Advice! Get several quotes before buying a new furnace or thinking that you need to buy a new one! Several days ago, when our furnace went on, my wife immediately said that there was a burnt kind of smell coming from several vents. We took the furnace off and tried to think of who to call. Having never had this situation before, we checked with a friend and the only name any of us remembered was Pacific Aire. I went to their website and although it was Saturday, I was able to set up a chat with them. They could have someone come out on Monday. Fine, as a friend loaned us a space heater. The technician arrived and chatted with us for awhile. I'm thinking time is money, get up there and fix the problem! He finally does go up for a considerable period of time and upon returning says I have some pictures for you. OK? He shows what he thinks is wrong with our furnace and says we probably need a new one and he can call the office to see when someone could come by to give us options. Lo and behold, someone was available just a couple of hours later. I've now told my wife that this second guy will really be a salesman. This guy also spends about an hour with us again checking the furnace and then showing us two possible furnace options between $8000 and $9000. But since my wife had been a teacher and I was well over 65, there were some discounts that we could get. OK, I'm not going for this right now. Ah, but if we look at his schedule and can fit into that, we can get another 7% discount. Pacific Aire talks about how well trained their technicians are and I would agree that a lot of that time goes into sales training. (I use to do sales training years ago). Another neighbor is a paint contractor so he gives us the name of a HVAC guy that he's worked with on his rentals. I call him and although he's really busy, we have our space heater so two days later he promptly comes by. He looks professional and acts it asking a couple questions and then hopping up his ladder to the furnace in the attic. A few minutes later he is so excited that he has the problem solved. The wiring diagram that was glued to the blower door released and got sucked into the heat exchanger. He removed a couple things and got the paper diagram and removed it. It had burn marks all over it (the smell)! He retested our furnace, said that we had a great furnace that should last us another 15 years and off he went! But, not before I got several business cards from him. He was so happy that he had solved our problem! And, for us, he potentially saved us from buying something we didn't need and saved us Pac Air's $8000. Now, two Pac Aire people went up there and couldn't find a stuck paper and this guy could in 10 minutes? Their only answer was spend $8000 and replace the furnace, a furnace project my neighbor thought should cost about $5000. It's been several days now since this incident and our furnace continues to hum along beautifully. This was just our experience. My advice to anyone before purchasing a new furnace is to get several quotes. There are many good reputable companies out there who can fix your problem rather than sell you something new! Well, it's been just over a week since pacific aire came to replace my thermostat. I have to say, not only did they replace the thermostat with a higher quality one for free . They were also very apologetic for the trouble I was going through and getting this issue taken care of. I'm still learnng how to use the thermostat thru the remote. But I swear, it's quieter than the last one. And I've had no issues with the wi-fi so far. read more

My wife and I bought our first home at the beginning of 2017. It was in wonderful condition but its' HVAC unit was going on 20 years old and we knew it would eventually need to be replaced. Excellent service! We had multiple issues with our heating and cooling system and Michael Marshall dealt with them one by one both with courtesy and thorough attention. He then went beyond the call of duty when he investigated our attic for a possible water leak as a result of Pacific Aire installing new insulation a few months ago. He found no evidence of any water leak or damage to the piping and then got on our roof and discovered that a cracked roof shingle is the probable cause of the water leak into our front room! Just had our furnace/ac replaced with a heat pump which was a two day job. The first day a crew of 5 (David P., Erwin, Ulesis, Grant and Tyler) showed up and 2 showed up the next day to finish up. They were all very cordial and friendly going over and beyond. They were able to answer any questions I had and verified with me what they were doing was okay with me prior to just doing it. This company has horrible customer service, horrible. Set appointment but once but 3 times for service. Called back in my own to confirm because it was a very urgent matter. Each time (3 times)- I called them to confirm afterwards and each time I was told I had no appointment.. what company does this?? In fact each time I was told it was my fault. Why couldn't they just call me back and say they didn't ask for a piece of information and book the appointment instead of letting me wait at a property for their service person???? Called needing fast service and got two day out service, tech showed up disheveled and unprofessional. Claimed entire HVAC system was done and needed to be replace to the tune of my life savings. Then actually said to hire a different company bc pac aire rips people off. Cool, so he took the 80$ and left... So i did that, and low and behold, a single part was needed and the two house calls plus part were only $150. Not cool Pac Aire, not cool. Hate to post something negative, I have never posted a negative review in my life. Pacific Aire came out to diagnose why our air conditioner wasn't working. The technician said it was dead, no refrigerant fluid, ducts were shot, etc. He said we needed a new unit and new ducts. The next day, the salesman came, and after an hour and 1/2 looking at our equipment, quoted us $10,000 for new ducts, and about $20,000 for a new unit. Today, we had a second company come out to diagnose and give a quote. They said the only problem was that the fan wasn't starting. After installing a $140 part, our system is up and running. He was in the attic, and said our ducts were fine. Believe me, he got a huge tip! I cannot believe we were quoted $30,000, and our air conditioner is on right now, for $140. Wish I could get back the $79 service fee we were charged for having two guys come out, for nothing. read more

