I rarely write reviews on restaurants, but this place really blew me away with how bad everything was too to bottom. I just recently went here and had a terrible experience. We had a restaurant.com certificate which they were not willing to honor because they said the owner decided they will no longer accept certificates. They did not have a sign up besides a sign all the way in the back by the kitchen. In addition, their menu said the gyros were $11.00. Instead, they charged us $13.00 and said "the menu price has changed but we just didn't update the menu yet". I just looked at a review from 8 months ago and someone had a similar complaint about how they were charged a higher price than what was advertised on the menu. Clearly they are not just in the process of changing the menu as this was 8 months ago. How can you charge someone a price different than the menu given to customers? This is false advertising! I will never come back here. This place is an absolute scam. The calamari was terrible and felt like something just frozen and heated up. The dolmades was overly sour. The gyros were dry. This place should not be in business, by far the worst food you could ask for. I ordered a burger the simplest of them all, and I received a joke. Idk how this business is still open. But definitely needs a lot of work. Looking at other yelp reviews it seems very common. I feel sad that I am giving my time to write this review. Tried getting a Gryo a few times during current Covid Situation, one day drove by and the ownerr frank caught me as he was leaving. He went back inside and made me a Gyro personally. He went above and beyond and I enjoyed the best Gyro I've had in the MKE area yet. I will be coming back soon. read more

After walking all over downtown last night playing the new Pokémon Go app, me and my boyfriend found this wonderful restaurant!!! We came in at approximately 10:30pm and checked out the menu. Ordered 2 gyro combos (came with olives, sour cream, a block of feta cheese, and the seasoned lamb on top of pita bread). Boyfriend had gyro with roasted potatoes and those potatoes were soooooooooo delicious!! For my side I got a salad which was really good as well. Let me tell you!!! First time eating lamb and it was so delicious. What I like about the food is the quality and quantity, A+ for the price. The staff is friendly and very nice people. PLUS they open till 3:30 am (I'm not 100% sure if that applies to everyday) and if I bar crawl, I can depend on coming here for some bomb food. Greek food at it's absolute worst ! Wife and I met daughter and son in law in Milwaukee last nite for dinner at Ouzo Cafe. We wanted to come here for Father's day last summer but they are closed on Sunday. How they stay OPEN should be the question? We ordered three appetizers, feta & olives, saganaki and calamari. Feta & olives, cubes of feta, with no olive oil, no seasoning, nothing but bland cheese and pitted kalamatas. Saganaki was good. Now lets get to the calamari. I've eaten calamari at dozens of Greek and Italian restaurants thru out the country and this was the worst ever ! I didn't know that OnCor made calamari. Uniform nuggets of what, I do not know Absolutely inedible ! Sixteen bucks to boot. Lets get to the entree's. Four dinners, four lousy meals. Son in law opted for moussaka, Had no taste, didn't even look appetizing. Daughters keftedes were cooked on Thursday, reheated on Friday and served to her on Saturday. Burnt to a crisp, no self respecting Greek cook would allow that plate to EVER leave the kitchen! My gyro plate was unassuming and way overcooked. Wife had shrimp souvlaki, 41-50 count shrimp, about six of them ! Don't even think about eating here ! Forgot about one thing, NO RUNNING WATER IN THE LADIES RESTROOM !! Ate at ouzo cafe after the Elton John concert. Frank the owner was our waiter. Very friendly. We started with the grilled octopus which was awesome. The Greek salad was delicious. We also had a great Greek white wine and red wine. For the main course we had the chicken souvlakia which was very moist and had great taste. Recently started coming here for lunch on occasion after Mykanos closed down. Food has always been fairly good with relatively decent portions. Today was an exception however. First thing I noticed was the prices went up across the board. Shrugging that off I ordered a gyro to go but upon inspection was thoroughly disappointed. The gyro was seriously tiny compared to everywhere else I've ordered one. The meat was burnt badly, pita was dry and the tzatziki had a weird flavor. How do you screw up a gyro at a Greek restaurant? Yay! I'm a fan....of any place that is open at 3am and serves decent food. Went here with a group of guys after last call to soak up the alcohol. They don't serve the full menu this late, pretty much just the gyros. I ordered the Zeus which was some spicy mix of ground lamb and pork in gyro bread with raw onions - could have used some tomatoes and lettuce at least. Also, maybe not the best choice for a 3am meal as it is spiiiicy. We all shared their hummus as well which was very good. One other benefit of the the 3am meal is the 3am people watching. The manager / owner / waiter / bartender presided deludely over a completely empty restaurant on a Friday night, refusing to accept my 2 restaurant.com certificates for 2 diners. The decor is gratuitous, including lewd images in the men's room, but the emptyness of the space combined with the combatative tenor of the owner was beyond forgiveable. The drinks were terrible, thoughtless and haphazard. Even though their restaurant was named "Ouzo", only one brand was available. The "ouzotini" combined with lime, triple sec, cranberry and pineapple was a disaster. The whiskey old-fashioned tasted like a Shirley Temple gone wrong. The gyro I had was no better than any fast food gyro, and the accompanying veggies were cheap and flavorless. Tzatziki sauce was served in a disposable cup with lid, though we sat down for tableservice. Tacky. Overall, if you would like cheap, overpriced food with crappy decor and verbal abuse then this is the place for you. read more

