I am giving this Outback a 3 because of the poor service. We were seated and 3 servers stood in the back, none offered to take our drink orders. Another waitress came walking by about 3-4 times and did not acknowledge us. I finally had to ask the hostess if we even had a server. Do they have mangers in these place or only high school and college kids working? I do have to say when we did finally get a server she was very good. She seemed to be one of the only servers in this Outback working. I did not get her name or I would thank her personally. We will not be going back to this Outback anytime soon. read more

Crappy experience as normal. 9 times out of 10 that's what it is. I'm only here because friends were making the selection. You ask for a seating accommodation and it's like they punish you for waiting less than 2 minutes after you verify you are on the list to ask that you have someplace with a chair because of needs of a member of your party. Horrible experience. I waited 7 minutes @ my table & still wasnt said hello or given water. I was totally ignored. A couple that came in 5 minutes after I did sat right across from me & was served before I was. I spoke with the Manager & he apologized for what happened. He offered to comp my food & I said no. This is my very first Yelp review. Can I leave zero stars? Please, just this once? We returned home from my dad's birthday celebration dinner a little while ago and we want a do-over. Somewhere else. We knew we were in trouble when we walked in at 3:30 p.m. -- the place filled to the brim with empty tables and the hostess asked us to hold on while she went to clean a table. After she walked away, we looked at each other like "whaaa?" THEN we started noticing most of the empty tables had not even been cleaned yet. How long they had sat there dirty since the after church rush was anybody's guess. The hostess cleaned off a table way off near the restrooms then on the way back got distracted by a dirty table in the bar area, stopped to clean that one and sat us there instead. We sat. And sat. Looked around to see the employees there standing around chatting. Sat some more. Glanced at our watches. WHERE WAS OUR SERVER??? Seriously, we sat there 20 minutes before who we thought was our server came to get our drink order. It took another 20 minutes to get our waters, which were brought out by Anna, a different server. How long does it take to fix three glasses of water in a mostly empty restaurant? Twenty minutes when most if not all of your employees are taking the idea of having a leisurely Sunday to the extreme. I half expected to see some of them taking naps. Maybe some were and just out of eyesight. We were NOT in a leisurely Sunday mood. We had a dog home alone who was hungry for his dinner. Mom asked Anna if they were shorthanded on help, but Anna blew it off with "No" and a blathering of excuses. They WEREN'T short on help. The staff was just doing as little actual work as possible. Dad had requested his salad dressing on the side; it came out fully on the salad. Mom's was on the side. Not only did the server staff not know nor care what they were doing or in any hurry to do it, so was the kitchen staff. We then waited 45 minutes for our steaks. I ordered the sirloin, Mom ordered the filet mignon and Dad ordered a New York strip. Our entrees came out mixed up as well, with me getting the filet and Mom the sirloin. Dad got his New York strip, but he said it was barely edible. When you're paying $21.95 for a meal, it dang sure better be cooked right. This was reaching ridiculous-level bad service. When Anna finally showed up to take our plates after we finished, Dad asked for a small to-go box for his leftover steak (to take home to the dog). Anna left, then busied herself chatting nonchalantly with the bartender for 15 minutes, then disappeared into the kitchen. No lie, it took a half hour for her to return ... sans to-go box but with milkshakes the customers next to us. By that time Mom and I had busied ourselves wrapping the meat in Kleenex. Anna asked where the meat was, and I said in a clipped tone, "We're wrapping it in Kleenex because we never got our to-go box we requested a half hour ago." She apologized, saying she had been working on the milkshakes, and I came THISCLOSE to saying, "You would have finished them a lot sooner had you not wasted 15 minutes chit-chatting when you had customers waiting." Clearly frustrated, Dad was like, "Just bring our bill please." Anna suddenly went into overdrive and speedily returned with it, where it was promptly paid and we left. Yes, the parents left a $3 tip despite the HORRIBLE service which completely RUINED my dad's planned nice dinner out. (I wouldn't have left a DIME. Anna didn't earn it. She's lucky my parents are passive). The man is 71 years old now, and birthdays are becoming more precious each year. We hoped to go make some great memories, but instead walked away with a bitter taste in our mouths. If it had been up to me, I would have gotten the manager involved, but my parents didn't want to "cause a scene." So ... I'll just cause one here by leaving this scathing review. I'm not passive when there's a need to speak up. The last couple of times we've been to this location, the same thing has happened. We returned because we thought maybe we just caught them on a bad night. That clearly is not the case. This restaurant, which sadly used to be one of the nicer ones in town -- is in the toilet and we will never return. I want to support local businesses, but Chattanooga and Cleveland are the same distance away and we will support Outback Steakhouse there instead from now on. At least they care about their customers, their food preparation and service top to bottom. The Dalton location doesn't give a damn. Here's a clue, management and staff: Your customers do. Don't bother trying to contact me to make it right. It's too late. You've lost three customers, and we will tell our friends to avoid this location as well. read more

