Ozzy's Apizza is a New Haven-style pizzeria that opened in Glendale, California in 2021. It was founded by friends and Connecticut natives Chris Wallace and Craig Taylor. After growing up in East Haven, Wallace relocated to the Los Angeles area for a change of pace to live with friends. Over the years there, he held jobs in security management and sales, worked for the fast-casual chain MOD Pizza and pursued a stand-up comedy career in Los Angeles. Taylor became friends with Wallace in college. He visited Wallace often before deciding to relocate to L.A. himself. When COVID hit, Wallace began experimenting with New Haven-style pies in his home kitchen. He and Taylor began to do a series of pizza pop-ups. Wallace named his pizzeria "Ozzy's" after his pet chihuahua. Before long, the business took off. A second location opened at East Rock Market in New Haven (CT) in August 2024. A new flagship location opened in North Hollywood in October 2024, the Glendale location relocated in October 2025, and a delivery kitchen opened in Beverly Hills in January 2026. My son and I recently had lunch at Ozzy's New Haven outpost at East Rock Market. I had heard a lot of great things about them since they opened. This location is run by co-owner Craig Taylor while Wallace runs things on the West Coast. After looking over the menu, my son and I decided to order and share "The Ozzarita" (fresh mozzarella made locally from Liuzzi, fresh basil, and housemade red sauce) and "The Mikey Rabbit" (housemade garlic ricotta cream sauce, freshly ground Italian sausage, baby spinach, pecorino, and mozzarella). Holy cow! These pies were excellent! Crispy crust with the perfect amount of New Haven char, excellent sauces, and very fresh tasting toppings! I washed everything down with some delicious Foxon Park Birch Beer. My son and I also had a nice time chatting with head chef and pizzaiolo Louis Matteo, who was very friendly. It was really cool watching him make the pies and then slide them in the rotating oven. I give Ozzy's my seal of approval! I'll definitely be back! read more

I've been a regular at the original in North Hollywood, so I was eager to check out the expansion in New Haven. When you come here for pizza, most people fall into camps based on a pilgrimage to the "Big 3" spots. Our family belongs to neither. We are an Ozzy's Apizza family. As a former Nutmegger and current Angeleno back in Connecticut for a visit, I was excited to see if this version stayed true to its origins and could hold its own in the New Haven scene. I'm happy to say it absolutely does. We started with the Philly cheese egg rolls, which were fantastic, the shell was perfectly crunchy and the inside was a warm, savory mix of meat and gooey cheese. I highly recommend those. Next, I ordered my old favorite, The White Rabbit. It has that perfect New Haven char with incredible dough flavor from the right amount of fermentation and hydration. The cheese they use adds a salty, almost umami depth that is hard to beat. Lastly, we tried their newest pie, the Hot Damn! It's a buffalo chicken-inspired pizza with that same great crust and a nice kick from the spicy sauce, and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Proud to say I've known owner Chris Wallace for a few years now and the energy he brings to all parts of his business is inspiring. He has welcomed me with open arms literally at all 4 of his locations he has had over the years. Mad kudos to this guy. Finally it was a pleasure to meet head Ozzy's chef Lou Matteo who is really firing on all cylinders bringing different flavors and takes to New Haven pizza. So excited for what he brings next. Perhaps something LA inspired like "Not Your Mother's CPK" Lastly my favorite thing is the Foxon Park soda. So good to wash this pizza down with! We were in New Haven doing some shopping and stuff around town and decided we wanted apizza for lunch. We took a swing by Modern Apizza, one of our favs. The line as LONG, so we bailed on that idea. Looking here on Yelp I saw the reviews for Ozzy's and we decided to give it a try. It was not a mistake. Ozzy's is a counter stand inside the East Rock Market. What I liked at first about it is that the selection of types of apizzas is broader than the standard menu at Modern, Frank Pepes and Sallys which all basically have the exact same menu. Ozzy's has some really interesting selections and of course you can do a custom if that is what you want. There are seats in the markets common area. But you can also go next door to East Rock Brewery, grab a beer, and eat your pizza. A plus. The staff is really quite friendly and nice and the owner was behind the counter when we were there. The pizza was quite good. The sauce was tasty, the toppings were in a good ratio. The pizza dough is quite good. It is cooked to a nice char on the edges, but could have used another minute or so to firm up the center, but that was not a major downfall. Both myself and my girlfriend love pizza and were impressed with Ozzy's. Ozzys is definitely worth the visit. We will be back. read more

