This was only my second visit to this restaurant and my husband and I would not have returned after the first but we had a gift card with a big balance on it. The last first was last summer and this was not that much better. After the last time, we learned our lesson about NOT ordering an appetizer. They aren't a good enough quality to warrant the price. We did get salads and they were delivered on plates that had been in the freezer---I didn't care for that. Another thing I didn't like was the hard, yellow, iceberg lettuce and it had a huge amount of dressing on it. Our entrées were the Shrimp with French Fries for my husband and I had the Grassfeed Hamburger with French Fries. My husband said that shrimp was excellent and it did look good. My hamburger was extremely small for the price and very greasy, not juicy. So greasy that the tomato slid off. Also it wasn't hot I wasn't impressed. When we were there this last summer the ladies room was a mess; this time it was literally a pig sty. I could easily say it had not been cleaned in days. There was an employee who was washing her hands in there and she went out and did nothing about it. I have seen overused Porta-potties at fairgrounds that were cleaner. Go elsewhere. read more

When we entered at about 12:45pm, there were two other parties of two in front of us and no hostess in site. When the hostess did return to the desk after a few minutes, a waitress just starting her shift walked up and they proceeded to discuss assignments for the day before even acknowledging any of us. My mother asked the waitress what came with the prime rib dip sandwich. She said she was not sure, and though it came with two sides. I told her that it came with fries. We ordered two cups of soup to start, and a prime rib dip sandwich to share. After about 10 minutes and no sign of the waitress, I asked the hostess to please ask our waitress to serve the soup first. Another 10 minutes later, she brought the soup. It was luke warm, not hot. Then another 20 minutes later, she brought the sandwich. She did not bring or offer another plate for us to share. She just set it in the middle of the table. Most of the prime rib in the sandwich was tough - big pieces of gristle. We showed the waitress. She apologized, but that was it. She was very nice, but just didn't know how to provide good service. My wife and I went to outback tonight for dinner. We ordered a blooming onion as an appetizer, and I requested we wait to order dinner so we may enjoy the onion. Our waiter came back 8-10 minutes. later and took our order. ( I assumed our blooming onion was on its way out). We both ordered full racks of baby back ribs, a salad as my side and mashed potatoes as hers. The blooming onion was delivered about 3 minutes later. As I am reaching for a portion of the onion, here comes the manager with my side salad. I asked if we were going to get a chance to eat our appetizer before the ribs were brought out, since its fried and not worth a darn once cold. The manager said he would tell the kitchen to "hold" the ribs for awhile.....really! Why call it an appetizer if you are going to serve it as a side with the meal. This has happened the last couple of times we went here, which is why I asked to wait to order dinner until our appetizer arrived. My biggest beef though is when I order a full rack of ribs, I expect all 13 rib bones. Sometimes the small end bone will fall off, and you get 12 rib bones. "NOT 9 BIB BONES" We were shorted 3-4 rib bones. These were probably sold as appetizer's for an extra profit. I have purchased, grilled/ b-b-I'd, and eaten enough full racks of pork ribs to know that there are 13 ribs in a rack. Google it if you disagree. ( Applebee's only steals 2 rib bones off a full rack). Our waiter was good and overall service was good, I just don't like getting cheated. read more

The steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus were very tasty. So the following negative comment is because I was annoyed about 3 things. 1) There was a special menu that included a soup, a salad, a steak and a small dessert for a fixed price. My wife ordered it but asked if she could substitute a different mini-dessert for the cheesecake that was listed with this 4-course fixed price option. The waitress and the manager both refused this reasonable request because it was against store policy. The request was denied even though the manager said the cost for the preferred mini-dessert was the same as for the unwanted mini-cheesecake. It seems to me that if a restaurant could provide a customer with an item she wants in lieu of what she doesn't want at no additional cost to the restaurant it would be in its own interest to satisfy its customer. I don't understand why it chose not to. 2) The restaurant does not stock its tables with sugar or artificial sweeteners. And when unsweetened tea was ordered and delivered the sweeteners were not supplied. I had to make a special request to get some. 3) We had a discount offer emailed to us by the restaurant: some kind of promotion evidently. We showed it to the waitress when she first came to the table, as the offer directed. She acknowledged it. But when the bill arrived the discount had not been applied; I had to send the bill back for reprocessing. The food was good but the experience was not. read more