Here we go. I'd been waiting to go to Ouzo for quite some time now. We went on Saturday night at 7:30pm. First, my boyfriend tried to call before hand to possibly make a reservation for 4. He said he tried a couple of times and no one answered. At 7:30, three of the four of us arrived. The place was empty. The restaurant next door was packed. Wary, we walked in. I thought the decor was pretty cool. Nice, unassuming, and yet trendy tables and chairs, awesome fans, and 3 gigantic greek sculptures along the walls. Clearly a sit down place, but the back of this small walk in restaurant was an ordering counter with a large printed menu hung on the wall. As not a single other person was in sight, we yelled "hello?" and eventually a man (somewhere between 20 and 30) sauntered out and asked us if we were ordering out. We said no, we wanted to sit down. He said sit anywhere. We sat and he gave us menus and walked away. He was not particularly friendly. A few minutes later, a group of 6 people, probably in their 40s or 50s walked in. The waiter (for lack of a more descriptive term) told them to sit down, he brought them menus. By the time we looked back up, they'd received drinks already. Our 4th person was running a bit late. When she arrived, he came back to our table. I asked for a cocktail menu. We decided on drinks and the flaming cheese and ordered. We saw the other table get their appetizer. I ordered a specialty cocktail - the waiter consulted a person who was likely the cook about how to make this cocktail. We ordered our food. We got a round of ouzo (I liked it, licorice flavor) We got the flaming cheese (pretty cool!). Waiter lit it table side. I asked what kind of cheese it was (I didn't recall from the menu). He said he didn't know. And he didn't go find out. We grabbed a menu and found out for ourselves. We had to ask for water refills multiple times. He took 3 glasses at a time, filled them up, brought them back and declared "I kept them in the same order as I took them". Wow, really, no pitchers then? And now, the food: I ordered the Greek salad. Basically, big chunks of tomato, onion, cucumber, and feta in oil and lemon juice (I ordered no anchovies). The feta was in big, hard chunks - which signals that it is not fresh cheese, as a soft whey cheese like feta should be crumbly when fresh. Overall was okay, the tomatoes and cucumber were fresh. I ordered a side of fries to satisfy a craving. My fries took an extra 5 minutes, but came right out of the fryer. Fine fries, definitely using frozen prepacked premade fries. My boyfriend and brother both had the gyro. Both agreed to 2.5 stars, neither would order again. Very spicy and very salty. My friend had the pastitso (pasta, beef, cheese casserole). She also said 2.5 stars, would not order again. In conclusion, this place fell far short of its potential. The atmosphere and décor were so awesome. The service, in one word, sucked. The food did not live up to expectations. This place could make a serious killing if they improved their food and service. It's such a cool concept! read more