Located in the East Rock Food Hall and it's an order and sit wherever is available. Pizzas were large and we had plenty of leftovers. As you can see our crusts was were very charred but other than the pizza good. The dining areas were not cleaned and thankful I brought wipes to wipe off the tables. read more

Went to ozzy's for pizza when we were at the brewery right next door. They have one size of pizza in addition to numerous difference toppings choice and other things. For 7 people we opted to get 3 pizzas and one breadsticks. We got one of the clam pizzas, one of the veggie pizzas, and the meat pizza. It was nice that they have buzzers that have range to the brewery and they let me know it would take about 25 minutes. The cafe area around it is nice though, spacious and airy, and there are several places to eat in that area. Pizza itself was good! My favorite was the clam! Good amount of salt, generous amounts of toppings, and well cooked. We were left with a bit less than a half a pizza at the end of it. Great place if you're in the area! read more

Doing the drive from NY to Boston - wanted to stop in New Haven for some apizz. We failed at Sally's, Pepe's, and Modern (crazy lines) and gave Ozzie's a shot. We got there just as they were closing, and it took a while for our pizza to be ready but it was COMPLETELY WORTH IT. Seriously one of the best pies I've had - crispy, thin, overdone, perfection. Ozzy's Apizza is a fantastic new addition to East rock market. Their flagship restaurant is in California and I know it caused even me an initial concern that somebody would be claiming apizza. We tried three different pies; The Mikey rabbit. Buffalo chicken, and pepperoni. The Mikey rabbit and the white rabbit are their fundraising pies currently to support the LA wildfire relief. All the pies were amazing. They focus on quality like creating their own cheese and making their own buffalo sauce and ricotta cream sauce. This may be one of the weirder reasons ever for ordering a pizza. I was on my way from Hartford County to an event in East Haven, and I needed to break a $50. LOL. That's not exactly the whole story. I like to try all the New Haven Ahbeetz spots and Ozzy's, located in East Rock Market, is probably the newest in the game. There's seating if you want to stay in the Market, You can also take your pizza next door to East Rock Beer. Or you can just take it out. I ordered a Zack Attack. Extra Sausage (ground Spicy Italian). Classic pizza Mozzarella. Red sauce. I had two slices as soon as the pizza cooled a bit. The crust was very thin, but held up pretty well on the crust fold flop test. There was some char in the crispy outer crust ring. The rest of the crust was relatively char-free, and a mix of crispy with a good slight chewiness. The cheese was melted well and married with the red sauce. The sauce got a bit lost among the other ingredients, but when I was able to isolate it, I could tell it was well executed. The crumbled sausage was tasty. The pizza was very good on Night 1. And I have to make a weird claim. At least this Ozzy's pizza, yielded some of the best leftover cold slices I can remember eating this year. The crust held up really well to refrigeration. The flavors stayed and relaxed. This makes Ozzy's a great grab and stash pizza in the colder months as you're doing things around New Haven. 4.5 Stars read more

A group of us were in New Haven and got hungry, so obviously we decided to go for pizza. Being a weekend night we knew to steer clear of Wooster and choose Ozzy's based on other reviews. So glad we did!! This spot is inside a "hall" type venue, with other spots in the same area. There was seating and a bar and dessert place 15 feet away. The guys at Ozzy's were great, friendly, chatty and after discussing we ordered a basic cheese and their specialty chicken pies. Decided to take them to the brewery next door to be enjoyed with a couple of local brews. Well worth checking out! read more

Ozzy's was great! The service was incredibly friendly, the pizza was delicious (as was the Caesar salad), and it's located in a complex with a few other shops and a beer garden. We were able to take our food to the beer garden to eat, but you're also able to eat at the restaurant. Very cute and clean. We'll definitely come back if we're in the area! read more

