While visiting El Paso on business, I decided to give PF Chang's a try. I've eaten at PF Chang's locations in several states over the years, including Minnesota, Colorado, and elsewhere, and I've generally had good experiences. After a disappointing meal from another nearby Chinese restaurant the night before, I was hoping PF Chang's would be a much better experience. Unfortunately, it fell short. The restaurant was not particularly busy when I arrived. I estimated that only about a third of the tables were occupied, with multiple servers, a bartender, and a manager on duty. Despite that, it took longer than expected to be greeted and served. I ordered the famous chicken lettuce wraps first because I wanted to enjoy them before my main course arrived. The lettuce wraps took about 15 minutes to reach the table, which seemed excessive given how slow the restaurant appeared to be. While waiting, I noticed several employees standing around near the kitchen area, another employee sitting in the bar area watching television, and multiple tables with empty glasses waiting for refills. The overall service operation felt disorganized and inattentive. The lettuce wraps themselves were decent but not up to the standard I've come to expect from PF Chang's. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, but the chicken mixture was somewhat watery and only lukewarm. The flavor was acceptable, but it lacked the quality and consistency I've experienced at other locations. I ended up skipping the hot and sour soup and moving directly to my entree, the Kung Pao Chicken. Unfortunately, the service issues continued. Getting a drink refill took far longer than it should have, and several employees, including the manager, walked past my table without noticing my empty glass. As for the Kung Pao Chicken, I was disappointed. While it had some spice, the dominant flavor was vinegar and sourness rather than the balanced savory flavor I typically associate with the dish. The chicken was breaded and fried, which wasn't what I expected, and the overall flavor profile simply didn't work for me. The rice was another letdown. It seemed dry and lacked the texture I typically expect from a restaurant specializing in Asian cuisine. Good rice should complement the meal, but this felt like an afterthought. To be fair, taste is subjective, and some diners may enjoy the flavor profile here. However, based on my previous experiences with PF Chang's in other states, this location did not meet the standards I've come to expect from the brand. In the end, I finished most of the meal only because I was hungry, not because I was enjoying it. Between the slow service, lack of attention from staff, and food that failed to impress, this was not a memorable dining experience. P.F. Chang's has always been a favorite of mine. I have celiac disease, and their extensive gluten-free options and upscale atmosphere had me coming back again and again. Their egg drop soup was my absolute favorite dish anywhere, which is why I truly hate writing this review--but it needs to be said. My family and I visited this location around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and everything from start to finish was surprisingly disappointing. Even though there were only a few parties in the restaurant, it took quite a while for our server to arrive for drinks. I ordered a pot of green tea and a gluten-free lettuce wrap appetizer. The server was polite and even brought honey for my tea (a nice touch), but the water was lukewarm at best--no steam, and cool enough to hold the pot. By the time the tea steeped, it was cool. We had finished our lettuce wraps before the server returned to take our meal orders. My young kids were getting restless, so we ordered quickly: a Buddha's Feast (stir-fried veggies and rice) for our toddler, chicken lo mein for her brother, and for me, a cup of egg drop soup and the gluten-free Singapore Street Noodles. My husband ordered the chicken fried rice. A quick restroom stop revealed something unsettling: drops of dried blood on a toilet seat. I immediately told a staff member, who did go address it right away--so credit where it's due--but it was still a gross and preventable discovery. When the food arrived, I initially appreciated that all gluten-free dishes came in distinct red and black stoneware, which helps reassure diners like me. