The food in itself (steaks) was good but the potato was cold. These outback's have changed in the past four years from well managed to two star eateries. The interior of the last two we visited smelled funny and did not appear clean or sanitized in any way. The tables are uncomfortable and outdated. An Outback with an attitude. Beyond the waitstaff, who were excellent on both visits, this Outback has a serious attitude problem... surly, slow bartenders and a hostess who ignored me to speak to two girlfriends when I walked in then, while she was bringing me to my table, went back to finish her conversation. I hate to be a broken record on some of these reviews but I used to own a restaurant and have worked as a waiter for a large part of my early life... the management is missing here. When you have five young women hanging around the reception desk gossiping and bartenders who shove drinks at customers without a look much less a comment, management is failing. read more

Upon entering we were told there would be a 45 minute wait, which we were fine with. After 30 minutes of waiting, we noticed people coming in after us and seating themselves. When I asked, I was told that those seats were first come, first served seats. Basically, we could have eaten almost immediately upon entering, but because we've never eaten here before, we had no idea, nor were we informed of that option. We had ribs which were mostly fat, but what meat we could find was tasty. The fries were old and grease-laden. We also had a New York strip steak which was a nice size, but had absolutely no seasoning. They only reason I give our experience 4 stars was because we had a terrific server, Shawn, who was polite and attentive. read more

I am not usually a big fan of this chain BUT I had a great experience tonight. Ate at the bar after flying in on a late flight. Tired and hungry. Reluctantly ordered the seared Ahi tuna appetizer. Being from Florida I was worried but more worried about my cholesterol test in 10 days:) it was perfect and Andrea's service was amazing. As you know if you see my reviews I don't give 5 stars often. They were rude and when we got our drinks our waitress threw our straws at us and when they gave up our salad they gave us fat free ranch and it was really gross and when I got a sweet tea they oh most spilt it on me and it didn't have any sugar in it. read more

What was that old slogan for Outback--"No rules, just right" or something to that effect? To back up a moment, Downtown Charleston has largely been supplanted by the Charleston Center Mall. As four of us were on business at the nearby courthouse, the mall seemed to be the closest to head over here for lunch. Outback does have some lunch specials and I tried the 6 Coconut Shrimp with some soup. Food was alright, service was good. Outback reminds me a lot of Buffalo Wild Wings--good but nothing I'd go out of my way for. Personally, I'd have preferred going to the nearby Chili's but I was outvoted 3-1. Four years ago, we stopped in this Outback on a cross country trip. The experience was so awful, we have never returned. In fact, because of that visit, we have never gone to any Outback. Until now. On a recent stop in Charleston, we decided to give them another try. The service was outstanding, very cheerful and helpful. My ribeye came out, supposed to be medium and it was well-done and quite thin. Nothing like the ribeye taste they gave us in the lobby while waiting for a table. But then, the waitress said, "That does not look like what you ordered." I told her it was fine and i would keep it. The manager then appeared and said, "Give me three minutes to give you a perfect ribeye." I said, "okay." And he delivered. The ribeye that came out was wonderful, excellent char, perfectly medium. BTW. my daughter loved her mac n cheese, my wife loved her filet mignon, and my other daughter loved her chicken strips. The blooming onion was a little droopy. It came out so fast, i assume it was sitting in the pass. i give them high marks. And we will come again. read more

I remembered our waitress' name...till I got on here to post! she was awesome, name starts with a C, has a matching Crash Bandacoot tattoo with her husband lol. Two visits a year apart. Both times they were significantly late on their promised times, this time by two hours.

The service was great, I ordered the filet mignon and lobster. There is no way the steak was a filet. It did not cut or taste like one. Was disappointed, because the price did not change even though the type of steak did. I guess they think people are dumb about cuts of meat, will not go back. Decided to go to Outback as it was something different than our usual. Did call ahead seating since it was a Saturday night, we expected it to be busy. Arrived and had to wait about 20 minutes. Not a big deal. Host Ty was passing out appetizers to everyone that was waiting. Once we were seated, our waitress Jordan kept our drinks filled and our food delivered hot and prompt. Ty was constantly checking on diners and entertaining those waiting for tables. Food was amazing! I cannot express how much this dining experienced changed my view of the Outback. I had not had good experiences, until yesterday. I asked for the manager and relayed my positive dining experience and told him point blank that he needed to hire more people like Jordan and Ty! They absolutely made my night! We will be going back and asking for Jordan as our waitress. read more

Very tasty food. Servers and manager were great with service. I was lack on fries and they brought another helping to make it square. Many places wouldn't do that. We had a very attentive server and all our food [see pics] was satisfactory. Pretty great for a quasi-Australian restaurant. Must say. My wife and I walked over to the restaurant to eat from our hotel. They have first come first serve booth seating in the bar area which made it nice. Food was very good, waitress was good at her job and honest. Prices were average and would definitely eat here again. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I asked the hostess for a towel to wipe my seat off because it was wet and she told me my sever would have one, so my wife and I stood by our table for about 3 minutes until I Interrupted a waitress and she brought a napkin to wipe off my seat not a towel. read more

Not sure who your mama get Michelle is but I would train her a bit better in dealing with messed up orders.... I got a delivery. She literally told me I should check my own food before it leaves the store. She didn't even offer to fix the mistake or attempt to do so. She didn't even bother to pull up my ticket until I finally asked for corporates number.... I'm not one to call corporate period I also manage food and know it can be stressful and that mistakes do happen ... but I just spent 110.00 dollars and tipped 15% so that I can now sit here and eat a plain potato after having a manager basically not give a crap about the fact that it could have easily been fixed. We was coming to Charleston today to take the kIds to monster jam. I got online at 12 today to get us on the waitlist because I knew walking in was gonna take forever to get seated. I made the time for 5:15, we got there a few minutes before and the hostess said it would be 2hrs before they could seat us. I was furious, why even have an option like that if you still have to wait. I knew this wasn't a reservation but I figured it would but us on there so they could be ready, guess not. This is by far my top choice in a casual night out for dinner. I have never waited more than 40 minutes (during Christmas shopping time) for a table. Service is always great, very rarely anything wrong with preparation or quality of food and in any instance of this occurring it has been taken care of without a hitch. One instance where Outback was running the Steak & Lobster special, they were out of lobster tails. Although this was not that big of an inconvenience, the manager tried outrageously hard to satisfy us. He offered us a plate of shrimp and other seafood for free, walked to another restaurant next door to see if he could get some lobster tails, didn't charge us for our drink, and ultimately gave us dinner free & gave us a $50 gift certificate. This manager went way above and beyond, so the comments above about bad management is not a good representation of this eatery. My wife & I eat here from 1 to sometimes 3 times per week and very very rarely have any problems, when they do occur they are minor and easily fixed. read more

We took 22 people out to eat . Steak wasn't good, and the quesadilla was burnt. They would not serve my 82 year old mother a Sam Adams beer because she had no ID. It was clear that she was over the age of 21. The manager stated in WV you had to have ID , but the law says it is clearly evident that they were over the legal age it was ok to serve. The waitress was EXTREMELY RUDE!! She Was not friendly and never once smiled. We have come here 2 years in a row to celebrate our family, but no more will they get our $350. read more