Ozzy's pizza was kind of ok. The crust had a nice char, but the undercarriage was floppy. However, the sauce was nicely seasoned, but with sweet notes. At first I thought the pizza tasted a little funny, but it turned out to be the sausage. Ozzy's uses a chorizo sausage blend, which completely changes the flavor dynamic of the pie, so, I experienced a spicy after taste that punched my palate. Unfortunately, Ozzy's isn't generous enough with the cheese, so that was disappointing. Overall, my assessment is this, it's not a bad pie, but the competition in New Haven CT is fierce. When going up against the big 6... Modern, Bar, Pepe's, Sally's, Zuppardi's and Dayton Street, a pizza place needs to bring their A-game, and I can't say that about Ozzy's. Pizza was delicious. The staff was friendly. The location was great as there was a lot of seating and the kids could run around without causing a problem. Opening an apizza place in New Haven takes guts. Ozzy's is in a food hall called East Rock Market (park on Nicoll St.- we had trouble finding it from GPS directions). There is outdoor seating on a parklet outside but we sat inside at tables that are shared with a coffee shop and a sushi restaurant (and a bar that might not be open yet). The person at the counter told us we had the option to eat there or take buzzers and go next door to the brewery. The best part of this apizza is the New Haven thin crust. It's made in a brick oven and has the authentic burned edges. It's best when it's fresh out of the oven-- that first bite when the cheese has just stopped bubbling is fantastic. Another reviewer mentioned the sauce was too in-your-face: the sauce on the pizza I ate was applied sparingly which gave it the right amount of tomato acid, not too much. The only thing I would change is the mozzarella: I wanted it to taste fresher. With our pizza, we had locally made soda (birch beer-yum) and locallly baked cookies from Cookie39 which is also in New Haven. The pizza at Ozzy's is well done in Modern language just FYI and that's how I usually like it. I really want to like Ozzy's, but I just didn't think it was very good. The crust is pretty decent, but the sauce is overwhelming with oregano. It tastes like Elio's frozen pizza. It's hard to comment on anything about the pizza because the sauce was just so overwhelming, I couldn't taste much else. The staff were friendly, but the East Rock Market space continues to feel very empty. There was no one at the bar and the sushi counter is now vacant. I hoped Ozzy's would be the spot to liven it all up, but I don't think their pizza is going to attract much attention with so many heavy hitters in the area (e.g., Atticus, Modern, Next Door, all within walking distance). read more

We were fortunate enough to stumble into the grand opening weekend of Ozzy's Apizza Sunday night. We'd traveled from Vermont earlier in the day and were weighing our New Haven dining options--friends and family had weighed in with their favorite apizza joints in the area, but Ozzy's caught our eye mainly since we, like owner Chris Wallace, have a pup by the same name (yes, we laughed, we also call him "Ozzy Pawsborn" in homage to Black Sabbath... but I digress). Admittedly, this was our first New Haven apizza experience, so we ordered both a cheese and a Mikey Rabbit to compare and contrast two different pies. The crew at the counter were so genial and friendly and guided us toward the second pie (which had been the one I was eyeing anyway), saying they'd all eaten it earlier for dinner themselves. We headed over to the East Rock Brewery with our dinner and were blown away with both pies, but especially the Mikey Rabbit--the ricotta cream provided a rich, buttery base, the sausage was perfection, and the spinach was to die for. Chris came over and checked on us; he *may* have referred to the pie as their "secret weapon" and I completely agree. We joked that our dog Ozzy always loves to get our pizza crusts, but there was no way we would have shared these with him--it was too damn good. It was a memorable evening out, and I wish we didn't live so far away! So glad fate led us to Ozzy's Apizza--through a harrowing thunder storm, I might add--and we wish them much success in their new venture. read more

Greasy pizza that is not on par for New Haven. Maybe this passes as good pizza in LA, and maybe it satisfies the drunk munchies after you have been at East Rock Brewery for a few hours, but this is not pizza to write home about.