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. Every dish was noticeably off from what we'd had at other locations. My toddler's Buddha's Feast was swimming in sauce--overcooked slivered carrots and snap peas in a mushy, soupy mix she refused to eat. My son thought the noodles in his chicken lo mein were "the best ever," but the chicken was a different story: dry, curry-coated, crunchy bits that seemed like an afterthought. He picked them out and just ate the noodles. My husband's fried rice was dark, dry, and overloaded with those same curry-dusted chicken chunks--it was inedible to him. Then my turn came, and this is where my heart broke. The egg drop soup, usually rich with vegetables and balanced flavor, had none of that. No carrots, no green onions, and instead of a savory soy base, it tasted like plain salt water--so salty it stung my tongue. The street noodles were no better: dry, dusty vermicelli covered in curry powder with no sauce whatsoever. I suspect this location didn't have gluten-free soy sauce, and they just omitted it. The dish also included more of those crunchy curry chicken pieces and several grape tomatoes that were clearly past their prime--soft, sour, and unpleasant. By now, my toddler was bored, hungry, and trying to wander off, so my husband took her outside to the parking lot. My son and I stayed to finish up, asked for to-go boxes, and waited... and waited. Although the server remained polite, it took nearly 30 minutes for him to return with our check because he was also tending bar. During that wait, I caught his eye multiple times as he made drinks for other tables. By the time we paid, my husband and daughter had returned, both ready to leave. For the first time ever at a P.F. Chang's, I left almost all my food behind. I even did something I almost never do--I tipped exactly 15%. We usually start at 20% or higher, but between the poor pacing, unappetizing food, and general sense that something was very wrong in the kitchen that night, that felt generous. I've since read that P.F. Chang's might have changed some recipes, but these changes were drastic and not reflected anywhere online. I honestly don't know if the chicken was supposed to be dry and curry-dusted, or if the stir-fried veggies were meant to be mushy and served like soup. I don't know if the soy sauce in the egg drop soup was intentionally swapped for salt, or if this was just an unfortunate, chaotic night in one location's kitchen. What I do know is that I'm heartbroken. P.F. Chang's used to be a safe, dependable, and enjoyable place for my family. Now I don't think I'm brave enough to find out if this was a one-time fluke or the new normal. I truly loved this restaurant--and this visit shattered that. read more

We ate lunch here today to celebrate my birthday. It was our first time and we really enjoyed the whole experience. The decor was very nice. The eggrolls were delicious. We got beef and broccoli, spicy Changs chicken and sesame chicken. Also low main as the side. It was all hot and fresh. The beef and broccoli was my favorite. It was seasoned soooooo well. What happened? Wow, so disappointed in returning to one of our favorite places to eat in Sunland Park after a few years living away. Started of with a tacky sticky substance on the table top. Checked the other tables-same. It was so thick it easily streaked with your finger. Gross. Ordered chicken lettuce wraps. And...you know how three-day-old chicken has THAT taste? Yeah. Floors were also sticky. The building hasn't been updated for a decade or more. Bathrooms were dirty and old. Staffs phones all worked though! So that's a positive...or is it? What happened? Time, decay, no maintenance investment, and the downsizing & minimizing portions and quality. Lack of care. So, it has lost its former glory along with these former customers. I always have a great meal and a good time at PF Chang's. There are so many delicious items o. The menu and the great thing is they are listed in the My Fitness Pal app- so it is super easy for me to stay on track and watch my fat, calorie and sodium intake as well as making sure I hit my protein goal for the day. The servers are super accommodating and will box up all my leftovers, including soup (nice plastic container with a secure lid). Today has been hectic and I needed to stop the world and get off, even for only an hour or so. This place is my go to for a relaxing meal. The atmosphere is so calming and the tea is just right. Stopped in for a late lunch with the family. It took a few minutes to be acknowledged after walking in. The restaurant had a nice ambiance and was clean. Our waiter was great. He was friendly, and very attentive. We started with happy hour drinks- very good. We ordered the calamari and green bean appetizers. Everyone loved the green beans, however, I can't say that for the calamari. It was very tuff and rubbery. I had the Buddha's Feast. The overall appearance was good but the vegetables were very hard. They definitely needed to be cooked longer. The family ordered and enjoyed the Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Overall everyone enjoyed there meal. read more