We have lived in our house for six years now and only the first year did we have a/c but only down stairs. The heater worked the whole time but again only down stairs. So I decided to finally do something about it. I heard of one of their promotions and got hooked up. Mike and Haden came out to analyze the situation and then Bob came out to set me up. Angel, Cody and Gustavo were the installers . All from Mike To the installers each one gave exceptional service. They were all very informative, polite, respectful. The best manners I've come across in well forever. Each day they came on time and made sure not to leave a mess. Annual scheduled maintenance & tune up turned into a service call when 2 year old furnace quit providing heat with the fan running constantly. The technician arrived exactly on time and was respectful, courteous, and considerate of our problem. It turned out to be an electronics problem, and it was a little over his skill level. So rather than try to muddle through, he got on his phone to a more qualified electronics tech, and together they sorted it out and got it working. I made an appointment w/Pacific Aire and Jud Schlimgen is who I met that evening. We sat down and went over his material. All of my questions and concerns were answered. Plus, I learned quite a bid about how an HVAC system works. That was key for me because I felt comfortable moving forward w/Pacific Aire. We had 3 quotes prior to PA and ended up going with them, because they are super skilled at what they do-I could tell by the way they answered our questions. Also a plus, they don't use subcontractors and the warranty is good. No hard sales or telling you need more than needed. We had 9 really old ducts removed, replaced , and custom vents put in! I give 5 stars for their work and honesty, but only 2.5 for their prices, so I chose 3 above. Pacific Aire installed my current furnace 7 years ago, and we'd had a service contract with them for several years before that. I have always found them professional and honest, and their techs clean up and are respectful and friendly. BUT. Last year I needed a new A/C Compressor. My ex had chosen P.A. for the furnace. Being on my own now, and this being a costly project, I decided to get several bids. Aladdin has a good reputation locally for repair but wasn't competitive or as knowledgeable as either Pacific or Conejo Heating and Air, so it was down to 2. Both senior salespeople were excellent. Honest for sure- I avoided telling either what the other said, and with only small differences of opinion they were the same. And very knowledgeable. But Conejo won me over as their bid for the same unit saved me $1000 AND they saved me an additional $1000 or so by telling me that I no longer needed a 5 ton unit because when we put in the furnace, we divided the vents into 3 zones. I got a 4 ton instead. Last week Pacific came out to do the service and filter change on the furnace. It needed a new "flame sensor" to the tune of $220. A discounted price because of my annual contract. I did a little googling while he was here, and learned the actual part- same mfr- retails for $16.95. So, huh?? Called the office and the rest is for "labor and our lifetime warranty". Completely free replacement for as long as the furnace lasts, but only as long as I continue to pay monthly for their contract. How much, I asked, is your hourly labor charge (for a standard tech)? $360. This seemed exorbitant to me. I let him do it, this time. But called Conejo Heating later to compare for future decisions. They don't set an hourly labor fee but have a "per job" price list. Not uncommon, just a business choice. However for this particular job, that price was $125! So yeah. I'll give Pacific the silver medal for the area, but I'm giving Conejo the gold and will be using just them in the future. Their local reputation for quality and honesty is also impeccable. Both are quality, but Pacific I now consider overpriced. read more

