Service here is kind of slow. It's always busy inside whenever we come. They need to hire more people to work. It took me 10 minutes to order and another 25 minutes to get just Taiyaki. There are plenty of chairs and table to sit inside, but it's almost 85% full with people sitting and chatting while they eat Bingsu, Taiyaki, or drinking. They have assorted flavors for Bingsu, but I mostly see people ordering the strawberry one. As for their Taiyaki, I always order custard and Nutella. This time we tried the sweet potato and it's not really sweet potato, but artificial filling. I thought it would really be sweet potato inside so that's a bit disappointing. We got the taiyaki, and it was piping hot and fresh. The hotteok filling looked really good on the ad, so we got two of those, custard, and red bean. The hotteok taiyaki was amazing, 6/5. You get 5 for $12 which is great deal. I also got the misugaru latte, and that was so good too. The worker was nice, and he recommended that I get it with milk and not water, and I'm so glad I did! This was one of the few businesses that have been there since I first started visiting the Source (looking at pre-COVID days) that have remained until now. It's located on the first floor on the in between "halls". The times that I've gone there have been quite busy, very surprising for a place that used to be super dead, and even now with more businesses, I still see a good amount of people dining in for their bingsoo. Service is decently fast. There's seating inside and outside, but it's SUPER limited. You might have to take it to go and go into the food court seating area or to the lawn stairs area. Because of the number of customers, it weirdly gets warm inside and it can get messy and dirty. As expected of trash cans filling up, dessert melting and getting everywhere on the tables, etc. So just keep that in mind. I'm unfortunately super biased due to Sul and Beans and that's been my standard since it's the first and closest Korean shaved ice to me. For our visit we got the Melon Okbingsul. We got the cup size since this was more than enough to share with 3 people. All of the toppings are on top. It's cantaloup balls with condensed milk, vanilla ice cream and cheese cake bits and a raspberry. All the toppings are at the top, so with the limited amount of space, this might make it tough to evenly distribute things out without using a separate cup or spilling it over. It's literally smooth shaved ice that's being carried by the toppings all on top. It's no interspersed or that unique in comparison to other bingsoo I've had elsewhere. Better than just ok, Okbingsul is simply delightful! Every time I've visited this sweet dessert cafe, I've walked away pleased. Their shaved ice is delicious! Just the right touch for a hot summer day. Their portions are shareable, and they have mini paper cups available so that you can share amongst groups. Came here with a party of 7 yesterday. We ordered their match shaved ice, red bean shaved ice and taiyaki. Although I did not get to try their red bean flavor, I absolutely loved their green tea shaved ice and taiyaki. Highly recommend both. Their shaved ice is served with mochi, ice cream and whipped cream on top. SO good. Their tayaki comes with different fillings. I tried the Nutella flavor, and wow it was amazing! We had a great time enjoying some dessert at Okbingsul after dinner. This is a joint we return to often because it is that good. My family decided to visit the OC Source! It became a fun food tour of sorts. We ended our trip at Okbingsul to satiate our hunger for bingsoo! We ordered the matcha bingsoo - 8/10. We loved the icecream on the top which always enhances a Bingsoo experience! However, the tteok was not eaten with as much joy because it was hard and we can tell it came from cheaper packaging compared to other places like Sul & Beans. The menu features a good variety of different bingsoos and drinks. I think more people do come here for the bingsoo and tayakis. One Regular sized bingsoo is good enough to share with 3-4 people who have eaten a good meal beforehand. The interior has an okay amount of seating for 7-8 different groups of people. The taste and texture were completely wrong, just ice and sugar kind of like a cheap Sno-cone that was mushy, not refreshing as Bingsu should be. We were immediately told that they are only taking bingsu to go orders only because they close at 9. The person working there must have had a bad, long day, because of their expression and curtness. We ordered the strawberry and injeolmi bingsus. It took some time for the orders to be ready and while we waited inside the store, we started to feel very warm, which was surprising since it was cool outside. Then we noticed the thermostat is kept at 77! There was a note on the thermostat saying not to let the temp be set lower than 72. 77 is far from 72. Makes me wonder if they want it hot in there so their patrons food melt quickly... We got our orders and ate outside. They don't come with condensed milk, so I asked for some in the cup. The flavor was surprisingly bland, and the ice was just...ice? It wasn't creamy and the sweetness came from the toppings and the condensed milk we added. The toppings are layered throughout the bowl, which I appreciate, but the wateriness of the shave ice just takes away from the flavor of the toppings. The strawberries were completely frozen and difficult to eat. I think adding strawberry syrup to the dish would have helped add more flavor. The bingsu was also super hard in parts of it so there were chunks of ice throughout the bowls. Just save your calories (even if it's mostly water) and money and go somewhere else. First time here and absolutely loved it. I tried the green tea shaved ice and it had the right amount of sweetness. It wasnt drenched in condensed milk or anything like that. They actually layered the matcha too, which i really liked. First layer you see with the green is matcha, under that is ice, then under that its more matcha. The cream on top added a nice creaminess to it. I definitely prefer this over other kinds of shaved ice just because of the texture. Its soft and pretty much melts in your mouth!
