The short version (the long one took 8 months) is that Herman took care of my son's car that would not smog. He tested time and time again... nights, weekends, holidays, until the end of time (it seemed) and charged us but once. DMV finally gave up and agreed to register with proper paperwork from smog station. On the last visit, a small miracle... all the sensors set and it passed. In the time he worked with my son I had both of my cars done and sent several other family members and friends to visit. Everyone loves the guy! You will too!! read more

The gentleman who helped me ( I think he was the owner) was very friendly and nice. He approached me right away and told me the cost upfront . He then took my car to have it smogged and told me it was going to be about thirty minutes. It took even less time than that and on top of that he took the time to explain to me what to do next via the dmv and registering my car etc. The staff seemed very knowledgable and courteous. Working in customer service myself, I defiantly give this place five stars. The office was very small but very welcoming . I have taken cars to Pacheco Smog several times in the past 3 years and thought it was time to write a review. I HIGHLY recommend this establishment. Don't be deceived by its appearance. Pacheco Smog is a GREAT place to go and get your car tested. The staff is always very friendly. They are honest and straight forward with the test results and their recommendations. The service is prompt. I am usually in/out in about 20 minutes. Their prices may be "slightly" higher than some other places (and I mean slightly...about $50 for the test) however, their no-hassle quick service is more than worth it. I will not go anywhere else in the future if I can help it. read more

I procrastinated and realized my tags were due asap, but needed a smog. I was referred here by a friend and couldn't have had a better experience. I needed no appointment, I was seen right away, and I was out of there in maybe 15 min. The receptionist was super friendly and shared a few laughs. This year on my registration it stated that I had to go to a star certified station because of the age of my car (10 years old). This special certification is more costly than just a regular smog, so I wasn't able to go to the place that my family had been going to for a few years, which lead me to Yelp! There are so many smog companies on Yelp, that it can get overwhelming to sort through the many options, but I was amazed when I stumbled upon Pacheco Smog and its list of all 5 star reviews. I went on the DMV website to confirm that Pacheco Smog had the special certification I needed and then I called this place as well as two other locations in Concord. Although I had read that this location had a better price than other smog shops, $50 if you check in on Yelp vs $59 or $60 elsewhere, I wanted to call around to confirm pricing. When I showed up I was greeted warmly. I felt immediately comfortable, (probably because of the list of good reviews I knew that I would be taken care of fairly), and the two employees I met (I believe one was the owner) were very friendly and joking around. They had a TV in the reception area, and the channel was an age appropriate channel, the Discovery channel, unlike other car places where they have trashy talk shows on. Free wifi, and the quickest service ever! Definitely will be back and will be recommending to my family as their cars are around 10 years old too. Wish they did oil changes because I would by more often! read more

Uh, yeah...these two dudes, Tony & Pepe, were top notch. I had fixed the problem with the Check Engine Light on my van, but wondered if Tony should check to see if any codes prevented a Smog Test. He hooked up the meter and saw it was fine to test. While filling out paperwork and talking with Tony for, oh...maybe 3 minutes...( 5 tops!? )...Pepe hooked it up, tested it ( passed ) and came back in. Done. WT? I'm still kinda amazed at how EFFICIENT these dudes were. I can't remember there being a quicker smog I've ever had of all my years of driving. I know the van is only 8 years old, but....another mortal would have taken maybe...30 minutes to test it?? Verrrry cool...nice guys...they take pride in their work by being competent, honest and upfront with customers. They won't con you out of your money. In a world where the "Auto Mechanics Industry" is viewed with very low trust, these men are refreshing in breaking that stereotype. God bless Pacheco Smog. read more

I did a Test Only smog in October (at another shop), and was smogging it this time in preparation to sell. I went here because of the great reviews. It took 45 minutes. They told me my car failed, and offered half price for a retest (not free like others have mentioned, and other smog shops offer). My car previously passed 7 months ago, so I felt a little ripped off. I then took my car to another shop, and it passed with flying colors like it should've. I'm really not sure what happened here. And yes, I did run my car hard before both tests. read more

My husband and I will always take our vehicles here for smogs. The customer service is outstanding which is pretty hard to find these days. Yes, its true. This place is really a five star smog place. Not sure you can say much more than what has already been said about a smog check place, but here goes. The place was easy to find with plenty of parking. The guys here are super friendly (as well as funny and sociable), service is quick and efficient, and prices are reasonable. No appointment was necessary. I just rolled in, got my vehicle smogged, and I was out in less than fifteen minutes (I did come toward the end of the day). Waiting area is typical for smog places. It was clean, had coffee and reading material, and wifi was available. There is a TV there for those that get really bored. On top of their great service, they gave me the $10 off Yelp coupon.
