In A Nutshell: -Ouzo Cafe is a nice Mediterranean restaurant located in downtown MKE. -I was looking for a healthy meal during this trip so I wouldn't get bloated prior to the triathlon. -I was happy to find this restaurant. -I ordered their shish kabobs which comes in 3, you can choose from chicken, pork or beef. -The greek salad was also very good, very flavorful. Overall, the service was friendly & attentive.

Authentic Greek food in the heart of Milwaukee. Fun whimsical decor and very good service. The Souvlaki was more like a sandwich wrap than what I'm used to from Astoria, but delicious. A nice dinner at a reasonable price.

This was today's restaurant to support so I stopped by for lunch because I wanted a gyro sandwich. The place is small with a nice bar in the back and you still can't eat in the place yet so I got take out. I ordered the gyro sandwich that was ready in about 7 minutes and I was on my way. The gyro sandwich comes with a sauce on the side and a small salad thing. The gyro sandwich was not the over stuffed kind like some places give you so you don't have to eat a bunch of meat from the top to start eating the sandwich but it's enough. The gyro sandwich also doesn't have tons of tomato's and onions like some places but once again just enough. The gyro sandwich has a little sauce already on the bottom but I used the little cup because a gyro needs to be drowned in sauce. The meat was flavorful and the pita was thin and nicely cooked. The sauce was pretty good that has a nice creamy thick texture, not the runny kind that drips out of the gyro like some places. Overall the gyro was good but it's not a gut buster like some places and it didn't replace my favorite gyro place.

We ordered a bunch of small plates, but the menu is a little pricey so go into it knowing that. We ordered the saganaki, tiropita, spanikopita, and Greek wings. The saganaki was by far my favorite! It was delicious and lemony, and the thin pita it came with was the perfect accompaniment. The Tiropita and Spanikopita are essentially the same except one is filled with feta and the other spinach. Both were solid in my opinion as well. The Greek wings really didn't do it for me - they were hard to eat, and there wasn't much flavor. The dipping sauce was delicious with the fries though. Overall it was about $70 for the four small plates. Would definitely go back for dinner with friends, it's a great option for those looking to share and try new things.

This place is overpriced!! $16 Crown Royal and coke? Not only that, they added the 18%. This happened in Dic 31, and no one was there, we were the only people there at 10pm. The place was empty. When I ask how much is it? He told me $39.50 witch is with tip included with out telling me that!! ( so he can get more tip?!) Never go back again. $40 for 2 Crown Royal!!!!!!

I'm a bit surprised by the high reviews here, either we caught them on a bad night or the other reviewers have never had really good Greek food?! We ordered chicken, dolmades, pastitso, hummus, saganaki, soup, and two desserts. There's no point in describing each dish, they were all so-so. I would hope, with that many dishes at least one would be special. Next time I'm headed to Greek Islands in Chicago.

Delicious food! Came here for lunch with couple colleagues who really recommend this place. I was surprised that I hadn't come here yet. The decor was so interesting. They have simple table and chair and humongous Greek wall sculptures! Their food was good quality and service was super. As we entered the host attended us and got us seated right away. He got us water and asked us about any other beverage we would like (they had a deal on wine, but we couldn't avail as we were going back to work). Ouzo's menu has plenty of delicious options so some of us asked for recommendations. He recommended that the chicken was really good so I got the chicken shish kabob platter and I loved every bit of it. The chicken was extremely tender and cooked to perfection. The chicken skewer came with veggies and the platter had rice and pita. It was a good quantity as well. I felt like I ate a lot of good tasty grilled veggies. They taziki sauce was delicious as well. One of us got the lamb gyro and just by looking at it I could tell that it was going to be delicious! Now that I have discovered a new Greek place in the heart of downtown I plan on coming here more often!

Cheers for some Greek food & wine on a Saturday!

I am straddling the line between 3-4 stars, but thinking further- a three is chosen. And being in Greece last year upped the ante for expectations. I really like the interior. It is cozy, romantically lit, and references Grecian statutes. Our server was pleasant but we were left with empty appetizer and entree plates longer than I would prefer to look at, and we had to ask for beverage refills. The Greek Trio appetizer was the best item tried. Three traditional spreads with soft, warm pita on the side. We all enjoyed mixing the options and liked the crunchy cucumber dividing the selection. The bacon gyro wrap was recommended- classic gyro but with bacon. It was underwhelming, and the side of Greek potato was bordering on over-salted. The Winchester burger was similarly sigh-inducing. There was no notable difference with the three meat patty and it was a little dry. The accompanying french fries were tasty though! If I return, I would try the Cafe Platter, hoping it follows in the steps of the traditional Greek spreads. Side note: their Ouzo list is long! Definitely living up to the forename!

