This is a great spot with knowledgeable and friendly staff! I was shopping around to get my dad a nice new pole and reel as a gift. I'm no fishing expert so I needed some help shopping around for a gift that would fit his needs. I made the mistake of going into a 'big box" sporting store and visiting the fishing section. When I found an employee he literally said to me "Sorry bro, that's not my game. Can't really help you. I'm a bass guy". Seriously? Fast forward a few hours and I walked into Outdoor Pro shop. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. They really know their stuff and make you feel good about spending your money there. I couldn't believe the difference in customer service. Awesome store and a cool group of guys working there that also love fishing as much as I do. I got help from one of the managers getting some rock fishing gear. I asked about bass fishing and he looked confused, but he set me up with one of the bass guys that work there. I enjoyed the help I got from the manager and I guess not everyone knows about all fishing, but I was pleased that he took the time to get me to the right guy so that I did get the help I was needing. Sorry I don't remember the guys' names who helped me. Cool shop, tons of great products, and guys that are real knowledgeable in the fishing that they love to do. Saw some other reviews about return issues, I do remember seeing a return policy sign about needing a receipt to do a return, seemed pretty standard but I have yet to need to make return. I went to the shop yesterday for the first time and was very impressed. I am a fly fisherman but love fishing in general and all things outdoors. The guys were friendly and Marc was very knowledgeable when it comes to the intricacies of fly fishing. They have the very best brands including Sage, Simms, Loon and a decent selection of fly tying materials. They actually have the best selection of Simms clothing and waders that I've ever seen. I highly recommend this shop if you are in the North Bay and looking for friendly knowledgeable staff, competitive prices and good selection. read more

A few initial comments, first, I have never stepped foot in the store, second, part of the problem I had was caused by me, it was their incredibly poor followup that was a disappointment. At Christmas a gift certificate and a small item were purchased for me by a friend. The gift certificate is simply a piece of paper with the value on it, lots of non chains do this and it is fine. I did not realize that this gift cert. was included with the gift item I was given and I tossed it into the trash on Christmas morning. When I was told that a gift certificate was included, I called Outdoor Pro Shop during open hours. A recored message indicated the messages are checked often and I would get a return call. The call never came. I called three times each time leaving a message then got a call back, a message was left on my phone, I called back within minutes and got the same old recording. Eventually and after several weeks, I did get in contact with staff, we actually spoke over the next month several times, a few staffers were a little unconcerned with the issue. I was able to provide the date and approximately time of the sale as well as what was purchased. I had left this info a bunch of times. They did their research and could find the item purchased but not the gift certificate. (I found this odd, they were purchased in the same transaction) The fact that i lost the gift certificate was by fault but Outdoor Pro Shop staff need to answer phones, return calls in a timely manner and demonstrate the ability to identify a transaction. Frankly I just was not that impressed with any aspect of the interaction. I don't have many options in Sonoma County but I will shop for my fishing supplies elsewhere. read more

Horrible service! Every time I called It was like I was Pestering them when I just wanted to get a physical check on items ahead of time so I didn't drive down there for nothing. First they say with confidence that they were completely out of stock which made me drive down to walmart instead. Then, I call them back while I'm standing in the fishing isle there and the guy tells me yeah they have a bunch of them. I then ask politely please tell me what brand they are and got more frustration like its so hard to walk over and do a simple task. Turns out walmart was way cheaper anyways. I dont like spending my money at places where people are rude or lazy. It makes me feel like I'm not appreciated as a customer and hope this review is taken into consideration. Good luck. read more

Without a doubt, the finest fishing tackle dealer in California. I am 40 years old and have been to many tackle shops in my life and Outdoor Pro Shop beats them all, not only for selection but for a knowledgeable staff. These guys have a passion for fishing and it shows. If you can not find anything to catch a fish in this giant tackle store, maybe you shouldn't be fishing. Terrible return policy, if I have to spend top dollar they should at least back what they sell

I've been impressed by these folks even at the much smaller location they were in before. Now, with the new, much larger store they are even better. I appreciate the fact that they cater to all fishermen, bait, fly, lure, freshwater, saltwater. And they cater to all price ranges, not just the high end gear. A lot of stores have a couple, three, four items on a peg, one buyer and they are out of stock. These folks have enough of an item on hand so as not to run out of popular items. Prices are good, and in the numerous bargain bins inside the store, sometimes great. I've always found the staff really helpful, I've worked in the fishing industry myself, and I've never been told a tall tale, or been sold stuff I didn't need........ read more

I planned a trip to the Cotati store awhile back and encountered two accidents on the roadway which would have surely prevented me from arriving before the store closed. It's a 1.5 hour drive for me to get to the store. I called the store while en route and the manager kept the store open late just for me. I've been going to Outdoor Pro Shop for years for my fishing needs. The staff there is the absolute best! They are knowledgeable about local fishing and the fishing supplies you need. They've never steered me wrong. Outdoor Pro Shop stands by their repairs and service -- I once had a problem with three fishing reels getting lost in the mail when sent out for repair and the shop replaced the reels and line. Yesterday I was in asking about albacore fishing and Mike Erion made up special riggings for me. This local family-owned shop goes far beyond the service of what you'd get buying online. I am a bass fisherman that orders gear on line from here. They have a very easy to use website. I like that they have new gear coming in all the time. They carry some different stuff you can't find in other places. They also have special custom baits you can only buy from them. They have a huge selection of baits and lots of line options. I have found that the prices are cheaper than some place like bass pro and are the same or slightly cheaper than tackle warehouse. What I really like about Monster Fishing Tackle is the speed in which I receive my orders. A few times I have made plans to go fishing on a Saturday and will order gear I need on Thursday. I always get my orders on Friday. It doesn't get any better than that. A few times the store has sold out of an item and I will receive a call asking if I want a different item or my money back for the item. The guys on the phone are always extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend buying from here, it is the only place I will use from now on. read more

Thank you again Outdoor Pro Shop, not for the miles of awesome fishing tackle, but this time for being a full line Yeti dealer. Last year while at deer camp for 3 days in 90 degree weather and melted ice after one day I decided to purchase a big Yeti cooler. Best $$ ever spent, and just got back this year after the 3 day opener and still had ice in the cooler. We were so impressed with Yeti, we purchased 12-20 oz Rambler Tumblers and can honestly say you can have 5 or 6 drinks with the same cup of ice..unreal product! Over the years I have bought fishing product from many stores and online. For the last 4 years or so I have been shopping at Outdoor Pro Shop and over the last 2 years it has been my exclusive tackle shop of choice. I have been impressed several times by the service. They have great prices, SUPER FAST delivery service and a huge selection. There have been times where I was low on product or needed a specific lure a couple days before a tournament. Normally in the past I would drive to some local tackle shop to see if they had what I needed.. well I no longer have to do that. These guys have gotten me what I needed when I needed it! The shipping time is OUTSTANDING to say the least. Product is at my door in 2 days tops and if you order early enough, it can even show up the next day depending on where you live.
