Good food. Australian themed restaurant. Dimly lit which is just the atmosphere I like. We love the bread here. The steaks are a hit or miss, sometimes it is horrible sometimes it is good. Lots of parking space. Nice "take away" curb for to go. You don't have to get off the car. Your order will be handed out to you. Waiters are very nice but the manager is so RUDE. Restaurant charged our bill incorrectly and when I complained he assumed it was costumer's error. We left very upset. What a let down. It's been a while since we've been to this location. We did the call ahead online and were seated upon arrival. I requested a table close by for my mom because she has problems walking, and they got us a table just a few steps away. Our waitress was all smiles and listened well. Used to love Outback--but we've changed our minds. Steak is way over salted/spiced! We went to this Outback today to give them a second chance but practically inedible. The shrimp was also over salted.The Outback at Potomac Mills was a real disappointment earlier--same reason. Won't be going back to this chain for a third chance. Well, this was the third time I ordered a prime rib from the Herndon restaurant to open the box and find a dry end piece. I ordered 16 oz Medium-rare and got a dry well done piece with a lot of fat. I have been ordering the Steak Salad from this Outback (delivery via Uber or DoorDash) for several months. The salad is usually excellent - lots of salad, all the ingredients are generous. I loved it! For the past 3 orders however, the quality/quantity has slipped. On one occasion, they have forgotten to add the blue cheese crumbles. On another they forgot the pecans. Then they mixed up the salad dressing. Plus, the quantity of lettuce and tomatoes has dropped. Where I used to get 2 full meals I now get about 1.5 meals. Very disappointing. I love Outback, I frequent there often. I have the Outback app downloaded on my phone and was emailed about a 15% off coupon and the criteria outlined in the app AND on the coupon itself said to show the coupon. Fast forward to my most recent experience. Food was delicious, atmosphere was lively, staff was friendly, and restaurant was clean. I whip out my phone to use my 15% coupon and was told that I could not use it because it wasn't printed. I've used coupons in this manner successfully with Outback previously, this was upsetting to me on principle simply because I did my homework the monetary value was minimal. read more

I usually enjoy dining at Outback, I LOVE the Ayer's Rock Strip with a side of cheese fries ! Today I decided to try their delivery. HUGE mistake! I ordered online on their website and it was easy. The scheduled delivery time was 4:30 PM. I was waiting and waiting and the delivery guy finally arrives at 5:00 PM. I open my food and everything I ordered was there so I started to eat. My cheese fries were awful! They were all clumped together and they were cold! My onion rings were cold but they were still tasty. My steak was wonderful as always, but that's about it. The shrimp I ordered in addition were also cold! I called after finishing my meal and spoke to a manager named Doug. He made excuses on why my food was late and he said that cheese fries "don't hold well" for deliveries! Why do they offer them then!! I spent $65 and everything besides the steak, was crap! I wanted to support one of my favorite restaurants during the pandemic by ordering takeout. This location had my order done in no time and brought it to my car within seconds of pulling into the designated space. So why only 3 stars? The recipes have changed. The seasoning on the steaks was barely there. The indescribable clam chowder that has kept me coming there for over 20 years is gone. It's now overloaded with unusual vegetables and the chowder is completely different. Not sure what they were going for, but I will wait until the pandemic is over before trying again. The food was great, but the wait times for all aspects of the visit were outrageous. Let's start with the 15 minute long wait to be seated-- this is normal for most restaurants. I will not comment on that. However, the wait time to actually get our appetizer (Crab stuffed mushrooms, they were decent) was around 20 minutes. My food was very good, I highly recommend trying the Royal Port Tilapia it is not very spicy but my fish was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the Victoria's Filet and he enjoyed most of it, but it had more fat than he was expecting for a steak. The wait time for our check was not acceptable. We waited over 20 minutes just to get our check, after giving it to our server. I do not necessarily blame my server for this, the whole place seemed chaotic with waiters and waitresses running around. read more

