This review is 2.7/5. For weeks I was excited and and looking forward to a well established steak house. Last year I ate at Peter Lugers stake house and it was good not phenomenal, I was slightly let down. So this year I was expecting something delicious and mouthwatering. (intro) As I arrived the only way to park your car was by valet, I highly dislike that because I do not feel like I am above parking my car and waking for a minute. Another I am not a fan of valet is that they can damage your car without you noticing till the next morning, they are also always looking for a tip with there hand out. I tipped them $10 for parking my car and it seemed to them that it was not enough. In addition to this they drove my car on to a curb leaving 2 tries on the flat pavement and 2 tries on an elevated surface running over a curb. (Valet) As I walked inside with very high expectations they seated me quickly but I noticed I was sitting on a flimsy chair they seemed to be from the 90s from my dead grandmothers house it had old fabric on the back of it. When I looked to the wall next to be I noticed that the wood accent was extremely chipped and beat up it had water marks on it. I did enjoy the Christmas lights and the decorations around the roof it was a nice touch. The carpet was alright I mean a little odd but whatever. All the tables in there came with an adjusted light which I liked to set the tone. (Ambiance) Now to the moment we have all been waiting for the food the best part. I was severed a big basket of bread with various different types my favorite being the garlic beard. I absolutely loved it was very good. I ordered the Kobe Beef meatballs for appetizer and they were also very good, perfectly cooked and not dry at all. Then I had a Cesar salad that was also good I loved how fresh all the ingredients were the highlights were the juicy chicken and cheese. On to the entree the best part of dinner or I thought. I order the Porterhouse. Stake I ordered the stake medium rare but when it came to the table I noticed it was extremely charred on the top and bottom, black flakey bits were falling off. As I bit into trying to taste the famous meat I couldn't because the BURNT CHARRED flavor over powered the entire steak. I mean I could barley and even taste the meat. My mouth was overloaded with burnt steak. I was so excited and hungry for this but now I could barely eat it I mean this was an absolute disappointment, this stake was a disgrace. (Food) One of the absolute best parts of my night was my server Taylor he was awesome. I love the enthusiasm and empathy. He showed at dinner. It showed me that he really wanted to be there that night and enjoyed his job as a waiter. I admire that and I appreciated him. The service was fairly quick and they were diligent with water refills. Wow! This steakhouse was absolutely amazing! This has now become my favorite steakhouse in Long Island! It was that good! And I have been to many steakhouses thus far. I can't say enough about my experience. From the friendly valet to our servers I give them all high ratings. The reason I say this is that every person I came in contact with was so friendly and attentive. My porterhouse steak was prepared to perfection and absolutely so tender and flavorful. A little bit of a let down with our past visit to Pace's (after excellent last visits). It's been extremely hard to get a reservation here so when we were able to snag one for this past Friday, we jumped on it. A plus for the QR code menus! Love it. I was thrilled to see they had the bacon slab as a special appetizer. My favorite thing in the world! It was extremely fatty but very delicious. Here's where things started going down: for dinner, my fiancé and I ordered the porterhouse for two. It came out cold. Must have been sitting for a while. We didn't want to send it back because we did not want the meat to come back overcooked. At other steakhouses, the meat is always sizzling because it is so hot. We did not get that experience this time around. Also, the juice was totally missing from our plate. It was completely dry and the few drops of juice we were able to put on our steak with the large spoon, we had to be extremely careful to make sure all pieces of meat received juice. Then, I found a hair on our steak. I picked it up with my steak knife and flagged our waiter down. It seemed like head trying to accuse me and said, "Was the hair from the steak or from you plate?" Listen, I know my hair and it was NOT my hair. Instead of replacing the meat, he replaced my KNIFE. My fiancé also found a hair on his meat. Gross. So gross! We were not compensated for this mix up. For a $110 piece of meat, I expect everything to be perfect. Dessert was fine. We just had ice cream. For a high class steak house, I come in with high expectations every time I am here. May 5th 2025 Paces has always been a restaurant where I expect a calm and upscale atmosphere. Over the past thirty years I have brought many friends and family to enjoy this experience. I was a guest at your restaurant this past Sunday with my family and I wanted to share a very troubling experience we had during the visit. We were a party of six including two elderly gentlemen in their seventies. Unfortunately, a nearby table with two crying infants made it nearly impossible for us to hear each other. The waitress apologized profusely. We respectfully asked the manager if he could address the issue. The manager did