One of my overall favorite places in Joplin. They have been so consistent with their food and service for as long as I can remember! Obviously you can spend a decent amount of money, but you you get what you pay for! My favorite dish is the Ribeye (12oz) with a Sweet Potato! Absolutely amazing. If I am going for something a little more affordable and subtle, I usually go with a form of Ribeye Sandwich . I will usually sub a House Salad or French Onion Soup. Both the salad and soup are the best I've had around town, especially the soup!! In regards to drinks and appetizers, again they are at the top of my list! Their Bloomin Onion is awesome and their Margaritas and Beers are very refreshing! If I had one criticism, it would be the changes that they frequently make to their menu. Wow! What a great place. As soon as we came in we were greeted by the hostess and the GM. We were seated right away. Our appetizer came out so fast. Our drinks were refilled at a timely matter. I ordered the steak and shrimp and the shrimp was severely overcooked. My steak was dry and charred on the top. My wife ordered the steak and hers was extremely dry. Ok, I normally don't review chains. This Outback Steakhouse has caused me to break that cycle....briefly. Aside from the usual door greeter, which I think I've become numb with, the actual service barside is where the action is. I had the pleasure of meeting two bartenders who really seemed to enjoy their work. They even put a name tag in front of me on the bar, so the wouldn't forget my name. Seems silly, although a nice touch. I ordered the Clam Chowder (made in house), a Kansas City Strip (medium) with green beans. When the 'chowda' arrived I was just about to get into it when the steak arrived. Figured the cooks were being efficient and was making space when the manager came over and told the server to take the steak back so I could enjoy my soup. Sort of felt bad, though I did appreciate the gesture. They made a new steak for me and it was very good, I've never had a Kansas City Strip and will add this to my steak rotation. The green beans were crisp, just the way I like them. I'll be here on business over the next few weeks and definitely plan on coming back. The one drawback with this place, it really applies to all restaurants in the Missouri, is that they allow smoking inside. No matter where you are, the smoke wil waft over. If you don't like a peppery flavor on basically, everything, Outback Steakhouse is not for you. I'm in no hurry to rush back. We were celebrating a bit as a family and chose the nicest place we saw, Outback. Steak sounded great and ours were all cooked to our specifications. I am not the only one that thought the pepper was too much though. It didn't keep any of us from eating our steak, but we did have a few scraps for our dogs. The blue cheese chopped salad was SO good. The spinach dip, delish. Our cheesecake, yuuummm... and the service was next to impeccable. I have been to other Outbacks across the country, but it has been several years. I don't remember the heavy pepper from other locations. We went at 11:45 am on a Tuesday to this facility in Joplin.. the restaurant looks dated with water spots on the ceilings and very smelly bathrooms.. so, don't sit close to the bathrooms because you can smell them when people go in and out.. not a great eating experience. We started with an appetizer, the steak cheese dip, and it didn't look anything like the picture... we had no red peppers or onions or parsley on ours but it tasted okay, but greasy.. the Alice's chicken was great as usual as were the salads. The dessert was the fondu dips... You need plates, and utensils with it and it was messy to eat but tasty. Probably needed to have toothpicks served with it . We liked our server but did have to look for him to get the dessert and check ... This is easy access off of the interstate so that's a plus at rush hour. read more

Dissapointed in the Outback My wife and I stopped for dinner. I ordered Rack of Lamb and my wife ordered Steak Salad. Delightful waitress.. Wife and I both stressed sensitivity to spice or pepper. Rack of Lamb was to go light on salt and no spice. Steak Salad was ordered with no seasoning and no onions. Rack of Lamb had sides of asparagus and dinner salad with Ranch dressing. My salad arrived with dressing very spicy. Wife's salad arrived loaded with onions. Sauce served with rack of lamb was also loaded with spice. I questioned our waitress regarding the spices and onions and was informed that the ranch dressing is made to be spicy as is the sauce for the rack of lamb? The onions were a mistake and she offered to have the salad re-made. By this time my wife removed all the onions by hand. The rack of lamb was good but pricy for the portion size. The salad was good sans onions. We ordered dessert and when it was brought, the dirty dishes were left on the table with the dessert. Staff could use additional training. Disappointed. We were on the road today, stopped in Joplin for the night, and decided on Outback for dinner. Called ahead for seating. Probably didn't need to - but when we arrived at the hostess desk, neither of the two people there even looked up to acknowledge us for several minutes. Not a good start -- BUT then we were seated and got a great server named Tianna! She wanted to make sure she got our drink orders just right. She went to the bartender and got back to us with questions. Drinks came and were just right! Then our food order came - but only one of two plates. The kitchen had screwed up, but they made it right on the bill. Kudos to TIANNA - we learned later it was her first day here (but not inexperienced). Tianna is very good, cares, and wants to get things right. We wish this Outback the best in keeping their business in the face of an unprecedented pandemic! read more

