I grew up in the area. Red Tomato was my favorite my whole childhood, but it eventually got taken over by some new owners who cut corners and stopped putting out an A+ product. I found Grand Apizza a few years back and it immediately moved to my first spot. This place is authentic and excellent. Good ingredients, good technique. They do the craft proud. Now, every time I'm in the area I get a couple of pizzas from them for the fam. It's fantastic stuff. read more

Wonderful service, great pizza crust, meatballs, super fresh. The Guildford location is our slight favorite: the women staff are awe-inspiriting! We are always greeted warmly, and the pizza seems a notch finer: the cheese seems higher quality. Not sure if all Grand Apizzas use the same providers. The window seat is our go go spot. I was on a long road trip home and stopped here to get some lunch (only about 7 minutes off the highway). I called in about 10 minutes before getting there and the pizza was ready for me when I walked in the door. The staff was very efficient and kind-- definitely felt like a local gem! And the pizza was delicious too (even on the highway). I would definitely stop here again if I'm passing by! read more

We had lunch here today, we were a party of 13. Mostly everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. The cheese pizza was a hit! I had the small meatball calzone which was huge, took home plenty of leftovers. My daughter had the penne a la vodka with a meatball which was also delicious. The people who had the chicken marsala said that it was bland. The service was great! There is limited seating, it appears that most of their business is for takeout. read more

Longest wait for a Large Pizza that I can remember (50 minutes), then when I got home I found that is was someone else's Large Pizza. I usually give places a second chance, but this one I probably won't. Too many other options in the area. read more

Never been here before, but decided to give it a try. The pizza was very good, definitely better than most other local places around the area. The pizza had a decent flavor. I ordered a margarita pizza and there were plenty of tomatoes and at least a decent amount of basil on it. (my wife thinks I make a better margarita pizza)... The staff were extremely friendly and pleasant. They were also very efficient and right on time with the calculation of the time needed for the order. After a few years in Washington state where people thought Dominoes was pizza it was heaven to come home. Grand is our regular spot. Pizzas super and the staff is even better, always a smile and hi no matter how rushed or busy they are. Convenient and great service read more

The Italian food and pizza at Grand Apizza in Guilford is very good .?The service and ambience is wonderful. They, however, want a dollar if you want grated cheese. Never heard of an Italian restaurant doing something like that. read more

I ordered pizzas togo for my family, and they were running a SuperBowl special. There seemed to be an error on the website, because the deal was live earlier than it was supposed to be, and they called to confirm when I wanted the pizzas and honored the sale. Considering we live in an area full of pizza and Italian joint, there never is a shortage of new spots to check out. My BF and I recently got take out from Grand Apizza for our weekly Sunday pizza and lounge day. We started with garlic bread which was great! But they asked if we wanted half or whole and my BF ordered a whole which was huge. We also had their fried mozz block which was good. My BF enjoyed his cheese pizza and I had a bacon mushroom which was great and you could tell they precook their bacon which is most important. We both said this place was a solid and reminds us of our regular local spot. We will be sure to order here again. read more

Ordered takeout from Grand Apizza as our regular spot was closed Sundays. It turned out to be a great alternative! Awesome thin crust New Haven style pizza. The crust was a little more charred than I'm used to, even for New Haven, but the pizzas overall were tasty. We ordered a few different ones for a family party and tried a bit of everything. My favorite was the Margherita pizza covered with tomato and basil and super garlic-y! read more

Ordered an eggplant Ricotta and a BBQ chicken with onions and bacon and an order of garlic bread. Only thing that was correct was the eggplant ricotta however it was overcooked. I ended up with a White Onion and Bacon pizza with no bbq chicken. This one was also overdone. The garlic bread looked like it was thrown around and smashed together. When I called about the pizza missing the BBQ chicken they told me I could return which wasn't possible as I live 30 mins away. I was told they would take money off the charge however as of today that has not happened. When we went to pick it up there were other unsatisfied customers waiting. Just ordered take-out. Unfortunately the worst pizza I've had in years. Basil was dried flakes. No garlic even though ordered "extra". Crust did not have any taste and a cardboard consistency. Can never get enough of this pizza, I find it better than Pepes and you don't have to go through the hassle of driving down Wooster street. The pies are decently priced and always cooked to perfection. My dog goes crazy every time we order pizza. Definitely our go to pizza place. read more