I hired Pacific Aire Yesterday to perform a $77 Tune-up / Inspection of a forced air furnace unit. Service Tech Megan showed up exactly when she said she would which rarely happens with most service contractors. Megan explained exactly what she would be performing to the furnace and why. Horrible company. As others have said, scam artists and insanely expensive, $33,000 to do our house that has existing central air. They also claimed things were leaking as other reviewers have said, and they were not. The most irritating thing to me though was we paid for an advertised "inspection" which was supposed to include a new filter and report, in the end all we paid for was them to give us an insanely expensive quote as a lot of what was supposed to be done in the inspection was not done. Never got any paperwork saying what problems we may have, never got copies of the pictures, even though I called to ask for them or give me my money back. I'm a business owner and can't stand dishonest businesses like this. read more

We had an issue with a PVC pipe leaking into the wall and although they weren't able to fix the problem, the first time, they second a second tech and they gave us two choices, either have a plumber fix it or install a condensate pump. But my reason for the 4 star review was not necessarily the company, but the tech, Jason Gill, the tech that came out was super conscientious, courteous and meticulous with his cleanup and attention to detail. read more

Avoid this company. I used them for the first time 10 plus years ago. Got a very expensive new system, new ducts - the whole 9 yards. They had a repair contract and came out regularly to service the system which included an expensive dust catching electrical system. After a few years of regular service, I had a problem and they said I needed an expensive repair. The repairman called the office and said I wasn't following their advice the last time they did a repair, so I wouldn't get the regular repair discount That was not true - I know nothing about repairing heating systems and wouldn't do something like that. I called another company to come out an they told me of the notorious reputation of Pacific Aire and did the repair necessary for a fraction of the Pacific Aire price . This company also told me the extra expensive bulb recommended s useless. I wrote a detailed letter of complaint to the company and never received the courtesy of a reply read more

Like changing the oil in your car, you must call Pacific Aire to do it right at a really good and fair price. Ruven showed up exactly in time with a million dollar smile. While the technicians that this company sent out were polite and professional, I would advise everyone to not even bother with this company. We asked them to come out for a routine HVAC Tune-up and the technician spent the better part of two hours trying to convince us that our home was about to explode and that we were constantly inhaling carbon monoxide and fiberglass. Sure our system is old, and its time to upgrade but the scare tactics were over the top. They gave us an estimate on a complete system upgrade including new ducts that came in at about $20,000. We asked three other companies in the area to come and give us quotes for the same work. The next highest quote between the other 3 companies was for $10,000. When you pay Pacific Aire, you're not really paying for the work they're doing on your house. You're paying for the custom wraps on their trucks, vans and priuses. You're paying for the ipads that their technicians carry around with them to generate quotes. You're paying for the production value that goes into their videos that they use to explain why their work is better than everyone else's. At the end of the day, it adds up to work that is twice as expensive as any other company. Again, they were polite and professional at all times, but the scare tactics and the inflated prices were too much. I never write yelp reviews, and when I do they're usually positive. I felt compelled to warn people to stay away from this company. read more

The day before our vacation in July 2023 I received a notice from my Nest thermostat that our despite being set to cool the temperature in the house had not changed in over 4 hours. We suffered through that day and kept all the windows and doors closed as much as possible. When we returned home a couple of weeks later we called 3 companies to come out and diagnose the problem. We'd had issues with our system for the past few years ranging from faulty capacitors to leaking condensers and realized that it was probably time for us to consider replacing it. As we expected and due to the age and refrigerant (R-22) in our system we were advised by each of the 3 technicians who came out to replace it. Only one (Michael from Pacific Aire) sent us a thorough written evaluation with photos. We followed up by scheduling an estimator, and Bob from Pacific Aire came out the next day, spent an hour with us, and sold us on a new system including a heat pump and new ductwork. As it was in the middle of a HOT week, he told us that he could have his folks out here on Thursday and Friday, and that the new system would be complete by the following Tuesday! True to his word, Robert and Tyler were at the door on Thursday morning and they even managed to get the system going (even thought the installation wasn't complete) on Friday so that we would have a cool house over the weekend. They returned on Monday and early on Tuesday afternoon were finished. Throughout the entire job they were neat, wore slip ons over their shoes so as not to track mud/dirt into the house, and cleaned up after themselves. Pacific Aire even sent out a handy man a few days later to paint over some exposed area due to the new thermostat being smaller than the Nest we had previously and to replace the drywall access door to the crawlspace. The unit has performed flawlessly since then, and we are looking forward to the performance of the heat pump when the weather cools down later this fall/winter. We are very happy with their service and responsiveness from start to finish, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pacific Aire to anyone. read more