speak to the table but what followed was truly unacceptable. The woman at the table began loudly yelling obscenities at us, including the word F*** repeatedly, and pointing at us in a threatening way. This continued for 20 minutes. As her behavior escalated the men at the table became agitated as well. They were standing around the table pacing. Their behavior and language directed at us was making the whole family uncomfortable. I walked over to the table to calmly asked why they were pointing and loudly yelling obscenities at our table. The men became very aggressive and rude. I returned to my table and my partner went to find the manager. This behavior is not what I would expect to be allowed at a restaurant, the caliber of Paces. The manager did not intervene meaningfully after the situation escalated, and frankly it ruined what should have been a special meal with family. I am writing this because this was not only unpleasant-it was a safety issue. We were verbally harassed and bullied in your establishment not once but twice by these two men. They came to our table aggressively and verbally affronted our whole table. My partner, at that point, left the restaurant. I asked my older brothers if they would like to leave as we had not even ordered yet. The manager returned and assured us he would make this right so 5 of us remained. The anger spewing from this table loudly continued throughout the meal, bringing me to the point of tears. I changed my seat at the table at the suggestion of my sister in law as to not have to see this woman pointing and cursing at me. The waitress was compassionate and very apologetic reiterating how sorry she was and repeated that this should not be happening. To our dismay, management did not step in effectively during this harassment. A party leaving passed by our table and uttered to us they are such white trash! The most alarming part came as the group exited the dining room, we were situated right by the barroom glass door, the men descended upon our table once more, yelling and verbally attacking all of us reducing me to tears. Only then did management intervene and a police officer who happened to be seated nearby- intervened. Instead of being removed from the premises, the group was escorted to the bar area, where their yelling and aggressive behavior continued for another 15 minutes. I don't understand why they weren't removed from the premise entirely in this situation. As older adults, we genuinely feared for our safety leaving the restaurant. The women in our party especially felt vulnerable, unsure whether these individuals might attempt to follow or confront us outside. I am reaching out not only to share this experience but also to express how disappointed and unsafe we felt. We expected a level of professionalism and guest protection from your staff that was sorely lacking in this situation. In the light of the fact that we spent a significant amount of money for a dinner that was completely overshadowed by chaos, threats, and a lack of adequate staff intervention, I feel that some form of restitution is not only appropriate but necessary. We came expecting a fine dining experience and instead left feeling harassed and unsafe. I would appreciate a gesture of goodwill from your establishment in the form of a refund and your acknowledgement that the experience we received fell far below the standard of your restaurant. More importantly, I urge your management to seriously consider how future incidents of guest harassments are handled. This was not only a disruption but a bullying incident and a safety issue-and I hope no other guests have to endure what we experienced. I hope to hear from you and that this matter is handled expeditiously. The restaurant did refund us the entire meal the next day but told us that both parties were to blame. This was even more insulting! Why wasn't the manager taking care of this out of control family hurling obscenities and verbally attacking our whole table? This tables behavior was ruining the dining experience for the entire room. Why were they allowing this woman to scream profanities without stepping in? Where was the manager this whole time? Service: A lot of people. It felt nice to know that we were always going to be served and that it was a team effort at this location. I am pretty sure that there were about 5 different people that came up and checked up on us throughout the night. They made sure that we got everything that we wanted and if we were missing something, it was their mission to find it. Food: Porterhouse for Two - Good but Charred. We always ask for medium rare as our cooking temperature. We ended up getting a full range through the steak from medium well at the tip to rare towards the middle. It had great flavor but some parts were a bit too charred for my taste. I would suggest getting the individual steak instead of something with a bone. Mac & Cheese - MUST HAVE! This was amazing. I made a reservation on Open Table for a birthday dinner for 3, 2 days before I needed to change it because a family member was now able to come. I called the restaurant because I was having difficulty making the change on Open Table. The gentleman thar answered the phone said he could take care of it, he changed it to party of 4 and said he would cancel my Open Table reservation. I received confirmation with the new reservation. On the day we arrive, the hostess could not find our reservation and said