I'm not sure what happened in the past to give this place bad reviews, but this is my experience: I have a large Australian mountain doodle puppy. He is amazing, but I got him during cancer treatment and he has not been properly trained yet. I know, I know, bad dog mama! He's loved and amazing and will be trained soon! Anyway, jump to my trip to San Diego a few weeks ago and we decided to stay at a resort for a few nights after staying at my mom's (where we usually stay every few months). We were excited because it's a pet friendly resort, but it turns out my doggo is not so resort friendly. In a panic I googled dog boarding thinking that there was no way I would find something so last minute for Memorial Day. Then I came across this company right down the street. Vinny accepted doggo and was very friendly and calming. I felt at ease instantly leaving him there for the night. Plus it was very budget friendly. I paid for a week in advance as requested. She walked my dog up until the 2nd to last day. She texted me saying she was on the way for the morning walk but never showed. That was the last I heard from her. I was worried something happened to her but now I think she is just ignoring my texts and calls. She never said anything. I can only assume my dog was pulling her as he is a big dog and I could tell he was testing the limits with his new walking buddy. He is a good boy though and the vanishing of the dog walker Shannon was unwarranted. Shannon i would like my keys back as well as a refund for the last two days of service. As you know my knee is injured due to a bike accident and I am on crutches hence the need for the dog walker right now. I would have hired you for at least a few more weeks of service and maybe longer if business remains as consuming as it has. Well good luck with yours. PET OWNERS BEWARE!! I contacted Shannon McCaffrey after doing an internet search for a dog walker in Pacific Beach. I needed a walker 5-6 days a week and her website and prices looked too good to be true, and a few hours before she was supposed to do her first walk with my dog she cancelled saying "I'm sorry I won't be able to walk your dog after all." There's a hidden reason for such a cheap pet care taker. Here's the full story... Early in the year I had a room for rent in my apartment. She answered my ad and during our meeting and showing her around my home she disclosed that she would be keeping dogs she would be boarding in her room along with her cat. To me this was too much for my apartment and my dog therefore she never moved in. Fast forward to now.. I did an internet search for a dog walker and made an appointment to meet her at my home to make sure the walker and my dog were a good match. Coincidently it was Shannon McCaffrey (the same person who wanted to move in) after a meeting at my home and showed her where to find my dog's leash I gave her the run down on her commands and what side she walks on. I needed a dog walker 5-6 days a week and thought this would've been a great deal for the both of us. She seemed interested and comfortable with my dog, but I was skeptical with giving her a key to my home. I have a roommate that would be home most days so I was going to schedule the walks during the times my roommate would be home. I told Shannon that I would be contacting her later after talking with my roommate about what time she'd be home. She wanted me to pre-pay 1 week of walks. I told her I'd pay the day of each walk and that I'd have my roommate give it to her. Later that day I contacted Shannon and asked her to walk my dog around 5-5:30, and that my roommate would be home to let her in. I also asked her to contact me after the first walk to see how she felt about walking my dog. She said ok, but a couple hours before she was supposed to walk my dog she cancelled via text message saying, "I'm sorry I won't be able to walk your dog after all". I wasn't sure whether this was just for the day or if the time just didn't work out. After I texted asking, and left a message asking what had happened.. This is the response I received via text messages: Me: "It's scary to me that I can't get a hold of you for an explanation. I can only assume it's because I didn't let you move in or it's because I didn't give you a key to my place." Shannon: "I don't have to explain myself to you. I simply do not wish to have you as a client. If it scares you that is your problem. You seem like a crazy person." Me: "Yes you should give customers explanations for last minute cancellations." Shannon: "Please stop contacting me. I told you im not servicing your pet and if you think threatening me will change my mind you are crazy. U text me again and my attorney will be filing a lawsuit against you." Me: "You are mistaken. There are no threats. The comments on Yelp about your business explains everything. Sorry you feel as though your being threatened. I would be more than happy to speak with your attorney regarding your business. Please give him/her my contact information. " Shannon: " I will." Me: "Wonderful. Looking forward to it." Shannon: "U r a nut" .. and it didn't end here. She continued to text me through out the day saying that I was harrassing her and that she's already contacted the police. This woman is so unprofessional, rude, and unreliable. I'm so fortunate that I didn't give her a key to my home, pre-paid, as well as had a roommate available to let my dog out. read more

