We had a really good experience coming here for dinner. We sat in the bar area to avoid the wait which suited us just fine. I tried to surprise my wife with one of the happy hour drinks as we just got there in time. In my haste, I forgot to ensure that all ingredients were gluten free. Our server went and asked about the ingredients and we couldn't be sure, so they ended up giving us another. He was such a good sport about it and the manager or shift leader also came out. Awesome job there. My wife got a steak, which is why we came here and it was great. I had the pork chop as I wasn't in the mood for beef. while I was expecting a thick one, it was more thin and bone in. Probably just slightly over done to my liking, but it was good. I'm not incredibly sure how this place is Australian or why, but as long as the bloomin' onion sticks around I'll give it to them. Any steakhouse can be pricey. Outback is really no exception. However, I've never felt suckered into small portions and huge prices here. There are a few things Outback will always get right to me and I'll simply list them. 1. Bloomin Onion - it's not just a fried onion. It's a fried onion sprinkled with something so magical it must be illegal. Don't even bother going to Outback if you don't order this. It's just wrong. 2. French Onion Soup - Okay, so I'm starting to see I may have an onion problem. Layered with cheese, this soup isn't your ordinary soup. Again, it must be illegal, it's so good! 3. BREAD & BUTTER! - save all that brown bread for me. So delicious! 4. Fosters Beer on tap - Delicious Australian beer on tap. What more needs to be said? No, I didn't miss the steak and all that jazz. Been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. It was nice to see it survive through covid and come back bustling with life. We throughly enjoyed our post covid lockdown dinner. Wait wasn't long, they had seating inside and out. Service was excellent! We always get the bloomin onion and the coconut shrimp, my go to appetizers. Ive had just about everything here and dont have any complaints. This visit we did our usual appetizers then tried out the new bloomin fried chicken. I have to say it was pretty good. Only thing was if you have the bloomin onion and then have the bloomin chicken then you kinda get a little bit of bloomin overload, although most wont eat half a bloomin onion to themselves lol. Anyway the beers were super cold and the wallaby darns (must have) were perfect!. For me, not a good experience. Too mush of a rush. I placed my order and they brought my drink and bread. Before I could butter the first piece, the salad arrived. A couple bites of salad and the food arrived. I asked the runner if they were in a hurry. She just said, "yeah, right?" And walked away. I paid extra and got the wedge salad. Very good. I ordered the bloomin fried chicken and a sweet potato. I didn't like the chicken. The bloomin seasoning and batter very over powering. A few weeks ago, we had returned for dinner with friends. It still remains, a shiny 4 star review! It is always busy here and the parking lot is usually jammed! Seafood is hard to come by in Bakersfield. Sure, it is going to be frozen here but Outback is doing something right over all the other places. I can taste it. I asked for my steak rare and they delivered. My lobster was pretty good too. Nothing was overcooked and that is key for me. I liked the veg (broccoli) and I am a sucker for a baked potato too, done right. All 4 of us had a nice time, did not have to wait too long for anything and our waiter was professional and did his best to deliver great service. I feel for the value, you get a good portion sized plate. (I brought half my meal home for the next day) It helps too that you get to start off with yummy pumpernickel bread. Had the 6oz sirloin and coconut shrimp combo here at Outback, along with some of the appetizers you can see in the pictures. Everything tasted really good, the coconut shrimp and the sirloin really stood out to me as the highlight of the meal. Roughy out some warm complementary bread for starters. He made some really good suggestions. Wednesday night they have some great specials. For not going to this specific Outback for more than 10 years, it hasn't changed one bit. We had a big party and they seated us right away which was nice. I think our party ordered one of everything on the appetizer list and I think I had one of everything too so it was ddifnately a plus for the beginning of the meal. The staff was very nice and very on point with making sure drink orders were taken and that they never wbt empty. The restaurant in general was very clean which was a plus from what I had heard from an unnamed source. Food was good the presentation just wasn't that great. The appetizers had a lot more flare than the main course. I would say overall I will definately give this place a thought more often as a good date nite or family choice restaurant. read more

Back in the day, the family would have almost weekly dinners at the Outback Steakhouse in our hometown. I essentially grew up on their bread. Since my childhood, I have not been back very often though and in the recent past, if we count this year only, I have only been twice. And that's after a couple year break. I was excited to reminisce about the easy going food and fun atmosphere while showing visiting friends what I enjoyed back in the day as a go to steakhouse. Sadly not all the points hit home as expected. Service: bartender was overwhelmed. Not the busiest of nights but the bar was about 80% full yet we only saw one bartender and one helper. Needless to say it took a while to get a menu (I actually got up and picked one up myself after waiting too long) and took a while for the order as well. Food: of course we got the bloomin onions! But I wish I had taken a picture of how sad it looked. Not sure if they changed their recipe and/or serving size but it looked pathetic. I was embarrassed to have bragged so much about this appetizer. The steaks were good, but our favorite this evening were the ribs. Those were cooked really well and the meat fell off the bone. Proprietor Lori Hart is cruel and hateful to homeless people. A homeless gentleman who was nowhere near the front of the restaurant offered to relinquish the shaded parking space he was sitting in so we could park and we told him to stay there because it was hot and that was the only shaded area away from a storefront. We went inside and ordered food for him and Lori had him run off. At that point he was a paying to-go customer. She was willing to take our money and let food go to waste because of her disdain for homeless people. This man was not begging or making a mess, he was just trying to rest in the shade. You would assume when ordering a meal with steak that you would receive the steak in the box?? For a $25 plate I only received the 2 sides and steak sauce in the bag, but no steak. Called in to speak to the manager Lori to see if she could help me. No help at all unfortunately. We were greeted with friendly faces and smiles despite the 35 min to close. We asked if apps were still being served and they gladly told us the entire menu was being served still, and reassured us that it was no trouble if we would like to have dinner... so we took them up on the offer. We all three ordered the Outback special all with very different requests and everything arrived hot, perfectly cooked and delicious! Thats ok tho they took it off the ticket and I know the staffing struggles these days. So to only have an fryer oil issue they're doing great!
