I've walked by this place many times when I've gone to The Source OC. It replaced the dragon balls dessert place and I feel it's a better fit for this place. They specialize in coffee and tea, waffles, and soft serve ice cream. I went in on a Thursday afternoon and it was quiet. I ordered the waffle and gelato in the original with a chocolate gelato. Because the place is short staffed, they also have signs up warning people that it might take a little longer to prepare the waffles. (5-10 minutes during a peak time.) I did get in before more people showed up and put their orders in. Thankfully it didn't take too long. The waffles are freshly made to order and they're crispy and not too sweet, which is perfect with the gelato. The chocolate gelato was smooth and has chunks of chocolate throughout it. It paired beautifully with the waffle. Definitely need a fork and knife to enjoy it. Staff were polite and service was pretty quick. I'd come back here again. read more

I came to Overflo excited to try their matcha soft serve, but honestly, the experience was pretty disappointing. When I went to order, the girl at the register started having a conversation with her coworker in the kitchen while taking my order. It wasn't busy, so she could have easily waited, which just felt unprofessional. I also asked if it was possible to do half matcha and half milk base, and she just said no without explaining that everything already has a milk base with matcha flavoring added. Since it was my first time there, a little explanation would've been nice. When I finally got the soft serve, the texture was more icy than creamy, which wasn't what I expected. As I was eating, I also noticed the place wasn't well maintained--it just felt dirty. Located on the first floor of the Source, Overflo has a variety of desserts from soft serve to different types of dessert waffles. We ordered the Oreo Nutella Offle Waffle and the Fresh Strawberry Soft Serve. The Oreo Nutella Offle Waffle was decent if you want something sweet and crunchy, but I wouldn't go out of my way for this. Size wise it was pretty large - somewhere around the size of my head. The strawberry soft serve however was delicious! They let me know when I ordered it would take around 15-20 minutes for it to be ready, and it actually did take that long. Looks like they were a bit short staffed esp since it was a busy weekend night. But it was totally worth the wait. The milk soft serve paired perfectly with the fresh strawberries and the layers of what tasted like freshly made strawberry syrup. All in all it was perfectly not-too-sweet and refreshing! read more

Overflo is located in The Source on the ground level by the rising stairs. It offers many desserts and drinks, like waffles, cakes, and ice cream. We came on a weekend to try the custard-filled pancake but they were out. Instead we got the regular Waffle (filled with whipped cream and maple syrup) and the Black Sea Salt soft serve ice cream in a cup. A sugar rush ensued. The waffle was extremely thin, and so there is disproportionately large amount of whipped cream and maple syrup. It is cute and good for photos, but tasted exactly as you might imagine. The Black Sea Salt soft serve was underwhelming. I expected some charcoal grittiness, but there was none (where does the black come from?) It was sweet and if blindfolded I would have thought it to be vanilla. Again nice for photos but underwhelming on the taste. We ordered the real milk soft serve, affogato, and strawberry nutella waffle to share amongst 3 girls. Real milk soft serve - 5/5 Loved this! The ice cream is really rich and creamy and not too sweet. Also a pretty big portion so you can definitely share this with 2 people. Affogato - 4/5 It's just the real milk ice cream with a shot of espresso. It's good, but I think getting the ice cream on its own is a better bang for your buck. Strawberry nutella waffle - 3/5 I wish the waffle was more crispy. It was cooked but I'm a crispy waffle fan and this wasn't the level of crispness I wanted. Good amount of filling. I was excited to try this new soft serve spot with my friends who have never been to the source. we ordered the black sea salt and matcha soft serve along with a strawberry nutella waffle. We popped in around 9:35, placed our order, and got our soft serve by 9:40. Our waffle took some time to come out, ended up being around 10:10. The waffle did not taste like it was prepared fresh, given the time it took to come out. It tasted worse than an Eggo....cold and dry. The whipped cream and strawberries didn't help mask away the old-tasting waffle. I almost forgot there was also nutella up in the mix which is tragic. What made the experience a tad worse was the worker came over to tell us they close at 10, so basically we should already have been out of their store. Mind you, the waffle came out way past 10. So weird. The staff was not friendly at all and seemed a bit annoyed when I went and asked if the waffle was still being prepared at 9:53 (given our soft serves came out by 9:40, with other orders coming out with no sign of the waffle) All in all, my experience here was not pleasant, and the staff seemed irritated by everyone. read more