Very unprofessional and unreliable. I agree with the other comments, her prices are too good to be true, save your money and go with a professional. My husband and I had Shannon walk are dog Mon-Fri, everything seemed to be going good until recently. I noticed a lot of dog hair in my apartment that wasn't my dogs, I told Shannon to please not have other dogs in my house besides my own. After telling her this twice, I came home to find another dog had peed on our bed. When we had Shannon watch our dog while on our honeymoon we came home to a disgusting mess and our dog had peed in several areas in the house and found other dog hair all over our apartment including our bed. Shannon was found lounging on the couch watching TV surrounded by our dog's mess. I had texted her several times the day we would be returning thinking she would have the place the way we left it, clean, but when we arrived she seemed surprised and said she didn't know what day we were coming home. After talking to a neighbor it turns out Shannon had never once slept the night at our house like we had planned and paid for. She left around dinner time and didn't return until late morning leaving my dog unattended for a long period of time. Shannon is unprofessional and a waste of money. My wife and I were going out of town and needed someone to come and look after our cat. My wife contacted Sharon, and inquired about if she had any type of background check (seeing as we were handing our keys to a stranger...DUH!). The response was unreal...verbatim. "In the year and a half I've been in business not one person has ever asked for a background check. I have keys to many homes and not once has the owner of the home been suspicious of me. You are also a complete stranger and I dont feell comfortable coming into your home without a background check from everyone in your home. I could be attacked,kidnapped and my car stolen, and many other crimes could be committed against me. Accusing me of wanting to harm your animal and doing something to or with your property is completely out of line. I have many happy clients who I have access to their pets and homes and they treat me like family not like a criminal and an animal abuser. Good luck finding anyone who would want to provide you with any services what so ever. I didnt say it was a good or bad fit I said I do not wish to work for you. If you are so afraid of something happening to your animal or home why dont you stay home instead of going out of town and leaving them alone? That way nobody can do anything to your animal or your precious home." We live in PB and she was our first inquiry for pet sitting. After very little research, we found her prices were not very much lower and nearly EVERY other company has background checks, and has pet association relationships etc... I had to go out of town last minute for a funeral and Shannon did not hesitate to make room in her schedule to accommodate my needs. When I came home my dogs were healthy, happy and well cared for. To top if off, her rates can't be beat. If you are in the beach area, I highly recommend you give her a call! read more

I was shocked my the unprofessionalism Shannon exhibited during our very short business relationship. I met Shannon outside my complex where she told me she was a dog walker. She gave me her card and a break down of her prices. Her prices were unbelievable low! Definitely can't beat that price, but there is a reason for that. You get what you pay for. Shannon did not walk my dog when she said she would. I called her to see how the first walk went as I wanted to run errands after work and wanted to confirm she had been there to walk my sweet pooch. She did not return my phone call or text messages. Assuming she did her job, I ran errands after work. Only to find out she never walked my pooch. Instead, she left me a rude note saying she would not be able to walk my dog because the leasing office was rude to her. I spoke with the leasing office and this was quite the contrary. Regardless, why would she not be able to walk my dog because of them? She used the key I gave her, to walk into my home, leave a nasty note and not walk the dog while she was there. As a business owner myself, I would have walked the dog, and made a phone call if I was unable to hold up to my end of the deal. After receiving her note, I left her a polite message asking her to drop of the house key. She did not return my calls or texts, instead wrote me another nasty email about the situation and still never returned the key. My roommate and I were not comfortable with her having a key and ended up having to change the locks. Terrible service! Please do not use her. You get what you pay for. read more

I'd like to echo many of the pervious comments about Shannon and her services. I had Shannon walking my dog for about 5 months last year. Then one day, I came home and noticed my dog had not been walked. I called her for an explanation and her response was " You didn't leave me money, so I didn't walk the dog." She'd been walking my dog for months and always got paid. When I told her it was "silly" that she came all the way into my home and then didn't take my dog out to use the bathroom. After all, it makes common sense to take out a dog that needs to pee regardless. She then hung up on me and refuse to pick up my phone calls. She did, however, have the time to send me multiple texts attacking my personal life and dog. I am actually so glad that she turned out to be a nut job because it led me to another dog walker,ironically also named Shannon, who walks my dog everyday and sends me a picture of dog on his walk daily! It a relief to know that she's unprofessional all around and not just with me. read more
