We arrived on Monday and departed Friday to continue our vacation. We checked into a more "highly regarded" and more expensive B&B today. Already, we see many things at Bald Mountain House we do not find here. First, Monica is an amazing hostess, incredible chef (most amazing breakfasts ever!), and cares for her guests so well! It is the most peaceful and tranquil place we have ever stayed. The king Tempur-pedic in the Blue Ridge Suite was like being in our own bed at home, except the only sounds we heard was the flowing steam and singing birds. The cool mountain are allowed us to keep the windows open our entire stay, even when we turned on the AC for a cool sleep at night. The place smelled so fresh and was very clean (perfect 100 sanitation rating). There were always drinks stocked in the fridge and coffee and cookies available in the dining room. The tap water was soft and tasted as good as any bottled water. We enjoyed the many comfy chairs on the huge covered porch as we watched golden finches, hummingbirds, and other beautiful birds feast at the many feeders while we looked at the vast mountain range above the flower planter boxes. We were able to do some hiking on the infamous Appalachian Trail, including breathtaking views atop Big Bald mountain. Monica provided a lot of helpful information when we asked, especially regarding dinner ideas. While the owners were on site and available 24/7, we appreciated that unlike other places we have been they did not immerse themselves into their guests space! We hope to return again in the future!

Not exaggerating when I say he made us one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had, with thick slices of perfectly ripe tomato, and perfectly cooked/seasoned crinkle fries. In the morning, we had some of the best biscuits with sausage gravy, and pancakes and bacon since my grandma's! I'm sure the fresh, cool, mountain air had something to do with our appetites, but really, he did an excellent job at making some simple comfort food. We felt very at home with them as our hosts. RiverDance was the perfect spot for our group too. We stayed with some newly acquired "friends" of the bride (like us) and we all had plenty of space to get to know each other without invading each other's space. The views are incredible too. We had so much fun returning from wedding events to just hang out together. I would recommend RiverDance to anyone who is visiting the Marshall / Hot Springs area. I know we will be back :)

Every place we've rented has been nice but never great enough to get us to come back for a repeat visit. Those days of bouncing around are over! Now that we've experience the Chestnut Street Inn and Emilie & Arturo's hospitality, we will never stay anywhere else. The Inn is perfectly located, just a short walk and even shorter drive/uber to downtown. The room we stayed in was adorable and super comfy. We loved the furnishings, soft sheets and towels on the bed, etc. But, the in-room gas fireplace was by far my favorite amenity -- I found myself not even wanting to venture out but rather sit in the room warming my feet by the fire. (Don't worry though, we went out!) Throughout our stay, it was fun to discover all the hidden treats in the common areas. There were homemade cookies and chocolate in every nook and cranny of the place! Breakfast was amazing and prepared fresh each morning. Lots of helpful info way of pamphlets and brochures are all over the Inn but if you need any advice, I'd encourage you to just chat with Emilie. She had lots of great suggestions on where to go and what to do and seemed to genuinely love the area. We're looking forward to our next visit!

But everything else was a solid 3. Nothing wrong with it at all... But, I was underwhelmed based on my previous experiences. When we checked in, the host was fine. The room was fine. The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

However, I was expecting this to be a special and elegant experience and it was not. When we arrived during the specific check in time the door was locked and no one was in the front office. It turns out they were showing someone else to their room but we didn't know that. We just stood out on the porch not knowing what to do until someone finally came to the door. There's no reason they couldn't have the front door unlocked during the limited window of check in time. The person who showed us around said there would be "heavy continental breakfast ". However, it turned out the breakfast was probably the very absolute minimum they could provide and still call it breakfast. It was very disappointing. If I'm not mistaken it was only available from 8:30 until 9:30 or something very limited like that. Finally, there was no lotion in our bathroom, only shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. I would stay there again but I would have to weigh the options of amenities and prices of other hotels. A regular mid price hotel has more amenities than what was offered when we stayed.

My husband and I booked a weekend trip to Asheville and this was our first AirBnB trip. This place had everything I wanted and more. From the moment we arrived, it exceeded my expectations. Graham and Felicity, the owners, are AMAZING! Felicity is super sweet and Graham is hilariously funny and accommodating. To begin, this B&B sits on several acres of land with a beautiful view of farmland and the mountains of Asheville. Trees and bushes flower all around you, and there are quite a number of cozy places to relax. Inside, the house feels very cozy, and the decor is spot on. Each room has a bathroom, and each room is completely different than the others. We stayed in the Hummingbird room (the purple one), which had plenty of room and a porch that led directly to the pool. It was too cold to swim, but the view was beautiful. We took advantage of the hot tub instead, which was relaxing and had a nice view. Graham is a chef by trade and he pampered us the entire weekend. We were greeted with a freshly made cake, which was quite yummy. On our second morning, we had an early excursion that prevented us from staying for breakfast. Graham not only prepared a cooler for my husband and I to take with us to have food to eat later, he also got up super early and made sure to bake some yummy pastries and have them waiting for us before we walked out the door. I can't say enough about how him taking the time to pack us a cooler, meant to us. We were both famished after our excursion and we drove up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, sat on the overlook, and had an excellent picnic brunch. We were able to enjoy brunch Sunday morning and it was excellent. Everything tastes so fresh and is presented beautifully. Normally most people would do their own thing at a B&B, but we actually enjoyed hanging out with Graham and Felicity. They were great company and it felt like we were all old friends. But if you desire complete privacy, they are completely respectful of that as well. Every little thing at Greenfield had a personal touch to it- from the food, to the specialty candies in the bedroom, to the decor. The owners are more than accommodating and the place itself is simply gorgeous. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

While this B&B is relatively new in the Asheville area, the warmth and comfort are evident as if it's been around for many years. Even though we arrived slightly early on the day of our visit, we found Graham to be extremely accommodating in a refined British style. After a short visit to the local Asheville art scene, we were greeted by a wonderful homemade chocolate cake garnished with eatable rose petals and chocolate mint leaves from his garden that Graham had prepared while we were touring. Sitting on the back patio of his home, overlooking 25 acres of a pastoral setting and the vistas of mountains in the distance permitted all tensions to dissipate. Morning breakfast was a delight as we were greeted by a one card menu that exhibited the skills and character of a professionally trained chef that used to work at the Biltmore. I enthusiastically endorse Greenfield Manor and wish him well on his future by recommending him with 5 stars.