Not ganna lie when my friends and I first saw this we thought of something... else... regarding flow... :)! But, turns out that this spot is pretty tasty food wise. I actually see more reviews about their soft serve but not much about their food so here's a review about their food. My fiancé loves the egg fried rice here because they put in a lot of seaweed and he enjoys that a lot. He says no where else serves fried rice with a lot of seaweed and this really makes the dish for him. As for me, I really enjoy the rose dish. It's really good. I sometimes wish there were more toppings and sausage but the texture of the thick glass noodle is so tasty. Fill it up to the brim please! :) I could eat this very often. It's so yummy. This place has a great vibe, with around 5 tables for indoor seating. The interior design is very neat and pleasing to the eye, and the floor and tables are clean and look relatively new. The menu is graphically designed very well and comprehensive and the staff is polite, as well. We ordered the icecream latte, matcha icecream with original waffle, and chocolate icecream with Oreo Nutella waffle. The icecream latte was okay, the icecream was good but it was just a regular coffee, with the end result (after the icecream melts or you mix it) is kind of bitter and not that good. The matcha waffle was good, but it isn't mind blowing. The waffle is freshly made and quite thick. The matcha icecream is great, but it's a pretty hearty dessert for my taste. I'd recommend trying a different flavor waffle so it's a little more fancy than just a waffle icecream sandwich. The chocolate waffle was quite good, and the Oreo Nutella waffle definitely added a little extra flavor. It took around 15 minutes to receive our order, but I didn't mind waiting since our order was pretty large. It seems that they made some other peoples orders before ours, but that was probably only because they were easier to make, or had less. I tried the soft serve first before I dunked my spoon into the affogato, and I thought the soft serve taste was very underwhelming. Whenever I go to the source I always come here for a quick bite or the tasty ale they have there. They have a variety of different kind of ale and they taste really good. I've ordered the kimchi fried rice, it's a small portion which is the downside but for the price of it, it's worth it. The service was quick and friendly, when I went it wasn't that busy. The injeolmi syrup was sweeter than I expected and honestly by the time you get to the part of the dessert actually in the cup, it's like eating 2/3 syrup and only 1/3 soft ice cream! The interior feels industrial but there are also random knick knacks around (they appear to sell jewelry, have claw machines and a mirror in the corner). The seating is a bit odd with a mix of chairs and crates to sit on. It seems like an interesting place, but we were just there briefly when we were told they were closing early, so we had to leave. Didn't wash her hands after touching the dirty mop. She was not welcoming at all, didn't even bother asking "What can i get for you? I think it was pretty solid considering that it's a grab and go type of place. This spot is in such a central and cute area in the Source, so my friend and I figured it must be good. I feel like I'm generally not a very picky person, especially when it comes to desserts, but ufortunately, Overflo fell short of our expectations. Their menu is pretty expansive, so we weren't sure what to get, but it seems like most people order the soft serve. We probably should have gone with that. My friend and I were feeling a bit adventurous so we got the Offle Waffle (strange name, no...?) and one of the brioche buns with gelato. The brioche-gelato concoction isn't horrible, but it is a bit offputting. The bread is savory, so it clashed with the gelato in the center, and it wasn't fluffy and light like we were expecting. The redeeming component was the mint chococolate cookie gelato. That was actually quite tasty. I hate to say this but the Offle Waffle was indeed awful. We tried to force ourselves to take a few more bites, but it was overall just a very weird combination of flavors and textures, and I truly wonder how this was even ideated. We got the oreo one and essentially, it's two flattened waffle cones with whipped cream, crushed oreo pieces, and maple syrup in between them. Such a strange combination that didn't work well. It also took like 20 minutes to come out and was cold and soggy by then. My friend and I love desserts, but we couldn't finish either of these. We were pretty shocked by our experneice because there was a decent line when we got there, so we were pretty excited initially.
