A mere reflection of it's former glory. Chang's used to be a top dog. Now they're just a woofer. I get the impression of too many corners cut, too many once strong traditions of service let slide in the name of cost-cutting. A once-perfect formula is now a cliched shadow of its former self. If it wasn't for the fact that I was with friends, I would most likely never step in here. I'm Chinese and would prefer the cheaper, authentic dish. That said, PF Chang's wasn't too bad at all. This is, by all means, an Americanized rendition of Chinese dishes. However, some dishes come pretty close to the real deal. Our waitress, Becky, was one of the friendliest I've ever met. She made conversation with us, took our food alteration requests into account, and checked up on us frequently without being bothersome. The one thing I can say about here is that they make sure you won't inadvertently go into anaphylactic shock - any question we asked about the food was answered and followed up with "do you have any allergies?" The decor is well enough - low-lit with red and black undertones. It's loud here; the tables are fairly close together with many groups during prime dinner time. E. ordered a lettuce wrap to start us all off. This was the most authentic dish of the night. Ground meat, fried rice vermicelli and chopped mushrooms and tofu are spooned onto fresh lettuce and then wrapped up. You can additionally add some of the sauce they mix up for you when you're seated (soy sauce, red chili and Chinese mustard). The sauce is the only place where this dish deviates; hoisin is usually used. Other than that, this dish was pretty good. E. also ordered the Dan Dan noodles; chopped meat in a sauce over hot egg noodles with bean sprouts and cucumber to the side. She opted for the chicken version. Not like the actual dan dan mein, but pretty yummy. The guy who brought over our dishes mistakenly gave E. lo mein, which none of us had ordered, but he gave it to her anyways (for free) and went back to get the correct dish. J. had the kung pao chicken, which tasted pretty alright. I'm still not sure what kung pao chicken is or what it's supposed to taste like, so yeah. I ordered the Singapore Street Noodles, which turned out to be rice vermicelli tossed with some veggies in a curry-based sauce. The waitress kindly took into account that I didn't like bean sprouts and that I wanted my noodles spicy (on the menu, they're listed as non-spicy). The noodles were pretty good, but they leaned a little towards too salty. I'm going to guess it's due to whatever sauce they added to make my noodles spicy and forgot to take that into account. There was definitely enough heat though. :) I also ordered the Dragon oolong tea, which is black oolong with a hint of peach and mango. It was something new to try, and it was the only black tea they had. The tea (which was definitely hot enough, yay!) came as looseleaf in a screened teabag in a REALLY HEAVY pot. It was a nice ornate pot, but dammit, it was heavy. I'll never trek back to PF Chang's on my lonesome, but it's not a terrible place to go if you're with some friends. read more

We had an AMAZING experience. I went with my wife and another couple for valentine's day (yes...I'm late in giving my review) but it was an amazing experience. We made reservations online. Got there and only waited a few minutes for our table to be prepared. The service was excellent. The food was amazing (we each did the dinner for two) and even the mini desserts were great. My wife & I loved it as did the couple with us. We can't wait to go back. *****add-on review...My wife went just a couple of weeks ago with a girlfriend of hers for a late lunch early dinner and wasn't as impressed. The service was mediocre and they didn't get the tea and some of the extras. She enjoyed it but wasn't as excited about her experience as we were when we first went for Valentine's day. We've made it a tradition to come here every birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc. only because it was the closest one to where we lived. Every single time we've been there, there's always been something (or someone) that's made our whole evening unenjoyable. Last Father's Day we showed up without a reservation, we walked in with a party of 5 including a baby so we just put it as a party of 6 and in the special requirements we put high chair. When we showed up there wasn't a high chair at the table. After we put it in the special requirements. When the hostess sat us at the table, she didn't say anything about a high chair. So we had the baby in her stroller because there wasn't a place to have her sit. Then the hostess comes back over and tells us that we can't have the stroller by the table because it's a fire hazard and she just walks away, not even offering a high chair. Eventually the server offered us a high chair but what the hell? Today we were here for a birthday dinner. We didn't have high hopes but again, we made it a tradition and all the times we've been there the food has been pretty good. We made our reservation for 6 people and a high chair, when the hostess took us to our table it was set with 5 seats and a high chair. So I asked the hostess for an extra chair and she said that that's not how we set our reservation for and she'd see what we could do. Meanwhile, my dad took the baby and went to change the baby in the men's restroom. There wasn't a baby changing table in the men's restroom. If there was a single dad who came in to eat with a baby, what's he supposed to do? It's just not right. So my mom went to change the baby instead and pulled a chair over to the table before she left. When she got back, the hostess pulled her aside and told her that it was a fire hazard (same hostess as before) and then said that she'd have to pull over another table to our table in order for it to be okay. We said no and that we had enough room but she pulled one over anyways. What was the point in asking if she was going to do it anyways? We ordered our drinks, a beer, 2 diets, 1 water, 1 coke and an iced tea. She arrived with the drinks but no class for the beer. We asked for a glass and she came back with a glass straight out of the dishwasher with steam still on it. You could at least wipe it down. We got our appetizers and the one beer at the table started to get low so we asked for another. She told us that she'd bring another in 2 minutes so we waited patiently. 15 minutes later she finally brought it. After she took away our appetizer plates and brought another beer to our table we tried to put in an entree order. She told us she'd be right with us in a few minutes because she was busy. We looked around and there were barely any tables so we said that it wasn't very busy. She then told us that she had a few tables along the wall and two 6 tops. We let it go and waited for her to come back. In the meantime she took more tables while we were still waiting. Once she finally took our entree orders, a member in our party went to the men's restroom and was disgusted. The bathroom was disgusting, there was pee on the floor and no towels to wipe your hands. He came back and we got our entrees after a long wait and had to ask multiple times for drink refills and a fork because we weren't given one before and didn't get them until 20 minutes after. The building was also very very humid. The baby was sweating and everyone else in our party was hot. Every single table that wasn't in use was either covered in dirty dishes from other parties or was just dirty. There was also trash all over the floors. I do not recommend coming here unless you like dirty atmosphere, stuck up hostesses, servers who don't do their jobs well, not getting drink refills or not getting your food until 20 minutes after you asked. Very disappointed, will not come here again. p.s. We own multiple restaurants and we're very disappointed. The food is amazing but the management and hostesses were just horrible. The hostess with the high ponytail was bragging about a 1 hour waiting time when the whole place was basically empty. Do not recommend! read more