If you are looking for a step up from your typical Greek gyro restaurant, Ouzo will provide you with an excellent meal for a decent price. When you first walk in to Ouzo you will be greeted by a giant statue head projecting out of the wall. It gives the narrow space a very unique feel, like you are dining in the ruins of a Greek temple. Those more familiar to a menu at Greek restaurants that consist of only a gyro as their "authentic" Greek food will be surprised to see a rather robust selection at Ouzo. My top choice is their house special called "The Zeus". A combination of grilled ground pork and lamb, seasoned with Greek spices and served just as a traditional gyro would be. Combine that with a side of their Greek fries (fries smothered in feta cheese, olive oil and Greek spices) and you will have a meal to remember. Their salads and chicken entrees are also very good. If you are a fan of Athenian chicken, you should try it. read more

The owner is pretty smart for keeping this place open until 3:30am on Friday and Saturday in an area that has a decent amount of bars. They don't have the best Gyros in the world , but it is not horrible either. I am not sure how late they serve liquor until. Something tells me the Saganaki here rocks. The waitress was nice, however, bottled water was served without a glass and we waited 40 minutes for a skimpy salad with scorched octopus, lackluster veggies and boring dressing and a weak gyro. I am fully aware of the short staffed overwhelming nights the service industry is going through right now. My coworkers and I are also in the service industry and had just finished a long night at work. We went to Ouzo for some drinks and food. We each specifically ordered singles for the first round and one of us out of three specifically ordered a double for the second round. We were charged doubles for all three of us for both rounds. We asked for separate checks and were given one, which is not that big of a deal. What was a big deal to us was getting charged doubles for both rounds with all three of our drinks, when only one drink out of 6 should have been charged as a double. When we brought this up to the bartender he got very defensive and said "well you drank them didn't you?". We did in fact drink them, but under the impression they were singles. Not only is this an issue with how we were charged but also could be an issue with someone who does not want, or can not handle a double when they do not specifically ask for one. The bartender then continued to call us hostile and when we asked to speak to a manager she started yelling at him, and then at us telling us all to "shut up". Nothing was taken off the bill and we left paying way more than we expected. We were there for about two hours and the bartender drank more than the three of us combined in those two hours. We are all very understanding with long waiting periods and staff who are tired and overworked, but the fact that we had a concern about our tab and were responded to with anger and hostility is where we were offended as costumers. Terrible costumer service is an understatement. The food is good but it is not worth it to be charged for things you simply did not order. read more

Came here for lunch and had the worst experience. Waited over an hour for our food, had to take it in to go boxes because didn't even have time to eat it. Got my box and half of the food was missing. Waitress shrugged her shoulders and told me they were out of food I ordered? Umm, thanks - already paid. Waited another 10 mins for extra food. Just awful customer service. How do you run a biz downtown without being able to serve lunch in a timely manner? Don't get me started on the dry chicken kabobs I ordered.....the quality is a whole different post. I came here with coworkers last week for lunch after the place we originally wanted to go to was closed. It had just opened and didn't jump out at us from the street, but we decided to try it. The Tzatziki appetizer with pita was great. Very garlicky and the cucumber was refreshing. I had the chicken souvlaki sandwich and it was very tasty. I tried my friend's dolmates and they were awesome. They tasted just like my mom's actually. We were the only ones in there since they just opened and it was nice they split up our checks. The only downside is that the hostess/server was outside writing on the board when we walked in so no one greeted us or told us where to sit. I'll stick to Apollo for Greek food, but overall Ouzo was good. read more

Good food, but for some reason the place is ALWAYS empty. Makes me suspicious but I keep going back. The gyros are good, but not the best I've had. But what I do love are the greek fries.
