I've been a consistent customer of this Outback location for YEARS. I've never made a review in my life. Then, one day, I heard this sweet and uplifting voice that caught my attention. He was not my waiter, but he made smile ear to ear watching him interact with customers. One day, I finally got the privilege of having him deliver our food. He was not assigned to us as our server/waiter, but here he was, happily handing us our dinner. I want this establishment to know what an asset Dominic is. His personality, smile, thoughtfulness, and exuberance makes every customer that he encounters feel special. Dominic, you ARE the light of this establishment. Well, lots has changed since my last review...but nothing that takes away from the awesome experience of dining at the Outback. Their happy hour pricing has changed, the proprietor has changed, and the service staff has changed. I guess a lot changes in 8 years (since my last review). However, a few things remained the same and were still amazing. Coco and Tony are still there holding down the fort. They have wonderful personalities and make the dining experience so much fun. Ask for them! The flair of the uniforms is gone, but some of the employees are allowed to wear the really cool pins that they earn from tenure, the president of the company, or Outbacker of the Year. So the pins on their shirts actually mean something now! The food is still great. I am in love with the Strip (still), and love their wedge salad and bleu cheesed chop salad. Um, cinnamon pecans in my salad, YES PLEASE!!! And the management has changed. Ask for David, the manager, and you'll find he's as warm and hospitable as Hollywood. Flawless reopening! The place was absolutely spotlessly clean, floors, baseboards, tables lamps. Everyone from hostesses, waitresses and manager wore cloth masks and made every attempt to social distance except when they needed to be close- like bringing food or wine. Service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Probably the best Ive ever had here. Maybe the silver lining is restaurants get to really evaluate their restaurant processes. I was super impressed and felt 100% safe and comfortable having dinner out. Great job outback! read more

With very few restaurants in this area, Outback is probably the only choice in north east Mesa..well unless you plan on traveling further east towards La Sendas. I have visited this location 4-5 times and every time I am not impressed. Maybe because I am not a big meat eater. On the other hand, my hubby loves their steak and stuffed potatoes. He also loves the blooming onion. Unfortunately, I do not see nor taste on why these dishes are his favorite. I ordered 2 Steak Meals, 1 Steak and Grilled Chicken meal and 1 Appetizer for Christmas Eve. I arrived on time to pick it up. I had our guests expecting Dinner to be Served at 3:30 so I needed to get home and didn't check them before taking them and leaving. I placed an order for pick up as I was coming from Arizona City and then heading to Gold Canyon. I had no time for cooking, unfortunately for all of us. None of the steaks were prepared as asked. I wanted a medium well 5 ounce sirloin, a medium well 13 ounce ribeye and a medium rare 13 ounce ribeye. What I got was a charcol bricket for the sirloin (and the Chicken was really dry) as well as one on the ribeyes. The medium rare ribeye was medium well. The appetizer was 8 Coconut Shrimp which were also extremely overcooked and show in the menu a larger. The baked potatoes were also all overcooked. The house Salads were great, but that was it. I paid $122 for all of this and most of it was inedible. The best part is that they ask for a tip. I ordered it online, paid for it online and came to pick it up, however, I did give a tip only to get home and realize my Christmas Dinner was garbage. The worst of it was the parking lot was empty. They weren't slammed. I placed my order at 1:45pm for a 3:00pm pick up. What happened, did someone cook it all to early and then try and heat it up again before I got there to pick it up, or did they just not pay attention and overcooked everything. Either way it was very disappointing in every way. I also hadn't eaten anything yet and was so looking forward to an enjoyable Christmas Steak. read more

Enjoyed an early dinner with Chelsea as our server! She promptly took our order and brought our salads and bread to the table! Only problem, my salad had a thin block of ice on the bottom of the salad bowl! I pointed this out to the owner/manager and he offered to remove a charge for the salad! I don't understand how a stake house.... Doesn't know how to cook a steak. It's consistently bad, order after order. With inflation where it's at... and the location already struggling... you'd think they'd sharpen up but unfortunately that is not the case. It's a shame. Let me just start this review by saying I would never call myself a "chain restaurant" type of guy. I typically view chain restaurants to have poor quality food which lack overall flavor so I tend to visit chain restaurants very very rarely. My wife and I happened to have a gift card so we figured we would take advantage of it. The service was a little slow in the beginning but the problem here definitely is not the service....it's the food. This is the exact reason why I try to stay away from chain restaurants because I feel like they lack creativity and flavor in their dishes. Major complaints are as followed: Chicken wings....abysmal. Not crispy at all and weren't even tossed in a buffalo sauce? Volcano shrimp appetizer was lacking in flavor in my opinion even though my wife enjoyed this. Grass fed burger: For all I know the meat wasn't even grass fed. I asked for it to be medium it was basically well done. Overall not a horrible burger, but nothing good to really say about it. The food needs to change. Despite being a chain restaurant, the prices aren't that cheap either. Burger was $13 and the wings were $11. I can think of dozens of other places where I can get cheaper wings and burgers with much better quality. read more