There was a huge one in there I saw thankfully and took it out and checked for more but as I was eating I kept chewing on more pieces of the shell. First time coming to this location and I was quite disappointed. Service was below average, I think the waiting staff has to be a little more professional with their customers. Nobody greeted us at the door, we waited a couple of minutes to even see someone. Mind you, the restaurant was practically empty. Someone told us, "what's up?", when we asked for assistance. We had to ask multiple servers for a sauce and it took forever for someone to actually bring it out, and it ended up being the wrong one. One of our dishes was missing MANY ingredients, the menu clearly stated it had vegetables. When we asked about it, they told us multiple times the dish was made right. Even though it was missing all of the vegetables. We went ahead and asked a different server and they immediately apologized and put a new order in. The new order had the vegetables. The food was incredibly delicious (when done right), but the service is what really makes the review a 2/5 for me. I will say, the interior is incredible. We have eaten at PF Chang a couple of times before this visit. Their special for two was a good deal. On this last visit it appears they had changed the special. Now several dollars more plus up Hargis on several items. With two teas and tip it was $63. Soup was del7cious and dumplings are excellent. DO NOT EAT HERE! The young waiter stole our debit card. Not only was the food taking absolutely forever , but now we do not have our debit card. Due to long wait time of needing the receipt we handed the waiter the card and didn't wait for the receipt. Before leaving we realized we never got our debit card back. We went back to the table before walking back and it wasn't in the black book or our wallets / pockets. We asked the waiter and the waiter said he dropped it but put it back in the book. No where to be found. We called the manager to let her know to check the cameras and it felt like she was protecting the kid. There was no urgency or rush at all to find our debit card. We just had dinner here, and we had a horrible experience. We are long-time customers of P.F. Chang's and have dined at this location many times. The food came out cold, and it was inedible. Our food was not fresh at all. Our service was not friendly or accommodating when we dined or complained. The manager did come out, but she did not comp anything or offer anything to make it right which was extremely disappointing because our dinner was not cheap, and she saw we did not eat anything. We had a reservation for a party that was supposed to be in the patio seating area. Upon arrival they sat us in the main dining area at two large tables that was unacceptable for our size of party. They decided to move us to the patio seating area. The seating area was extremely hot and not well ventilated; this was not outdoor seating. The server started taking our drink and appetizer orders. There was one server for 40 diners which included adults and children. We ordered two diet cokes and when they arrived they were flat. The drinks took about 30 minutes to get to the table. The server only offered to replace it with a glass of water because he said "there must be something wrong with the machine." We ordered the Brussels Sprouts appetizer that never came to us; we were not charged. We ordered our entrees but when they arrived we only received the meat portion of the entrees. The rice sat on a serving tray and I was almost halfway done with my chicken. Now we come to receiving our check. The server stated that everyone was receiving a discount because of the inconvenience of having to be moved from the main dining room to the patio seating area. The original check had the following items: orange chicken w/fried rice, Changs Chicken, Diet Coke (x2). We informed the server about the sodas being on the bill and he said that the discount will take care of the sodas. I explained that if everyone is receiving the discount then I should not be charged for sodas then receive the discount. I should receive the discount for what I "should" be charged for. He said I would have to talk to his manager. I went to the main dining room near the server station and waited 15 minutes for the manager to come out. At least three employees had to go back and get the manager. Manager would only give us a partial credit for the cost of the drinks and she refused to give us her name when I asked because I was going to be contact PF Changs about our experience. read more