Keftedes - spicy Greek meatballs came with tzatziki & pita
Pamela M.

The first time I've had just tzatziki as an appetizer - it was really delicious here! Yum to the Yum! It was served with pita, but we asked for some fresh vegetables, as well (cucumber, tomato, green pepper) which was great - who needs just bread? Although, the pita was grilled off and quite yummy, too. The wine was recommended by the person cooking, who was also out at the bar at times. He was pleasant. Anyways, he said the drier white greek wine that he liked best was the Retsina -- so I went with that and even had a couple more after that because I really liked it. Definitely a different type of flavor. It was strange literally no one else came in to eat besides my friend and I -- oh, and one to go order. So odd, where does Milwaukee disappear to on Monday nights?! Apparently this place gets nuts on Saturday nights, as they continue to serve until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays! Cray they are still serving food that late and also, good to know. The inside reminded me of the size of restaurants in NYC, small and compact. Which is fine with me! For my meal, I ordered the keftedes, spicy greek meatballs, and rice as a side. I liked that it came with lemon, that I made sure I was supposed to squeeze onto the meatballs (I've never done that before so was hesitant) but after I did, it was great! The meatballs did have a little kick, as described. The red tomato sauce on the rice was really flavorful on first bite, salty on the second bite, but since it's over white rice, that's why it needed the heavier salt and seasoning. More of the amazin tzatziki and pita came on the side, which it was great but it would be good for people ordering to know it is also going to come with the meal. I'd probably order a different appetizer than to get another side of it with my entree. So, maybe ask what is all going to come on your entree ahead of time if you want more of a variety. The service was great from the cook but the regular bartender/server was oddly intimidating and standoff-ish. And, I am not one to get intimidated easily, so for me to say that... anyway as mentioned we were the only customer and I don't think he wanted to be there serving us. Sorry? Should we leave? I'm not going to reflect it in my review because I think this place deserves some positivity for the other person who was more pleasant (even though I think it's cause he had the hots for my friend - so not sure if that was genuine, I'll give the benefit of the doubt) and the food. Anyway, the food tasted very good and I'd definitely come back to try more. Loved the greek white wine, Retsina.

Great gyros. Strongly recommend get fired onions opposed to raw. Can't go wrong with the beef souvlaki, best I've ever had.

Tre Rivali has a really stylish and modern atmosphere without feeling overly pretentious, and the menu is interesting enough to stand out from the typical hotel dining experience. The meat and cheese boards were probably one of the highlights for me -- generous, well put together, and fairly priced. I also tried the scallops with truffled parsnip cream, brown butter, hazelnut, and Brussels sprout leaves. The flavors worked really well together and the dish was beautifully prepared, although the portion itself was a bit small for the price. The cocktails were also solid. They clearly know how to make the classics properly, and both the Old Fashioned and Manhattan were well balanced and enjoyable. Service was friendly and professional throughout the evening, which made the experience even better. Overall, it's a really good option if you're staying nearby or looking for an upscale dinner spot in Milwaukee. A little pricey, but still worth checking out.

Another amazing hotel restaurant?…read more Listen. I know this is typically kind of an anomaly. I travel a lot and can attest many, many hotel restaurants are pretty ho-hum. But, I do think that Milwaukee may just be the exception here. And, certainly Tre Rivali, located inside the Journeyman Hotel, is absolutely the exception. Chic and modern with a menu that intrigues and cocktails that delight, I have had many wonderful experiences here. Their meat and cheese boards are epic and well priced. I've ordered and quite enjoyed their scallops that come served with truffled parsnip cream, brown butter, hazelnut, brussels sprout leaves. Divine. It's not a hearty dish, though, so if you tend toward a hearty appetite, I'd recommend a starter of some kind. Or, perhaps dessert? Their cocktails are all well made and they have a firm grasp on the classics (they make a mean classic old fashioned and Manhattan). The service is always lovely. Get to it!