My wife and I were in desperate need of a great steak while visiting​ ​Dalton, so the natural choice was Outback. But we both also wanted a great beer experience​. After we were seated, we reviewed​ the menu and discovered that the only beers listed were the usual tasteless watered​ down pale lagers. You know, the elite of America​ brewing, e.g. Bud, Miller, Coors and a couple of other international brews of similar ilk. We asked​ if there were any IPAs to be had and were assured that there was one. In bottles! Whaaat?? There are two craft breweries in Dalton but none of their brews were on tap. In an era of massive and growing demand for craft beers nation-wide, the fact that Outback hasn't heard of it is a bit of a mystery. And disappointment. We left​ and went to Chilis. No steak, but a couple of fine pints of one of Dalton Brewing's IPAs made up for it. read more

This Outback has steadily gone downhill and now has reached the bottom. We've stopped going here as a family due to the food quality. We recently ate here with business guests only because our standby restaurants downtown were closed on a Monday for some unknown reason. Bad choice to go here! Our "filets" looked like cheep pre-shaped 1/4" thick hamburgers with the texture of mystery meet from a mall Chinese restaurant. These were not beef filets as anyone would expect. They didn't even resemble a filet, more a like a thin grey hockey puck. The chicken breasts one of our guests received must have been cooked at lunch or the day before and reheated to tough dry texture. When veggies were asked to be served "dry" they were served drenched in margarine. The sesame ahi tuna salad was good so there was one redeeming quality in the meal. Overall we were embarrassed. Why didn't we complain you ask? Well the server said that a regional or district manager was in town so we didn't want to cause issues for the local manager. However... We won't be back as a family or business unless things get turned around. read more

From food being left off of order, steaks not cooked properly, fake apologies from manager " I will mail you a gift card for our mistake". Card never came and like a dummy I ordered again and ask about that gift card and said it would be coming. It never has. We wanted to order last night online but common sense took over and I ordered at Longhorn. Other issues have came up but I over looked them. It all starts at the top must be a management problem. My family and I are (well were until last night) loyal customers for years. I don't know who they hired to cook since the last time we were there but they need to be fired immediately, as well as whoever had a hand in packing our curbside order. We asked for bread - we were given no bread. We ordered cheesy Aussie fries with extra cheese and bacon - regular amount of cheese and bacon. No ranch dipping sauce for fries either. My ribeye (which was almost $20) was improperly cooked AND seasoned. All the seasoning was in one spot on my steak and tasted horrible. My husband's grilled asparagus was horrid and the extra shrimp that I paid an additional $6 was rubbery and inedible, plus was put into the same plate as my son's chicken finger plate. This was such a disappointment in so many ways that we will not be returning. I've had way better results with my food at Western Sizzlin for almost a third of the price. When I spend over $60 for a meal for my family, I expect some d*mn good quality. We won't be making this mistake again. Bone in Rib Eye w/Roasted Garlic Butter... OMG, this steak is the leader of the pack... very flavorful, huge, tremendous flavor. Plate presentation was wonderful... it's been a while since we've been to Outback... but I gotta tell ya... they have ramped up their game... very impressed.. the bartender ladies were professional and place was very clean. Great service and an excellent kitchen. Even when the house is packed there is a well oiled front of house staff that keeps things moving. also got a sample of the shrimp scampi while waiting for a seat. My favorite since my first trip to outback many years ago is the Alice Springs Chicken and they cook it to perfection at this location. The steaks are often a bit too seasoned for my taste but the new menu offers a different seasoning profile that allows the steak to shine. Definitely check out the online ordering system. My husband and I ate here on Saturday night. There was a wait and it was very packed but I was very impressed that someone came around with free appetizers (sydney shrooms) for those of us who were waiting. Our waiter was very good and knowledgeable. We were treated very well and the food was fantastic. I got the 6oz victoria's filet with sweet potato and seasonal veggies. I had not gone to an outback in a while and it seems the chain continues to be going downhill. The food that used to be a staple is now sub par. I had their seafood special, which turned out to be overcooked lobster tail (plasticky), shrimp dripping in greasy sauce and crab cakes that were overly salty with little crab to speak of. Staff was inexperienced and inattentive. The Sam Adams was fresh and cheap that's why they didn't land with just one star. Very disappointed in what used to be a family favorite of ours. read more