Went here for dinner with a friend. Let me start by saying my time with him was the best part of the visit -- his doing! It was my first visit and on a late Thursday afternoon. I would characterize it as 'upscale MacAsian'. The ambience was over the top as were I considered the prices for the portions. The low points: - Service - slow, seemed somewhere between dismissive and annoyed. It was NOT busy, we were one of about 8 tables and definitely not a half they maintenance pair. Felt we were rushed. - Their 'stellar' egg drop soup was indeed velvety, it otherwise completely lacking in any flavor, despite containing herbs. The high points: - The pan fried pork dumplings were indeed as delicious as other described. - Mongolian Beef, I've never had anyplace before, so am not a fair judge, but this dish, despite being pounded thinly, was surprisingly tender and flavorful. Would I return, perhaps, but not a top choice. If looking for mall chain restaurant food the Standard or BRAVO Cucina are far superior. read more

When asked if they could turn it down they said no but "everyone complains"?! So listen to your dam customers and turn it down and put a better eating style of music . It's been a while since I could give a great review about service and this time I'm going to rave! We hadn't planned to eat here and I won't get into why we ended up here but we did. Being vegan it is incredibly difficult to find even side dishes let alone an entire meal that doesn't contain animal products and tastes good along with service that doesn't include eye rolls, so going out is limited these days. We didn't expect to be seated right away during dinner rush on a Friday but we were. Our server was Kelsey. She started to go through specials ect and we asked her about a few dishes labeled vegetarian. (Oddly they contain fish byproduct so heads up they are meat free but not vegetarian ) I finally just said "we are vegan, anything without fish or chicken stock? Can we just get something steamed we aren't trying to be a pain just need to eat and didn't expect it" she went in the back and came out with a solution and a sauce that was fish, chicken every other animal and sugar free! She said the old manager was vegan so she gets it. There wasn't an option on the kids menu for our son so she added "extras" to our dishes to make one for him. We all had Buddha's feast and just writing this review has me craving the fresh perfectly steamed giant size veggies and brown rice that was cooked so well, no trace of mush or stickiness. All 3 of us ate until more than full and had enough left overs for all of us to have lunch. Kelsey was attentive but not overbearing. She was so supportive and understanding. The icing on the cake as they say, our bill was only $32.40 after tax! The restaurant is clean, all of the staff friendly and the lights are low. Booths are curved giving privacy and intimacy. Be very careful when you order your entree. Don't order anything that seems experimental. You might get something edible. But, most likely you will get a gross abomination that you will dread taking the next bite out of. Love the feel of the place. Been going since they opened. A lot has changed. Food just isn't as good - there's no stand-out flavors or tastes. Service also tends to be hit or miss, including forgetting or misordering plates and drinks. First I need to say I've been visiting PF Chang's in more than six cities over the last 10 years, and this experience was the absolute worst one and I see no need to ever visit ANY Of their restaurants moving forward. The new PF Chang simplified menu was a joke. Most of the good options like Curry dishes were all gone but yet it seems like they expanded their liquor menu to be two pages long. The best part of the meal was the Dragon Eye Oolong tea, Crispy Green Beans and Vegetarian Spring Rolls. Everything else was just an abomination and awful. Handmade Shrimp Dumplings were dry and even though we asked for steamed they looked pan fried fried on the bottom. Changs Chicken, Sauteed Spicy Eggplant and Ma Po Tofu were all incredibly salty and the heat/spice which I should have tasted in Eggplant and Tofu were not there. JUST SALT should have been the name of all these dishes. Service was barely any better. We asked for water and it took almost a 1/2 hr and a repeat request before we saw any water. Forget about any refills and checking back to see if we wanted anything else. Same with our second pot of tea (multiple requests) which part of tea