I called to see what time they were closing. Girl says, "Umm probably 9:45 tonight. If you leave now you'll be fine." (I told her what address I was coming from.) So I arrive at 9:42, 3 mins to close. They can clearly see I'm getting my daughter out of her car seat as I was parked right in front of the front door & the girl hurries & turns off the lights & locks the door so I knock and she gives me a dirty look. She opens the door & I tell her I have 3 more minutes to get my daughter an ice cream. She looks over at another girl & they let me in but seemed very annoyed by it. I said, "I called." She said, "Oh, yeah." Girl starts making my shake & hands it to me dripping and walks away. I'm like, umm. . Keep in mind I was holding a toddler on my hip. Nobody asked if they could help as it dropped all over my dress. No "Thanks for coming in!" No nothing. Then the girl says aloud, "Hurry guys, we've gotta cram & finish closing up!" I was so frustrated & it will be the last time I come here. Sad service, sad food appearance. I get that it's annoying when a customer comes in right before closing time but they told me to come otherwise I would've went to Sonic or something. The service was just unprofessional & rude. I've grown up on this place but.... The owner Todd is NOT nice at all and it completely changed my whole perspective on the place.. I've never been through a worse interview process in my life! I WAS 16.. The full interview was...a nightmare to say the least.. not only was it suggested by him that I was unintelligent, but also that I wouldn't catch on to certain things correctly due to my speed...? (it was literally one of my first interviews ever, I was 15-16 y/o) AND HE WAS JUST A BUS DRIVER AT THE MOMENT !!?! and to very condescendingly tell me to look elsewhere for employment because due to my interview it just simply wouldn't work out....my mom also applied and was told the same thing after working with fast food for 16+ years... I've been coming here since before I can remember but the lack of respect received from the owner, it has definitely made my family and I, resort to different places for our popsicles, classic diner foods, and neighborhood-loved environments like Nielsen's or other places for down home Bountiful satisfaction! Hopefully he'll fully change his attitude soon or get somebody who knows how to treat people, so we can get a fresh friendly owner! It is what it is. AOK burgers, killer onion rings, aok fries, mikshakes made the old way but from soft serve, lots of sugar items for kiddies, teenagers serve you. Rainbows!!! These are probably the best thing in the world. A slushy and soft serve ice cream. Together!!! Um yes please! Thank you to ever thought if this. The food is your classic hamburger, onion rings, fries, ect. It's good food, but dine in. Buns get soggy super quick from all that delicious grease. Another problem is that they hire high school kids, so sometimes the service isn't great. They're more interested in talking about bobby the new hot boy at school then giving me my rainbow :) and my food. But. I love paces. It's been there forever and will always be good. read more

This is a cool spot and I'll tell you a little secret. While it's primarily a shake shack, in the back is a little grill...a very nice, well-seasoned little thing and it makes those institutional burgers actually good. You can't get a bacon cheeseburger here or a pastrami cheeseburger or much outside of a double cheeseburger cheeseburger, but what they do, they do pretty well. Is it the greatest burger you're going to have? No. Are you kidding? That grill is clearly an afterthought, as is the deep fryer, but you're going to get something tasty for that $5 you're plunking down, even if it is institutional and that's somewhat of a skill. I'm not sure, for instance, my incredible prowess notwithstanding, that I could pull it off, yet they do. Shredded lettuce was a mess and the burger didn't match the bun, but I'll tell you something...it added to the charm. This place is chock full of that, charm, that is. I really loved being there and adored this spot. I imagine if I had a shake, it would be higher, but I hope this place never changes, even if I'm currently keeping my fat ass off shakes for (maybe ever) a while, at least. I loved the décor, all that cool old stuff and signage (I wanted a honey bar thing after I saw it on a sign, but couldn't find it on the menu) and even with the high school pukes that kept drifting in, I still enjoyed it. I wouldn't turn down coming back again, but let's be honest with each other a hot minute, despite the burger being pretty good, they're not going to dazzle anyone with their mad ass food skills. Very solid, no question. A destination spot...not so much, unless you live in the area. No complaints from me overall though. read more