My wife and I are staying in Saginaw for the weekend and chose to come to the Outback as it was close to the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised. Our waiter Ryan was amazing. Very attentive, brought our pop refills before we were finished. I had the steak with unlimited shrimp and a great Caesar salad. My wife had the salad and porterhouse steak. She really enjoyed it as well. The best thing about being here was our amazing waiter. Very friendly, was right there ordering me unlimited shrimp which came right away. Hello, had dinner at Outback Saginaw today at 4 pm and have to tell you ALL how great the food and service was. I had the Coconut Shrimp for my app and he had the petals for his. We got them very fast and they where very good hot golden brown. For our meal he had Steak and Lobster, it was fresh and his steak cooked perfectly rare. I choose another app for my main meal the 4 piece QUESADILLA, YUM YUM. Now about our service, my server was Shaylyn, Talk about a person that knows her menu and how to give great service, this girl has it covered. I never went out a fresh drink, she check our table often, always with a smile. THIS GIRL NEEDS EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH. The restaurant was clean as was the ladies room, the tables where clean when we arrived. I had no wait time for a Friday. I had a wonderful time and will be back again. This place is ridiculous. How it can get so much business for being so poor is beyond me. I went with a group of co-workers. There were 15 people in all. Since they don't take reservations, we arrived early, very aware that we would wait for awhile. They said a half hour to 45 minutes. Not a problem. We waited at the bar. When our table was called, we went to sit and realized that the table was two chairs short. We tried to squeeze two more chairs in but realized it wouldn't fit. Two people grudgingly volunteered to sit at an open booth that was clear across the room, with no apology or remorse from the host. Because we had such a big group, two waiters took care of us - good idea, considering most restaurants you go to with a big group takes forever. We got our drink and food order in and all was well. My co-worker and I split an appetizer, the Mac and Cheese Bites. Before we had ordered, I pointed out that 6 bites come with it, so it would be easy to share and split. However, when we got the bites, only 5 arrived. I mentioned it to the waiter who called me out, saying that only four come with it and we got an extra one so I should be happy with what I have. Getting quickly irritated, I asked for a menu to prove him wrong. He didn't come back until after our main meal was served. I asked again for a menu (at this point I really could've cared less about the bites, I just wanted to be proved right.) and he said he'd be right back with it. Half way through our meal he finally brought us two more bites, saying that it should've come with 6, not 5. "My bad" was the words he used. Really? An apology was in order, not a "my bad". One of my coworkers ordered a salad with her meal with a side of blue cheese dressing. After she put it on her salad and took a bite, she immediately spit it out, saying it tasted sour. We all sniffed it, it was definitely spoiled. We brought it to the waiters attention who said he'd check the kitchen. He said the date was good, so the dressing must be okay. "Maybe it's all of your noses." We were not happy. He asked if she wanted a replacement salad, she said no. When we got our meal, it wasn't the greatest. First off, I ordered steak, medium rare. I got a steak cooked well. Yuck. It was tough. I also ordered a bacon/bourbon seasoning on the steak, wasn't good and it didn't improve the flavor at all. Everyone complained about the mashed potatoes as well. Absolutely no seasoning and extremely bland. Overall, 11 out of the 15 people were disappointed in their food in one form or another. Bland, over or under cooked, or spoiled food ruined our night out. Also, whatever happened to "the customer is always right?" Arguing with me over the number of Mac and Cheese Bites was ridiculous. Oh, and my coworker with the spoiled Blue Cheese dressing? She missed the next two days of work from food poisoning. She said she called the restaurant the next day, telling them of her sickness and they told her that it must have been just a coincidence. Yeah. Never going there again. I'd much rather give my money to Logan's or even Ponderosa than this shit hole. read more