water ended up on the floor by the table. For $100, this was the biggest waste of $$$. My Recommendation is eat at the Plum Blossom in Try, NY If you want truly good Asian cooking and a full menu. My wife and I used to love the food here. As an author I have been around the country a few times on book tour. And I always looked forward to eating at a PF Chang. But something in their menu has radically shifted. The Kung Pao chicken isn't anything close to an authentic dish but is now more like a deep fried Happy Meal sautéed in soy sauce. Must be some corporate VP adjusting the menus to make this place be more like TGIF and not realizing that people actually come here for Chinese food. The staff is always nice and accommodating but the last two times we've been here we sent back half the meal. Lovely staff just a menu that feels like was cobbled together in some corporate board room with little awareness of authentic Chinese cuisine. So disappointed in the last few times I've been here. The menu changed and for the worst! We are not from the area and so when we do travel up here for the weekend, we tend to indulge and order several dishes. Always enjoyed it up until a couple of years ago. I ordered the Chang's spicy chicken. And it turned out to be breaded deep fried chicken covered in sauce... yuck!!! The Kung Pao chicken is also breaded deep fried chicken covered in sauce. What in the world is going on here? Basically serving over priced chicken tenders chicken tenders covered in thick gooey sauces. The staff is super nice and tried to helpful. I feel as though PF Chang's thinks westerners only eat dishes like General TSO chicken which basically deep fried and covered in sauce. What a shame. The food used to be pretty great. Let me preface this review by saying I've had much better PF Changs experiences in the past. This day however, started off poorly when the hostess acknowledged us, started to seat us, but then proceeded to take a phone call. Once seated our waitress then came over to take our drink orders, she seemed less than thrilled to be working here (or maybe she was having a bad day). We were informed that they had a new menu which at first glance included sushi and was more expensive. We started off with the spring rolls, I ordered the lemongrass chicken salad ($11.25) and my husband ordered the crispy chicken with white rice and hot and sour soup ($10.25). The spring rolls were ok, nothing I would order again. Perhaps we've been spoiled by the amazing spring rolls at Saigon Pearl. The dipping sauce was salty with a hint of spice but not much else in terms of flavor. About 40 min later one of the runners dropped off our main courses like a 12 yr old doorbell ditching. Once he was well out of sight we realized my husband's crispy chicken and white rice dish had turned into crispy shrimp and brown rice. Five minutes later we were able to flag down our waitress, when we told her about the mix up her response was,"let me see what I wrote down," as she flipped through her pad of paper. She said she wrote down shrimp, we told her we ordered chicken. A few awkward moments later she apologized and took the dish back. It took about 10 minutes for the correct dish to come back. It was the lunch portion but small at that. Wasn't as much crispy as it was soggy. My lemongrass chicken salad was soggy too (theme of the day I guess), the lettuce was like 3 days past being crisp. There was no taste of lemongrass I could gather. Overall a disappointment although I acknowledge making calorie conscious dishes can be challenging. In the future I think we'll stick with our neighborhood Chinese takeout when we're craving Chinese. read more

We got take out here and I'm really impressed! The ordering process gives an impression you're calling a big super serious operation. But it's still fast and friendly, it's just different. They tell you exactly how long it will take. When I went to pick it up, the craziest thing happened. I parked in the "PF Changs Pick Up" spot, and a guy came out to my car in freezing weather, gave me my food and took my CC. He was back in a minute and I left. Who does this? I gave the guy more than usual for tip because that's insane. Great for me, but insane. The flavors are very rich and strong. Perfectly cooked meats, well seasoned, rice and noodles delicious. You may think they are expensive at first but when you consider the amount of food you actually get, and the service, it's very fair. You get what you pay for. read more