Its a shame I had to put a star on this review because this place doesn't deserve one! No stars were given to the Outback in Dalton, GA due to their inability to honor any reservation my family has made. Being a part of a big family (14 people) we have to warn most places that we are coming. Common courtesy when a lot of people are going out to eat right? This is not the case with this Outback! This is the last time anyone in my family will go to this Outback. This makes the third time we tried to eat here (with making reservations in advance if they decided to take our reservation) and will be the very last! I joined the Yelp group for a dinner at Outback in Dalton Ga last week. Their team did an awesome job preparing us various entrees ,appetizers, deserts, & drinks. They paired each with drinks that complimented the plates. We sampled their signature Blooming Onion, Toowoomba Shrimp Topped Salmon, Baby Back Ribs, Steak, Aussie Cheese Fries, Double Chocolate Dessert Parfait, & Blue Cheese Pecan Chopped Salad, which was my favorite. All were succulent!!! The beer on the Sydney Boomerang Flight included Coopers Original Pale Ale, a local IPA, Samuel Adams Seasonal, and a Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar beer that was out of this world delicious!!! The staff were supper friendly and the service was amazing! Me and my family will definitely being joining them for dinner again very soon!!! We were traveling through Georgia and stopped for some take out in April. We ordered the Grilled Chicken on the Barbie and soup. We never got the mixed vegetables, I had to ask for silverware. The girl on the takeout menu desk gave us a fork and knife--no spoon for the soup!! The chicken was so dry, it looked like it was from another day, just warmed up. We stopped here on our way home to Chicago. My teenage children have very specific tastes. We often have to modify selections. My daughter ordered the prime rib sandwich minus the onions. One bite and we new there were onions on it by her facial expression and so did our server. She asked the manager to assist us. They made a fresh sandwich for her and it was very good. My picky eater ate it. They were very apologetic. The rest of our meals were also very good. Eating out with my picky eaters is always a challenge I'm glad they were very accommodating. Well what can I say you go to a nice restaurant expecting good service and food because it is not cheap and we ended up were seated right away but then the servers fought over who was going to have to come be out server 15 minutes after we were seated finally got someone to come over and get our drink order and asked if we had had time to look at the menu we ordered right away but it took another 20 minutes to get our food and then after we had obviously been done for a while another 10 min to get our check. I took my family to Outback on August 18th for my father's 71st birthday. We had a large party (8 including 3 children) and I expected to have a long wait. We got to the restaurant and checked in and we're told the wait was only 25 minutes. After watching several parties come in after us and get seated I stepped back to the hostess and inquired how much longer and was told we were next after another party. We had been waiting an hour and 15 minutes by now and there were no other parties waiting. I observed a large table being cleared off and thought we would be seated there. I was then approached by a gentleman that I had not seen before who asked to see me a moment. I stepped off to the side and the man explained that he had a small table that we could be seated at that they could possibly put another table with or we could wait for another table to be vacated and then cleared. I asked about the table I had watched being cleared and set up that was currently vacant. The man stated that he had a party of (10) coming in that wasn't there yet and that was where they were going to be seated. Needless to say I was not pleased to be told that a vacant table would be going to a party that was not even there yet especially after the wait we had already had. I told the man that he could take us off the list that we were leaving and that it was ridiculous. We left the restaurant and as we left we still did not see any other large party. We went next door to Cracker Barrel and were seated immediately. The food was excellent and the service was too. So if you are thinking of going to Outback Steak House in Dalton I would recommend anywhere else. Sad thing is we are all from Dalton. But rest assured no one from my family will step foot in this place again after this lack of service. read more

This was the first I have eaten outback. Our party of three all had the surf and turf which we all liked. My filet was ordered medium which is the way I received it, but it was a bit dry. The coconut shrimp was out of this world. The three of us split a blooming onion which was the best one i have eaten. I also had a top shelf patron margarita for about $8. The picture was $23-$24 which I will also get the next I go and have a driver. Service was over the top!! read more