5 stars first visit - for food and service - 1 star for second visit - food 2 stars for service on second visit ***************** FIRST VISIT - We are from out of state and we joined family here for a dinner. Our server (sorry - can't remember his name) was exceptional and we each enjoyed our dinner - served in a timely fashion and was excellent. SECOND VISIT - well, our second visit was NOT a good one. In fact, if it had been our first visit, there would not have been another visit (and I'll share another experience at the end of this review.) Our family are big steak eaters and they love it here. We almost never get steak but . . decided to since we 'knew" it would be excellent since our family was so pleased with it. Well . . .not so!!! Steaks are ordered by the size you want - the number of ounces. Evidently my husband's steak was under-weight a tad, and so a VERY THIN slice of steak was added to the bottom of his steak. He requested his steak medium. This little sliver of a piece underneath the "piece" of steak was needless to say, well done. And . .our steaks were tough. If this had been the first piece of steak a person had, they'd never want another! Another person at the table ordered from the menu a lobster to go with the steak dinner - again the lobster was by size. The wrong size was brought out - (smaller than ordered - and we were charged for the smaller size - not sure where the goof was there.) We all had to wait for our beverages to be refilled. ************ After our first visit, someone we knew was wondering where to go for their anniversary. After our first wonderful experience, they drove the 45 minutes to Outback - and had a HORRIBLE experience - with both food and service. We felt SOOO badly! read more

As someone who has truly enjoyed Outback for many many years, tonight's meal was so horrifically awful from the quality of food to service to overall impressions that it's also our last meal at Outback. Slowly, we've been noticing a downward trend in quality, but we always came back thinking it will be better next time, but no longer. Sadly, no one would take ownership for all the failures, rather each person blamed someone else. After a medium well steak was brought out twice and both times rare, I left without a meal while my family ate theirs which was lukewarm at best and also not prepared to order. Condiments were never brought until one of us got up to request after the three employees who checked on our table failed to deliver. Tonight was about celebrating with my mom who had all her grandchildren gathered. Thankfully our joy comes from within, but I encourage you to head elsewhere when looking for a place to enjoy time together with family. Harvey's down the road is another favorite and will now be our go to place. Highly recommend you do so as well until Outback can address the multiple concerns expressed throughout all of these reviews. Glad to know other reviewers may have enjoyed, but it's far too pricey to take a gamble on what you might experience. I spoke with a manager at length and typically use this space to praise outstanding service/food, but tonight's experience warranted this post. read more

My husband and I have enjoyed going to Outback in the past so on a whim we decided to give the Saginaw Outback a try. We will not be back. My dirty martini must have been mixed immediately after some sort of fruity drink and tasted like green olives mixed with Malibu rum and raspberries. I asked the waitress if it was made incorrectly because it was gross and explained the flavor to her, and she said that they must have a different kind of vermouth than I'm used to and walked away. I didn't touch the drink the whole dinner and she never asked again if I wanted a new one or a different drink. My husband ordered his steak medium rare and it came out seared on the outside and raw on the inside. As with the other reviewer, they threw the same steak plus the pieces he had cut off back on the grill and brought out a half decently cooked piece of steak and a few charred pieces. The tilapia with crab and mushrooms was pretty good, but we both got sides of broccoli which were very, very over cooked, very small portions, and 2/3 stem. I've never seen a piece of regular broccoli at a restaurant with a 4 inch stem attached. After cutting off the excess, waterlogged stems, we were left with 3-4 small heads of broccoli each. The dinner also doesn't come with a side salad which I thought was odd since almost everywhere you go offers a side salad with an entree. read more

Went here while on a trip to visit family. Last time I was here the service and food quality was great. Everyone knows me as the guy that will eat just about anything without complaint, but this meal I did not finish. From the Blooming Onion with three times the appropriate batter to the lobster tail that came out gray, I expect I would have gotten better quality at the iHop across the street. The diet coke was stellar, but unfortunately my glass remained empty nearly the entire meal. Will not be back. read more

