I have been meaning to write a review since family went to your Davenport location. The food was exceptional every thing we ordered was delicious. The atmosphere was inviting and friendly. But, the service was truly amazing. The first evening we were served with warmth, courtesy and efficiency. It was such a great experience that we were determined that we were returning before our vacation ended. Our second visit we were served by Brandon. His interaction with us has become a highlight of our trip. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and frankly hilarious. It took an amazing meal and elevated it to a highlight of our entire trip. I would and do recommend your restaurant not only because of the quality of the food but because of the exceptional experience your service staff provide. read more

On our way home from the park and looking for a new place to lunch. Good reviews and food sounds good. Stepping in your hit with an awesome bbq smell. Friendly folks and quick service. I got the BUFFALO CHICKEN SANDWICH. Pretty good. Added the spicy bbq sauce and kicked it up. A tad over cooked though Deb had a half rack of ribs. Good flavors. Loved their sauces. Pretty good food. I don't often leave a bad review but our experience last night was terrible. We chose to sit outside while ch was as fine but the tables and chairs were pretty beat up. It took a bit for our waitress to come over (oddly enough the other 2 tables seemed to have a different waitress). We ordered smoked wings as an app along w our meals. The wings came out after 20 or some min and weren't smoked, they were dehydrated.... Ok not off to a great start but we held out hope. My salad came out after another 45 minutes....this was after the waitress said she would check on it - it's a salad, what's to check on. After another 20 or so mins our entrees came. Ribs were over cooked & Mac &cheese was room temperature at best. Steak that was supposed to be medium rare was medium to well in some areas. Since we were starving and our waitress was MIA we ate what we could stomach then asked for the check as soon as the waitress appeared. Oh and the playlist - just terrible. A solid spot for a late-night dinner! The presentation of the dishes immediately stood out. Everything came out looking well-plated and appetizing, and fortunately, most the flavors lived up to the appearance. Service did start off on a slow note. We waited close to 20 minutes before being able to place any kind of order, which honestly had us considering leaving. However, once our order was in, things noticeably improved. The food came out in a timely manner, and our drinks were consistently refilled, which helped turn the experience around. The food itself was flavorful and satisfying, we ended up clearing most of our plates after a long day at SeaWorld. That said, there were a couple of downsides. Being charged extra for cheese on a burger felt unnecessary, and the baked mac and cheese (which is listed as a premium side) was underwhelming. It was pretty plain and lacking the richness you'd expect. Overall, the food was good and the experience improved as the night went on. I choose this place for Father's Day lunch. I mean who doesn't love a good barbecue spot? I took the time to read their entire background and that solidified my choice, even though it was gonna take me almost an hour to get there. Was it worth it? Yes. Solid yes. When you walk in, the intoxicating smell of a smoker goes right through you. Very good sign. The interior is very cozy and the staff is unbelievably hospitable. They hit the mark on everything. From food quality, to the cleanliness of their restrooms, to the outstanding service we received. Our server happened to be the bartender. He was taking a full section in the dining room while also tending to the bar guests and making drinks. My pops is pretty hard to please, but left full and happy with the desire to return for a future visit. Win win if you ask me! read more

It has a good tavern menu with a focus on barbecue. I won't say that it's the greatest barbecue I ever had, but I do like the assortment of spicy, sweet, and mustard sauces that are served in bottles along with it. The thing that distinguishes it from a barbecue restaurant is that there are a lot of other interesting items. My wife had a Caesar salad with Cajun shrimp on it that was outstanding. The seasoning on the shrimp was really authentic. The service was pleasant, and the interior is a good ambiance for a tavern, although the lighting is a bit painful. read more

