinformed. The highlight of the meal was definitely the fries in the calamari. If I'd stop there this would have been a solid four-star review.

I really enjoyed my salad! I had the red zin as well, which was okay. The salad was such a large quantity, but I did spend some time sitting at the restaurant while working- so I picked at it quite a bit. The staff was also very attentive and helpful. And as I mentioned, I was working, and no one minded. It was pretty empty, but I'm not sure how many folks who are not staying at the hotel would go to the restaurant. But the entrance display was really nice, and was very accessible and available to the guests.

We attended a Cheer competition for our daughter at the Mechanics Bank Arena and were hungry in between our club's performances. We were going to walk somewhere downtown but the weather was not in our favor so we ended up here. When you first enter the greeting area looks somewhat upscale leading you to believe that this was going to be a really good spot. There were only a few booths and mainly tables and chairs. The server seemed frustrated that we had not decided what we wanted to eat when she returned with our drinks. Being our first time we were taking our time going through the menu which was fairly small but none the less we were trying to make the best choice. They had a buffet option which we looked at and looked like less than what you would get from a Hilton hotel for free. I ended up choosing the Benedict. It took quite some time to get our food and did not get refills on our drinks while waiting. When the food finally arrived I was disappointed in the quality and flavor, to top it off they stated the coupon in Yelp was only for employees?!?!? I'm pretty sure Yelp is not randomly making coupons with out consulting with the businesses first. Don't think we will be coming back here anytime soon.

Usual Marriott lobby restaurant setting. My server was very nice and attentive. Unfortunately, my Parmesan chicken dish was extremely salty, and the chicken breast, although a nice portion, was quite tough. There was a lemon caper sauce the entire dish was resting on, which was way too lemony. So between the caper's salt and the lemon overload, it was not a pleasant dish. There was supposed to be arugula on the side, but those wilted green things were them! The rolls that were brought were little dense doughballs with no flavor. If I stay here at the Marriott again, I'll be ordering Doordash in. (One additional star for the server)

Typical Marriott breakfast, good for a nice morning breakfast and portions are filling. Good service considering how busy it was at 8:00am. Starbucks is also served here which is life changing (if you know me). Overall a good place for a bite when starting at Marriott.

Good food and great service! I had chicken Cajun pasta because it was recommended . It was fragrant and tasty. The complimentary rolls were a great combo with the pasta. Our server Josh did a fantastic job at attending us. He was polite and the service was fast!

One of the most depressing dishes I have ever eaten .

I was so very super excited about having the opportunity to eat here, after going through many of the reviews and researching a great place to eat in Bakersfield ,this seemed like a very good option. The Host & Waitress were gracious kind and my water glass was never empty. I was absolutely starving and usually when I am at such a point everything tastes delicious. I asked the waitress for the largest plate available I didn't even ask the cost or look at the menu , she said it was chicken something and I said I'll have it. The plate was just okay, it was very salty and the chicken breast was super thin and The mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a Ready-Mix, I would give it a 4/10 I had very hi-hopes and was let down. (this was for dinner Service ) I also had the opportunity to have Breakfast Buffet here. The breakfast tasted like cafeteria food , bacon was over-cooked, the only good thing was the orange juice and Activia, the bagel warming machine was off kilter, the potatoes were cold, it was very disappointing. But the Morning Waitress was Fantastic and totally on point , that's why I gave it an extra star.

    Artichoke Dip

The first time we ate here, the service was incredibly slow, but we ordered Cioppino and it was really good. The broth was a good consistency and very flavorful. They were not stingy with the fish either! On our most recent visit, the service was better although it did take some time to get our food. We ordered the artichoke dip and I loved it. So did everyone else at the table because the bowl it came in got scraped clean! I got the Skirt Steak beef dip and found it delectable. It had a good strong garlic flavor and was very expertly complimented by grilled portabello mushrooms and swiss cheese. I also really appreciated the toasted ciabatta bread on this sandwich because it was able to be dipped in the au jus without falling apart. I enjoyed the mild seasoning on the fries as well. The cocktails on the menu looked really really good and I hope to try one next time!