Tried this again last week and was not impressed. I keep going back hoping for better. The meal was just okay. The smaller portion was perfect but not much meat and the noodles always taste weird to me. The iced tea was awful, very cloudy. Had it replaced with a coke. The green beans had no taste. The tempura coating fell off and no one cleaned the beans. I kept pulling stems out of my mouth. The best part was the dessert. The portion of the apple wonton was more than enough. Overall, it was tasty. The service was good but for a supposedly upscale Chinese restaurant, it falls flat ambience and food quality wise. Geez, I can't believe how awful everything was. Went in person to place a to go order. Honey crispy shrimp, Mongolian beef, eggrolls, and chicken lo mein. All of it, and I do mean ALL of it was terrible!! The eggrolls were not crispy and did not taste fully cooked. The shrimp had gone mushy. The Mongolian beef was tough and chewy and the lo mein was tasteless. I used a coupon I had for taking a survey, if it hadn't been for the coupon, I would not have tried P.F. We just about finished our meal and the female Asian manager comes over to our table to tell us that we have to leave our table because there was another party coming to dine at the table we where sitting in. And here's the problem- everything came out at once. We wanted to enjoy the soup and salad first then the entrée. Our watress offered to take back the entrées until we were ready for them. Of course they just went under a heat lamp. 15 minutes later she brought them out and , as expected, the rice was a little dry and the food lukewarm. So who's at fault? My husband and myself came here to have a nice lunch and to celebrate my husband's birthday. Cortez was our waiter and he went over and beyond for us. The way he was very nice and polite always made sure we were doing well, topped off our drinks. Their signature Chang's Spicy Chicken dish used to come as an ample quantity of larger pieces of fresh juicy chicken, breaded, then stir fried and finished off with a spicy glaze. Served with a side of rice; very very good. Today it came as ridiculously small pieces of chicken Thumbnail size and wafer thin. The portion was laughable and they charged $16 dollars for it. There's something about PF Chang's that I just really like. And you know what, the horse statue outside of this one feels a little bit more fancy and regal than any other PF Chang's I've been to... it's all about location, location, location. My husband has taken me to dine-in here once before and all that I really remember about it was that it was very well designed and decorated... and that I really liked the food. More recently I've been doing some to-go orders from here and they never do me wrong. Before I get to the good, the one thing that has some room for improvement is their rice. I can tell that it isn't rinsed before they cook it (not saying it's dirty, just saying that, that makes for a harder grain in my opinion). Now the good! So I'm in love with their Mongolian Beef. The sauce/oil/whatever it's in is delicious, the beef is always cooked perfectly, and it comes with an abundance of slightly cooked (because of the heat from the beef) green onions. I also recently tried their new seasonal cobbler and they make a pretty dang good cobbler! To-go service is pretty great here. Online or over the phone you just tell them the make, model, and color of your car and they'll bring it out to you as soon as it's ready. They don't have parking for to-go so you end up just parking in front of the restaurant, but I'm not complaining. And the last time we ordered, they ended up giving us some discount that was going on so we paid about $10 less than what we were expecting. The price here is slightly higher than your average Chinese restaurant, but on par with any Asian-fusion place you may come across. Lunch prices are better, but I think the portions are slightly smaller so taking the cut really depends on how hungry you are. So to recap: Fancy horse statue. Dine-in is good. Rice needs work (but is decent). Mongolian Beef is a hell yeah! Get the seasonal cobbler. Great to-go service. Decent pricing. read more

It was easy for us to get a seat because we sat at the bar and did not have to wait for a table as it tends to be busy. This place offers a variety of appetizers, rice, noodles, and great entrées. Three stars: Food: It's ok. Not Chinese. American Chinese, yes! Typical chain restaurant food. I used to love this place in Boston and LA. Not sure why I don't care for it much. Service: Good, typically get good service. We didn't eat half of the crab ragoons that we ordered. Wish the waiter would have seen that. First clue that we probably aren't too happy. Management: Just a little note. You are wearing a suit. It would have been nice to be acknowledged. I mean, we are the customer. Management walked around several times, didn't smile, didn't say hi. Weird. Especially since this is supposed to be one of the finer places to eat in El Paso. Cleanliness: We got in and out pretty quick. Upon leaving my son was using a napkin to clean his nose, except they don't have napkins, only for the drinks... Ew, but wait, we didn't even get that today. I was looking so forward to going back to have good PF Chang's food and was so disappointed. It took a long time to get our food and unfortunately the the wait wasn't worth it. The food was mediocre and needed all the chili sauce on the table to give it some flavor. The waiter was very amiable and helpful. I think that the cooks they had before may have changed and unfortunately the presentation and flavor has changed. Sad. read more
