Tonight I had the absolute displeasure of trying Outback. We arrived around 7:20pm to a restaurant that was far from busy--yet somehow still a mess. The hostess stand was empty, and all the hostesses were sitting in a booth in the back right corner. Weird choice considering the front of the house looked like a disaster. Trash on the floor, dirty surfaces... and of course the first thing I thought was, "If this is what the front looks like, I don't even want to imagine the kitchen." We were seated and greeted by our server. Drinks came out fine, and we ordered our food shortly after. While we waited--easily 10-15 minutes--the table behind us placed their order. Around the same time, another table was seated. By the time we'd been waiting close to 30 minutes with no food, both of those tables (who ordered well after we did) had already gotten theirs. Our food didn't show up for almost 50 minutes. And when it finally did, my "medium" filet somehow ranged from nearly raw on one side to well-done on the other. Impressive in the worst way possible. At that point, I was ready to leave. I went up front and asked for a manager. After waiting nearly 10 minutes, a guy walks up and just... stands there. No "Hello," no "I'm the manager," no "How can I help?" Just awkward silence. I finally had to ask if he was the manager--he said yes. I explained the situation, and his response was, "Well, there's nothing else we can do for you here." Fantastic hospitality, right? He didn't offer to remake the food. Didn't apologize. Didn't attempt to fix anything. Couldn't even explain the ridiculous wait time. Our server actually stepped up more than he did--she admitted the kitchen was messing up orders and confirmed we had waited a very long time. If that guy was the GM, God help that location. If he wasn't, he absolutely shouldn't be left in charge of speaking to guests. I haven't been to Outback in years, and after tonight, they've solidified exactly why. I won't be trying it again anytime soon. read more

Quick take: service was ok, food was ok, atmosphere was nice. It had been a while since I had been and I was looking forward to it. I like Longhorn and Texas Roadhouse better. Would eat here again but for the price will probably be few and far. Host was very friendly! Longer take: Ordered the Alice Springs chicken and they forgot the mushrooms and sauce. Instead of reconstructing and melting cheese over all of it they brought me a cup of mushrooms and a cup of sauce. That's fine but did I miss out on the proper construction? I just dumped on top. It was a god flavor mix but mushrooms and sauce took from the warmth. Steak didn't taste freshest. I think it had no seasoning at all. It was straight sirloin and I could really taste the freshness, or lack there of. Beer was good, mixed drink was good, coconut shrimp was good. read more

A group of ten co-workers came here for lunch to celebrate Administrator's Day. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained as we walked in. They had already had the tables setup and ready so we were seated immediately. The waitress was there to get our drinks as soon as we sat down and asked about getting appetizers. We ordered a couple bloomin onions and an order of the bloomin fried shrimp. The waitress returned with our drinks and then took our food orders. The appetizers were delicious. All of the food came in out in a timely manner and was hot and fresh. Everyone was happy with their meals. I'd definitely come back again with a smaller group or a group like we had! read more

Outback used to be one of our go to restaurants for a special meal...no longer. Somewhere in 2025 their food quality as well as portions reduced in flavor as well as value. Alice Springs chicken was 1/2 the portion size, overseasoned and over cooked. The portion was so small the meal was served on an appetizer plate. The onion blossom was overcooked and extremely greasy. My husband's a-ha tuna was unexplainable as to what the flavor was ...that item should come off the menu. Also at 5:00 PM we saw one sever trying to cover the bar area as well as 10 tables- he tried his best to get customers covered. Where were the other servers (12/22:25) ? If this is corporate decision in these changes they need to know consumers are aware of changes for the negative. read more

Review: - Service was an absolute miss with an employee coming out 3 times to get my name for the order I placed online. - Food was overcooked and cold by the time I finally got it 20 minutes after the order was supposed to be ready. = Manager refunded the meal but also tried to make excuses for an employee who never should have been serving customers without his trainer. A failure to take ownership of the problem fully explains why this was allowed to happen in the first place. = Parking lot as poorly designed and difficult to leave. Score: With poor service, bad leadership, and low food quality, I have no choice but to leave them a 1/5 and it will be an exceptionally long time before they get a chance to earn a higher score. read more