The service here varies. For the most part it is very good, but we've had a few nights where it has been slow. We come here regularly and would totally recommend the Aussie Rum punches and the $12 Wednesday meals! One time recently we decided not to go on a Wednesday, I think we went on the sunday and I got the Steak and Shrimp combo. Which was a little un-satisfying, having only had it a week before at the roadhouse, which was huge big bits of shrimp and a big lump of steak, it was disappointing to see Outbacks equivalent, especially at is was the same price. The Shrimp looked small and measly in comparison. Edible, just not as enjoyable. and the Steak was more grisley than usual. So not sure if we just came on a bad night or what. Because usually it is great value for money. But I am not sure I would go any other time other than Wednesdays now. So I am going to give it 4 stars as its not perfect, but it is most definitely our safe "go-to" restaurant for good service and nice atmosphere. read more

We actually had a very pleasant experience tonight. Service was outstanding, quick and efficient and overwhelmingly friendly. Food was good. We had onion petals and steak and unlimited shrimp deal. The fried shrimp was better than the shrimp scampi-ish thing. Steaks were cooked accurately. They were out of Fosters on tap (!), but waiter made a couple of other suggestions. Got together with some friends and our families. Seating wait time was about 4 minutes. The table we were seated at was just right. The waitress was attentive and helpful. They had a special that was reasonably priced and gave us more options. The Appetizers were excellent. I recommend the Blooming Onion was a big hit at our table. The food arrived shortly before we finished our appetizer. It was served hot and was very delicious. They cooked the "Victoria's Filet" just right for me. What strikes me about Outback is the insanely inexpensive pricing. We are tallking costs below Wendy's fast food prices, here. My friend and I ordered the rita trio at the bar while we waited for our to-go order. The rita trio is a sampling (4oz each) of three different skinny margaritas - pomegranate, mango and lime. They are delivered in a cute carrier and taste AMAZING and are always ice cold! The best part is the price! I mentioned to my friend that I remember that these drinks were inexpensive and she said yeah, she thought they cost approx $9. Nope...$6! That''s three small margaritas for the price of a beer. They also serve their top shelf margarita for $5.50 all day, every day. My entire order - rita trio, wedge salad, loaded baked potato and the loaf of bread they give every customer came to $14. My friend commented on the inexpensive cost of her meal too. You can order the Outback Special; a large steak and two sides for $9.99. She always orders two salads as the sides. The salads alone cost $4.50 each (if not inclulded in the special) so really, you are getting a free steak. And she mentioned that Wendy's salads cost $7.50, so if you compare this to Outback, it's such a steal! Plus the food is really good. And the salads usually come out on a chilled plate if you order in house. Outback offers an extensive gluten free menu. Curbside pickup is an added bonus. read more

I used to like this place. Tonight the service was actually good and food was okay too. So why one star? The hostesses spoiled the evening and otherwise a good experience. We felt being totally ignored by the hostesses the second we opened the door and when we were on our way out. Their gestures were totally wrong. They made us felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. While I understand they may be summer interns from local high school. I will start by saying that the quality of the food and overall service was very good - as we have come to expect as we frequent this Outback location very often. However, my concern was the sort of "bait and switch" or better said, unorthodox up charging policy this particular restaurant management apparently instructs it's waitstaff to employ. We eat our regularly on the weekends. We have started to frequent this restaurant due to their successful Wednesday Night promotions of good value / price meals. Last night, we ordered two items off of the Wednesday night menu (which is obviously also on the "regular" higher priced menu). When the check came we were being charged the regular higher price. When I questioned my server, he politely told me that the manager instructs them to always charge the higher price unless the customer specifically tells him that they are ordering off of the Wednesday special menu! Unbelievable! When I further pressed him, he said, "well, the restaurant makes more money and us more tips the higher the price / check". So folks, buyer beware! ALWAYS tell the staff at this location which menu you are ordering from - never mind that you would think they would give you that courtesy and conduct themselves in a good customer service way. read more