I will never go back to this place again. I so wanted the alice spring chicken for dinner but as normal they are out of prime rib again. I don't know how they can call themselves a steakhouse when out of the prime rib the last 20 times we have gone there my husband ends up eating a steak that he didn't want because they ran out. I have had them offer coupons to come back but this is the one that broke the camels back. If I get my free blooming onion I will take a long drive to get to another outback to redeem it. I was at Outback a few days ago and I am still regretting my decision! My husband and I was looking forward to going there when I got out of work on a Friday night and it was such a disappointment! Just reviewing the menu, I finally started to remember why I hadn't been back here in a few years! Never again! Stale bread was brought to us in the beginning! We both ordered steak and sadly had to decide if we wanted our salad to be included with our meal since it was one of the two side dishes or pay extra for it! Really?? It's a salad! My husband ordered steak and fries and the waitress asked if he wanted ketchup!!! I asked the waitress why they don't have bottles and the table and her response was that she had no idea! She also never stuck around to find out if my steak was cooked as requested which I wanted medium rare! Came out bloody. We finally had to flag down a different waitress just to flag down ours! After 20 minutes later and finally getting my steak back my husband was already done eating! I was charged almost 30 bucks for a 10 oz ribeye, a terrible cold and old potato and sautéed mushrooms! I'm glad I didn't pay extra for the salad!!! That being said if you read this go where I should have went to begin with which is LUCKYS!! Never again Outback!!!!! read more

I had a horrible experience with the outback it is usually my favorite restaurant but not in Saginaw I ordered a ribeye wedge salad and steakhouse Mack and cheese for curbside pickup they said it would take one hour, so I arrived on time and waited for 50 minutes so now since I had ordered my food almost 2 hours ago I go inside and ask why my food hadn't arrived the lady says I had a big order sorry I say well it must be cold by now she goes to get the manager the manager with her finger checks to see if the steak is cold yuck, then says it is and assumed I would take it well no I waited 2 hours already so she goes to have them recook it now another 45 minutes goes by I ask again how long will it be needless to say I waited over 3 hours for my food there was no a1 in the bag as I asked no ketchup as I asked and she was extremely rude I should have left when I realized they forgotten to bring my order and went to Taco because the food would have been better, I blame this on the manger she had a very poor way of handling this situation I can see why there are so many bad reviews now. read more

Great service and friendly staff! Restuarant was very clean and has a great ambiance. Have eaten steak at most places in town and this is by far the best steak in Saginaw!!!! I always use the website to check if they are on a wait, if they are you can add your name to the list ahead to time to shorten you wait time once you get there. read more

The service started out really well. The waitress was very attentive and checked in with us often. She kept our drinks full and brought us bread twice. She was pleasant and smiled a lot. We were offered bread a second time because it took a little over an hour before our main course came. No explanation was offered. Once I got my food, chicken sandwich, it was over cooked...burnt on one side. The condiments had all spilled out onto my fries making them soggy. My company said the burger was good, not the greatest they had ever had, but not the worst either. However, they were not able to eat much of it because we kept eating bread while waiting for our food. We also were seated near the kitchen and one of the waitresses kept bellowing "corner." While I appreciate her preventing an accident I don't appreciate someone bellowing behind my booth while I'm trying to have a conversation. I used the facilities while there and the stall I used had a broken handle that left no way to latch it closed. I improvised, out of necessity, and was rewarded with no toilet paper. A sign on the door, indicating it was out of order, would have been much appreciated. read more

My Wife and I went for our 1 year anniversary. We both tried the 4 course meal for $15. The meal came with soup, salad, main meal, and dessert. The soup we tried was the potatoe soup and it was good, it could of been a little hotter though to melt the cheese. The salad was good too. I tried the pecan/blue cheese. I went with steak and baked potatoe with everything and it was good too. Then we finished with cheese cake being they ran out of carrot cake. How does a place run out of 1 of 2 choices for dessert. I amazes me that Outback bills itself as a steakhouse. IMO, the steaks are horrible - overly seasoned and never cooked correctly per my request. All I ask is that my steak be cooked 'medium' and it comes back practically rare. My spouse and I must be gluttons for punishment because all we've received were bad experiences in steak preparation, but we keep going back, thinking that maybe they improved. NOT. We went back a few weeks ago - I ordered my steak 'medium' as usual and it came back almost raw. I had taken only a few bites of the steak, when the server came over and could see that my steak was not done. So what did they do??? They took the same steak, slapped it back on the grill along with the 3 small pieces that I'd already cut up and brought it back practically charred, including those 3 small pieces that now looked like pieces of coal. We were horrified - thank God they didn't charge us....needless to say, we will NEVER be back. read more