we would have to be seated in the bar area, but at a table. Since it was my husband's birthday, I was upset because I wanted it to be a special night. He said he was ok with sitting there. At first the noise level was ok, but they soon brought in some families with young children and it got very loud and unpleasant. The prices we were paying for the food were no cheaper in the bar environment vs. The much nicer dining room, but the experience was sub par. The food we ordered was lacking. The baked clams were flavorless, the salad was just meh. When it came time for the steak, my husband and I got a steak for 2. The first pieces we were served were ok, but the slices closest to the bone were indeed rancid; I could not swallow the meat. Steaks are dry aged but I think the meat we were served was way past its prime. My daughter's pasta was overpowered by garlic, very disappointing. I left feeling very upset that a birthday dinner could have been a lot better had I went with my first instinct and chosen another steak house. Thia restaurant came highly recommended, but it seems like it has gone downhill since then. It's over rated. 2 stars for a great waiter, but we won't be returning. read more

Let's start off reviewing 2020 (even if this trip was in 2019) with macaroni and cheese. Yes, that's probably the biggest reason why I ended up at Pace's Steakhouse a few Thursday's ago. Not something you would expect when talking about a place with meat in its name, but that was the starting point, at least for my girlfriend. But hey, validation is due to her, though we'll get to that in a bit. Okay, really it was her parents who had previously visited Pace's (for the first time) and returned with a glimmering (verbal) review of the place. They also came back with some leftover mac and cheese which found its way to my lady, who had then been dying to go. So we finally made the trip, the two of us, her parents, and one of her sisters (five total) with reservation (through Yelp!) and a Groupon in hand. Once the car was valeted (only option) the amazingness began. Yeah that's the word I'm going to use, and not lightly. It's tough not to when you're actually experiencing Pace's in person. For starters, the service was amazing. Brendan and Mark were our waiter team who had outstanding knowledge of the menu, never seemed unsure by any questions we had, and was on top of us with kind and accommodating service the whole night. I have to also mention my GF's sister who isn't a steak eater, but was able to order a chicken dish any way she wanted (as per Brendan's assurance). Wow. I thought this was just (you guessed it) amazing in making the customer happy. Oh, and I need to throw in that our water glasses were never empty. They were even trying to fill them when we were getting up! That's classy, Pace's, very classy. Beyond the amazing (okay, I'll stop) service is the slightly more important food portion. Now I'm not a steak connoisseur, but I've had my fair share of cuts. I will also mention I often go with a medium-well cook, which many readers might be throwing their hands up in disgust right about now. For whatever reason, that night I chose to go medium on my 12oz filet mignon and whether it was that factor, Pace's quality, or somewhere in the middle, all I can say is it was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Juicy, tender, seasoned perfectly, and really didn't need any steak sauce or any addition. The flavor alone was enough to knock out your taste buds. Besides the steak, I also have to mention the sides (someone might remember this did begin with macaroni and cheese, right?). All served family style, we chose the fried onions (super crispy and not too oily), the creamed spinach (incredibly fresh with the cream laying on top for us to mix in), the garlic mashed potatoes (perfect garlicky flavor and honestly my favorite side of them all), and Jackson's macaroni and cheese. Yeah, it lived up to the hype. Not gooey with cheese but rather creamier than anything else with a perfect balance of tastes. I would be remiss if I forgot to mention the (complimentary with entree) side salads (their bleu cheese and creamy cucumber dressings were out of this world) and the garlic herb buttered bread for the table. You know how to cook, Pace's! So what about the price? When talking steak, you know things aren't necessarily cheap (that's where Groupons come in handy), but Pace's isn't otherworldly in pricing, even without a coupon. Actually, they beat out a personal favorite of mine (Frank's Steaks) by having slightly cheaper menu selections (plus that comp salad shouldn't be scoffed at). It has honestly made me question my steak allegiances. Pace's you may have just stolen mi corazon from good old Frank's (nothin' personal, just steak). Overall, Pace's Steakhouse is the complete package (though I'd love to sit a little further from the doorway next time, just sayin'). Starting with outstanding service that continued throughout a delicious meal and ended with a bill we felt was totally worth the money. So whether you love macaroni and cheese, a well-cooked steak, or something in the middle, you're in for a real treat at Pace's. You better believe I'll be back (and for me, it'll be for both of those aforementioned food options, and then some!). read more