I came here for lunch and had a decent experience. It was a Tuesday afternoon, and there wasn't really any crowd. I was seated promptly and waited on right away. Drinks were served pretty fast and our waitress was helpful in answering questions I had about their new Winter menu. I ordered the Red Wine and Pepper Braised Beef from the new menu. The sauce was delicious but the beef was not tender enough to be eaten with chopsticks. I had to switch over to fork and knife and even then I felt I had to chew for a long time to eat the meat. The manager was very nice about insisting on making it once again, but I was too hungry to wait. Warning, this dish does have slices of pepper in it making it spicy. It was delicious for me, but for some, it might feel volcanic. For dessert I did the pick three Sweet Treat: Mandarin Key Lime, Tiramisu, and Red Velvet. The Tiramisu was delicious but the Red Velvet was very dry. The Mandarin Key Lime was super sour and too sweet at the same time. Summary: The service was great, but the food needs to be worked on a little bit. read more

PF Changs is a chain - so expect normal Changs food and menu. This location is always busy, so service tends to lack. I even tried to get take out and ended up waiting at the bar for 5 solid minutes before anyone even acknowledged that I was there, let alone the time I waited for them to go and get my food and bring my check. Food is good and there are not that many PF Changs locations around, so I'll continue to go back - just keeping the slow service in mind. read more

Went here with a couple of companions recently. We got veggie spring rolls and veggie lettuce wraps for appetizers, ma po tofu and Buddha's feast for entrees(also a chicken dish I didn't try.) Also added the spicy wok seared Brussels sprouts and veggie fried rice. Everything was good, but the ma po tofu was a standout. Perfect amount of spicy and veggies were crisp but not tough. I also got a non alcoholic coconut drink that was very good. Service was great for a busy Friday night. Price was about $90 for 3 people but it was a ton of food and we took a lot home. After years of wanting to try this place I gin alt did it Saturday night!! Overall it was exactly what I was expecting, good fresh Chinese food at a high price. For an appetizer we had egg rolls (very good) and won ton soup (excellent) and the lettuce wrap (a little disappointed). Overall the apps were good! For dinner I had the beef and broccoli which was very good but the portion was small. (Sorry I was so excited for food I forgot pics). Service was good, we had one small issue where waitress forgot to put in our order of lomein but quickly got kitchen to make and she took it off the bill! Came with a group of 7 for a friend's birthday dinner. For full disclosure, I am not typically a fan of Asian Fusion meals, but I have a soft spot my Panda Express-esque orange chicken, kung pao chicken, etc... I have also had decent experiences at a various P.F. Chang's franchises in California so I thought I knew what to expect with this meal. Service: Our waiter was prompt and attentive. I definitely can't fault their service as their manager came to our table to address the fact that one person's dish took at least 15 minutes longer than the rest of the table's and repeatedly checked with us during the night. Thumbs up for trying here. Food: This is where the restaurant loses the 4 stars. Starting with the high point, the lettuce wrap appetizers were hands down the highlight of the meal. They tasted authentic, were well seasoned, and the lettuce was fresh. I would order this again if forced to return to this restaurant. However, the main course was a disaster. I ordered the Korean BBQ chicken stir fry and was disappointed when my chicken came out dry with some pieces of chicken only partially coated with sauce which tasted vaguely like sweet and sour. What happened to the sticky, glazed, garlicy gochujang flavor that defines Korean BBQ chicken?! (Seriously, World of Beer has an appetizer of Korean BBQ wings that actually taste halfway decent...) That disaster aside, six of the seven of us ordered brown rice with our meals, but instead of bringing 6 individual bowls of rice, the server brought out 1 medium bowl filled with brown rice to share. We asked for 6 individual bowls, hoping that our eyes were deceiving us and the medium rice bowl would actually be enough to feed 6 hungry humans, but we were again disappointed when we were only able to fill 4 bowls. They did bring more rice promptly. However, the rice itself was also so dry that I almost wished I hadn't ordered any at all. Dry chicken + dry rice = dry mouth and unhappy stomach. Overall: I would not return to this P.F. Chang's as I'm sure you can get better Asian and "fusion" food in Albany. Frankly, if you're going to eat Asian food, go for the authentic stuff and put your money toward the many family run restaurants (yes, even the cheap take out Asian places) and avoid this less-than-mediocre, overpriced franchise. read more

If you like decent happy hours with great prices, P.F. Chang's has a great one. Cheap snacks, cheap drinks, and usually not overly crowded to easily snag a seat at the bar. One of my favorite happy hour spots in the area. Some places water down the drinks, or don't really have great specials. This is a solid bet for happy hour fun. read more

Good Chinese food for a chain that is above the typical x wok. Their hot and sour soup is always better than the garden variety version. Recently the one at colony center has introduced a nice feature where if you call using the same phone they ask you if you want the same order you are placed last time.