It's a hit and miss at outback. The food is good that's the only reason we keep going back. No matter the wait. The kiwi Rita is the most amazing and sweet margarita I've ever had. As the food is good. The staff isn't always the best. Our trip last weekend it was almost as if we didn't matter to our waiter at all. Sat there for about 30-40 min before we got the bread. Within 2 minutes after that we got our soup and salad all at the same time. It was just a cluster at the table. But. Like I said. What happened?!?!? we had a 10 year old with us, they don't wait for food well. We saw next our table two finished their meal, three tables reseated, ordered, got their meals as out table of 5 continued to wait for our meal! They said because takes longer to cook for 5 (they served 6 before us!) The waiter serving the food and bringing us the bill looked drugged. The food and service were both excellent, even when I found a hair in the middle of my burger, but the waiter and manager were both super nice, and even paid for our entire meal. I rarely write a review, because everyone has bad days, but trust me, don't waste your money here. Yes, they serve food, and it is edible, but so is a box of crackers. I had the Grass Fed Beef Burger- I am looked and tasted like it came from a bulk box of commissary burgers from the adjacent Sam's Club. The bun itself was stale, but really it was the 1/4 inch thick fried patty that ruined my lunch. In the end, I found myself amazed at my $19 bill and really wishing I had gone elsewhere for lunch. Outback Steakhouse was always one of my "Go to" places for a tasty steak and fun dining experience. However they have really gone downhill over the last few years. Decades ago, my favorite Outback sirloin was reliably second to none. Over the years this menu item has really gotten hit and miss. Lately however it seems all they can grill up is fillet of boot sole. We were on a short getaway trip staying at a nearby hotel and decided steak sounded good for dinner. When we arrived they took our phone number to text is when our table was ready. We literally stepped right outside the front door and got the text that our table was ready. We thought the whole process at that time was a little ridiculous as there were many open tables and almost no one waiting. We ordered a sirloin, well done and steak medallions medium. Apparently someone got the order backwards because the sirloin came out quite medium and the medallions were very well done. There potatoes were good although mine was ordered as loaded and came out with only butter. They server did bring a cup of toppings. My husband was somewhat disappointed that corn or green beans were not a vegetable choice. He's not a fan of broccoli or squash. When asked how our food was, we showed our steaks to the server and she agreed they were not cooked correctly and offered to bring us new steaks. We were hungry and did not want to wait so we just switched meat courses. There manager came out shortly after and made the same offer. We were still ok with switching meat courses. We don't like to be the "difficult customers". She was very gracious and discounted our meal as well as giving us a gift card for a return trip to any Outback. The staff was wonderful throughout it all and we will give it another try at an Outback in our hometown. read more

Had a great meal here tonight, we were astounded at how good the service was by our waiter & how promptly all meals came out! We ordered the Wednesday special which was a bargain for two coming in at $42 for a starter of cheese fries, 2 ceasar salads, side of broccoli, side of garlic mash, prime rib, 6oz sirloin and a chocolate thunder along with a lemonade! We have been to several Outback restaurants over the years but this one is superior in many ways to the rest. First and foremost, Cidel is a fantastic waitress...always checking in to ensure you have what you need, ensuring your order is delivered as your asked, etc. she could be a great waitress in any 5 star establishment. Equally impressive is Brett...we had no idea he was the proprietor when he made our martinis and checked on us often as Cindel did. By the way, he makes a KILLER dirty martini...not many restaurants have the ability to do it right, Brett has it down to a science. One last thing...my ribeye was he most flavorful I've had in all the Outbacks I've dined with in the past. Brett obviously knows the value of having a dedicated and well trained staff. Great layout and spacious bar. Enjoyed an Iced Tea, tortilla soup, and steak salad while watching the football game on their big screen TV. We recently went here for Father's Day. We laid down 60 bucks for 3 people which isn't all that bad for a steakhouse, but only one of us got a steak. I love the bread and the atmosphere here. If you like the Outback chain, give this one a shot. read more