We ordered the appetizer platter; which allowed us to choose three apps two try. My friend and I chose the falafel, grape leaves, and baba ghonush (which is served with 8 triangle pieces of pita bread). I got the kofte special wrap and my friend got the beef kebab wrap. Everything we got was amazing! The wrap was also nicely toasted on the outside, which gave it such an amazing texture. The combination of the char-grilled kofta with the vegetables inside was so good! Just thinking of it makes me want to go and grab another one. It was not dry and was honestly pretty filling. Very excited to go back and try other item!

It is a small family owned business, and mother cooks all the food. It's only been a month since they moved here from Layton, so they don't have a sign yet, but just go in to the Rayan super market, and navigate yourself to the back of the building. They do have a table off to the side inside the market if you're in a pinch and need to eat there, but I'd recommend taking the food to go. The family is friendly, and if you aren't too familiar with Mediterranean food, they will help you navigate their menu items. They have 2 types of rice. One is a smoked rice (first time I tried it, and it was good!), and the other one is cinnamon. I didn't care for the latter, but the smoked rice was delicious. I was only going to try a bite or two, but I ended up kicking myself off of keto and ate a whole bowl. Chicken special - with rice and salad Salad was a small portion of very fresh lettuce, tomato and cucumber in light oil dressing. Chicken was a bit dry for my taste. They did have the chicken in a warmer plate (like the buffet style) and it must have been sitting there a while. The flavors were good, but the dryness was disappointing. The menu says "half chicken", but we got 2 pieces of thigh+drum. In a way that's good, cuz any breast meat would have been so much more dry. Lamb special - with rice and salad We ordered the cinnamon rice for this dish and the smoked one for the chicken dish. Like I said, the smoked rice was better for my palate. The lamb was delicious. It was falling off the bones, but it wasn't dry. We got 3 large chunks of lamb with bone and one little piece boneless. In both plates, our server piled the rice so high! I hope they don't go out of business giving so much rice! But I'm not complaining. Overall, the meal was delicious and I would definitely go again. I'd love to try some of their appetizers and other meat items.

We've enjoyed "sip and paints" here, New Year's Eve, when they offered brunch with crepes, and frequented when they had their vegetarian lunch buffet. Unfortunately, things have changed. 1. Atmosphere The décor hasn't changed. Still sleek, dimly lit, and romantic. The bathroom water wasn't working, and staff seemed aware of it when we mentioned it. How is that sanitary or up to code? Several of the chairs brought to our table were also broken, with bent legs a clear safety issue. It's typically packed on a Saturday like a dance club but it was nearly empty on a Saturday night which may be a reflection of our experience. 2. Service Our waitress was kind and attentive despite handling a large group, but the busboy was unprofessional. He started clearing plates while people were still eating and even asked my husband to reach across the table to hand over other guests' dishes. It made us feel rushed, even though the place wasn't busy. 3. Food My chicken shawarma was greasy, hard, sour, and unseasoned, almost as if the meat had gone bad. The potato balls were cut open which I've never seen and underwhelming. My husband and son's wings were over fried and tough, the spinach artichoke dip was clumpy and poorly blended, and others said the lamb chops were "okay." Honestly, the best thing I ate that night was the pita bread. 4. Overall Experience This used to be our go to for birthdays, Brady Street drag show viewing, and happy hour, but it's gone downhill. Between the sanitation issues, broken furniture, food quality, and rushed service, it no longer feels like "our spot". SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.... Then we ordered the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs (comes with two pieces), Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushrooms, Cappelletti, Slow-braised Bison Cheek, Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish), and the Wood-fired Bavette Steak. Where do I begin? First off, everything was fantastic! Delicious, creative, and memorable. Some dishes even had us ordering seconds! First the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs: so creamy! We ended up ordering another plate of them (four orders) because one wasn't enough for the four of us. The Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushroom: insanely seasoned! It was crispy and the kick of the Thai chili peppers, made it our tables favorite (we ordered another plate of this)! The bits of crunch rice mixed in was also a pleasant surprise. The bits of green beans and cucumber was a nice way to cool the kick of the spices. The Slow-braised Bison Cheek: It was very interesting. Very soft and when paired with the polenta cake, mozzarella, and carrot, it tasted amazing. Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish): Also very interesting. It tastes very similar to a Vietnamese catfish soup! The pineapple fish sauce paired amazing with the glass noodles. The only complaint I have about this dish, was that the glass noodles weren't fully cooked, so they were a bit hard. The Wood-fired Bavette Steak: My god, this was amazing! It was perfectly cooked, the dark chocolate bordelaise paired with the mushrooms and steak was incredible. Like I said, everything was amazing!