Absolutely terrible. My wife calls in a to go order at 6:40 this evening. I arrive at 7:08 for an order that consists of a French onion soup, sweet potato and two loaves of bread. That's it. I go inside to let them know I'm there to pick up an order my wife placed. Someone comes out for the name. I gave them mine but it was under my wife's name. After checking. Two or three times they somehow show the order on one system but not another. They can't tell what the order is for on the one system it shows up on. I tell them the order and my wife also calls with it again. After a few more times of back and forth I get the order at 7:50. For something that takes less than 10mins to get if I ordered them as appetizers in the restaurant. As much as I wanted to flip out, I was calm and understanding. I normally would have left if it was for me but it was for my mother in law that just had her tooth pulled and is taking care of her mother that's on hospice care in her house about to pass anyway now. Oh, they also left out the additional loaf of bread we requested. Would not recommend to anyone unless you like to have your patience tested. read more

Went there for dinner and service was horrible. Hostess kept sitting people in the same area and the poor waitress could not keep up. Took forever to even get a drink order in. I have a severe nut allergy and when my salad came out, it was horrible, soggy like it was sitting in dressing definitely not made fresh and was cross contaminated with nuts. Had an allergic reaction and when I spoke to the manager he pretty much said that the kitchen is a mess and the way they do things, stuff can get grabbed or thrown in "by accident". I came to this Outback Steakhouse with a few clients at their recommendation and I believe that they recommended this Outback Steakhouse because it was down the street from their office. This Outback Steakhouse is a newer location and we were here for lunch on a Wednesday early afternoon. The restaurant was not very crowded and our server was very pleasant. Since I am trying to be a bit more healthy and drop a few pounds, I went with their grilled chicken lunch special (I believe they called it "chicken on the barbie" or something along those lines). For my side, I went with a salad. While the chicken portion was a bit small, it was a decent lunch. Three of us had the chicken and the other had the sirloin steak. As I said, I had the salad for my side and everyone else had the baked sweet potato. Everyone seemed to enjoy their lunch and I would definitely recommend here. read more

This new Outback is their new small footprint restaurant. I like the big windows that provide an open, brighter atmosphere, but I don't like the small waiting area and smaller square footage. I recommend they drop the call ahead seating. To their credit, they say it is not a reservation but places you in the queue to be seated before walk-ins. I'm not sure about that and at a minimum it is confusing. The food was ok, I had the shrimp and chicken pasta. The shrimp was good, but the chicken was very bland. So excited to finally have another Outback Steakhouse in Madison! This one is brand new and opened on December 6, 2021. It's conveniently located in the Town Madison development on the corner of Zierdt Rd and Stadium Way. There's a large surface parking lot out front and to the side. Definitely try their signature appetizer the Bloomin' Onion. It's a fried onion served with their signature bloom sauce. It's awesome! I highly recommend the Alice Springs Chicken which has cheese, bacon, mushrooms served with honey mustard. The steaks are also very good as well. For dessert the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under is a must have. You will not be disappointed! You should sign up for their Dine Rewards programs to earn discounts and free food. It's super easy to use and is linked to your phone number and email. It can be used at any of the Bloomin Brands restaurants to include Carrabba's, Bonefish Grill, and Fleming's. read more

Just had a meal here with 15 friends, and when I tell you, it was a great time, it was awesome! Like a lot of area restaurants, the staff can sometimes be short here. After we left Toyota field, because of that facility issue they were reporting, we came here to eat. This was our second time here, the first being early in their existence of being a place at Town Madison to eat. This experience disappointed slightly. There were tables open, but apparently not enough wait staff, since they made us wait. As I mentioned, this is not uncommon in today's environment, but when the hostess called us for a table after a 30 minute wait, she seemed confused and turned us around. We sat down in the waiting area once again for another ten minutes. The meal was pretty good, but the lead-in with the wait and the fumble by the hostess almost ruined it for us in total. read more

