I was in from out of town visiting earlier in the week, and decided to stop in on my way back to hotel from the Rehoboth beach Christmas parade. Living in NY State, there's tax on everything, so it was nice too see a large liquor , beer and cider store. My visit was this past Monday, on my birthday , December 1. The staff I encountered were friendly, and helpful, for a slow Monday. My selections were a variety of hard cider, and a bottle of wine for under $30. The ambiance was spacious , well stocked, clean. larger aisles, each section seperate, wine, beer, seltzer, cider . The no tax was an amazing benefit. i've visited this store twice now, and both times their scanners flagged my REAL state-issued ID as fake. i am of legal age to purchase alcohol, yet i've been denied both times due to scanner issues with my ID. of course, i understand that if the system cannot verify the ID, store policy may prevent the sale, however i was very unhappy with the way the situation was handled this most recent visit. after scanning both mine and my boyfriend's IDs, instead of simply letting me know that mine was reading as fake, the cashier immediately became confrontational and started with, "if you want this back you're gonna have to talk to the state police," which was loudly stated across multiple check out lanes and escalated the situation right from the beginning. when i asked her which ID was causing the problem (because she still had both), she responded "yours." in a cold and accusatory tone. i did not appreciate the hostile attitude and immediately felt uncomfortable. i attempted to calmly explain that this has happened before, and the first time, they had a manager (?) manually check my card and verified that it was real. this time, she did not accept my explanation or my offer to show my DE mobile ID app, so we requested for a manager ourselves. when the manager arrived, he was of a much calmer composure than the cashier, which i appreciated. he asked her if the card was reading 'yellow or red', and she told him red, again in a snappy tone. he tried it on two more different scanners before eventually telling us he would be unable to serve us, and turned us away. he also gave me back my card without having us go through the police which was nice. this is the only liquor store i've ever had this issue with. i would appreciate if this happens again that we aren't immediately treated with disrespect, as i truly did nothing wrong in this situation and the problem is with their faulty scanners. sad because i really do like this store and their selection but now i feel afraid to return. read more

Let me add my own voice to the increasing number of people who aren't happy with Outlet Liquors instituting a 2.5% credit card fee. I didn't notice any signage in the store, and I was only informed about the fee AFTER I HAD TAPPED MY CREDIT CARD - and even then, the cashier mumbled it rather than clearly advising me of the fee. Bigger isn't necessarily better - so from now on, it's Bin 66 on the Forgotten Mile for me. The staff is incredibly helpful in making suggestions, the wine selections are well-curated, and they host regular tastings so you can try before you buy and learn more about the wines from the distributors. Most of all, these folks appreciate your business - unlike the "big box" liquor store out on Coastal Highway where customer service is indeed an afterthought. read more

What is funny about this place, and what drew me in, is the billboard that boasts they are the third largest liquor store in the country. Actually it says fourth, but fourth is scratched out and third replaces it. I figured I would give this a stop on my way out of here before heading towards my next stop. Pulling in was fairly easy and finding a spot was simple as such. I entered the store and walked about without any one item in mind to purchase. The best way to describe this would be to say that this is a big box liquor store. Something like Walmart when it comes to selection and pricing. But only focusing on liquors. I wondered about looking at everything they offered and found myself in their rather large wine section. I browsed around a bit until a wine that I haven't had in almost two years might be available here. I was right. I found and and ended up grabbing two bottles right there and headed to the front of the store. Now I have seen the many reviews that were saying that customer service was horrible here, so I prepared myself for the register area. However, I did not have a bad experience here. In fact the lady that helped me was pleasant and somewhat funny to deal with. I was checked out and on my way out the door with no bad experiences to speak of. read more

Outlet Liquors is MASSIVE and will be your best friend when visiting Rehoboth Beach since alcohol (including beer and wine) cannot be sold at grocery stores. However small management edicts spoil all that, such as introducing a surcharge on all credit card transactions, raising the qualifying spend amount for free water, and now prohibiting cashiers from giving out dog treats. These sound trifles in relation to the broader context, however they denote a mean-spirited approach to customers that just rubs us the wrong way. So they're strict on ID vetting as any responsible liquor store should be, yet customers' young children (under 10) are wandering around the store completely unsupervised, trying to lift up things, no parents in sight, yet staff in places that can clearly see the children and not take action? While they are telling people at register why they can't purchase alcohol (overheard). And there's an ussable large sign explicitly saying you must be 21 to enter, inside the store, but if the policy is selectively enforced they shouldn't be surprised when there's isssues at the registers! read more

This is what I think their recruitment looks like - "Do you enjoy a job where you can make people miserable? Check. Can you act like you don't want to be at work for a full 8-hour shift? Check. Can you treat people in a way that will make them question if they ever want to come back? Check. HIRED! I know they are really busy most weekends but even when I am there during the off-season, they treat you pretty much as if they are doing you a favor to check you out. This place is very big, has lots of variety, reasonably priced, & was recommended by local bartenders. I've been I. This store probably 10+ times and the staff there was always friendly, busy, & helpful. I never had anyone be rude to me. They recently added a cheese and snack refrigerator case (center rear) and they often have someone performing in the middle. They have spots you can sit if you're waiting on someone. Wine to the left & rear. Expensive wine center. Liquors and spirits right, and seltzer's and beer to far right addition area with some seltzer's highlighted in the middle on displays. Snacks like peanuts, pretzels in line area on way to pay. I think they also give you a case discount. read more

This place is HUGE! We were directed here by a waiter in Rehoboth when we wanted to buy a pack of local beer we'd tried. He said if this place didn't carry a type of beer, nowhere would. Boy was he right! Huge selection of liquors, beers, and wines. Be advised that they definitely card you as you walk around. I'm used to getting carded, regardless of being over a decade older than the legal drinking age. I was carded twice, but whatever, it's the law. And do I look like I'm in my 30s? Really? Great store, I live down the street and can say you'll probably find the lowest prices here. Also the selection is great, huge variety. I give this place a 2 out of 5 stars because the service is pretty terrible. Staff isn't very friendly, mostly the older staff though working the cash registers. Some of the younger guys have actually been really helpful in providing drink recommendations or helping me find a product. Do not leave the store thinking you can return and/or exchange products, they don't do that and will tell you to look at the bottom of your receipt. All sales are final. Also heads up for any tourists, they will ask to see you ID while you shop if you look young to them. They won't let anyone underage in the store and they get a lot of them attempting in the summer months. They did the same thing to my cousin visiting from VA in 06/2018 and one of my ex's a few months before that. I saw a comment on here from someone thinking they were being singled out for being asked ID and that racism was involved, that is definitely is not the case.