Thought we would try the neighborhood option instead of chain fast food. The absolute WORST service ever! Couldn't think of anything worse...oh wait...THE FOOD! First the kid taking our order explained to us entirely the wrong burger! So we ordered what he said according to his description 4patty cheese burgers DELUXE! $12 later, we had a double thin patty, smashed soggy bun, finger pinch of shredded lettuce, a pickle, and NO TOMATOES! Had to look VERY had to find a sneeze of cheese between to two patties. When we brought it to the managers attention she deflected it as it was the kids first day, and was the responsibility of his "trainer" to make sure he knew the menu, but he wasn't around either!! She offered to retake our order and charge us again for the right burgers..but glad we didn't! Even more money for more crappy food! No thank you! When you really had to look as to which was a hamburger and which is a cheeseburger, there is a HUGE problem! Still hungry. We have had better 2.99 doubles from Carl's Jr.! Took an unforgivable amount if time to receive our order. Burgers were bland, fries were bland, and I'm pretty sure the corn dog was from the frozen food isle at the grocery store and just microwaved. The attitude of the bearded guy behind the counter made this the single worst fast food experience of my life. When I pointed out a mistake in my order I was treated poorly. The worker argued with me about the mistake and refused to correct it, nor would he return my money. I paid $7 for the one bite it took to figure out the error. Now, mistakes happen, all the time, and I only went back because it was an allergy issue that I advised them of. However, Every other customer was more important than ones already served. This place was a staple growing up for their awesome Astro Pops (giant delicious popsicles in peach, grape, cherry and lime). My other favorite here is what they call a Rainbow (soft serve vanilla with your choice of peach, cherry, lime, grape slush over the top). The food is ehh- very greasy and just not that good! Been coming here since I was a wee lad and never really had a bad experience. The food is just fine, nothing to write home about and definitely not a waste of money either and price is fair. I really don't eat meals here though because I just want their rainbow slushes! This iconic Bountiful hamburger drive-inn has seen much better days in both service, cleanliness and quality of it's food. The ice cream and frozen treats are still good, but Pace's no longer carries the home-made chocolate ice cream bars they used to. The frozen popsicle-style Pace bars are still very popular and are a must with any visit. And the rainbows (various flavors of slush mixed with vanilla soft-serve ice cream) are delicious. The decor has changed a bit over the years with a more nostalgic look with old advertising signs and gas pumps, but the decor cannot make up for the oftentimes slow, indifferent service and declining quality of the food. Quite often, the wait is very long, even when there are few people in the restuarant. The past three times we visited, our order took nearly twenty minutes, they left out one item (my wife's hamburger) and everything was cold by the time we got it. The teenage staff seems very unorganized and are sometimes downright arrogant. The tables are often left uncleaned as the staff are seen and heard laughing and joking behind the counter. And the restroom facilities are sub-standard in cleanliness. The food is generally good when served hot, but with the slow service it usually comes luke-warm to cold. The french fries used to be very good, but our last three visits have yielded more hard, dried-out fries than moist and tender ones. The food is still better than McDonald's on good days, but the quality just isn't the same as it used to be. Hopefully the owner will read this review and take the necessary steps to correct the Dairy Ann's deficiencies in service and quality of it's food. If you are looking for the same Pace's menu items, but much better service and a much cleaner restaurant, try the Pace's Drive-Inns in Layton and Clearfield. They are operated by family members who broke away from the Bountiful store several years ago. read more

Horrible, horrible food!!! I grew up loving this place and I don't know if it's just because I was younger and didn't know what good food tasted like or if the food has just taken a huge dive. First thing I noticed is no one wears gloves while preparing and handling the food. I ordered the Country Boy and I ended up throwing half away it tasted so bad. I also ordered onion rings and they were as hard as a rock. I brought them up to the counter where they said I can wait to talk to the "chef" (aka the girl working the grill and fryer). I told her and she said that's just how they all are. Another small annoyance is the fry sauce costs extra at the Woods Cross location while the Layton location is free lol. The burger was okay - a decent drive-in burger, and the fries were standard frozen fries. Nothing to write home about. The reason for the two stars is the price. My lunch was over $10 - for adequate food. I didn't go crazy - I ordered a cheese burger, small fries, small drink. They charge you extra for dipping sauce for your fries, and they charge you for a refill on your drink. $.54 for a small refill? Who charges for a refill nowadays? I think the only redeeming thing about Paces is the Pace Bars. They are a delicious frozen treat. read more

This place is great if your into old school quality. My personal favorite is the cheeseburger with a slice of ham- just ask for it. The cherry-coke has its own unique flavor cause its made with black cherry syrup and the rainbows are amazing. You can choose from cherry, grape, lime and tigers blood. Highly recommended. read more