2/3 items ordered were incorrect. When I called to explain the issue, I spoke with an incredible rude, defensive manager who refused to accept the possibility that the kitchen made a mistake. I frequent the Guilford and Madison locations. Excellent pizza, perfect pasta, and the best side salad around. Waitstaff is overworked but super friendly. Large portions usually result in a to-go for the leftovers. A star off for the garlic bread. The restaurant space could use some TLC. I ignore it and will keep coming back. The Madison space is newer, same menu, awesome waitstaff. Either place is a winner. read more

Sorry for the negative review. Even if your food is good, you cant treat customers like crap. Placed an online order, got a text update saying it was delayed, and then showed up and was told a few more mins. No problem - i stepped out for a phone call. 20 mins later was told 6 more mins. Unfortunately i had to abandon my order to go attend to life - a small child needing to be picked up. The lady at the register says "you have to call the online company for a refund." And when i call, they say "the restaurant didnt authorize a refund because you couldnt wait 6 minutes!" This was 1.5 hours after an order for a stuffed bread and a salad! Yikes. Sorry but that isnt a great way to treat anyone. I wont be back, and you should consider alternatives- their food is a dime a dozen in these parts. read more

Just had a pizza delivered that was perfect! Hot, crust was crunchy- absolutely delicious. Delivery guy was very nice too!

My kids and I have been here I can't tell you how many times and we've never been disappointed. Definitely our takeout pizza of choice in the area as well. The service is always good and reliable and though takeout naturally gets very busy Fri nights, we've never waited too long or got a sub-par pizza, which BTW is the best in the area. It's always nice to go in and sit down as well, and enjoy pizza and salad with a ball game on the TV with which the staff is always happy to accommodate our request. White clam, white broccoli, mashed potato bacon and of course plain are fantastic! read more

This place is amazing. My family and I come here every time we are in the area. We start out with the best garlic bread with cheese you will ever have. Grab some takeout here and the food was really good. The pizza was flavorful and the calzone was huge and loaded with the sausage and spinach it was ordered with. The steak and pepper grinder was pretty packed with steak and was very good. The one problem with them is the nickel and diming. Asked for ketchup for the grinder when picking up and the woman in the kitchen made sure to yell out "make sure you charge them 50 cents for that ketchup." Seriously? I just spent $40 bucks for food and you can't give me some ketchup? read more

Love Grand Apizza!! I saw that I started this review and never finished it and posted it. So when I lived in Clinton this is the only one we ordered from the Clinton location. When I moved to Branford in August 2018 I didn't know really where to order from so I ordered from Guilford Best homemade meatballs around they literally like melt in your mouth fall apart. So love their meatball parmesan heroes/sub/brinders I know everybody names them something differently and excellent pizza and they even delivered to where I live in Branford. Of course there's other places I eat now since it's been quite a while but I still order from them plus my sister lives in Guilford so when we're at her way and have pizza there this is our go-to for there and my appearance we use that location since I believe they're pretty much all owned by the same people. read more

I love this pizza! I often order the broccoli rabe pizza, pepperoni pizza, or the broccoli rabe with pasta. Wonderful! I love that they use fresh - and not that fake or jarred garlic. I have tried their rice balls as well and they tasted very traditional. Their sauce is authentic and tasty. I love that they are on Slice and deliver. This pizza hands down is the best in New Haven- yes I'm including downtown New Haven! We order it ( way too many times per week lol) and it's always consistent. I'll start off by saying I haven't been here, but my experience was five star. There was a death in the family and I wasn't able to make it home since I live out of state. I called Grand on a recommendation of a friend (who frequents the place and raves about the food) to make a delivery of food to everyone back home. Even though the delivery location was well outside their delivery radius, they had no problem helping me out. Pizza shops in Guilford, a town close enough to New Haven where you'd think we'd be able to learn a thing or two, come and go. Every time one opens their doors, I tell myself that this is truly the last time. Then another opens, and they pull me back in. This time, however, it's for good. Grand Apizza satiated my appetite *and* brought me back to my childhood with their broccoli rabe and sausage sub. Biting into the oiled, crunchy and chewy baguette was straight out of Ratatouille: explosions of flavor burst around me as I saw flashes of my tiny self, twirling the sinewy greens around my fork before stabbing a slice of seasoned sausage. Every bit of this sub was a moment, unraveling with just enough smoke and salt that my palette was salivating over its exquisite flavors. The combination of perfectly toasted baguette, tender yet chewy sausage and oily bite from the broccoli rabe was a ceremonious love triangle formed out of an understanding of ingredients and a love for cooking.
