I grabbed an early dinner at this Outback and was pleased. Service at the bar was fast and friendly. The free hot bread was delicious as always. I had a filet with fake with my choice of two sides. The steak was cooked perfectly. Veggies were a little mushy, but so it goes. The fries and steak had a great seasoning. It was free dessert day so I got to finish my meal with a sweet treat. If you like beer, don't miss the Outback Blond Ale - a inexpensive and refreshing accompaniment to your steak.

This is a typical Outback in that the food was consistently good and you almost always know what to expect. In this visit to Indy, I met Kellie the bartender that was my reason for a 2nd visit. It's always nice to find an engaging staffer and Kellie did not disappoint. She also directed me to the delicious strawberry salad. And best of all, the steak fillet meal shown cost me $82 CAD in Hamilton just 2 weeks ago. Yes, that's $70 USD for the same meal that cost me $30 in the good 'ol USA. Don't know what outback is pulling on the Canucks, but I won't ever eat at THAT location again. Kellie and her boss were astounded when I showed them a pic of the CAN menu and it's ridiculous pricing.

Celebrating 43rd anniversary but what could be better than outback. Good night I've had better service - very attentive, and personable without hovering. If you come here, ask for Cayla! Started with mushrooms. Boy, is this a large serving. Sorry, no picture just couldn't wait. I thought the wife would help but left on my own. Downsize the blooming chicken to lunch accordingly. If you'd like the onion, you would like the chicken. I added the loaded potato, which was perfection! Wife went with shrimp and fries really enjoyed the sauce. It was served with. She enjoyed the bread while I eat the mushrooms. All in all, a great meal!!!!

Regrettably I had to lower from a 5 star to a 4. They have changed since the last time I was here. They got rid of their 10oz filet, and the quality was not up to par with a good filet. They also apparently stopped seasoning their fries as well, very blah Next time I will have to get seasoning like the prime rib as it had a lot of seasoning and my now 8oz filet needed flavor and less fat. The bloomin onion was still good as well as the bread. Service was slower than normal due to being short staffed.

Outback is my favorite chain steakhouse. Their food is always top notch quality. Tip- ask for honey butter with your bread!! Bloomin Onions are better than any other competitor restaurants, especially with the homemade bloom sauce. They have the best ranch than any other restaurant. Steaks are always cooked perfectly, although I wish they would bring back the option for wood fire any steak! Drinks are always delicious. They have raised the prices quite a bit within the last few years. 6oz sirloins used to be $11 and now they're almost $15. Service is always pretty good, even with them being short staffed! I will admit I was a little frustrated with this particular visit. We received several $10 bonus cards over the holidays for buying gift cards there. The paper says only one per visit per table. We were sitting at the bar, and I asked before we ordered our meals that if my fiance and I got separate checks, we could use two. The bartender said yes. When the checks came, she had to leave and get the manager to take it off. The manager said absolutely not and would not honor our bonus. The bartender was very apologetic, but communication definitely needs to be improved.

From the historic, old-school steakhouse atmosphere to the service and perfectly cooked steaks, this was one of our favorite dinners of the trip. I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. We had a reservation and were seated immediately when we arrived, which made the whole experience start off seamlessly. We obviously had to start with the famous St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail, and it was easily the best shrimp cocktail I've ever had. The shrimp were huge and the cocktail sauce is unlike any other I've tried. Fair warning: the horseradish is NO JOKE. Take a small bite first because it will absolutely clear your sinuses! That intense kick is part of what makes it so memorable. We upgraded to the lobster bisque (+$9) and were really happy we did. It was creamy and rich with actual chunks of lobster throughout. It paired perfectly with their complimentary bread--and, of course, we added plenty of butter. We loved the bread basket in general, especially the "everything" style bread, which was our favorite. For our entrées, we both ordered the 8 oz filet mignon. Mine came with the green beans and my partner chose the fries. Both steaks were cooked perfectly, with a beautifully charred exterior while remaining tender inside. The seasoning was excellent too. Filet can sometimes sacrifice flavor for tenderness, but these had both. We also had wine with dinner. I ordered the ROW 503 Pinot Noir, which was about a 3/5 for me. It was good, but probably not something I'd order again. My partner had the ALH Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon, which was easily a 5/5. The Cabernet was excellent and paired beautifully with the filet. Between the two, we would definitely go with the Cabernet next time. We finished with the bourbon butter cake, which was probably the weakest part of the meal for us at around a 3/5. It was still good, but I wish the cake itself had been served warmer and had a little more buttery richness. A huge shoutout to our server, Jennifer, who was amazing! She was attentive throughout the entire meal, gave us great recommendations and made us feel genuinely taken care of. Even though our conversations with her were brief, she was incredibly personable and added a lot to the experience. Overall, St. Elmo manages to feel like a piece of Indianapolis history without relying solely on its reputation. The shrimp cocktail alone is worth experiencing at least once, but the perfectly cooked filets and wonderful service are what would bring us back. Definitely a must-visit when you're in Indianapolis. Make a reservation, come hungry, and prepare your sinuses for that shrimp cocktail.
