8 Thousand Pizza is a pizzeria and pour-your-own taproom that opened in Milford, Connecticut in November 2023. It was founded by restaurateurs Skye Kwok and Tommy Nguyen. Kwok has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Some of the other restaurants he has opened include Sweet Basil in Fairfield, Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Cafe in Westport, and Eat Noodle in Bridgeport. Kwok and Nguyen's latest venture opened at the Connecticut Post Mall in a restaurant space that was previously home to Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar, which specialized in tavern-style pizzas cooked in a cast-iron skillet. 8 Thousand Pizza offers this same style of pizza, but what sets them apart from the previous pizzeria is that they also offer self-pouring technology, which became legalized in Connecticut in 2021. The food menu features two dozen tavern-style pizzas as well as burgers, wings, fries, salads and soups. Through the use of a supplied electronic bracelet, customers can self-pour their own beverage from a selection of 28 craft beer taps and 6 wine taps. There's a two-pint or 32-ounce limit for the self-pours. I recently visited 8 Thousand Pizza for dinner. I had previously visited the space when it was Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar and was sad to hear that they moved. However, this new business concept of a tavern-style pizzeria with self-pouring taps sounded very interesting to me. This was actually my first visit to a self-pouring taproom, as these types of establishments only just began opening in the state in the last few years. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Grandma's Tomato Pizza" (fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted garlic, tomatoes and EVOO) and the "Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza" (tomato sauce, pepperoni, hot honey sauce and mozzarella cheese). The latter happens to be 8 Thousand's signature pizza. Both pizzas had crust so thin that it's almost cracker like; they didn't flop at all. They were super crispy with excellent sauce and toppings. I honestly can't decide which one I liked better; they were both very good. During my visit, I enjoyed some self-pours of Grey Sail Brewing's "Captain's Daughter" (Double New England IPA) and New Park Brewing's "Cloudscape" (American IPA). Delicious pizza with craft beer is always an excellent pairing! I had a really nice experience at 8 Thousand Pizza and I hope to return with my family. read more

Took the Family here for a Saturday lunch. Got a meatball pizza and a margarita pizza. Both were made well. The beer system is interesting and you pour your own beer. Paying by the ounce. Service was nice and attentive. But you have to go up to the counter to order. Many of the betas were out or empty. I did like that. They had a wide selection of glasses available for the different styles of beer. read more

This place is definitely a vibe. First time coming to an establishment like this where you can pour/taste test different wines/beers or whatever else is on tap. Came to town for work. Happened upon this place since it's a mile from our training location. I asked the locals where the best wings and pizza were and they did not disappoint! I ordered the honey hot pepperoni pizza with mushrooms and hot oil wings. I loved the wings so much that I ordered buffalo the next day! They are pretty genius the way they pack the to go wings. Instead of formal packaging- they keep the wings crispy by packing them with paper plates to let them cool without making the skin moist and soggy. The pizza was delicious and different. Thin. Funnel cake-tasting and slightly sweet. A refreshing change from the Greek pizza I know and love!! A must experience! As far as the restaurant itself goes... It definitely had an awesome vibe to it and I wish that I would have tried eating in. Everything is so clean and shiny! And I love that they have an epic beer tasting experience. 8 Thousand Pizza is a great spot if you're looking for a casual (but not fast food) pizza place. We split two pizzas for three people - a pepperoni pizza and a mushroom and roasted garlic pizza - and it was just the right amount. After ordering at the counter and getting some self-service drinks, our pizzas arrived quickly. They were hot and fresh with crispy thin crusts, and we really liked them. Prices were reasonable, and since the pizzas came in their own boxes, it would be easy to carry out any leftovers. Service was friendly and helpful with our ingredient questions. I love this place. I don't understand why it doesn't get more love. The pizza is excellent, and the smaller sizes means everyone gets what they want. The beer selection is pretty wide... and self serve means you get to try a ton of new beers, and settle on what you want and how much you want. The owner is friendly and personable, and makes us feel welcome every time we come by. They are very accommodating of groups. This has become my go-to when my daughter's marching band needs a hangout, or I need to hold a business lunch. Try the hot oil wings... without exaggeration, the best wings I've ever had. And the dessert pizza is a unique concept, that we tried on a whim, but now order without fail. Also, the normal chicken noodle soup... honestly the best I've ever had. Go here. The service / staff are very friendly and patient as they explain the ordering/payment system, and I appreciate being able to sample a variety of beers without filling up too quickly. So glad this opened up at the mall! The owner is amazing so hilarious, gave us a free pizza to try and while it's not traditional pizza it's still very good. Tastes like fried dough. The main appeal of this place is the self pour beer taps. The have a great selection of beers including several local beers, if you wanted to you could try all of them which is amazing. So many times I've ordered a drink or beer I didn't like, with the way things work here you could take a sip of each selection before you commit. The concept of an Asian-inspired pizza menu may seem off-putting, but hear me out, people, hear me out: *unlimited, self-serve beer tasting*. Do you see the attached photo? This is the wristband that I got in exchange for letting them scan my credit card and driver's license at the register. In return, I can use that wristband to pour as little or as much, as many times as I want to, from this sumptuous row of taps. You get charged by the ounce, rather than by the glass. this means you can conceivably try every single beer, without inducing alcohol poisoning or bankruptcy. It was my first time there for the happy hour special. I got there before my friends got there. So I ordered for them and me. The gentleman did not tell me about the "happy hour special "My friend on the phone had to remind the gentleman. It's all good, I had to keep asking how things work here, and the guy did explain how it all works. The wings are big and very tasty. I got 2 orders of BBQ and hot wings. We've been needing a great place to relax and have beers and pizza in the Milford area! They have at least 10 tvs for football viewing and we absolutely loved the self service alcohol, it's so fun and cool to try a little bit of everything first. Holy crap. I went here with my boyfriend on a whim because we were both hungry and he had wanted to try it out for a while. We were blown away!!!! It started out with the owner, Skye, being extremely personable and wanting to make sure that if we were returners he remembered us. The restaurant itself was insanely cool, with a phone booth, vintage decor, and general awesome vibe. This pizza was no lie, the best pizza I've ever had in my life. Perfect thickness, the cheese was beautifully melted, and you could tell it was made with fresh ingredients. Usually I'm not this passionate about food but I almost want to go back daily. This will be our new date night spot and I will recommend it to everyone. Seriously, eat at this place!!!!! First the Pizza: they are 12 inches which is enough for two people unless they are big eaters or very hungry. It's thin crust, we had 1 cheese and 1 pepperoni and we thought it was very good...better than we expected and very reasonably priced. We had Bbq wings as well and it's a big meaty wing! Some of the best wings around. The Beer: pour your own is a new concept to me. I like it! You pay by the ounce and have a wristband with a sensor in it to activate the tap. The benefit is you can get as little or as much of any beer you want. No longer do you need a full 12 or 16 ounces of one beer. The prices per once ranged from 30 cents to about 55 cents for a higher alcohol beer. I wish they had less IPA's and more dark beers to choose from. There is also wine and a pre made cocktail by the ounce as well. Service: you order your food at the counter, get your wristband for beer and seat yourself get your food at the counter and bus your own tables. The staff was very friendly and informative.