The nines Brown lettuce Caesar. The dressing was tasty but the lettuce was old. Croutons were old too.

My husband commented that it made him want to move to Bakersfield which made our server Emily laugh. Limited parking in back and some street parking. We walked in without a reservation at 11:15 on a Friday and were the first customers of the day. Great decor, dim lighting, vintage looking furniture which does not sacrifice comfort for artistry. Our cocktails and meals were spectacular: Botanist Fashioned: 5/5-the brown sugar cinnamon syrup added a spicy bite to each sip which was unexpected and fun. Watermelon Sugar High:4/5-refreshing with watermelon juice freshly made in house and an ice cube with mint frozen in it. Seared cauliflower: 4/5-great appetizer for 2. The crispy chicken sandwich and the Botanist smash burger:5/5-Both had super flavorful pickles and toasted buns which always add a lovely crunch to each bite. Of course, I had to try their famous tri-tip sandwich and added a side of fries. The sandwich was loaded with tri-tip, tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with their BBQ sauce. I also ordered the Southwestern salad with chicken, and when I opened the container, I was honestly impressed by how much food they packed in there. It was huge, fresh, and loaded with chicken, avocado, black beans, corn, peppers, and plenty of toppings. Definitely not one of those salads that leaves you hungry afterward! I also have to give Firestone Grill credit for the sauces. They gave me two large containers of BBQ sauce AND two generous containers of dressing. As someone who hates when restaurants give you one tiny sauce for an entire meal, I appreciated that more than I probably should. No sauce rationing over here! I did takeout this time, but they offer self-seating and have a full bar, so next time I definitely want to dine in, grab a drink, and enjoy the full experience

10 stars! Hands down - great customer service and amazing ribeye!…read moreI have been staying in Bakersfield for work and tonight, I ordered the ribeye. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare. It comes with either the option of soup or salad so I chose a salad. It also comes with two sides, and I chose the rice, pilaf and steamed vegetables. Madison took my order over the phone. She is very friendly, helpful, patient and told me the order would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived at exactly 20 minutes and my order was ready. She brought the food out and quickly took my payment. Easy peasy transaction. The ribeye was perfectly grilled at medium rare. It is so tender, juicy and flavorful! Major kudos to the chef! The steaks were cooked to perfection! Wife had a med-well filet, which she said was very tender, and I had the rare ribeye with chimichurri. It was only a dollar more for the chimichurri, but unfortunately that chimichurri is what cost this review a star. It was blended into some kind of green sauce/goop. I'm not from Argentina, but even I felt like I needed to apologize to Argentina after seeing it haha. Oh, I forgot to mention the tableside salad is fun! They bring out a salad tray and prepare your salad tableside. I highly recommend it! All in all, I will come back! I wouldn't order the chimichurri next time, but would get the ribeye again and spinach artichoke dip again.

A Delicious Thank You to Teachers!…read more What an incredibly thoughtful way to give back to the community! One of our teachers at school entered a drawing for a free catered lunch from Locale Farm to Table, and we were so lucky to win! The drawing was the owner Heather's way of giving back and showing her appreciation for teachers. She was especially touched by our teacher's story, which made the win feel even more meaningful. Many of us who work at the school already dine at Locale and absolutely love the food, so we knew we were in for a treat. Heather brought some of their most popular dishes, including a hot honey goat cheese spread with Pyrenees bread, roasted butternut squash and Brussels sprouts, a fresh garden salad, and a chocolate and strawberry pastry for dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious! What really stood out, though, was how much thought Heather put into making sure everyone could enjoy the meal. She heard that we had some vegetarians among us and went above and beyond by preparing additional dishes without bacon so everyone had plenty to eat. That extra touch meant so much and really showed how genuinely caring and thoughtful she is. Having this incredible meal right before the first day of school was such a special treat. Teachers and school staff work incredibly hard, and feeling appreciated in such a generous way was truly wonderful. Thank you, Heather, for your generosity, kindness, and for supporting our school community! We are so grateful, and, of course, already looking forward to our next visit to Locale!