For our division's holiday party, I suggested this location because of the exceptional service and food that we received at a previous retirement luncheon for my friend back in February. Again, the service and food were top notch and I would like to specifically thank our servers, Jay, Lily, and Pooh who were very accommodating, attentive, and friendly. They handled our large party with the utmost professionalism and made sure to constantly check on us and handled everything with care and a smile. I hope that our tips reflected the awesome service we received. Our holiday party committee were very happy with the service that we received and the quality and speed of the food orders. As with the retirement luncheon, the staff allowed us to come in a little early to set up and decorate the area. There was a slight mix-up with some customers sitting in our reserved area, but that situation was quickly rectified. I highly recommend this location for anyone needing to accommodate a large party. Received a text saying out table was ready. The party of 8 that was behind us was complaining and making a big fuss about the wait time. The manager decided to put sit prior us. Then we had to wait another 15 minutes prior to being seated. I believe they seated them first because it was all adults and when had 2 kids in our party of 6. Let's talk about the food. I order the Filet Mignon medium well. The steak that was served was about a medium when first cut. After 3rd cut is was more of a rare. Sent it back and received another rare steak. I ordered a grey goose dirty martini, the bar tender admitted it was her first bar job, but that martini was on point. I had 2 of them! My friend said her drinks were legit as well. My husband and I went to the Outback by Toyota Field for dinner and boy, were we impressed! First of all, we were seated quickly in the booth we requested in the bar area. How lucky was that? Then, we had the BEST server, I think her name was Mac or Mel or something similar. She was attentive without being overbearing. I noticed she would glance at our table when walking by, just checking to see if we needed anything without disturbing us. Really, she was a true professional and made our visit a pleasure. Lastly, dinner was cooked perfectly! My husband got the steak and shrimp combo and I had the salmon. Awful awful experience. The only nice thing was the hostess. It was my husband's birthday and he just wanted an easy place after work to go eat. First, the waitress didn't know anything about availability of beers or wine, including giving my mom grief over the wine she was trying to order. Acted like they didn't have it and they ended up having it. Then my dad ordered a Manhattan (very audibly) and she had to go to the bar and find out what kind of liquor they had. When she came back she offered him a shot plus one for a special deal. He said no to just bring a Manhattan. She almost walked away without taking my husband's drink order. (Side note, when we told her it was his birthday, she acted as if we were weird for telling her). Then she brought my dad one shot of bourbon in a glass. When he said he ordered a Manhattan, she acted as if he were crazy and not nicely asked if he wanted her to take it back. When she brought out the salads, she handed me a salad I did not order. So she took it back and said she would get me my salad. A good while later she came to the table and we had to remind her about my salad. She realized she forgot, went to the back, and brought out the worst salad ever. She told me she was busy "talking to her team" and that's why she forgot my salad. I ordered a filet mignon medium rare. It looked like they butterflied it so I knew it was overcooked. It was closer to medium well. My 2 yr. old daughter's sirloin was actually good. My husband, again, the birthday boy, his steak was also over cooked. We couldn't find her to complain and, based on her reaction to everything, we gave up hope. Additionally, certain things were missing like condiments etc. that we had requested. No acknowledgment of my husband's birthday (not the end of the world, but having made it a point to tell her...). She was just overall disinterested in her job and made it not an enjoyable experience in the least. Absolutely awful! I hadn't been to an Outback in at least 5 years because the quality had gone downhill so much but while here in Huntsville on business my boss wanted to go an Outback for dinner. When we got there and I saw that it was a brand new location, I had hopes that maybe they had improved. I was so wrong. I ordered the Buttered Espresso steak with a loaded baked potato. When they brought it out, I took a bite of the potato first and it was more raw than cooked. I asked the server for a replacement. After she brought me a fresh one, I decided to try the steak first. I'm not exaggerating when I say it tasted like someone had dumped an entire box of salt on it. I actually like my food a little salty but this was completely inedible. I flagged her down again, told her what was wrong and asked for a different steak, this time just a plain sirloin. She took my plate away and about 20 minutes later brought me the replacement steak. Again tried the baked potato first and not only had they not given me a fresh one, but hadn't even bothered reheating the one I had. It had sat there and gone cold while they were cooking the steak. Whatever, I could live without it and didn't eat it. Tried out the new steak, it was as bad or worse than the first one. This time there was too much salt AND pepper. Plus, I had requested medium but this thing was maybe 5 degrees above being completely raw and it had so much fat and gristle that it was barely fit to eat. I went ahead and ate it anyway since if I were to send it back again they would probably spit on my food back in the kitchen. The server asked me how this one was and I was honest with her. To be fair, they did take the steak off my bill (I still paid for the two draught beers I had and for the side that I didn't eat, which was fine as I truly wasn't angling to get anything for free, just wanted a decent steak). Usually in any decent restaurant if there is a problem the manager will come by to at least speak to you. Never saw anyone besides my server who was actually very sweet and polite. As far as the food goes, though, the only decent part of the entire meal was the pumpernickel bread they bring out to you. read more