The waitress I had was pretty nice. I ordered a filet (rare) and shrimp. Now I almost always get my filets rare unless I'm in a not so mooing meat kind of mood. I love the moistness and the true red meat taste of a great filet. This steak probably stayed on the grill for about 15 seconds on each side. I don't usually send food back, but the texture and amount of times required to chew a single bite was not part of my plan for the evening. I sent it back. The waitress explained to me what rare was. Stating that rare is a cool red center. I nodded. I'm telling you ladies and gents, there was no cool red center...it was cool red everything. A manager brought my steak back out, cooked perfectly, with an extra side as a bonus. The shrimp was flavored well. Service was awful. Waited 10 mins at the bar to even be greeted, the manager walked by and NOTHING. Once I finally order, I confirmed what their "mid rare" is for burgers, since all places are now some how different. I ordered a burger that should have came with cheddar cheese, I got what looked and tasted like Kraft singles. This all put me really behind to get back to work and since the server never checked on me I had to eat a dry WELL done burger with crap cheese instead of a mid rare burger with cheddar. I just got back from this restaurant and felt compelled to write a review immediately. The food quality has taken a serious dive since I remember Outback (which wasbn't long ago) and I used to love Outback Steaks... Until now. Its not the same Outback that I remember so well. There were three in our party and we had three dishes. One Prime Rib/Lobster tail, one Sirloin/Ribs, one Filet/Shrimp. The Prime Rib came out great but the Sirloin and Filet were Terrible! They were both about 1cm thick. Centimeter not inch. It looked like they were pounded meat. I looked at it and immediately questioned it. The owner stopped by and explained to me that those cuts came from the worst part of the cow because we ordered the small portions (REALLY???). He told me they are using the steaks that they used to use in the salad dishes as a main course now. I then questioned the sirloin because that should have been the Outback Special Sirloin which has been on the menu as long as I remember. He then told me that the portion size is the reason why the steak looked so terrible. I've had this same steak before, it used to be good. The owners excuse didn't hold water. Unfortunately this Outback (and possilbly all of them) have become classic cases for Kitchen Nightmares. I'm guessing the bean counters at Outback have started designing the menu and ordered the food which has caused a serious quality control problem. I'm guessing most items from the old menu are still fine but we had a 50% success rate with the Outback Special Sirloin being terrible but the Prime Rib was good. (The filet was from the "new" menu). On a bright note, our hostess and waiter were very pleasant but lets face it, we go to restaurants for the food and this one is a big let down. I hope Outback will catch their mistakes before they go out of business but for now there are so many better options in the area. read more

Things I don't plan on doing again anytime soon... Going to the Outback in Herndon. Never have I felt like such a "burden" when eating out. God forbid you bring the entire order, or hell even make an attempt at being friendly. Instead we had to beg for bread and drinks and to order, manager asked if we needed anything and it never came, when the food arrived the only way we knew was because it was dayam near thrown onto our table without a word, my side never came out, and the server I think was high. read more

Wow. Use curbside pick-up when I am swamped with work; a couple of times per month. Last time, paid for delivery, and included a very nice tip. My prime rib, loster, salad and veggie? Perfect. My husband's porterhouse? He could only eat the filet section, the strip side was nothing but gristle!!! Totally unexpected. Was so disappointing. Yes it's a chain but we've never been disappointed. The location is small compared to other outbacks but it seemed clean and the people were friendly. We decided to head out on Australia day, so we able to get a dessert or appetizer for free. We forgot to print out the coupons, which I wish they would simply make virtual, however this location was great and lets you email them your coupon, which is incredibly kind of them. As always you start with their bread, which sadly was cold this time, although I can't say that it's my favorite starter bread. We decided to start with an appetizer, their new short rib nachos are awesome. I can never stop by without ordering a filet focaccia sandwich, which always ends up with the other half coming home with me, it reheats very well. My boyfriend ordered a classic filet (medium), which so far always comes out perfect, with green beans and a baked potato. Will definitely stop by again. read more