Well I was hoping for some well service and food based on previous reviews, but was a little disappointing . We were sit fast and our order was taking fast , after that it just went downhill, food took about 25 min to get to our table , the potato skins were awesome but the ribs were overcooked , leaving a crunchy almost burn rib , with not moisture. We live in the area and just dined here for the first time this past Friday. The hostess was very personable and there was plenty of available seating. We chose to sit on the outdoor covered patio. We don't have a dog anymore, but it was nice to see that it was dog friendly. Our server Kaylee was a sweetheart and had great recommendations. The potato skins were a huge portion and so cheesy. This is a busy spot! They have outdoor patio seating available and they have a happy hour every day from 3-6 pm if you sit at the patio or bar. The patio is dog friendly FYI. We were seated right away and take care of quickly. I ordered the Spicy sweet salmon with a Caesar salad, garlic mashed potatoes and added an additional premium side of asparagus. My son got the kids cheeseburger. Both meals were delicious! My son approved of the burger! the Caesar salad felt like more of a wedge salad based on the size of the lettuce leaves and they were all clumped together. I had to cut into it (a first for me on a salad lol) but it was delicious and fresh. The salmon was tender and grilled to perfection. The mashed potatoes were very hot! I may have burned my tongue on them. They were a bit bland, so I drizzled some gold bbq sauce on them. The asparagus was huge and a bit tough on the ends. Overall a good meal! read more

This is a beautiful restaurant at the end of a strip mall and after leaving the Tampa RV Super Show we decided to find a bite to eat before heading home and this place definitely looked like what we were looking for. We arrived early afternoon (Saturday) and found the restaurant mostly empty and no one at the bar, so we grabbed a booth. Our server greeted us and passed out the menus and gave us a few suggestions which we appreciated, she returned with warm bread, butter and our beverages and we placed our order, we both decided on the burger and fries - they arrived after a few minutes cooked as we ordered but basically dropped off the food and disappeared without seeing if we needed anything else, I noticed they forgot the ketchup and mayonnaise we ordered on the side so after waiting a few more minutes I went to the bar and requested both again and refills - finally the condiments arrived but no refills on our beverages that were sitting on the edge of the table empty. I finally was able to get another servers attention and she took care of it. The burger was just okay as were the fries definitely nothing memorable or anything I'd order again we were hungry so we ate it all and requested our check. I felt the entire experience was over-priced and not a good value, I've noticed quite a few negative reviews from frequent customers in reference to the decline in service, maybe it's turn over, lack of training or lack of management I didn't notice a manager anywhere in sight during our visit unfortunately we probably would not return... read more

This was my first time coming to Ovation Bistro & Bar - my husband and I decided to drop in due to the extremely high ratings for the Davenport area, and had high hopes. I was a little disappointed that out of all of the empty tables, we were sat directly next to the front door entrance so any foot traffic would come directly behind me, but that's just being nitpicky. We mentioned that it was our first time here, and were hoping to get recommendations, and our waitress mentioned that the steak and brisket were specialties because of the cherry wood smoker. I ordered the 6oz sirloin medium rare, with garlic mashed potatoes as the side. You also get an option of salad as a side, however the waitress let me know that you could get an additional side instead, so I opted for green beans. Knowing that Ovation specializes in steak, I was extremely disappointed to learn that my medium rare steak was medium, bordering on medium-well. The seasoning was great on it, but I do wish that it had been cooked to the order. The garlic mashed potatoes were decent, and the green beans were AMAZING. Definitely the highlight of the dinner. I wanted to give this a 4 star rating, but unfortunately, despite it not being busy during our time there, it took 10 minutes after sitting down to get our drinks ordered, our waitress never checked on us throughout, and we were never offered refills for our drinks. I would be open to returning and trying something new, but I definitely want to try out other restaurants before I would consider coming back here. read more

I was really hopeful going into our first trip to Ovation Bistro & Bar in Davenport. The menu was right up my alley, the outdoor seating area looked great and the vibe seemed laid back. Unfortunately, our experience was subpar across the board. We were seated quickly at a table near the entrance but and spent a bit more than 10 minutes before our drink orders were taken. In the meantime, we got to enjoy the extremely dim overhead lights flickering into our faces. We asked our server for recommendations and she was very accommodating in suggesting the brisket and sirloin and to avoid the chicken. We happily obliged. My Brisket entree came with a salad and a side. My Caesar salad was interestingly served as a whole slab of salad rather than chopped or diced. Aside from being a little odd to cut it up myself, it was best thing I ate. My brisket and upgraded Lobster Mac and Cheese side arrived looking tasty but both were disappointing. The Brisket was quite dry and was fattier than I expected given the relatively small portion. The Lobster Mac was the real disappointment. The bread crumbs on to were burnt and the noodles were swimming in water that wasn't drained properly before being mixed with the cheese and the rest of the ingredients. The unfortunate icing on top was the lackluster service. We never were offered drink refills and it took quite a long time to both receive the check and have the waitress come to collect our payment. The restaurant was not crowded whatsoever, with maybe 4 tables seated inside and maybe 3-4 outside, so it seemed like we were just being ignored. I'm unsure if we'll go back anytime soon to give it another shot. read more