Everything we ate was gross! My husband and I got a gift card here and was both our first time at Outback. We ordered what the server recommended so I got the Alfredo pasta that comes with shrimp and grilled chicken and my husband got Alfredo pasta, which came with shrimp and steak. The bread they brought out tasted like cardboard and everything made us lose our appetite. Literally took one bite of everything and it was all gross. We ordered the cheaper items on the menu and our bill was $75 for a dinner that was all disgusting. It was so disappointing. Honestly I really liked our server but after we both tried our food we just told the server that we had to leave, so we paid the bill and left. Food is always 5 stars here. Service can vary. Last two times had a nice but spacy server who seemed stoned the whole time. Let plates pile up, had to go find other servers for refills, forgot soups and salads, etc. Probably due to difficulties finding good help but this guy has to be affecting business. This Outback has been very consistent for us lately. We've had really great service from Tony B the last few times we've been in (we specifically ask for his section). He's really kind, funny, and patient with us - especially since we have a small baby. I appreciate his menu knowledge and how he's able to help me put together the perfect meal each time we come in. This past visit we had the pleasure of meeting Calli, one of the managers. She was so professional, and really made us feel welcomed. I feel she naturally understands how customer service is supposed to work and we're really glad she's working at this Outback. Which is now our favorite location!!! My favorite things to get are the Coconut Shrimp, the Victoria's Filet, and I love their salads with either ranch or honey mustard. But my ALL-TIME favorite are the Kookaburra Wings! No one does wings like Outback. Tony helped me figure out I like the "Hot Wings with ranch, no blue cheese, and all flats, no drumsticks." Yumm...so good! Thanks Outback! Called in a to-go order and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. Went in earlier than 30 min. and the order was ready for pick up. When I opened the order at home, not only was one of the orders incorrect (ordered asparagus and received beans instead), the orders looked microwaved to death. Look at the curdled cheese on what's supposed to be a "premium" side that I was charged extra for. How about the beans that are shriveled? This meal was disgusting and I don't have time to return and have them correct it. I don't recommend Outback to-go. read more

I always have a decent meal and experience when I come to this Outback location. I either do dine in or pick up. I will be honest some of my past servers need to learn how to communicate better with people but I am more there for the food. The grilled shrimp is so good. You can get it as an appetizer or get a smaller portion with your steak. I still call it the outback special but the sirloin is very good. I sometime order that or the Salmon. Yes I order fish at a steak restaurant. Their Salmon is very good and every time I have ordered it, it has been cooked correctly. Outback is a nice family restaurant where everyone is welcomed. You can have large groups or just 2 people. It's nice to order a nice meal and not be breaking the bank. The take out service is very good. The food still tastes the same. Coconut shrimp- I'm a huge fan of this and have had it many times. I've never been to this location but this was the worst I've ever had! The shrimp itself was good but the batter was disgusting. It was raw and so thick. When I tried dipping it it fell off. The service was fair. I will not return to this location and it's a shame because it's close to home. Sat at the table for quite awhile while staff walked by many times without saying a word. Our server, Jim, had no personality, he definitely is in the wrong field. The food was mediocre. The ribeye sandwich was tasteless and it was all bun. The beer cheese fondue was not hot and the pretzels were salt less. Blooming onion burger was best tasting item in our party. We went to The Outback looking for a greatvsteak dinner. I ordered the 11 oz top sirlion and bbq'd shrimp with a side salad and a sweet poatoe. The side salad was fresh and crisp and delicious. The sweet potato was excellent. The steak was cook medium rare as ordered; but, it had no seasoning on it, therefore very bland and it was not tender at all. We have better steaks at home. I had a steak at Applebees that was far, far supior to this one and it was $8 cheaper. read more

Been a long time since I've been to an Outback. Most likely will be a long time again. Overall food was meh. Couple of odd things. First, they don't bring you any silverware until they bring your food. Not sure what that's all about. Second, not sure who designed the menu, but they should be kicked in the junk. Poor layout and descriptions of what was what. I somehow recall the menu being two pages in the past. Now it's like 6 pages plus some sort seasonal menu the was 4 pages. 2.5 is not a choice so they get a 2 for the silverware and menu. read more

The service was fine. However, we used to love Outback for lunch, but no more. First our blooming onion was uncooked in areas, horrible. Then my wife got the Prime Rib Sandwich. It said "lunch portions" which in this case it was not even half a sandwich, maybe a fourth. The sandwich was 2" long with one piece of meat. And she said it didn't even taste very good. The last thing is the lunch menu is half the size that it used to be. They used to have a number of really good sandwiches to choose from, no longer. Outback has really gone downhill.