Reserved a private room upstairs for a dinner party this past Saturday, and we couldn't be happier. The staff was very personable, friendly, and efficient with every request. Not to mention patient with the young children running around underfoot. The food was outstanding, and without a single complaint. I strongly suggest the Double Cut Pork Chop. We were offered a table for a short wait or to try out the bar, so we decided to go with the bar. The drinks were strong which is a plus but everything else was about average. Ordered a steak and it was good, no complaints taste wise. However they didn't bring out a steak knife to cut the steak so had to ask for one. Got a side of vegetables which were good but again not worth the price. The bartender was nice but could tell she was flustered when the bar became crowded. Recently went to Paces for dinner and had to say all of our dinners were not good. Sea scallops were very salty and over blackened Filet mignon was cooked medium instead of medium rare. The duck was only a duck breast instead of half a duck. Taste was not as good. Chicken parm was not that good. The only thing that was good was the lobster bisque and the house salads. So when the manager comes over to ask you how your food is do you just blurt out it all sucks tonight?? No, you suck it up and spend your 300 bucks somewhere else! I'd like to start off by saying that the management, waiters and bartenders were amazing. Our food was delicious but the reason I can't give five stars is due to the lack of professionalism on behalf of the two lady hostesses. While we had a reservation for 7:00pm I was understanding of the turn around time for a small restaurant such as this establishment, the two hosts directed us to the bar where me and my fiancé grabbed a glass of wine while we waited , as 30 minutes passed we went back up to the host stand for an update where they said we were in the same situation, waiting for a table to get up. Of course this is frustrating because at this point we thought to ourselves what is the point of a reservation? Standing within the lobby a second couple walked in behind us and wouldn't you know they got sat immediately, when I asked the hostess why they were sat ahead of us all I was given was a "What are you talking about?" Which certainly sent me off the edge , as these two young ladies unprofessionally sat there showing each other pictures of shoes and talking about their next Amazon purchase , I went to them to express my disappointment and both of them just walked away from the host stand, the manager then came up to me and offered me and my fiancé a free cocktail of our choice (class act). This was a fantastic place to eat! Planned event with a group of friends (8 in total) and the wait staff was helpful and the drinks were strong. Steaks were cooked to perfection and all the sides were fantastic. Considering this was a week out before Christmas - lots of cute decor - but not insanely loud or crowded. Really can't say enough good things. Even with some drinks and so many sides (had to take some home) the bill wasn't crippling. About 120$ per person which, for a lovely steak house with drinks, is pretty reasonable. Highly recommend. read more

Moved to Suffolk 3 years ago. Have been to Pace's for Dinner quite a few times and happy hour many times and ordered appetizers at the bar. The entire staff is so engaging and professional from the bussers to the managers. Food is always amazing. Last night they only had one parking lot attendant. He ran like crazy trying to get everyone taken care of as fast as he could. He was swamped and had to be exhausted. He hustled the whole time and had a great attitude. His name was Rob and he deserves a raise. Guy has my respect. Highly recommend and will be a repeat customer for years I'm sure. read more

Just left Pace's Steak House. I've been on a streak of negative reviews but that all changes tonight. They used to have a restaurant in Port Jefferson and we ate there many years ago. Wasn't impressed and eventually they closed and Old Fields came in. The Hauppauge location is the original and I'm happy I finally dined there. First, they have valet parking. I love this feature. I like just pulling up and letting someone else worry about parking my car. We had a reservation but walked in about 15 minutes early. No problem, we are immediately seated in the "Library Room ". I love the decor but immediately out waiter, Adam, introduces himself and has water followed by bread, brought to the table. Adam takes our drink order then runs throughout the specials. Adam and the rest of the wait staff are professionals not kids working while going to school, or "finding themselves". They speak properly and with knowledge of the food they are serving. I start with an app of Kobe Meatballs. These are not Swedish sized Meatballs, these are the size your grandmother used to make.i could only eat two and had the third packed to come home with me. These Meatballs are the real thing, real Kobe Beef, not the so called "American Kobe", whatever that is. So I order the 10-12 oz Filet Mignon and my wife has the marinated strip steak. Both cooked perfectly. Side note, table across from us orders the Porterhouse for two, along with a bottle of ketchup. I cried when I saw that and I'm tearing up now. They should have been asked to leave. Let's move on. Along with our steaks we had sautéed spinach, also yummy. This is s real Steak House, not Friday's or Applebee's, oh no. But be prepared to pay Steak House prices, well worth it. Guarantee you will not be disappointed. read more