My wife and I came in for a small late dinner. Tyler was our server and he was awesome, he explained the entire menu, told us about specials and gave us time to choose. We decided to get a cesear salad full rack of ribs and a order of shrimp. The ribs were fantastic, you would of thought that this was a bbq place with how good they were and the shrimp were massive. This place has cool vibes, a big bar menu and alot of diversity in their menu. We will definitely be coming back to try some other things. read more

I used to come here often (at least once a week!) but the past four lunches have been disappointing. Decided to give it one more try ... disaster! My husband's salad was fine ~ my food wasn't (brisket was room temperature and the flat fries were soggy and only barely warm). Service was incredibly slow .... 20 minutes to place order, 35 minute to get food, and then nothing for 50 minutes. I can understand low staffing can produce slow/poor service, but this is intolerable. read more

This place looks casual but has the service and food of a 5 star restaurant. ALL the servers and runners were observant and cleared empty plates (apps, salad ect) immediately and very attentive to refills. We had several clear plates just as they were passing by. These were the nicest servers. Now to the food. Brussel sprout appetizer was amazing. Definitely enough to share. Even a non brussel sprout eater loved this. I had crab cakes and 2 huge sides as well as a salad. The crab cakes had real crab and not much filler. These were very good. The others in my party had filets and loaded sweet potato. The filets were tender and delicious. No room for desserts but next time we will try the carrot cake. Everything was wonderful. Food and service TOP NOTCH!! read more

what a pleasant surprise nobody knew of this restaurant meeting friends that were heading back to Sarasota when they left it to me to find a restaurant close to Hwy 4 so I got online and looked at 7 different places read there menus and after looking Ovation was my choice, we met tonite fora early dinner 5 of us Serve was impeccable from the moment we sat down service was there . the food was outstanding some had salmon with Asian sweet sauce some had Crab cakes and the others chicken and ribs. the salads were also outstanding the prices were vary fair. The restaurant has lots of choices for meat eaters and vegetarians. Just by checking in, I earned 5% off of the bill. That was appreciated for a party of twelve. Our server was nice. It was challenging having everyone's food hot when all the dishes were served at once. The French onion soup was good. The salads were large and tasty. We had a few communication issues with preferences (asking for dressing on the side and the salad arrived drenched in dressing) but everything got worked out. The pasta was enjoyed. The flatbread was decent. The baked macaroni and cheese was excellent, after I took it with me and heated it. Several people in our group had briskets. They were happy. I'm not a fan of smoked food, my husband is. He got the crab cakes and the ribs, he raved about both. I got the shrimp and grits to avoid the smoked meat, which was delicious but sat in a pool of fat which I didn't care for. My table mates loved the wedge Ceasar salad, for me the dressing was a little too pungent but I was in the minority, so it may just have been me. 2 visits in a week while visiting the Orlando area. The first was 8 golfers seeking meat. Favorites were the ribeye, the smoked prime rib and the tilapia. We asked for a booth and he sat us towards the back that had another little table with it that made it difficult to climb into the booth ,while 6 other booths were empty. We weren't sure what to expect but he came to the table in a great mood and gave extra effort to ensure we were completely taken care of. The food was excellent (great perfect margarita, Caesar salad and ribeye steak ). We ordered scallops on top of our steak and they gave us three instead of two. Atmosphere was sophisticated casual, and you felt like you should be paying more for the wait staff attention, food quality and overall dining experience. The smell of wood fired smoke enticed me to order ribs and chicken combo. Chicken was tough and tasteless. If it wasn't for the BBQ sauce on the ribs, they would have been just as tasteless as the chicken. Salad was good. This restaurant used to be one of my favorites when visiting the area. My wife ordered a salad with dressing on the side and it came swimming in dressing. Bathroom looked as if there had been a fight in there. Towel dispenser hanging sideways on the wall. The sink faucet was gutted and hard to operate. This place used to be so nice. Very disappointing. read more
